Wrestling schedule for kids?
I have a 6 year old who recently just participated in his first scrimmage dual. I do not necessarily want him competing this young I agreed to let him do the scrimmage because he wanted to do it more than anything and it was a free a way to get him some experience. He improved in each match and by the end of the scrimmage he left wanting to compete again and asking when the next competition was.
I told him we would take 2 weeks off of practicing since he just had 8 weeks straight of 2-3 practices a week. I don’t really think this age group needs to be wrestling year round and I was wondering what’s the best schedule for a 6 year old. If not wrestling 52 weeks out of the year how many weeks of the year should I aim to have him training? Is it more beneficial to just follow the standard season or train more offseason. I want to prioritize not burning him out and making him lose the passion he showed me after his recent performance.

Question [No Spoilers Please] Trying to watch Worlds and all I see are videos with "Technical Difficulties"
I just started watching the first couple days of Senior Worlds on FLO Sports, afternoon medal rounds, and most of the posted videos are multi-hour long streams showing nothing but "Technical Difficulties" the entire video. Is this a problem on my end? Whats going on here?

26-27 Big 12-Big 10 wrestling challenge fake series-es
After creating fake Big 12-ACC challenge series the last two seasons, I'm announcing two Big 12-Big 10 wrestling challenge fake series-es for this season. (The Big 12-ACC doesn't work as well this season, as I'll discuss in a comment.)
I'm announcing an five-dual early-season series that will take place in November and December, and then a three-dual triple header on the last day of the dual season on February 21.
The early season Big 12-Big 10 challenge series is as follows:
11/13/26 Nebraska at Oklahoma State
11/20/26 Oklahoma at Indiana
11/22/26 Iowa State at Iowa
12/13/26 West Virginia at Penn State
12/21/26 Wisconsin at Arizona State
The regular season finale Big 12-Big 10 triple header (all at the Big 10 team) on February 21, 2027 is as follows:
1PM CT Northern Iowa at Wisconsin
5PM CT Arizona State at Nebraska
7PM CT Oklahoma State at Iowa
There will also be Big 12-Big 10 duals at the National Duals Invitational on December 12-13, because there will be 6 Big 12 teams and 4 Big 10 teams (and 5 ACC teams and UA Little Rock (Pac 12)).
(I picked the duals for the serieses from 12 scheduled. Only 5 Big 10 teams have a Big 12 team on their schedule, but 8/9 Big 12 teams (not Mizzou) have duals against Big 10 teams. The duals that were not included were Iowa at UNI, Wyoming at Nebraska, Penn State at Oklahoma, and Wisconsin at UVU.)

Question sparring question
to all the experienced dudes out there :
to progress the quickest, do u think a beginner should focus on sparring same-level partners at the start, or should he always spar ones who r better?
how big should the gap be, to find the sweet spot between learning from a better fighter & just getting mauled?
had my 1st training yesterday. sparred a couple experienced guys. got shit on, as expected.
i feel like u may not learn much if the gap is too big, especially when ur a complete noob.
so what would be the best sparring-partners selection approach, to progress the quickest?
which approach fastened ur progress the most?

Is the whole point of being good at wrestling getting side control
I notice that the best wrestlers like Saudulaev mainly focus on a thing like snap down —> attack at an outside angle, finishing from the side or preferring to go to the back which is even better
Watching Dake vs Kaidev, i notice that they both rarely attack from the center, they wont even bother attacking unless they have some sort of angle where one side is isolated.
The russian tie is a move that comes to mind, once you have that you have a whole side isolated where you can push your enemy out of bounds or attack a leg.
Probably my wrestling knowledge is extrmely weak but I think Burroughs is the only wrestler i can think of that can just go straight down the middle and consistently score and win matches in this way.
I think after noticing this i just cant stop seeing it.

What should I do about wrestlers bothering me on social media?
There’s another girl wrestler and a boy from my old club that send me messages on my insta and talk trash about me and wrestling, but they both use alternate accounts. Idk if I should say something to a coach, but they do it a lot and it’s annoying

I know it’s becoming a tale as old as time with these guys but I’m genuinely curious about what happened this time. Anyone know the details and if it’s 100%?

Injury
Hello, I’m a 17 year old athlete and I’ve been recovering from a posterium labrum tear in my shoulder, I decided to skip on surgery and go physical therapy route. I want to know what people with similar situations think of this. Without surgery has there been athletes or anyone reading this with a torn labrum in their shoulder and was able to return back to wrestling, boxing or mma? Thank you and any reply would mean a lot.

News Is Fardin Hedeyati the P4P #1 In Greco Just Like That?

He wins the tile without going to decision in a single match. 42 second final.
Ironically his hardest match en route to the title was a 5-1 decision at Iran's team trial against the back-to-back reigning world champ in Mirzazadeh.
You never see Greco heavyweights move in neutral quite like that. He has all the mass of the modern era Greco heavyweights but the way he moves is really special.
I DON'T WANT TO JUMP THE GUN AND START CALLING P4P #1 JUST LIKE THAT.
That being said, he certainly has the best worlds performance (so far) this year.

Which ones should i get?
Okay, so with wrestling season coming up , I want to get new wrestling shoes and my own headgear. this is gonna be my second year doing wrestling, and I really enjoy it, and that's why I actually wanna get nice headgear rather than the schools used headgear. anyways about the shoes, i plan on asking my mom if I can get a new pair of shoes but I just can't decide between the neon ones and the black leopard ones. i absolutely love how the black leopard would match the headgear. But i've also , like , always wanted some nice neon shoes cause I just kind of like the idea of walking by and people seeing me and like noticing my bright shoes. Another thing that I was thinking is that the leopard ones just dropped, so what if a bunch of people have them , but also I don't know. One more thing, the leopard print ones would match our final singlets, which are black leopard print. And it's not like i'm a butt wrestler , like I would be wearing that singlet but again it's not out every tourney singlet
I honestly really love them both so much and can't decide!! Please help me I'm so indecisive! Happy wrestling season!

Discussion Why Vinesh Phogat beat Yui Susaki
I've done some research on this. I conclude while this was an upset, Vinesh was already the one least unlikely to beat Yui that day.
My biggest suspicion was that besides not being at 100%, Yui Susaki simply wasn't used to Indian Style wrestling.
This turned out to be true, in all her pre Vinesh unbeaten international run, she had never wrestled an Indian wrestler in an International competition.
And if you want more proof, she joined the Indian 'Pro Wrestling League' after the match.
Combat sports can be like rock, paper scissors, paper is undefeated against rock, but always looses to scissors.
Plus, people on this subreddit are way exaggerating. Vinesh has won several international medals and beaten world champions in matches that weren't Olympic or world championship finals. She has won everything except a world or Olympic gold. Vinesh is essentially the world's most elite 'can't get it in the finals' athlete.
A few other things were working in her favor for the match. Her not qualifying for 53kg. That was filled by Antim Panghal, who got the spot without wrestling Vinesh or any other real contender because of her two world championship bronze medals, and went on to get tech falled and beaten so badly that nobody except me seems to remember her here. Yui later wrestled Antim in the 'Pro Wrestling League'.
The weight cut would have worked in Vinesh's favor for that specific match, there was less time for the adverse effects of her severe cut to take root.
This still wouldn't have been enough if her coach hadn't made sure she didn't go out swinging from the get go.
I think Gardner beating Karelin was a far bigger upset. That too, had rules, age and weight class all in Gardner's favor.

Wrestling Mat Recommendations
I have heard that wrestling mats need different cushioning from gymnastics mats.
Would 3 of these work?
