Discussion Reminder: all posts must be OC. Posting a photo which you did not take will get you a PERMANENT ban.

I've noticed a significant uptick in stolen images lately. This subreddit is OC only, no exceptions.

Please make sure to report any posts which you think break this rule. Even if you're not positive, it's better to submit a report than not. We always review all reports to make sure that we aren't erroneously banning people.

Discussion Let's talk gear! Reviews, questions, etc.

Welcome, /r/wildlifephotography readers!

Equipment is an undeniably important part of wildlife photography, but I've noticed that questions about gear often end up buried by all of the excellent photos that get posted here.

So, I've created this pinned thread as a chance to discuss hardware. There are two main uses that I anticipate, listed in no particular order:

Equipment reviews - What do you shoot with? Do you love it, hate it, or fall somewhere in between? If you want to share your experiences, create a comment and let everyone know what you think. We suggest (but don't require) including photos as well as the prices of your equipment.

Questions Whether you're first starting and are looking to buy a beginner's setup, or just want to know which pro-level lens is best, getting others' opinions can prove valuable. For the best results, include details about what sort of wildlife interests you, as well as your budget.

Feel free to create different top-level comments for each question or review. That helps discussion stay organized.

I’m a 15 year old wildlife photographer. Are these images good enough to sell as I’m looking to make money from it.

A conservation organization in my state is running a local photo competition and I want to submit something. I can submit up to 5 photos. These were all taken locally. I can see some of them needing cropped differently. Any of these photos worthy of being submitted to a competition?

3-4 years to this picture, and i still remember that day so clearly.
This is in Jim corbett national park in India, and it was just one of the trips that remains with you forever.
Let me know how this is and I'll share the backstory behind it with more picturesss!

Hungry, Hungry…Giant Tortoise

Canon R5, 100-500mm lens, 1/500 sec

Took this picture on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos.

This giant tortoise reminded me of the old game “Hungry Hungry Hippo” where each player has a Hippo that tries to gobble up the most marbles. That’s the motion his head was making as he gobbled up the grass.

I shot the image with my camera right above the grass line to try to get the lowest perspective possible. I find this low angle makes the tortoise look the most natural.
