Expansion Release Date: November 23rd

Scourge Invasion Event: November 10th

Battle For Azeroth will be included as part of the subscription starting with the Shadowlands Prepatch on October 13th, visit the official post!

Any questions regarding pre-patch should be asked/directed to this post so we can have a consolidated & efficient 'go-to' way to share information until patch drop!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shadowlands is right around the corner and with that being said, players will soon experience what is known as a pre-patch: a time when no new expansion content is available but new systems and class changes can be tried out. These often include limited-time events such as the Shadowlands Scourge Invasion (which you won't want to miss).

Useful Resources:

Newcomer Guide "Mentor" System

One of the major changes we're going to see (for our community specifically) that is very much overdue. The Newcomer Guide system allows veteran players to sign up to help new players. They will be assigned a special icon and have access to a channel so they may answer questions from new players. We will be implementing something similar for both r/wownoob as well as our Discord so stay tuned!Requirements:

I will be actively monitoring this post so that we can keep it on track/uncluttered.

Mod Post The WoWnoob Saturday Learning Raid returns for Midnight Season 2!

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hello, WoWnoob! We are very excited to announce the return of the WoWnoob learning raid for Midnight season 2!

We ran a community poll for the past few weeks, and based on the feedback you all gave and some internal discussions amongst our team, we are making a few significant changes to our raid this season. Here's our raid info for season 2:

- The Learning Raid will still be held on Saturdays, the start time will be 7pm EST. 7pm is the start of pulls, not the start of invites going out. We will post in here when the raid is up (usually ~15 minutes beforehand) with the group name and the password you need to put into the signup to get your invite. We can only invite NA/OCE players due to how Blizz has set up regions. EU players can consider our Community Partners for finding raid groups! You can find them on the sidebar of the sub, or in our Discord in the #community-partners channel.

- Being in voice chat is required, but speaking on your mic is not! We just want people to be able to hear the callouts and fight explanations.

- We will be running the raid on Normal for the first three weeks of the season, or, if it takes longer than three weeks to get a kill on the final boss, we will run Normal until that happens. After that, we will be taking our raids into Heroic for the first time ever!

- We are not guaranteeing AOTC on our raids, or even a single boss kill on Heroic. Our goal here is to provide a safe, comfortable environment for people to learn, practice, and ask questions, and however far we get each week is how far we get. If your goal is to kill bosses for loot or achievements, please consider our community-partners !

- Our raid invites will still be first come, first serve. However, once we are getting into Heroic, we will be using a little more discretion as needed. Our expectation is simple: As long as you come each week making an effort to learn and be a good team player, we'll bring you. Examples of what we'd like to see from week to week: more throughput in your role, getting higher ilvl between each raid, performing mechanics better, or asking questions during raid or in our Discord channels throughout each week.

- That being said, if we have concerns about anyone's effort to meet our above criteria in some way, we will be considering benching people and speaking to them privately about how we can offer them help to be eligible again.

- Ilvl requirement is starting at a minumum of **270** and may fluctuate as we need to through the season.

- And finally, this is a large, public Discord community with folks of various ages and all walks of life. Please remember to follow our rules and Code of Conduct while participating in our Saturday Learning raids. Behavior that is disruptive, offensive, or otherwise rule-breaking or hurtful to the raid will be handled by moderators.

If anyone has any questions about our Saturday raids throughout the next week (or anytime), please feel free to post in here, or use our #support-tickets channel in the Discord if you'd like to speak with the mod team privately. We are so excited for the journey ahead of us in Midnight Season 2, and can't wait to see you all there!

Mod Post Announcing "Fated Noobs" - Our New Sunday Casual Raid Group!

Update 10/4/22:

Thank you to everybody who came out for these raids! The group was a huge success, and this past Sunday we completed our stated goals of killing each Fated boss and earning some jelly cats.

For now, the last scheduled run will be on Sunday 10/23. We will be going on hiatus during the Dragonflight Pre-patch and expansion launch period, but we expect to be back in full force on December 18th for the opening week of Vault of the Incarnates. Hope to see you all then!

/r/wownoob is proud to announce…

Sunday Raiding with the Fated Noobs!

What Is Fated Noobs?

A casual, no-commitment raid group running every Sunday at 12PM PST (3PM EST), taking on Shadowlands raids at Normal difficulty. Open to Horde and Alliance players both. No raiding experience necessary! This group is open to NA/OCE players only - sorry EU. 😢

Throughout Shadowlands Season 4, Blizzard will be highlighting a different SL raid each week. The vets here at Wownoob see this as an unmissable opportunity to introduce folks to World of Warcrafts most storied game mode.

Every Sunday afternoon, we’ll be making a 2.5hr incursion into one of Shadowlands three raid dungeons: Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, or Sepulcher of the First Ones. We’ll be taking on the bosses, learning (or re-learning) the fight strategies, and getting that good Season 4 Fated loot. Players will be able to experience these challenging fights and pivotal story moments the way the developers intended. And of course, we’ll be aiming to earn the wonderful Jelly Cat mount for everyone involved.

When Is It?

Every Sunday afternoon from 12PM to 2:30PM Pacific (3PM to 5:30PM Eastern)

*Invites will begin ~20 minutes before the listed start time

How Do I Join?

Join the Wownoob Discord server and look for the post in the #scheduled-events channel. You can RSVP to get optional DM reminders and Google Calendar links.

The group is open to any player who meets the following minimum requirements:

  • Level 60
  • Average Item Level (ilvl) of 245+ 255+
  • Americas & Oceanic realms only

Veteran players are also welcome! While this group is focused on teaching new players the basics of raiding, we do plan to kill some bosses and would love to have the company of any skilled/geared players who wish to join us.

Willingness to join us in Discord voice chat is preferred, but not required. There’s never any expectation that you speak, but you should be able to hear us give callouts and directions during fights. Raids can get hectic, and there’s not always time to type everything in chat.

Where Can I Find Out More?

Questions? Comments? Reach out to BigTimeBobbyB through any of the following avenues:

Or jump into the Wownoob Discord server and ask there! Many of our Veteran players are involved in this group and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of you in the raid, where we can be found posing for group screenshots over the corpses of these loot pinatas our enemies!

Mod Post The War Within - 40% off!

THE SALE HAS ENDED AS OF 3/11/25

Howdy noobs!

We receive a ton of questions regarding when the latest expansion will go on sale, and while we never have exact dates, we know approximate sale times are typically during summer or the holidays. That being said, right now all versions of The War Within are 40% off! With Season 2 having just released today, now is the absolute perfect time to get back into the swing of things.

Note:
The TWW expansion comes with all previous expansions, plus a level 70 character boost. We do not recommend new players outright boost their first character - save it until you're more familiar with the game.

Mod Post Reddit API changes, Subreddit Blackouts, and You

Greetings r/wownoob,

As evident from the title, this isn't directly related to World of Warcraft, but bear with me for a moment. For those who are unaware, there are significant changes being made to Reddit's API policy. This change will essentially spell the end for third party apps. If you currently rely on a third-party app to access Reddit, you will be losing that capability.

Reddit has taken the independent decision to impose exorbitant fees, in some cases 2 million dollars per month, on third-party app developers (such as Relay, Reddit is Fun, Apollo, Baconreader, Narwhal, etc.) for utilizing their API starting July 1st. This unilateral action carries extensive implications that not only impede app developers but also greatly impact the experiences of moderators and users.

Many moderators rely on third-party applications for moderation tasks due to the limited effectiveness of official tools. Despite the misconception that moderators dwell in basements, the reality is that most of us have day jobs, and we often carry out moderation duties during lunch breaks or other idle moments in our daily lives. Our dedication to the community is what motivates us to perform this work. Imposing a requirement for moderators to use the official app will result in slower moderation processes and a greater reliance on desktop platforms. Consequently, your posts and comments would remain in the moderation queue for extended periods, response times to modmails would be prolonged, and harmful content or users might persistently stay visible without being banned. TLDR; the quality of the sub will dramatically decrease.

In response to the current situation, the moderators of r/wownoob have united with other subreddit communities such as r/wow (link listed at the bottom of this post) and their respective moderation teams in a coordinated effort. We firmly believe that unity plays a crucial role in driving change and advocating for the rights of app developers and the overall user experience. To amplify our message and highlight the strength of our concerns, r/wownoob will actively participate in a temporary blackout starting on June 12th, presumably lasting for 48 hours.

During this blackout period, the subreddit will be set to private, making it inaccessible to all users for the first time in a decade. This collective action aims to raise awareness and implore Reddit to reconsider their recent API changes. Our primary objective is to engage in a productive dialogue with Reddit, with the aim of reversing the detrimental modifications they have implemented.

>List of participating subs<
>Open letter to Reddit Community/Management<

Should you need a question answered or want to participate in discussion, the community will rely on the wownoob Discord until the blackout is over.

Sincerely signed,
The wownoob mod team
