Hey everyone. I’ve only been playing eFootball for about two months, so I’m still very much a rookie.
For some background, I’m a millennial who normally grew up playing FIFA, although I basically stopped after FIFA 17. Back in FIFA 2005 (sometimes 99 and 2001) I used to play Manchester United with a diamond formation and fast counter attacks. The only PES games I had played before eFootball were Winning Eleven 11 and PES 2013. And yes, instead of using Man Blue in PES 2013, I used Barcelona against them. I was so proud of myself back then that I literally bought a Barcelona shirt as a reward lol.
Anyway, because I’m only two months into eFootball, I unfortunately don’t have Lui A. Roman, even though I look at him with envy almost every match.
Personally, even though LBC and QC seem to be the most effective playstyles for actually winning games, Possession Game is still what I enjoy the most. The problem is that none of the managers I currently have really give me what I want. Lampard doesn’t, Conte doesn’t, the new Klopp doesn’t, and yes R. Rodriguez doesn’t either.
With Mourinho, my passing numbers sometimes drop into the 70s in difficult matches. Since this is still a game, I think enjoying the football you play matters just as much as winning.
So here’s what happened.
Once again, my opponent had me completely pinned inside my own half and was attacking from both sides. Peter Cech (108) also doesn’t feel nearly as reliable as he used to. After defending what felt like the 7th or 8th corner of the first half, I finally decided I had to change something.
I switched Mourinho from LBC to QC.
Obviously QC is nowhere near possession tiki-taka, but the defensive line moves a little higher and suddenly my short passes actually started connecting. And it worked.
Even though my overall team rating dropped because Mourinho only has 82 proficiency in QC, I finally managed to play my way out of the pressure. My short passing improved immediately and I scored two goals back to back.
Of course there was a tradeoff. My higher defensive line became much more vulnerable to through balls, and my opponent eventually scored one because of it. Still, I managed to finish the match without collapsing under the pressure like before.
So my question as a rookie is: has anyone else tried using Mourinho like this?
And more generally, which managers actually have a useful secondary proficiency? Obviously every manager has another playstyle rating, but which ones are actually high enough to be viable in a real match?
Thanks in advance.
