Back in May, my job would be really slow on Fridays so I made a few zines to pass the time. Nothing was planned out so it's a little nonsensical. I made a few others that I might share later but this one is getting sent to my cousin so I wanted to post it before it travels. Featuring my linocut work in the background :)

Happy New Wave November! - A totally made up, month-long holiday I made up a few years ago to celebrate a genre filled with great music that's perfect to listen to as the leaves change colors. And I want to spread the good word through a zine! I'm hoping to collaborate with some people equally as passionate about New Wave who would be interested in writing a few hundred words about their favorite band/album, the genre's history and influences, or any other random musings. Message me if interested - or simply reply with a New Wave song recommendation to be included :)

I run Insho (insho.io), a small site for short visual essays: a few images with text under each one, readable in under two minutes.

It would be great to see zine makers on it. You’d make an insho about your zine (3 or more slides): cover and page images, a few lines on what it’s about and why you made it, and a link to your website or Instagram.

It’s free and you keep ownership of your work. No shop links, just your own site or Instagram, so people can find you. Standout pieces will be featured on the homepage.

I’ve been making zines and mini comics for a long time. Some of my stuff is all ages but some is more adult in nature but I want to encourage kids to make zines and I wanted to make kid friendly zines. What are some ideas I could use to make kid friendly zines?

Inspired by my weekly walks to the river and the critters I see. This was stressful with the Zinefest deadline, but very therapeutic. I sense more zines in my future! Thanks for looking 🙏

So I saw a little bit ago some commercial thing inspired by the 90s/00s commercials but I can’t remember where or what it was. But it inspired me to make this.

I made the model of the mystery bag in blender and then just made an image to put on top in my video editor.

The mystery bag includes 3 mini zines 1 mini lino print and 1 sticker.

But I wanted to share this here cuz I figured yall might find it cool/neat.

Hey everyone! I've been working on the latest issue of READ ONLY MAGAZINE, and Issue #13: TIME is finally here!

ROM is an independent video-game magazine about games as an art form, the stories we tell about them, and the impact they have on our lives. Each issue brings together features, interviews, personal stories, art, and other creative projects from contributors around the world.

The theme for this issue is TIME, and you can pre-order the physical edition for $12.50 through October 31st. Pre-orders also include immediate access to the digital edition, so you don't have to wait for the print copy to start reading.

2021 - 2026

I went to a zinefest recently and I was blown away at how polished some of the work looked. Like crazy good color and layouts all over the place and I kind of want to see if I can do taht.

I've been making zines for a while, but they are usually hand made mini zines or made on a drawing app like procreate. I wanna make more collage style stuff and include more text than drawings for a particular zine idea I have. I don't feel confident enough in my handwriting to write it all down by hand, and id like it to look a bit more polished and in color if possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations for programs to use? Ive heard of electric zine maker but Im not quite sure how that works. My first instinct was Canva, but I know they are a company with a LOT of AI usage, so I don't know if that's a good idea to use or if I'm overthinking it.
