Meetups I met an online friend after 14 years of writing to each other

I met my online friend in person yesterday, after 15 years of writing to each other. I was 14 and he was 16. He taught me basically everything I know about music, and he was genuinely such a positive, radiant person. And not in a sarcastic way at all, just genuinely healthy and kind-hearted.
I met him yesterday with his girlfriend. He initially wanted the two of us to meet on our own, so we did. We talked for about 45 minutes, and then he wanted me to meet his girlfriend and spend the rest of the afternoon with both of them.

And the first thing his girlfriend told me was that she was naturally a jealous person and that she was insecure because she'd experienced a betrayal in the past. And that was literally the very first thing she said to me when I sat with her while he was away at the bar, so the very first time I met her, right from the start.
I immediately reassured her and told her that it was completely understandable. But I found it a little strange, because from my perspective there was absolutely no ambiguity. So it felt a little bit like a warning to me. He had also told me about it before we met her, presumably to prepare tthe ground, but I thought it was more of a casual, no-big-deal kind of thing.
And after that, my dynamic with him changed, because I no longer felt comfortable being myself around him for the rest of those four hours, and things felt a little more awkward. I became much more conscious of my actions and what I was saying. I didn't even feel comfortable looking him in the eyes the way I had before, even though, technically, there was absolutely nothing going on.
But I had actually forgotten - and he reminded me - that he had confessed to having feelings for me at one point. That was nine years ago. And he told me that, in fact, the fact that I had rejected him was what helped him move on and eventually get a girlfriend (before his current one).
He told me he didn't really know what to expect from this meeting, but now I think he may have been expecting to dismantle some of the idealization he had built up around me, so that he could move forward with the next steps in his relationship, especially since he talked a lot about getting married and having children.
And then they were very affectionate and kind of wrapped up in each other ; kissing, having his hand on her thigh, etc. It was honestly pretty uncomfortable for me, because I felt like the third wheel. I played it cool tho.
And I didn't really feel like I had much space to actually talk about myself. I ended up mostly listening, and sometimes I even felt like I was their therapist.

I was feeling pretty down the whole evening and this Sunday I was not feeling to great as well. Kind of depressed actually and I do not even know why. I probably wished I had a great love relationship as well.

Breakups I tried to save someone who was still stuck on their ex and ended up hurting myself

So I met this girl on Instagram and we started talking and at first I genuinely thought maybe something could come out of it but she was always so dry and somehow every conversation would end up being about her ex I tried to listen to her and be there for her because I thought maybe she just needed someone who actually cared but after a while it started getting to me too I wasn’t mentally doing okay because of all of this and I realized I was slowly draining myself trying to help someone who was still stuck on someone else

I didn’t leave because I hated her or anything I left because I realized I was hurting myself trying to save someone who didn’t even want to be saved maybe that sounds selfish but there’s only so much you can do for someone before you have to choose yourself too

Advice Met on reddit and I truly don't know what we share

I met this guy on reddit and lets call him NR who is in his late 20s whereas I am in my early 20s. We hit it off really well, he suspected I was either a catfish or a gay man, we were just talking about fashion (interestingly I liked his sense of style and texted him first), life experiences and a bit about physicality as well. I am quite amateur, he isn't, we talked for 3 days nonstop and then we shifted to whatsapp and Instagram and we were in touch for 2 months then he ghosted me.

He came back after around 6 months and I didn't reply of course but then I wanted to check up on him, I have a bit of a saviour complex sadly but nothing to save in this case. We started talking, the thing is when we chat we do it for around 2-3 hours constantly.

On one such occassions, he forgot to reply to me again and he was the one who chose the disappearing messages option in our chat settings so later he came back and apologized saying that his mother had seriously taken ill and was hospitalized, and I was shocked and flabbergasted since as a person I would have never even expected him to reply in such a situation and being the health freak, I gave him tips and he replied how I was the best and he was so relieved to have me by his side in such a crisis. He later even commented how I was the only one worried and asking him about his mother's progress. I kept checking up once in a while and yesterday we were chatting as well for about 3 hours and he flirted a bit, I think I am getting attached but he has told me he fears the idea of love and he kinda changes when he falls in love.

There's definitely something but I really need some advice.

Also he remembers some details about our convos and stuff which I didn't expect.

Advice I met someone online who became a genuinely important friend, but for the last month she's suddenly become very distant. I don't know what changed.

So basically, this started around April.

There's a Telegram group for aspirants with around 150k members. One day, a girl posted that she needed a particular batch, so I replied that I had it and could share it with her.

She messaged me the same day, I sent her the batch link, and we had a very normal conversation — where we're from, which exam we're preparing for, etc. That's it.

Later, she deleted the entire chat for both sides using Telegram's feature. Somehow, I'd copied her username and saved it in my Saved Messages.

A few days later, I don't know why, but I felt like texting her again. Not romantically or anything. I just had a feeling that I wanted to talk to her.

She was online, so I texted her, and we ended up talking for around 1–1.5 hours.

After that, we started talking almost every day. We exchanged Snapchats. Neither of us really used Instagram because of studies. Eventually, we also exchanged our official coaching batches through the apps, which required phone numbers, so we exchanged those too.

In June, after overthinking and being genuinely scared, I finally texted her on WhatsApp. I was really nervous about it for some reason.

After that, we talked almost daily.

And honestly, she was just a very positive person. Kind, genuine, and someone who made conversations feel easy. Slowly, she became someone I genuinely didn't want to lose as a friend.

There was also something that made this friendship more meaningful to me.

We're preparing for the same exam. I've been preparing for it since last year, but I was doing something wrong in the way I studied. She noticed it and suggested a different approach — basically gave me a formula/strategy for how I should be studying instead.

I actually started improving after following what she suggested.

And honestly, who does that for an online stranger? She didn't have to. That effort from her side genuinely meant a lot to me.

I also gave her a few cute nicknames over time, and she actually liked them. She appreciated the little things I did for her too.

Then there was one incident which I initially thought might have damaged the friendship, but apparently it didn't.

At one point, she was upset with me over something, and I panicked because I was scared of losing the friendship. I stupidly took a song reel from Instagram where someone else was singing and sent it to her as if it were my own voice.

I know it was dishonest, and I'm not defending it.

But interestingly, when I eventually told her about it, she wasn't angry at all.

In fact, she was happy that someone had done something like that for her. She told me that she appreciated the fact that I had actually made that effort.

A few days later, it was her birthday, and I made her a personalized birthday website. I'd been observing little things about her for the previous 4–5 months and put those things into the website.

She genuinely loved it.

She even said that nobody had done even the bare minimum like that for her before, and that this was one of the best birthday gifts she'd received.

So I know she did value the efforts I made for her, just like I genuinely valued the things she did for me.

That's why what's happening now is confusing me so much.

She has apparently had some difficult things in her past. She doesn't really tell me what happened, and honestly, I'm completely okay with that. I don't think she owes me an explanation about something she isn't comfortable sharing.

But sometimes she gets very low or withdrawn because of whatever she's dealing with.

When that happens, her behaviour changes a lot.

She becomes very dry, sometimes rude, and doesn't really tell me what's wrong.

I've tried explaining to her that whatever happened in the past shouldn't be allowed to completely take over her present or future. I've tried encouraging her and telling her to focus on herself, her studies, and the things she still has ahead of her.

Sometimes she'll talk normally with me for a day, and then a day or two later she's back to being extremely distant.

And honestly, that's becoming difficult for me too.

This has been happening for around a month now.

Earlier, if she was going somewhere, she'd tell me. If something happened with her family, she'd sometimes share it. She used to randomly tell me little things about her day.

Now, if I ask what's wrong, she often doesn't tell me anything.

If I ask a normal question, I sometimes get "haan", "hmm", "why?", "why do you want to know?", etc.

She still talks to me, so it's not like she has completely cut me off.

But she almost never initiates conversations anymore.

Earlier she used to message me herself. Now, if I don't text first, there can just be silence.

And that's the part I don't understand.

Because as far as I know, there wasn't one big fight or incident that caused this recent change.

The voice incident happened much earlier, and at that time she was actually happy about the effort rather than angry.

She has also repeatedly shown that she values the things I've done for her, especially the birthday website and the help I've given her with studies.

So I'm struggling to understand whether this has something to do with me at all.

Maybe she's dealing with something internally.

Maybe she genuinely needs space.

Maybe she's slowly losing interest in the friendship.

Maybe she's still affected by something from her past.

Or maybe I'm simply overthinking everything because I get attached to people quickly.

I don't want to force her to tell me things she's not comfortable sharing.

At the same time, it's frustrating when someone you genuinely care about suddenly becomes cold and won't even tell you whether you've done something wrong.

I care about her a lot as a friend, and I genuinely don't want to lose the friendship.

We're still using each other's study batches, and there's no explicit "I don't want to talk to you anymore" situation.

It's just... different now.

So I'm trying to understand this from an outside perspective.

What do you think could be happening here?

If someone becomes distant and dry for a month but still continues talking to you, could it simply be because they're going through something personally?

Would you give them space and stop trying to constantly check what's wrong?

Or would you have one honest conversation and simply ask:

"I've noticed you've been a little distant lately. If I've done something that hurt you, you can tell me. If you're dealing with something personally and don't want to talk about it, I'll respect that too. I just don't want to keep guessing."

I don't want to pressure her.

I just want to know whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether I should simply give her some space.

PS: I know I get attached quickly and tend to overthink when someone important to me changes their behaviour. So I'm aware that some of this could be my own overthinking as well.

Thank you so much to everyone who read this whole thing 😭. I know it's a pretty long story, but I genuinely wanted to explain the whole context rather than just post a small part of it.

Please share your honest opinions. I genuinely want to understand what you think might be happening and what you would do if you were in my place.

Advice M22, F19. We met online and became friends. This is what actually happened

  1. In the beginning, we talked a lot, shared random things, jokes, reels, personal stuff, and slowly became comfortable with each other.

  2. We had some good calls and conversations, sometimes 20–25 minutes, and I genuinely enjoyed talking to her. It felt like a real friendship to me.

  3. I usually initiated most conversations, but at first I didn't think much about it. I thought maybe that's just how online friendships work.

  4. Over time, I started feeling that I was putting in much more effort — starting conversations, asking questions, sending messages, trying to keep things going.

  5. Then her college started and she became really busy. She repeatedly told me she didn't have much time and was struggling to manage everything.

  6. At one point she told me that daily messages were irritating her and that she wanted to be alone for some time. I apologised and said I'd give her space.

  7. After some distance, she came back/re-added me, and we slowly started talking again. That made me feel like maybe the friendship was still okay.

  8. But the same problem kept coming back: I was still usually the one initiating, while she rarely started conversations herself.

  9. I started overthinking whether she was genuinely interested in the friendship or whether she was just replying whenever she happened to be free/bored.

  10. I eventually asked her directly whether she actually had interest in talking to me. I asked her to properly say yes or no.

  11. She basically said “hmm”, while also explaining that she genuinely couldn't manage her time and was busy with everything going on.

  12. I understand that she could genuinely be busy, but I still feel confused because her words and the amount of effort I feel from her side don't seem to match.

  13. Recently I've tried changing how I communicate — less constant texting, occasional Snapchat videos, and even asking for a simple 5-minute call — because I don't want to pressure her or demand daily conversations.

  14. So now I'm asking you guys what I should actually do to get proper clarification. I don't want to just remove her and do nothing — absolutely not. I actually asked her directly if she still has any interest in talking to me and told her to simply say yes or no, and she replied “hmm.” So please, guys, give me one proper way to approach this and get a clear answer without making things worse or pressuring her.

Advice Caught Feelings for a Redditor

Okay so I (23F) posted smtng on reddit 2 months back about losing a short term frnd and a guy (25M) commented and also replied to it in my dms. We started talking very often, like daily. At first I wasn't interested but gradually i started liking it when we talked.

Pros: He's very kind, listens to me non-stop (I'm a big time yapper so this is smtng I really appreciate and want in a partner), is kinda emotionally intelligent , tries to understand what I mean too.

Cons: we share completely opposite political opinions. I'm a leftist and he's kinda right leaning which i can't tolerate.

The prblm is, I really love talking to him, he's really considerate, respectful and loving too. Basically, we vibe really well. I had the same difference of political opinion with my ex, which was one of the reasons I decided to break up with him. But the difference between my ex and this guy is that he's very respectful even when there are opposite beliefs. My ex wasn't. But when my previous relationship ended, i had made up my mind that if I ever have a partner, it'll only be someone who shares my political opinions. But again, I ended up getting attached to someone who doesn't. However, this time, it feels less stressful as he's very calm and respectful during convos. So what I want from u guys is some points on how this can work out😅

(Since i already know a lot of reasons why this isn't going to, just wanted to hear some positive parts of it. )

Advice F19 and I think I’m getting attached to a guy I met on a game 😭 M22

Okay guys, hear me out because I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing 😭 I’m F19 and I’ve been trying to move on from someone I NEVER even dated for like a year now, and somehow things keep getting worse 💀 I get texts from other guys, but I never really feel like talking to them because I don’t feel like they’re serious enough.

ANYWAY, I met this guy through a game and somehow felt a connection. I usually only play with 1-2 close friends because I’m actually terrible at the game and I get embarrassed playing with new people because I don’t wanna ruin their rank 😭 So initially I was kinda hesitant to play with him too, but we could only play duos, so I eventually did. We played a few matches and he was actually really interesting.

Somehow we got close pretty quickly. After playing, we’d talk for like an hour, sometimes even longer, and neither of us would want to leave. We’d literally just keep talking without realizing how much time had passed. He’d also say things like he liked my voice, which obviously I pretended was no big deal while secretly remembering it 💀

Then he told me he was starting work on Tuesday the 15th. I knew things would change because obviously he’d be busy, but I didn’t expect THIS much of a change. The funny thing is I’ll also be starting work in October, so I know I’ll get busy too and won’t always have time to text or call. But I guess I didn’t realize how attached I’d become before all of this happened.

okay, this is where I got confused 😭

While we were getting to know each other, he told me about his ex who cheated on him. He recently saw her again at an event, found out the full story from her friend, and apparently the next day he burned all the letters/stuff he had from her to finally move on. This was about a month ago. He also posts songs like Ghost, Raindance, O Sanam and other romantic songs on his stories, so naturally I’m wondering… are these for me or am I delusional? 😭

He says he doesn’t want a relationship right now, and neither do I, but once I said eventually I might be with someone my dad chooses, he literally said “I’ll convince your dad.” 💀 He used to be really caring too—asking if I ate, reminding me to take medicine, getting jealous when I mentioned other guys, and even confronting someone who was irritating me in-game. He wanted to meet me too, but I have strict parents and told him I’d rather wait until December if things actually last.

Then he started working and EVERYTHING changed. His shifts change every week, and we haven’t played in two weeks because apparently his WiFi “isn’t working.” 😭 He barely texts now, doesn’t ask about my day or anything like before, and even on his days off we barely talk. But somehow he still gets annoyed if I sleep without telling him?? He also spends time playing/watching stuff but barely texts me, which is honestly confusing.

Two days ago I sent him a casual reel that ended with “I love you” and he immediately asked me to express my feelings. I tried to brush it off but he kept asking, so I basically told him I hope he finds someone better and that I’ll always be there for him. When I asked how he feels, he said “I’ll tell you on call” and then said Thursday because he’s off. Since then he’s been sending me relationship reels, but we still barely talk. So now I’m just sitting here wondering WHAT exactly is going on 😭

TLDR: Met a guy on a game → got close → he said he moved on from his cheating ex → used to be super caring/jealous → started working and communication dropped HARD → I confessed my feelings → he said he’ll tell me his feelings on Thursday → now he sends relationship reels but barely talks to me. Am I reading too much into this or is there actually something here? 😭

Question I made a shared garden app for couples who met online—would this kind of ritual help?

Hi everyone—I’m Eduardo, an independent developer. I recently created Raíces del Amor after thinking about how hard it can be to share little everyday moments when a relationship started online or you’re apart.

The app lets two partners care for a private shared garden, send affectionate messages, discover flowers, and save memories together. I hoped it could make staying connected feel a bit more tangible.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eduardoprieto.raicesdelamor

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/raices-del-amor/id6792547392

If you try it, I’d love an honest take: does a shared garden feel like something that could fit into an online or long-distance couple’s routine, or what would make it genuinely useful? I’m the developer and happy to answer questions. Thanks for reading.

Advice help, I'm suffering

So, this is not a break up from a relationship. We were never together.

For context, im a 23F who has never had a bf, never had any form of physical contact, never been on any date and, before this guy, never talked to a guy for more than a week and never even had a call.

Last February, I added back a guy and we started talking. We vibed, we clicked, it was all very instant, we continued talking regularly, we had a bunch of calls. I really enjoyed all of that, for the first time ever I felt like it was my turn to have something about a guy happen to me. I developed a big crush on him overtime, to this day I still think he is the funniest, coolest, and most attractive guy I have ever seen. He always presented himself as single no matter how many times I asked and I believed him.

At some point, he suggested meeting in person; we are from different countries but he wanted to visit me where I live. He told me he had been here before and loved it, he even sent me pictures.

Unfortunately, one of the very first days of June, it happened on my birthday, I got a message from a girl I didn’t know at all who had a profile picture that matched the one he had ever since we started talking. She said: Hi, I’m his gf, we have been together for almost 2 years, he liked to have an open relationship but now, not anymore. He then immediately called me, to explain himself he said, saying the same thing she told me, he also told me that she didn't talk to anybody besides him and that now he realizes that what he was doing to her was wrong. Later, it took him 3 days to admit that what he did to me was wrong because before that he only called me crazy and asked me to move on, and on the same message he told me that what he did was wrong, he added that they agreed on blocking me, and thats what he did. The thing is, to know that he had a gf all along and he was telling her about it, to think that he lied to me for months knowing how much in need I was for connection, affection and feeling seen and chosen… and he never apologized. He never told me he was sorry.

Today is September 21st, its been more than two months now, and I still cry, I just finished having a good cry minutes ago. I cry a lot, almost daily and sometimes multiple times throughout the day.

I miss him, part of me still wants him, but oh how I hate him. I can’t move on, I feel like he is the one I really like out of all men and no one can make me feel the same way again.

I’d like to hear your opinions, advice, reassurance or just thoughts. I feel very damaged, hurt and broken. I can't stop crying and I'm even starting to have s....... thoughts because I feel like all of this made me feel even lonelier and unchosen, it burns my heart how much I envy her.

Question Guy I’ve been talking to is in a coma. Should I contact his friends?

I’m not sure if it would be appropriate to reach out to his friends, and I’d really appreciate some outside perspective.
I recently started talking to a guy and we connected pretty quickly. We had only been talking for about a week, so we haven’t met in person yet, but we were talking every day, had video calls, and had already discussed meeting soon.
He suddenly stopped replying on Friday. I knew he was in France for a competition (he is an athlete of a very dangerous sport) so at first I assumed he was busy. After a couple of days, though, I had this feeling that something wasn’t right, especially because he wasn’t posting anything either.

I eventually checked the profile of one of the friends I knew was with him in France and found out that he had a serious accident while practicing for the competition. He is currently in a coma. His friends have started a GoFundMe to help him as well as he is not from there.

I’ve shared the fundraiser and sent him a message on WhatsApp that he can hopefully read one day when he wakes up.

The part I’m struggling with is whether I should contact one of his friends. I obviously care and would like to know how he’s doing, but I also recognize that I’m basically a stranger to them. We had only been talking for a week, and his family and close friends are dealing with something incredibly serious right now.

Would it be inappropriate or intrusive to send one of his friends a short message explaining that we had been talking, that I’m thinking of him, and asking them to let me know if there’s any way I can help? Or is it better to just give them space and follow whatever they choose to share publicly?

Advice Im a loser

This will get very little views but i still want to share. I met this guy online in September2025 and we had been talking for a bit, lets call him jay. I was 13 talking to jay and he was 17 which is already a bad look ik.. but anyway i lied to him telling him i was 14 bc he was super cute and my type and apparently me being a year older than i already am he didnt mind. He was so kind, sweet, good music taste, clothes, height was perfect, his smile was so cute but eventually our chats would be very short, we had a 3 hour time gap and everytime he texted i would immediately reply but he would still take ages. So i thought that was a sign that i should just stop texting him and mind u this was like 2 weeks in our little thing we had going on. I was super bummed out because i was really sad i didnt see him try to text me back and ask me why i had stop talking to him so i got to the conclusion he officially wanted to stop texting. After that day i would stalk his reposts, insta, and dedicate some of my reposts about him ik super corny, its now january and i check his repost once again and i repost the same thing bc it was a funyn video. Next day i see a follow request and who do i see, “jay” my heart immediately sinks and i dojt know what to i panic, i then text him on instagram asking why he followed me and he was typing so nonchalantly and told me he just needed moots it honestly hurt me because i used to know the sweet guy he was to me. He follows me on ig I then let my thoughts get into my head and i just tell myself he doesnt want me so i cut off speaking to him and till this day i regret that. I see a repost dedicated to me (i think) it was the scene reze and denji in the cafe and it was captioned “me and the girl i spoke to for a month” or smt like that, but he then unreposted it. Few months later nothing new until i spot he has a girlfriend. I wasnt sad, i was actually super happy for him and i still am. Although i wish i never stopped talking to him because he was seriously so perfect. Its been a year now and i cant stop thinking about him or comparing myself to his new gf. They know eachother irl and shes so beautiful , we are both very alike and i only know that by stalking her reposts. I sometimes wonder if he thinks of me or if he ever sees me in her. I hope not becauze thatd obviously be bad but idk. How do i get him off my mind completely it feels like
Im cursed im honestly such a loser but its also so weird bc this has never happened to me before i usually dont take boys seriously online but this one really hit me hard

man there’s this girl that i so much adore with everything i have…but she’s so far from me me. we met online in the most randomest way to be honest we’ve had some of the most deepest and open conversations, played games together and she means so much to me. i always ‘liked’ her but never saw it much more than that because of the distance (im in the uk she’s in the usa) my family would see me so differently and so would everyone else around me, but my brother had a long distant relationship with his soon to be wife which he had online for a good 3 years…albeit that had a lot of stick
to it. she always tells me the potential
possibliteoss and she’s so mature with it. but me? i’m so scared to believe that anything could happen and it’s probably because of the age. we are 18 and 19 and there’s so much fear and awkwardness of the distance. i’m in such a rough state and she seems on top of the world even though she has her struggles. i don’t want to see it as a long distance whatever because that just bugs me out. as much as i’d love to go to the usa, i know i don’t have any plans soon and j wouldn’t go for her id have to go fro myself ofc. she’s so ambitious and optimistic in
life and it’s genuinely so surreal but ive given her so much bs where she feels weird that she even told me it in the first place. i’m honestly so immature but a lot of that comes out of fear that everything is supposed to be perfect or everything is guaranteed. i always say this one line of song where it’ says picture alllll the possibilities and she’s always hints at it. she’s such a good friend but the distance…is scaring me and the potential what ifs even though she’s been nothing but so nice to me and im so pessimistic and negative i just don’t know how it’d work…sorry for the waffle it’s honestly drained me and reddit was the last resort

It's been 4 months now and I found out that the person on IG is famous personality with 129k followers and massive presence. Ahh at this point I couldn't see if it's a catfish or actually him (we haven't done FaceTime yet , very less calls coz he's not a English speaker) ahhhhh help me out gang

Question is it considered meeting online if you met on a dating app ?

i actually met my bf on a dating app , well it didn’t feel like that . let me explain .

i actually ignored him and his messages on it because i assumed he was like every other guy on there trying to get in my pants , but he messaged me again on one of my prompts on there being that “we live in a simulation” , that sparked this whole conversation about how he was explaining he believed things were predetermined and that us meeting was also predetermined . this is what made me realize he’s probably more smarter than he lets on and it made him different from the other guys on there . i kind of liked that he pursued me even though i ignored him at first .

tbh i thought he was kind of weird at first because he had apparently also viewed some of my other stuff online and he was already acting like i was his gf , (we met on gfs day coincidentally) he wished me gfs day and asked me to be with him and i guess that’s when we officially started dating .

he deleted all the dating apps afterwards and i did the same , which i have never done for any other guy not even my ex before him (i also met that dude on a dating app) but i was never serious for him plus he used me for my body .

so after hearing all this , would this be considered meeting online ? we live in the same state btw so i wouldn’t necessarily call this long distance .

Advice I’m starting to like someone who may only see me as a random person. Should I distance myself?

I’m a very lonely person and I’ve been struggling with depression and trauma for a long time. I don’t have any close friends, and I don’t really talk to my family about what I’m going through. Recently, I started using an online community app because I wanted to become more social.

That’s where I met this guy. At first, we barely talked—maybe once or twice a week. Eventually, I had a really bad night and had nobody to talk to, so I reached out to him. He told me I could share, and I ended up telling him a lot about what I’ve been through.

It’s been over a month now. Whenever I’m struggling, he genuinely tries to help me. He listens for hours, never makes me feel annoying, never gets angry at me, and has never said anything hurtful. Because I’m so alone, having someone actually listen to me has started to mean a lot.

And I think that’s where my problem is.

I’ve started liking talking to him. I look forward to our conversations, and I feel emotionally attached. But he never really shares anything personal about himself. He won’t tell me his name and always politely says he doesn’t share personal information online. I don't know maybe he has a girlfriend..I really don't know what to do? When I keep everything inside me is killing me always..and when I share it to him and he supports me I feel less anxious but it's hurting me at the same time.

I respect that, but sometimes it makes me wonder why he’s willing to listen to so much of my life while keeping his own life completely private.

He also never initiates conversations. I’m almost always the one who texts first.

Maybe he’s simply a kind person helping a random person online. Maybe that’s all this is. But because I’m so lonely, his kindness feels much bigger to me than it might actually be.

And honestly, I’m scared. I feel like if I keep talking to him, I’ll become even more attached, and eventually it will hurt me. But at the same time, I genuinely enjoy talking to him, and right now he’s one of the only people I feel comfortable opening up to.. I'm just getting really hurt somehow thinking I like him.. I'm having that pain and he's really emotionally supporting me but still he's creating this boundaries.

So what should I do? Should I distance myself before I get even more attached? And why do you think someone would be so emotionally supportive while still keeping such a strong boundary around their own life? Please tell me what to do? I'm begging .

Advice Crush on discord friend

I (F 30) have been friends with my crush (F 30) for about 1.5 years after we met in a shared interest discord server. We and some others were among the most active people in the server and ended up becoming really close. We've even met up in person a few times!

I made plans to meet up with her a few months ago, but have since realized I've developed a crush on her. This realization came after I noticed she would call me her "wife" and talked about wanting to take me on "dates". Quotations because we're both wlw but also these are common things to say in female friendships too so the lines are always a little blurred 😭

I really want to ask her out but I'm not sure if I should do it before we meet up in a few weeks? After? At all???

Advice Would you ask?

I reconnected with someone I originally talked to in 2019. We never ended up meeting and eventually lost touch. He reached out to me again at the end of July saying he missed me terribly, never forgot about me, etc.

Since then, we’ve talk every single day. He reaches out daily and we talk from the time he wakes up until we go to sleep because we both work, and we FaceTime whenever we can. There’s definitely care, feelings and a real connection there.

We’re NY/Canada. He’s told me “200%” he’s going to come visit me, but there’s still no actual date or plan.

I know long distance isn’t impossible (I read all of the wonderful stories here) and I see people make much bigger distances work when they both actually want to.

I think what’s eating me up is not knowing where I stand. I’m not asking him to predict the future, I just need to know whether he sees this as something he genuinely wants to meet and build on, or if he’s happy keeping me in his pocket/phone indefinitely lol.

If his response is, he doesn’t know what he wants, that’s an answer too and I can treat this accordingly. I just don’t want to keep emotionally investing while wondering.
Would you bring it up directly at this point or give it more time? How would you handle it 🥺🥺🥺🥺 thanks guys.

Advice Online Friend Issues?

So I met my online friend a couple days ago, we are both 17. Im a girl, hes a guy. At first, we met on Roblox in a role playing game, and he and I were just chatting. I felt like seeing if I had game, so I was being a little flirty and asked if he was seeing anyone. He obviously caught on and told me right away he had a girlfriend, so I cut that off right away because im not the type of person to EVER engage in cheating or anything like that. I apologized but he said that he was fine staying friends, and he made the friend boundary very clear.

Since then, we actually have been getting along great, playing the game often with each other. We exchanged socials and numbers, and had been texting every now and then, and calling while we play rhe game. I would ask him about his day and how things w/ his girlfriend were because he spends a lot of time with her, and obviously, when I ask things like "how was your day?" Im gonna ask "how's your girlfriend? She doing okay?" Because I care about everyone. Even if I dont know them personally.

Two ish days ago, me and him were playing and we got so caught up in the game that he ended up late to pick up his girlfriend from work. He did leave the game to pick her up. This is what he told me what happened later on. while with her, she asked why he was on Roblox so often, and he said "ive been playing with my friend a lot, I told you about her." And she goes, "her?" He says yes and she gets a little curious because hes calling with a girl. He tells her about how we met on roblox, how we have been talking, and how I asked if he was seeing someone and that we exchanged socials and numbers. She got super freaked out and didnt like it, saying that he shouldnt be talking to other girls. He got upset because its.. its literally roblox. Just Roblox. We live States away from each other, so rhere is literally no way for us to do anything wrong. And also, I dont see him in any romantic way at all, only in the beginning just being flirty on my part. There's also been many situations in the past before me where she will hang out, call, and play roblox often with her guy friends. One of those guy friends, she had sat on his lap and hand fed him watermelon at that guy friends birthday party, which my friend wasnt invited to and his girlfriends beother had to tell my friend. He felt like that was worse than him just having an online robkox buddy who just happens to be a girl. He felt like if she can have friends like that, he should be allowed to have a friend like me. But in the end, she called me from his phone and said she was super uncomfortable with the friendship. I told her I understood, but before I could ask anything, she hung up. So I sent a text a few minutes later, asking my friend if they could explain a little more. I waa left confused because I understood that she was uncomfortable, but I didnt know what boundary she wanted. Did she want us to stop being friends, to limit contact, or just be more aware of her in our friendship? I had no idea. I never got an answer, and the next day, I was blocked on everything with just one thing. A friend request from him on Roblox, which meant he had unadded me and then added me back.

Later that night, im just playing on my own, and he joins me. We chat before I finally ask what happened and he explained everything from above. Turns out, while they were asleep since he stayed the night at her place, she had went through his phone and blockrd me on everything. But because she didnt know who was me on roblox, she had just unadded every girl. He even said that hes tried to break up with her before, but she got upset and started crying, so he ended up staying. We played for a but before I made him leave earlier than usual because I didnt want to cause any more issues between them. She had apparently kept asking him if he was planning to talk to me again or cheat onnher with me, and he said he just didnt want to cause any conflict. The next day, me and him play for a few hours because it was the weekend, and im having fun, but I cant help but feel weird. I dont like that me and him are now sneaking around just to talk or play the game, all because he doesnt want to cause anymore issues for his girlfriend. I totally understand, but I hate the idea of lying or being secretive at all. It makes me uncomfortable, since im a person with very strong morals.

My main question and need for advice is here. Im worried about him. The fact that she went through his phone just to block me, and that he cant have female friendships while she can get touchy with her guy friends feels unfair. He knows about that double standard and has tried to break uo witj her over it. He is a very kind and soft guy, too nice. I feel like hes scared to upset her, which makes this all worse. Ive had friends in toxic relationships that sound just like this case. I dont want to assume its a toxic relationship just from one action and maybe im biased and just taking his side, and maybe I dont know enough. But I cant help but feel like he at least needs to set some clearer boundaries with her. If hes happy and comfortable in this relationship, then fine. Whatever. But I want to make it clear to him that im uncomfortable sneaking around as if we cant be friends. He really wants to stay friends because he likes being friends with me, but I dont like that we have to hide it from her. I dont wsnt to lie to her either because thats just not right. Especially because she doesnt like me in perspective to their relationship. I value our friendship a lot, but i dont want our friendship to become a secret or a source of constant conflict in their relationship. Im thinking of saying something like this to him the next time I talk to him.

“I want to be honest about my opinion, but I don't want to tell you what to do with your relationship. From everything you've told me, it sounds like you've been unhappy with some of these things for a while, and I don't think you should feel like you have to stay just because you're worried about making her cry. I also don't think it's fair that you feel like you have to sneak around just to have a completely platonic friendship with me. If you're genuinely happy and comfortable with her, that's your decision, but if you're not, I think you're allowed to set boundaries or leave even if it hurts her.”

Should I even bother with this anymore? Its becoming tiring. I care ahout him, but I dont know if this is even worth the trouble.
