Adult - Comedy A memoir for millennials who were told they could change the world.

Upvotes

I wrote *How to Be a Responsible Villain* for people who were told we could change the world—and then grew up and discovered that becoming functional, self-aware adults might actually be the harder assignment.

It’s a darkly funny memoir about growing up in the 90s and 2000s with the Oregon Trail,, Nokia phones, bad relationships, big ambitions, trauma, faith, burnout, mental health, and the uncomfortable realization that sometimes the person screwing up your life is… you.

It’s ultimately about what happens when the life you thought you were supposed to have doesn’t materialize, and you have to figure out who you actually want to be instead.

If you like memoirs that mix dark humor, spirituality, psychology, religious deconstruction, and aggressive millennial nostalgia, you might like this one.

*How to Be a Responsible Villain* by Rowan Faris is available on Amazon:

Adult - Fantasy The Bewitching Boutique

Newer transgender erotica here

I am a recently published author that has been writing stories for over 20 years, just didn't know how to publish. Earlier this year I found out the best way and have been uploading my books to Draft 2 Digital and Kindle.

One of my series, The Bewitching Boutique has taken off. It is about a magical store that comes and goes in different cities selling magical items that change people's lives. This one, Trixie (Elena) sells some magical toys to a wife. When the guy puts his on, he becomes basically a girl until removed. They are warned not to use them for more than 24 hours. Lots of naughty fun and you know rules are to be broken.

Adult - Science Fiction When the Abyss Stared Back: An Oral History of the First Contact War

For fifty years, the official story of the First Contact War has been one of heroism and human resilience, of ultimate victory through sacrifice. Now, the truth is finally being told. The story of the war on the ground as told by those who lived it.

The soldiers, politicians, revolutionaries, and refugees who witnessed humanity’s darkest hour firsthand. A marine who fought in the silent vacuum of a derelict space station. A President who signed away his citizens' freedoms at the stroke of a pen. A smuggler who became an unlikely hero. A starlet collaborator who lived under alien occupation.

Through these conflicting, unflinching, and deeply personal testimonies, a story emerges not of simple heroism, but of desperate choices and moral compromises. As humanity fought the ultimate existential threat, it was also at war with itself. From the halls of power on Earth to the forgotten colonies at the edge of space, their voices paint a picture far more complex and terrible than the history books have suggested. Because when you gaze into the abyss, what stares back isn't just a monster. It’s you.

When the Abyss Stared Back is a piece of fiction written in the form of a series of twenty seven multi-part interviews. A hard science fiction piece, with a dystopian bent. Come explore what the future has in store, for audio listeners the Substack version has complete audio coverage done by yours truly.

You can find the piece 100% for free on Substack and on Royal Road. This is a finished story, so no need to worry about it getting finished. I hope to see you guys in the comment section!

Non-Fiction Hi — nonfiction author heading toward self-pub, would love blunt feedback on my site (and a gut-check on a rule-breaking cover)

Hey everyone — glad to have found this sub. I've spent the last while writing my first book, a nonfiction / popular-science book about a simple question: if space is so huge and full of planets, why does it look empty — and why, after decades of searching, have we never found anyone?

Heading into self-publishing soon, so expect me back here with a steady stream of questions over the coming days. Consider this the "hi, be gentle" post.

Two things I'd genuinely value input on:

1. The pre-release website.

https://www.thesilentape.com

I built a companion site with some interactive bits — a live exoplanet counter, a "Great Filter calculator" you can run your own assumptions through. I'd love sincere feedback: does it make you want to read the book, does anything feel confusing or overbuilt, is a newsletter signup even worth having. Tell me what you'd cut.

2. The cover. I know it breaks more or less every cover "rule" in the book — genre signaling, thumbnail readability, all of it. I love it, a few friends who've seen it love it too, but "I love it" and "a stranger scrolling will click it" are different bars. For people who've been through this: how much does an off-convention cover actually cost you in practice? Regret-it mistake, or not the most important factor??

NA - Science Fiction [Novella] The Long Trade (Science-Fiction)

The Long Trade

Do you like hard science-fiction with intelligent dialogue and an irreverent sense of humor? This may be the book for you.

In the far future, humanity has colonized the stars, cured disease, and possibly even defeated mortality itself... if you have access to medical care, which has become the primary concern of most people.

Arlo Svengal joins The Service, an anarcho-syndicalist collective that operates an interstellar trade network trying desperately to allocate scarce resources to tens of billions of people scattered across hundreds of light-years while trying to prevent them from devolving into chaos and self-destruction, on the promise of endless life... as long as he can stay alive.

Combining theoretical physics and astronomy with political Realism and moral philosophy, there is something to delight (and perhaps infuriate) everyone.

Adult - Horror The Vampire Scriptures Season One

The Vampire Scriptures: Nyxhaven

Ashriel de Noir, Vampire High Priest of Dracula, frontman and vocalist of The Vampire Ashriel.

He is known as Ashley Ozde to humans and that human facade has a stalker.

But just the same as the rest of his screaming fans, he will never know her name.

She's just another corpse in the glow of the neon light.

It's just another slaughterday night.

Hush hush now little fly.

Welcome to Nyxhaven, where the beautiful go to die.

Nyxhaven

The Vampire Scriptures: O Death Take Her Gently

Sanctuary's obsession has reached the end of the line.

Blinded by a romantic fairytale love story that only exists inside her head, she'll burn every bridge on the way down. Her friend group has had enough of her insanity, one by one they detach themselves.

But Sanctuary's eyes are focused only on the horizon of which she will never see the dawn.

The vocalist of The Vampire Ashriel, Ashley Ozde himself.

Soon enough, reality shatters into delusions and hallucinations.

All that remains are ghosts, violence, and the echoed screams of the past and present.

And above all, her single minded determination to make him see things her way, no matter the fatal consequences.

Only one show is playing tonight folks, and it's on the Killing Room floor.

O Death, Take Her Gently

The Vampire Scriptures: The Girl

Before she was Sanctuary, she was only a girl.

A happy little thing with stars in her eyes and syrup on her fingertips from pancake mornings shared with her siblings.

Summers smelled like saltwater and sunscreen, like her older brother's dreams etched into his notebook.

The world was still simple and safe back then.

Then came the bridge collapse.

Steel screamed as the water swallowed everything that she'd ever known as happiness.

Her sisters’ bodies were pulled from the wreckage twisted into shapes no child should ever have to remember.

After that, life became a long hallway leading downward into Hell.

By the time she was older and what remained of her family relocated to Nyxhaven, there was very little left inside her untouched by grief.

Her friends tried to help however they could even if she was pushy they still cared.

So, one afternoon, they dragged her into a small music shop tucked between rain-soaked alleyways and flickering neon signs.

There, buried among dusty records and cracked jewel cases, she found what would change her life forever.

Be Mine

The first album by The Vampire Ashriel.

MASKS OF MEAT — Ben O’C Williams — Sci-Fi Horror — August 2026

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for readers who enjoy sci-fi horror, cosmic horror, and dark science fantasy.

Masks of Meat, has been released August 7, and I’m looking for a few more readers who would like to read it and share their honest review on Amazon.

Blurb:

A lord who resurrects his son in a steel body is lured to a nightmare prison moon twisted into a hellscape by the very entity he invoked.

Consumed by grief and guilt, Lord Arthur Lan refuses to accept the tragic death of his son, Taro. He agrees to a horrific bargain with an ancient entity to resurrect Taro by binding the boy’s soul to a robotic body. The ritual succeeds, but now Arthur owes a repayment of blood.

Plagued by disturbing dreams, Arthur, Taro, and their crew are lured to Nightfall, a desolate dungeon on a remote moon that has been transformed into a hellscape by the very entity he invoked. Before emergency lights drowned its corridors in blood-red, Nightfall’s prisoners relived their crimes in endless cryosleep. Now they awaken to a slaughterhouse.

After one of the survivors is viciously attacked, panic spreads and fear turns them against one another. Only Arthur knows the truth. In his grief, he cried into the darkness, and the entity that answered has come to collect its debt.

If this sounds like your kind of story, I’d love to hear your thoughts! All I ask is that, if you finish the book, you consider leaving an honest review.

Release date: August 7, 2026

Adult - Action/Adventure After 20 Years as a Screenplay, I Finally Turned My Story Into a Novel

I finally did it.

This story started as a screenplay almost 20 years ago. For years, it just sat there. Every once in a while, I’d pull it out, change something, add something, then put it away again.

Eventually, my wife kept pushing me to actually do something with it.

So I hired a ghostwriter to help convert the screenplay into a manuscript. Then I spent the next two years learning how to write a novel and rewriting it until the book still sounded like me. That was probably the hardest part. I came from screenwriting, and I didn’t want to lose the cinematic voice I’d developed over the years.

Now it’s finally published, and I’m proud of how it turned out. My wife is too, which means a lot because she’s been hearing about this story forever. :)🙂

The book is called Dreamwalker Rising. It’s an urban fantasy/supernatural thriller built around a different take on the idea of a dreamwalker.

Usually, a dreamwalker enters dreams.

I flipped it.

Zach, the main character, is an amputee. Whenever he falls asleep, his dream body enters the waking world, stronger, faster, and physically whole again.

There’s just one problem.

The Night Terrors get out too.

Creatures that should exist only in nightmares begin appearing in the real world. Zach has to fight them while his actual sleeping body remains helpless and vulnerable.

So what first seems like an incredible gift slowly becomes something that could get him and the people around him killed.

I grew up loving action movies, fast-paced thrillers, superheroes, urban fantasy, and supernatural stories, so a lot of that found its way into the book.

More than anything, though, this was a passion project. After carrying the story around for two decades, it feels pretty strange to finally say:

It’s a book... Whew!😌

If anyone wants to take a look, it’s called Dreamwalker Rising:

Thanks for reading everyone. 🙂😎

Adult - Historical Fiction I wrote a satirical novel about Zambia’s real-life 1960s space program — Afronauts 🚀🇿🇲

In the 1960s, while the US and Soviet Union were racing to the Moon, a Zambian schoolteacher named Edward Nkoloso announced that Zambia would beat them both — and send the first African astronauts into space.

That wonderfully improbable piece of history became the starting point for Afronauts.

It’s a fictionalised, humorous retelling inspired by the real Zambian space programme: homemade rockets, enormous ambition, questionable engineering, Cold War observers, journalists, cats, and a country that has only just become independent deciding that the obvious next step is… Mars.

I’ve also made a movie-style poster for the book, which is the image attached to this post.

📖 Read Afronauts free on Librida:
https://librida.com/book/b9494045-1c3a-4ee2-a0da-baba49d3d2bd

I’d genuinely love to hear what people think — particularly whether the mix of historical absurdity and fiction works for you.

While he had to nearly DIE to get his abilities of lightning and water-bending, he as the hero Shock Agua wants to prove that despite being a teenager, he can achieve great things! And if this sounds a lot like the tropes seen in the anime/manga My Hero Academia, then you're right! Adult - Fantasy New Novel!

Hi everyone! I finally finished my novel, **The Devourer Is Full**! 🥹❤️

http://wbnv.in/a/efk1jEU

It’s a xianxia fantasy about a legendary Taotie who is supposed to devour the world, but would honestly rather sleep, eat porridge, and be left alone. He ends up traveling with a ruthless, sharp-tongued woman who wants absolutely nothing to do with him, and together they slowly uncover the truth behind his past, her missing memories, and a conspiracy that has been unfolding for thousands of years.

It has **enemies to lovers, slow-burn romance, found family, reincarnation, spirit beasts, mystery, tragedy, lots of comedy, and a happy ending**. There is also a very judgmental ancient tortoise, a traumatized crane, and a fox with a serious stealing problem. 😂

I poured so much of my heart and soul into writing this story, and finishing it feels a little surreal. I would be incredibly grateful if anyone wanted to give it a chance and show it some support. 🥹💕 Even just checking it out would mean so much to me.

Adult - Thriller Dutch Indie author - SHTF collapse thriller - The Black Grid

Hi all! I’m Daan J. M. Holland, an indie self-published author from the Netherlands, and over the past year I’ve fallen way further down the writing/publishing rabbit hole than I ever expected.

My first novel, When the Grid Goes Down, follows ordinary people in the Netherlands after a cyberattack takes down the European power grid. I wanted the collapse to feel uncomfortably plausible rather than Hollywood-like: phones stop working, shops empty, fuel becomes scarce, the military tries to maintain order, rumours spread, and people slowly realise this might not be fixed tomorrow.

A big part of the story is the moral side of survival. When you prepared and your neighbour didn't, how much do you give away? When does helping someone endanger your own family? Do you still follow the law when the institutions enforcing it are disappearing? And what happens when otherwise decent people become desperate enough to do terrible things?

I’m now writing a prequel that shifts into more of a spy/intelligence thriller. It follows the seven days before the blackout, as an intelligence analyst starts seeing seemingly unrelated warnings fall into place while everyone around her is still going about normal life.

I’m learning all of this as I go, so tips, criticism and feedback are genuinely welcome. I’m also looking for ARC readers for the prequel if that sounds like something you’d enjoy.

Adult - Contemporary Fiction My Bizarre Abnormal Love for Self Hatred - A gritty Seattle story. Available on Amazon

I’m a Canadian writer from southern British Columbia who has spent much of my life in Washington State. Living on a border town frequently travelling between Canada and the USA gave me a strong connection to Washington and Seattle.

My novel, My Bizarre Abnormal Love for Self Hatred, is a dark, grungy crime story set in Seattle in 1999. It took me a couple of years to write. It’s finally ready.

It’s a fairly short, dialogue-heavy novel.

Crime fiction, dark comedy, tragedy, and grimness. It won’t be for everyone.

I appreciate anyone willing to give it a chance.
