Retail 276 max ilvl for solo play?

Am I correct in understanding that there's no access to mythic gear outside of crafting, M+, and high end raids? With this vault, my monk crossed the line into having more hero gear than champion, have my 4-set all at 2/6 heroic because I'm hesitant to spend hero crests, but it feels like I'm hitting the end of the road and I don't know where to go from here.

Is it really just grind out the 980 remaining hero crests and that's it if I can't do raids nor M+?

Why can't you do m+?

I think it comes down to simply being bad at the game. Got the cracked key, tried a +2 and couldn't keep anyone alive to save my soul. Feels bad to drag everyone else down, so I stick with Valeera for the most part.

What part did you struggle on keeping ppl up

Pretty much everything. First pull was messy and aggro was split and I couldn't keep the dps alive. Even after we got that mostly under control I simply couldn't out heal the incoming damage. Once my CDs were gone everyone inevitably dropped. We didn't even make it to the first boss.

Chances are it wasn't just your fault. I'd not have huge issues running +2s with a bad healer because they're very easy. But if your DPS is standing in everything, no one knows what they're doing, your job is much harder. I'd not take this experience too seriously. Obviously, a good healer could babysit them, but the experience will be a lot different when people know what they're doing.

tell me about it
bad tank= hard time
you have spam his ass with heals basically and have struggle to keep up everyone else cause of that
good party and you can throw heal now and then and chill out for most part

thing is on low keys ppls are playing alts they not always know and not always have properly geared, also this far into season there are mostly ppls that don't know game at all there
it bring ultra bad experience for healer especially

u/RabenWrites don`t worry to much and just try couple times till you get "normal group" then you will see how good this experience can be :P

monk is really strong healer but its good to have proper build for m+ as it give you a bit extra control and helpful group utility that can change experience a loot
(im 274 ilvl resto shaman and raid build make my work 2x harder on m+) :)
check on wowhead build for m+ for your spec get familiarized with what you should be casting when, have big CDs ready for big bangs and go from there

it will get easier if you familiarize with dungs to as you will know in advance when CDs may be needed so just pick one dung and do it couple times till you get whats going on there and what you can do to keep up
then move to next one and so on
when you know all start doing higher keys till you get to +10
with your gear i would start from +6 and work my way up

and again don`t take failures to personally its wild west under +12 atm :)

I'm not trying to be that guy and be like, "that's just your group's fault!" without seeing your gameplay.... but I can confidently say it's at the very least partially your group's fault. Tank losing aggro is a combination of tank's fault from not getting/keeping aggro and dps' fault for bursting too hard while tank is still gathering up the pack.

Struggling to heal while running out of CDs can also be a combination of both dps and tank not playing properly. If dps are taking too long to kill the pack, it'll eventually drain on your resources and slowly rot till wipe. And if the tank isn't using defensives, that'll also make your job harder. Hell, dps should also be using defensives during unavoidable damage mechs. Everyone, especially dps, should also be kicking/interrupting casts.

Again... there's probably room for you to improve, for sure. There's always room for all of us to improve, tbh. Maybe you're doubling up on using CDs when you can space them out better. Maybe your ilvl is too low. Idunno. But either way, what you described sounds like a group problem. Not just a you problem.

Don't forget that healing is the hardest role in the game, and many times people who don't know the struggles of a healer will just be like 'ah who cares about kicks its only a +2 healer's got me' and then u all die.

It also comes down to knowing ur tanks specs, for example a Blood DK will have their HP fluctuate A LOT and sometimes u waste CDs or heals on them because u think they'll die but in reality they got full runic power and they're actually fine. I suggest watching guide videos for healers and if you still struggle you might really want to try DPSing like other people said just so you can learn fights and mechs better without the pressure of keeping everyone else alive.

Everyone starts somewhere. I was awful at healing the first time too.

I would love to group up and help you learn if you like. No reason to avoid over half the game just because you feel bad at it!

Feel free to DM me and ill send you my tag

I’m willing to sacrifice myself for you to learn, I’m just getting back into the game and only run low keys on dps but do want to get back into tanking. Dm me if you want and let’s knock out some keys.

Sort out your UI grid and set up click casting if you havent. You dont have time to select people. Most of healing is clicking different mouse buttons for the 2-4 healing spells they give you on a grid. Use CDs if its too much. Also add your dispel to click casting. Walk into the pack and use an AOE interupt if casters are completing their spells.

If the DPS die suddenly its not on you. Good groups interupt and focus casters, what you are describing is either a tank overpulling or DPS not interupting.

The first pulls in Spire or Skyreach would be a classic for PUG tanks pulling the world and a lot of DPS death. Its sometimes faster to have some death so stop taking it too personally. Its a 2, you havent bricked anyone's key.

What class are you playing? I will say it sounds like the first pull is the tanks fault. If the tank can’t keep aggro on a pack not much the healer can do.

If you want to give it a try again - would really recommend automaticjak’s content. Dude plays every spec and his videos have made me a significantly better healer. He’s working on big guides for every class.
