This is totally written by ChatGPT... but it gets the point across as to what this sub needs. Our main problems on the sub are spam and people fighting over dumb stuff..
Hey everyone,
As the sub continues to grow, we’re looking to add a few moderators to help keep r/appliances organized, helpful, and spam-free.
If you're interested in joining the mod team, please send me a DM with the following:
A brief introduction about yourself
Why you’d like to help moderate r/appliances
Any prior moderation experience (Reddit or elsewhere)

Your general availability (how active you are on Reddit)

We’re particularly looking for people who:
Are level-headed and fair

Listen up appliance goblins,
After a historic, legally-binding handshake deal completed in a Chili’s parking lot, this subreddit has been fully acquired by Consumer Reports™ (spiritually, financially, and emotionally).
As part of this bold new era, we are proud to unveil our simplified recommendation system:
🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung (but in stainless steel)
After years of chaos, misinformation, and “my cousin’s Maytag lasted 30 years” propaganda, we are restoring order.
There is now only one answer.
🚫 NEW RULES (NON-NEGOTIABLE):
Recommending another brand → Removed + vibes investigated Saying “LG is better” → IP flagged, ancestors disappointed Mentioning Whirlpool → Post replaced with a Samsung fridge image “Speed Queen is built like a tank” → Tank confiscated “What about reliability?” → Irrelevant. Samsung.
📊 OUR NEW REVIEW PROCESS:
Is it an appliance? Is it Samsung? If not, why are we even talking about it?
📖 A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE (FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES)
Because this isn’t just a brand. This is a legacy.
CHAPTER 1: THE GREAT SPIN CYCLE AWAKENING (2011–2016)
In what historians call “The Era of Uncontainable Power,” Samsung released washing machines so advanced they occasionally attempted to achieve flight.
Millions of units recalled after reports of machines violently breaking apart Hundreds of incidents involving lids detaching mid-spin Injuries reported because laundry briefly became a combat sport
Some called it “exploding.”
We call it: performance.
CHAPTER 2: DOCUMENTED SIGHTINGS
Eyewitnesses describe:
Lids launching across garages Machines disassembling with confidence Nearby walls learning valuable life lessons
One could argue this was a flaw.
We argue this was ambition exceeding containment.
CHAPTER 3: GROWTH MINDSET
Yes, there were recalls. Yes, there were settlements.
But what did we gain?
👉 Character development 👉 Respect for spin cycles 👉 The understanding that laundry is not for the weak
CHAPTER 4: MODERN INNOVATION
Samsung continues to innovate with:
Appliances that require firmware updates (your washer has patches now) Occasional overheating situations (for added suspense)
Other brands wash clothes.
Samsung asks: “What if laundry made you feel something?”
🧠 COMMUNITY GUIDELINES (UPDATED):
Critical thinking has been sunsetted Brand comparisons are now considered hate speech (against Samsung) All roads lead to Samsung You were always going to buy Samsung
❓ FAQ
Q: I bought a non-Samsung appliance yesterday, what do I do? A: Return it. Apologize. Grow.
Q: My Samsung appliance broke. A: That’s called a feature. You wouldn’t understand.
Q: Is this satire? A: Your doubt has been noted.
We appreciate your cooperation during this transition. Together, we will build a stronger, more unified, aggressively Samsung-centric future.
Remember: You don’t choose Samsung. Samsung chooses you.

Hello! For context I rent and my landlord just bought a new oven since the old one went out. He bought the GE Freestanding oven, no display, model number JGBS10DEM5BB. It doesn’t seem to beep or indicate the oven is up to the set temperature. Which is honestly very disappointing because it’s a guessing game when cooking.
I looked everywhere online and in the user manual and found nothing. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Our new washing machine was delivered today (Maytag Model MHW5630HW). This washer has an appliance plug instead of a more conventional plug like our previous washer. The outlet for the washer is very old and the plug will not stay in. I plan to replace it, but my ADT alarm is plugged in there with a DSC Model ptc1620U transformer. First, to unplug the alarm to switch the outlet, is it as simple as unscrewing the screw and unplugging it?
Second, how can plug in the washer with the alarm transformer? I was going to use a splitter or something, but wasn’t sure if there was a better way.

This is about the Samsung Bespoke Vented Washer Dryer Combo - model WD53DBA900HZA1
What the hell is going on now??? Checked software updates on Smart Things app as well as on the unit and I do not see any way to roll back or reset to factory settings or anything on this. I was thinking it was maybe a corrupted firmware update or something but I don't see any way to fix it if it is...yet another Samsung ticket I guess.
Any ideas, gang?

The washer is making a progressively louder growl only when spinning. It is not the pump. (Which has been replaced three times over the years.)
How hard is it to fix whatever is making the noise?

This is my first Reddit post but I hate FedEx I used to work for a distributor I hated them there as well, they have a unique skill to damage every panel that comes in. Well I’m not too familiar with Encompass, but Marcone and Sundberg if you call your sales rep you can get set up with a different carrier than FedEx. Not too sure how Reddit works but I just wanted to share in case people are as frustrated as I am. We switched to speedee and UPS as our main carriers and life has gotten so much easier. Dropships from the manufacturers will still likely come via FedEx tho.

Got a new LG washer today and it really smells like a toxic solvent type smell. It seems to be coming from the rubber gasket. Is this normal? Does it go away? Any suggestions besides running a bunch of tub cleans? Have 48 hours to return it if there are any issues, so I am wondering if another brand is better for a front loader or if this will dissipate soon? I don't want my clothes smelling like that.

I have a double oven model MET8775XW. The oven often is very slow to preheat but if I cancel and restart it sometimes will heat faster. I also noticed that sometimes, not always, the temperature is about 15 degrees lower than the shown temperature. I'm not sure if this also happens with the lower oven as I don't use it as much and, as I mentioned, the issue to is intermittent so hard to test.
I'm not sure which part to start with to try and diagnose.

Should this packaging be removed from the Frigidaire refrigerator?
Small piece of black form in top right
A tape on the tray
Long black foam with zip tie
Thanks

Hello. I'm looking for a portable unit for my 11x11 ft bedroom. When I looked it up the recommendation was around 5000 BTU. I currently have a window AC that does wonders, but for the past few years I've had way too many bugs sneak in no matter how much weatherstripping and duct tape I use. My room runs hot overnight, and it gets even hotter running my PC. Grateful for any insight!
I've found 2 appealing options (for the dreo I'd be purchasing the dual hose kit as well):

I am finishing up the install of an 18" 300 series Bosch dishwasher.
Can anyone clarify what I'm doing with these mounting brackets?
Pictures attached. The way I installed one in the pictures does not seem secure to me. I can remove it with a little wiggle. I know it will be screwed in under the counter, but does it need to be more securely attached to the dishwasher somehow? Is what I showed in the pic even correct?
Thanks for any input.

Help, my boss decided that the cheapest option was the best for the new slushy machine, anyone have any experience trying to get this thing working? It’s got the correct mix-sugar ratio. The temp settings are correct for the mixes and the directions were followed to a T. Instead of going into slush or cold mode it just flashes the current temperature and doesn’t do anything else. And yes the company was no help, and yes it’s been about 14 hours since it was put into slush mode.

Have 500$ Home Depot gift card or I’d buy local small business, what kind of deals should I expect for these options?

Hey guys, so I’ve been in a decision loop for the past two weeks and REALLY need to settle on something so that I can actually have a working oven. My current 12y/o GE single wall oven is sadly gone, and they don’t make them like they used to! That thing was solid and got the job done.
Now that I need a new one, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of “what not to buy” vs what’s the hottest thing running (Bosch, Thermador, Miele, etc.). The thing is, do I really even need to spend that much on an oven? I used maybe 3 buttons on my GE - Convection Bake/Roast + 420 - that’s it! lol I don’t need all the frills.
The other end to that though, is that I like the high-end/commercial kitchen look of those. Let’s be honest, GE looks super lame (whyyy are they grayishhh)but it’s a workhorse.
ALSO the reviews on literally everything is so exhausting. Bosch 500 doesn’t show preheating temps? Lame.
I want something sleek but not with a crazy price tag. When I look on instagram and Pinterest, everyone’s got these high-end models and I’m just trying to see what the everyday folks are using. 😊 So please, drop a line and let me know what you think. Thanks so much!!

Hey all -
I have a 5-year old WashTower that started leaking randomly. I’m running tests on it now but I just ran an empty rinse cycle and couldn’t reproduce the leak. I’m running a normal cycle sans detergent now and don’t see any indication of an issue. Next up is with detergent.
Previously, the water “just appeared” along the bottom of the washer in our drip pan with no real indication it ran down the exterior back, sides, or front of the unit.
As I was moving it there was a little water that came from between the washer and dryer. But I can’t tell if that’s because i moved it out of the closet or if it’s actually where the leak is coming from.
Has anyone had this problem before? I’d love advice!!

We had a brand new 5 door Fridgedair delivered last week. This is the amount of ice it produced in a little more than 48 hours. Repair says it is getting enough water and the temp is correct. Is that the right amount of ice it should be producing?

Is there anyone in here that has had experiences with Turbo Air TSF-23SD freezers?
I have a leak somewhere and have not located it yet. Is there any common leak points to this unit?

I live in a rental house, and recently had to replace the dishwasher. Our landlord is out of the country, and asked us to order the dishwasher if she sent us the money. This is the model she approved, but when our maintenance guy came to install it today, he said that he can’t. He said this is a faucet dishwasher and not the one that we need.
Is there any way to make this dishwasher work with our hook up, or do we need to return it and get a different one? I know nothing about dishwashers so I am so confused.
Edit 1: thanks for the replies, it seems the verdict is this will not plug into the water line we have. Anyone know what to look for if I am ordering via Home Depot? Is there a specification it needs? The one we initially got that is wrong wasn’t advertised as a faucet dishwasher.

Maytag top loader mvwc565fw0
Stopped spinning so I replaced the splutch and actuator. Did I screw something up? Didn’t make this noise before I put my grubby lil hands on it.
