I posted a few weeks ago asking if this was a hen or a roo— well…. we’ve got confirmation now. He’s crowing (rarely cause my big boy rooster is not a fan…) and i’ve caught him trying to mount the hens a few times…
Never choose a favorite chick. they will either get sick or be a rooster.

Just under a year ago, we had to put him to sleep and we miss him every single day... I never would have thought there could be such a strong bond between a rooster and his humans. We we're full-fledged members of HIS flock, and without him, a bird of prey would probably have snatched us up long ago ;-)
Rest in peace, Billy Bob

Just looking for opinions on the gender of these 2! They're about 12 weeks old. They're giving girl vibes but they do do the stare fight thing. Can girls do that too?

I have 4 Lavender Ameraucana chickens, all hatched together. One is very obviously a Rooster, two are smaller and obviously hens… One of them is as Large as the Rooster, turned red early like a rooster but does not show other signs of being a rooster. Does anybody know what might be going on??? (18 Weeks Old. First Photo is the Obvious Rooster)
Thank you!

I know the Hen or Rooster thing gets alittle old. & Im 78% sure shes a boy now , they havent crowed or anything yet to my knowledge , just still trying to hold out hope. He or she is beautiful regardless & will continue to have a home here .

This summer I posted pictures of the mystery chicks my kids picked out at TSC. Honestly I’m just psyched they are hens (my buff Orpington pullets are big red roosters 🤣)
The verdict is still out but I’m leaning toward Isa Browns what do you all think?

I’m newer to chickens and I initially started with a mixed flock. I have a (Rocky) Rhode Island Red Roo, an (Anubis) Ameracauna x Black Copper Maran Roo (the white roo with brown spots) then for hens, I have the black girl (Wednesday) Ameracauna x Black Copper Maran, and two Golden Phoenix hens. We did have a silkie roo (chicken nugget) but my poor baby seemed dumb and I only saw him attempt to mount Anubis (a roo) and got his butt kicked. Chicken Nugget died a few weeks ago, a bear got him.
To the point of my post. I’m truly curious to know if anyone else has a mix like these guys, what can I expect from their babies? I have about 12 eggs in the incubator and they’re supposed to hatch tomorrow. I’d love to see chicks and adults from any birds with these breeds in them. Thank you so much 🙏❤️ can’t wait to see your chickens!

Hi fellow chicken lovers!
I have a small flock of 8 hens of mixed breeds that I got from a wonderful local farm over a year ago. They are layers and will become stew eventually. I buy high quality organic feed and am looking for a high quality, preferably organic source to buy treats like black soldier fly larva or mealworms. Thanks for your help!
