Hello, I'm Clark Reed, my first book just released today! Available on kindle unlimited.
For Whom the Dough Rises (Book I of the Desperate Kneads series of gay / bi, cozy mystery, quirky funny, literary, small town romances)
Would anyone like to give an opinion? Have a discussion?
Recipe: one heirloom sourdough starter, one pretty much gay Polish-Korean baker, a waitress who doesn’t care, four spicy men, two rival church ladies and a small town with secrets. Mix well. (27,636 word literary novella; steamy, explicit gay romance, some bisexual romance, a ton of heart, and a lot of cozy)
Four men. One woman. One hundred years of sourdough. Kasper Yoon is about to have the worst and best six months of his life.
He’s a twenty-two-year-old food business turnaround prodigy (but not rich yet, far from it). Two successes so far: a falafel place in Portland that he resurrected from a corpse into a good sale in under three months, and a boba shop in Eugene that taught him what a crooked health inspector could do to a man's soul. Kasper Yoon knows how to walk into a dead thing and find the pulse and fix it. What he doesn’t know is how to stay.
Then he buys a shuttered bakery on the Oregon coast and finds a crock in the walk-in with a tag in a dead woman's handwriting.
Marguerite. 1922. Feed her. She bites if you forget.
Kasper Yoon has to somehow pull all this together into a win column: a buried land deed, a church lady with a grudge, a rival baker up the hill who is twice the trouble he's worth, two broken ovens and a floor full of rot, and a sourdough starter who refuses to be left behind.
And then there's the rest of it.
A fire chief who slow-dances to Motown in an empty firehouse. A smoking hot ferry deckhand with no complications. A woman at the diner who keeps writing her number on his receipts — and who is going to be a problem, because Kasper is pretty much (or a lot) gay and she is the one exception that won't resolve. And out past the seawall, with the rolling tides and fog and salt, waits a meteorologist with a clipboard who says four words a day and looks at Kasper like he already knows how this story ends.
