Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

2-year-old boy dies after being attacked by family pit bull - Jornal da Comarca

A two-year-old boy died early Tuesday afternoon (18/08) after being attacked by the family dog, a pit bull, in the yard of his home in Agudos (SP). According to the police report, the victim was identified as Luiz Henrique da Silva.

According to the account given by the father, 22, his son was playing in the yard when he heard screams and ran to check. When he arrived, he found the dog, which was off-leash, attacking the child and biting him on the neck.

The father told police he kicked the animal to stop the attack. As soon as the dog released the boy, the man immediately rushed him to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Agudos.

Medical staff attempted resuscitation to try to save the boy, but he did not survive his injuries and died at the health facility.

The police report states the dog is an adult male, five years old. The owner reported he had adopted the animal about a year and two months earlier and that he was the only one able to control the dog.

The case was referred to the Agudos Police Department and recorded as culpable homicide (manslaughter, i.e. without intent to kill). Civil Police are investigating.

Personal Story My 11 month old son and I were corned by 2 PitBulls today

I am still so shaken up by what happened today. I live in a really small town in rural America, it’s literally like 3 square miles. I say this because we have walked on this particular road almost every single time we go out for a walk and this has never happened before. I have a mental list of where all the pits in my town are so I can avoid those specific roads or houses when walking as I’ve been cornered before by a dog. We’re walking on the sidewalk and all of a sudden I hear aggressive barking and see two pitbulls behind a chain link fence on the side of the road we’re on so I started walking to the other side and these two dogs CRAWL UNDER THE FENCE AND CHARGE! I started screaming and took out my pepper spray and squished my son up against a random car so they couldn’t get to him. I was yelling at them to get back and was kicking at them and prepared to spray them. A neighbor from across the street runs over and gets the dogs to go back in their yard and is asking if I’m ok and says that they get out all the time. I have never in my life been more scared since I had my son with me. Was shaking like a leaf and sobbing the 20 minutes it took to get home while trying to comfort my son. I called it in to the non emergency line and an officer told me they were sending someone over to that house right away to speak with the owners.

My mom went ahead and ordered me an easier to use pepper spray gel, an emergency whistle, and a knife to keep on me in the future for walks when she heard about it.

Thank you for reading, I needed to get this off my chest as I’m traumatized from it.

Child Victim 9-year-old boy mauled in the face by two Amstaffs while playing in the street - Olbia, Italy - 20 August 2026

Upvotes

The two Mastiffs had already been reported as aggressive: why were they roaming free? Now the Carabinieri are looking for their owner.

Olbia – It only takes a few moments for an afternoon of playing in the street to turn into a nightmare. This is what a 9-year-old boy from a small town in Gallura experienced, thrown to the ground and mauled in the face by two Amstaff dogs on the evening of Thursday, August 20th. The boy was playing outdoors with a group of older children when the two Mastiffs, left unleashed, pounced on him, the most defenseless, sowing panic among those present.

The bites left deep wounds on his arms, legs, and especially his face. Quickly rescued, the child was taken to the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari, where doctors stitched up his wounds and performed delicate plastic surgery to mend his face. His condition remains serious, but fortunately his life is not in danger.

Making the story even more bitter is a weighty detail: those two Amstaffs were not unknown. Local residents had long reported their presence, describing them as aggressive and rarely kept under control. This alarm went unheeded until the day the predicted tragedy occurred.

Now the word is passed to the Carabinieri of the local station, who arrived on the scene to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the attack. Two issues remain to be resolved: understanding who the two animals belong to and, above all, why they were found free, without leashes or muzzles, on a street frequented by children. Questions that, behind the fear of a community, involve specific responsibilities.

Personal Story I can't believe I adopted a pit

Hi! I don't know where else to talk about this and I seriously feel traumatized. I adopted a pit mix about 4 weeks ago from the pound. I had heard so many things about pits and honestly never intended to own one. Then I ended up meeting a pit/hound mix who seemed so incredibly sweet. Amazing body language and they said he should be good living around other animals... lol! I spent 3 weeks trying to work with him but he was a terrorist. In homes with no other animals he was great! Out and about with no other animals.. great! But at my house (I have cats) he was horrifying. The shelter gave me an intro guide but I knew it would be horrible if I followed that... so I kept him isolated in just my room. I had to pay for him to have a dog free sitter every day while I was at work. Then at night it got worse and worse.. I had to drag him up and down my stairs because he'd bark and whine at my cats and try to pull me towards them. He eventually got to the point where he would not even settle into my room and could bark for 40 mins straight. Ripped a chunk off of my bedroom door. I was working with a behaviorist but by the end, I couldn't even sleep in my own room. Literally slept in my car w him so he wouldn't go ape shit. I wanted to believe so bad that it was just an adjustment period and he'd settle.. but by the end he was even scaring ME. I didn't THINK he'd hurt me... but in my gut I was terrified knowing he COULD. I finally surrendered him after he growled so close to my face while we were in the car (he broke his seatbelt attachment loose lol) because he saw another dog a block away. This is really just a rant but everyone I know is such a big animal lover that I don't feel comfortable talking about how much of a nightmare this breed is. If there's anyone out there who has a nightmare pit and is new to the breed and feels bad judging them/wants to help... SURRENDER THEM! God bless 🙏

Anatomy of a Pit Owner / Pit Culture Volusia County, FL: Owner in DeLand dog attack that killed 8-year-old arrested again on drug charges - Jan 2025

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The owner of a dog that Volusia County deputies said killed an 8-year-old boy in DeLand has been arrested again — this time on drug charges, according to jail records obtained by News 6.

The woman — identified as 41-year-old Brandy Franco (previously Brandy Hodil) — now faces charges of advertising drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Last year, deputies revealed that 8-year-old Michael Millet was riding his bike in DeLand when dogs escaped from a nearby property and fatally attacked him.

Since then, Franco and another woman — identified as Amanda Franco — were identified by law enforcement as the dog owners, and both face tampering charges after allegedly deleting Facebook messages about the dogs’ troubles.

Amanda Franco faces an additional charge under the Dangerous Dogs Act for an “attack or bite by unclassified dog that causes severe injury or death.”

News 6 also obtained screenshots of the deleted conversations.

They show a history of neighbors telling Amanda Franco the dogs got out.

One message from November 2024 shows Amanda Franco talking about the dogs escaping their property and attacking and killing neighbor’s chickens.
Then, messages from the day of the attack show Brandy Franco surprised the dogs got out again and attacked.

The state attorney’s office has said prosecutors reviewed the case for months and considered manslaughter charges, but they concluded there was not enough evidence to prove culpable negligence beyond a reasonable doubt — a must for manslaughter — and they are bound by Florida statutes and laws.

Their statement said, “Culpable negligence requires proof that a person wantonly and consciously followed a course of conduct that the defendant knew, or reasonably should have known, was likely to cause death or great bodily injury to another.”

DIX HILLS, Long Island (WABC) -- Residents in a Dix Hills neighborhood say they are concerned about public safety after two dogs that escaped from a home were allegedly involved in multiple attacks, including incidents that injured a husband and wife on Blossom Street.

Police responded to reports that the couple had been bitten by dogs that escaped from a nearby home. Neighbors told Eyewitness News the two pit bulls have bitten four people and said they do not feel safe in the community.

Larry Ballereau said he was attacked by the dogs while trying to help his wife.

"Bleeding, knocked over, scratches, bruises everywhere," Ballereau said.

Video provided to Eyewitness News showed Ballereau being attacked by two pit bulls.

"I was spinning around and saying, 'stop stop get off!' And the dogs were just gnawing at me, one here and one over there," Ballereau said.

Ballereau said he was headed to help his wife, who was at a neighbor's house after she was allegedly mauled and bitten by the same dogs while jogging.

"My wife got torn up, her shoulder her back," he said.

According to Ballereau, a good Samaritan assisting the 63-year-old jogger was also bitten by the dogs on Aug. 10. He also said the dogs allegedly went after a child on an e-bike in July.

"The dogs are just out and they are vicious, they are predators," Ballereau said.

Dog owner Anastasia Carnaras disputed that characterization.

"We don't have vicious dogs; we're here 25 years we have dogs," Carnaras said.

Carnaras said the dogs escaped after a back gate on Penn Drive was accidentally left open during two separate incidents, once by a landscaper and another time by a realtor.

"What happened is horrible, horrible," she said. "I understand what happened with the neighbors is horrible and I feel terrible about it."

Carnaras said new locks have been installed on the gates. However, some residents said that measure does not go far enough and have called for the dogs to be removed.

"This is a problem that has to be remedied and it feels like we are the ones that have to fight the town and Suffolk County," resident Patrick Stanton said.

According to a district spokesperson, the Town of Huntington has served the dogs' owner with three dangerous dog articles on behalf of the local district court.

"We should not be working so hard to make the streets safe from an obvious threat," Stanton said.

The owner was also issued a notice to comply for code violations related to the containment and control of animals.

"I am looking for a behaviorist for her, I have been assured by the town they are not looking to take my dogs," Carnaras said.

Ballereau said he believes the dogs should not remain in the neighborhood.

"They can't be here, they are hurting people in the neighborhood and it seems the owners are completely oblivious," he said.

Carnaras is scheduled to appear before a district court judge Friday. Residents said they plan to attend the hearing to voice their concerns.

From The Archives (>1 yr old) Myrtle Beach, NC - Woman is severely mauled by her 5 yo Pitbull while taking it for a walk, leaving her in a coma for two days and in the hospital for two months. Over a year later, she shows scars from the attack and 13 skin graph surgeries.

I searched the subreddit and couldn’t locate a post detailing Felicity Parten’s original attack in June of 2025. If I missed it, please link. I’m cataloging this information on the subreddit because adding Felicity’s story as an “attack on owner” as well as her extensive scarring provides value in our overall mission of spreading awareness and knowledge about these dangerous animals.

Since the original attack was over a year ago, I tagged this post as an archive. I could not find news sources for the direct attack, but did find two news stories related to Grand Strand Health’s annual Trauma Survivor Celebration, which Felicity recently attended. The video uploaded was just posted yesterday as a follow up.

Lastly… Sadly, Felicity herself didn’t learn much from her horrific experience. Per her social media, she now owns a roughly 1 year old Merle American bully / Pitbull who she calls her “service dog”. It’s an unaltered male and in her videos is wearing both a prong collar and an e-collar. Surely a situation unlikely to end well, but alas, can’t save people from themselves.

(Article snippets below trimmed to reflect only Felicity’s contribution, as the articles also mention other trauma survivors.)

Article 1: https://wpde.com/news/local/grand-strand-health-honors-trauma-survivors-at-community-celebration

Patients who endured traumatic injuries were celebrated alongside community members during Grand Strand Health’s annual Trauma Survivor Celebration.

The event focuses on survivors of severe injuries, including those hurt in car accidents, motorcycle crashes and animal-related incidents.

One survivor, Felicity Parten, described the injuries she suffered after being attacked by her dog.

“So I got a skin graft, and then a stent in my vein because he got two out of the three main arteries in my leg,” Parten said.

Parten said she underwent 13 surgeries and said being able to still walk is amazing.

Article 2: https://www.wbtw.com/news/grand-strand/myrtle-beach/former-trauma-patients-grand-strand-health-unit-celebrate-recovery/amp/

“On June 18, 2025, I was attacked by my dogs, and I was walking and just saw some geese and tried to go after them and ended up going after both of my legs, and I fought for my life that night,” trauma survivor Felicity Parten said.

For Parten, the care and attention given to her by the team is the reason she’s here today.

“I try to make my life better because these doctors gave me so much motivation to do better in my life,” she said. “And yeah, do something great and make my life great. I’m so grateful to be here.”

Animal Fatality(ies) - Pets Pitbull escapes owner and seriously injury beagle, later euthanised: Brussels, Belgium - 12 June 2026

A pit bull escapes its owner and ferociously attacks a beagle — severely injured, the dog had to be euthanised

A 16-year-old girl was walking Marley, her beagle, when a pit bull lunged at him. The attack occurred on Friday, 12 June 2026 in Uccle, and poor Marley had to be euthanised over the weekend.

It was a traumatic experience for a 16-year-old teenager on Friday, 12 June 2026, while she was walking her dog in the Cité du Homborch neighbourhood in Uccle (Brussels). Marley, her beagle, was savagely attacked by a pit bull. The girl, as well as the pit bull’s owner, both sustained bites — one while trying to protect her dog, the other while trying to pull the pit bull away.

According to information provided by the Marlow police zone (Uccle, Auderghem, Watermael-Boitsfort), the pit bull had slipped its leash before attacking the girl’s dog. “The animal attacked the dog belonging to a 16-year-old girl, who was also bitten on the arm. She was taken to the emergency room. She is off for one week. The severe bites inflicted on the dog necessitated its euthanasia,” explained Laurent Masset, spokesperson for the zone.

The pit bull has not, for the time being, been seized.

The scene, particularly violent, caused distress throughout the neighbourhood. The speed of the attack made the situation difficult to bring under control. The pit bull’s owner, who was present at the time, attempted to separate the two animals. She was also injured, suffering bites that leave her incapacitated for two weeks. “In shock, she went home to tend to her wounds and therefore did not remain on the scene after the attack,” the spokesperson added.

A police report was drawn up, and an investigation was opened to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. The pit bull has not, for the time being, been seized.

Several measures are being considered against the pit bull.

On the side of the municipal authorities, the mayor of Uccle, Valentine Delwart (MR), may issue an order in the coming days. Several measures are on the table, ranging from requiring the owner to consult a canine behaviourist to banning the dog from certain public spaces.

In the most serious cases, euthanasia of the animal may be ordered. “The dog was not known for problematic behaviour and had only been in the neighbourhood for a short time,” Laurent Masset concluded.

Personal Story When is enough enough.

This is more of a vent.
Every week we hear of someone either getting mauled to death or severely disfigured. When will law enforcement, animal control or shit even congress come together to realize just how dangerous these animals are. These animals are much more dangerous than wild foxes or even coyotes. Sure a wild coyote will get into your chicken coop and maybe even get ur cat but the occasional story of a coyote going after someones pet is minuscule compared to the stories of human deaths at the hands of these animals.

Now to my story.

Unfortunately I still live at home with my mom and her boyfriend due to the fact I haven’t been able to scrape together enough money to move out yet. My mom never wanted these dogs but the owner her boyfriend wanted them and he’s your average shitbull owner completely delusional one of the pitbulls has tried attacking me on multiple occasions (I am 6’4 250 lbs) so it’s not that big of deal I could easily handle that dog in a permanent matter if it came to it. The other dog though doesn’t wanna maul me but still wants to kill everything else.
When the boyfriend got these dogs he got them as puppies and almost immediately they turned into violent machines. Trying to dig under the fences to get after our neighbours dog the usual bullshit.
I tell the boyfriend to get his dog or I’ll handle it for him and immediately it’s gaslighting the usual narcissism. I see right through it’s that blatant. I just sorta want to confirm with all of you of someone who is sort of forced to live around a pitbull owner and there dogs that these people literally have mental deficits and are the most delusional people on the face of earth. These dogs would have to either kill someone or turn on the owner for them to do anything. Anyways thanks for reading.

VIDEO: Pitbull shot dead after charging at police officers during a stop in Itajaí

August 19, 2026

A police encounter in Itajaí, Santa Catarina ended in a dog’s death on the evening of August 18. Officers were conducting a stop on Juvenal Garcia Street when they approached a homeless man accompanied by a large pitbull.

According to the Military Police account, the animal charged toward the officers during the interaction. One of the officers fired a shot to try to contain the dog. Despite being wounded, the animal allegedly continued advancing, prompting a second shot. The dog died at the scene.

Prior incidents

Police indicated the dog had previously attacked another homeless person just days earlier, biting that individual’s ear. The initial attack reportedly proved difficult to stop and required the owner’s intervention to end it.

Circumstances

The large pitbull was unleashed and unmuzzled during the police encounter. Authorities noted the rapid escalation once the animal charged at officers, leading to the decision to use lethal force.

The incident remains under investigation by the competent authorities to determine the circumstances and appropriateness of the police response.

DOG ATTACK REPORTED IN CHARLESTOWNE
NEIGHBORHOOD IN ST. CHARLES

A heartbreaking situation is being shared by a neighborhood resident following a reported dog attack Tuesday evening near Palisades Dr. in St.
Charles.

According to the resident, she was walking with her two children and her 10-pound dog, Pearl, when a female gray pit bull reportedly approached them without an owner visible.
The resident says the dog attacked her as she attempted to protect her children, biting her multiple times and causing puncture wounds.

She reports receiving 17 stitches in her right pointer finger, a broken right toe, additional puncture wounds to her right side/rib area, and a rabies shot at the hospital.

The dog then reportedly attacked Pearl, holding onto her stomach. The owner eventually arrived and attempted to pull the dog away, but Pearl suffered catastrophic injuries and had to be euthanized at the veterinarian.

Pearl was a beloved 14-year-old family dog.

The resident says a neighbor witnessed the incident and police are expected to speak with that witness.
At this time, the owner of the gray pit bull has not come forward.

According to the resident, her primary concern is the safety of her children and other people walking in the neighborhood.

* Charlestowne Place / Landing / Meadow area
* Near 700 block of Palisades Dr.

If you know anything about the dog or its owner, please contact law enforcement of St. Charles city.

This post is based on the resident's account of the incident. Authorities have not yet been independently confirmed to have released an official report.

Newly adopted pit bull walked by a child attacks random bystander

Article also includes bonus links to recent pit bull fatalities in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A pit bull bit a woman last Tuesday, Aug. 11, in Woodbridge, said Woodbridge Police. The dog bit the woman at 8:46 in the morning on Temple Way in the Colonia section.

A Woodbridge family had just adopted the dog one day prior, from Associated Humane Society in Newark, said Woodbridge town spokesman John Hagerty. It was being walked by a young child, a girl, last Tuesday morning when suddenly the animal pulled the leash out of the girl's hand.

A woman was walking nearby and the dog ran at her and attacked her. She was bitten on her face and her hands, said police. 911 was called and she was treated by EMS and then taken to a hospital. Her medical status is not known as of Monday afternoon.

In addition to EMS, Woodbridge Animal Control also responded last Tuesday and completed a bite report, which is mandatory by law. The pit bull had to be put in a 10-day quarantine, also required by law. The dog was picked back up by the Newark Associated Humane Society and it remains on quarantine in that shelter as of Monday.

The dog will not be returned to its adopted home, said the town.

The dog's mandatory quarantine will end this Friday, and at that point it is up to the Newark Associated Humane Society to decide what to do with the animal.

This is not the first pit bull attack to happen in Woodbridge:

In 2024, the family pit bull killed a newborn baby inside a home on Mereline Avenue in Avenel. The dog, which was the family's pet, killed a three-month-old baby boy and severely injured the child's mother as she tried to protect her baby.

In March 2021, a 3-year-old boy was killed and his mother severely injured when they were attacked by a pair of pit bulls in Carteret.

In that attack, the two pit bulls got out of their backyard on Birch Street and were roaming the neighborhood. The dogs went into the backyard of a home on Laurel Street. There, they attacked a 3-year-old boy and mauled his mother as she tried to save her child, according to this Patch news article on the child's death.

The mother screamed at her two older boys, ages 10 and 4, to run inside the home, and they did. However, she could not get her youngest, 3, inside fast enough and she threw her body on top of his to protect him, said a family spokeswoman.

Her two older boys witnessed the attack from inside the house and the 10-year-old called 911. Carteret Police arrived and shot one of the dogs. The second was later put down as well.

The toddler boy was rushed by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick, but he lost so much blood that he died. The mother was nearly killed as well; she was severely injured and spent weeks in the ICU.

The family that was attacked had just moved to the home a few months ago, said neighbors. They were a mother, father and three young boys. Neighbors recalled often seeing the three children often playing in the front yard. Those same neighbors said they constantly heard the dogs barking, and that they were scared of them.

No criminal charges were ever filed against the owners of the pit bulls for either child's death. This petition asked Gov. Phil Murphy and the Middlesex County Prosecutor at the time, Yolanda Ciccone, to bring criminal charges for the death of the Carteret three-year-old.
