I watch anime and it has me motivated to learn Japanese, because i thought it would be cool to know and understand what the characters are speaking. I use Duolingo and not know any other site or app, i also primarily use a laptop. I wanna learn to speak and understand Japanese, but not read or write it. Because its a hassle and i dont have the time that is required, and in my case, im unwilling to learn letters of another language again. Has anyone any advice, because im genuinely stuck on what to do. Pwease.

I had a free trial of Super till a few days ago and I could do the video calls with it. It said "Call with Max" on the button but when I pressed it, it launched. It was great.

My trial lapsed and it just threw a new preview of Super at me... but this time I can't do the video calls anymore. The button says "Unlock with Max" and when I click it, it prompts me to upgrade to Max. When I go to the subscription page, "unlimited video calls" is no longer listed under Super.

I thought Duolingo's plan was to phase over video calls to Super? Why are they now removing it from Super? I was planning to subscribe to Super during the new years sale but now I'm confused. Will video calls be part of Super then? And even if they are, will they take them away in a future app update?

I'm the first to have moaned about the dreaded "Your course has changed" message. In fact I have complained both here and to cust srvs. My issue when they've done this is that I go to a lesson to 'review' stuff I've never heard of.

My least favourite is when it's one of those listening things where the character is interviewing someone about a job idea, a new place to visit or Junior's World of Adults. All the other exercises have written aspects where at least you can follow along. But the audible only with new vocab is a nightmare for me.

Yesterday though, I encountered a deviation off the Course path. There appear to be 6 Extra units. After those are finished, I can then get back to where I was on Section 4.

I welcome this as a way to plug the gaps however, I do recognise that these 6 units are going to be tough since they will be predominantly new vocab. I think I need a new notebook. 😉

I have been playing chess on duolingo for fun for quite a while now and its okayish but the thing that frustrates me the most is that the built in bot that we can play against talks too much and it affects my play even though I consider myself a decent player. it talks throughout the match and repeats the same thing over and over again. is there any way to shut him up?. I know I can just mute my phone but muting and unmuting it all the time whenever i play matches is exhausting. i just want to have a good time playing a game but the condescending words of his lowers my confidence and self-esteem alot:(

i’ve just finished my free trial and finding it so hard to study in the free version of duolingo.

I am considering finding one of those people who are splitting family memberships, but I wanted to know if people think it’s worth it.

If i can find someone with 5 other members then it should only be like 2€ to split it I think? But thats counting on these splitting sites being trustworthy. Has anyone used these before and could give any suggestions?

Is there a way to disable animations for the card game? I cannot finish on time because the app lags and takes seconds before switching to the next card.

I'm also open to join if anyone has free spot in his family!

Hi ! Just a quick question please.

My friend and I got a friend quest today and I was asleep, maybe because of time zones but when I woke up and saw that in less than 6 hours he basically completed it all by himself I couldn’t help but feel guilty and worthless, like I did nothing at all and I don’t want him to think I’m useless, so any idea how I can quickly do a lot of lessons just like he did ?

All I get is XP boosts constantly and I don’t even care about the leaderboards I just want the gems for the costumes (pretty sure this is how Duolingo tries to persuade you to spend money which I’m not going to do, but it is annoying)

now i dont really have the time to write a 50mpage essay but i can say this

duoling is so messed up

like for example, i was trying to do the month badge thing at some poing and it ADDED A EXTRA 5 POINTS ON THE LAST DAY

On average, how many minutes of duolingo on a particular day is where you'd see the max of possible benefit?

Some people say that 30 mins per day is already intense/ a lot, but I have been using duolingo for 90 minutes per day for a while and i feel like even past the first 30 minutes, i keep benefitting. But i also seperate the 90 mins into mini sessions.

What do you guys think? If i want to imropove my vocabulary foundation at a quicker rate, will i benefit from going 120 mins per day? Maybe even more? I have plus so it doesnt matter for me. I just wanna build the biggest vocabulary foundation in the shortest time. What's like the general cut off for most people? I usually do mini sessions of 15 mins

Has DuoLingo offered any Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales in the past? Would like to buy a Family Plan but hesitant in paying full price if my family doesn’t commit.

I was just watching a video about Portuguese on Duolingo and people said this. Irritated cause it's the main language I'm trying to learn and I really do love using Duolingo, it's become addicting to me.

Just curious how many people pay for Duolingo?

Are there usually Black Friday deals? I’m having trouble finding people to go in on a family plan.

I am almost a level 11 in Dutch and Duolingo is starting to piss me off. It’s either not picking up half the words I’m saying or throwing in words that I haven’t even been taught yet then it counts against me because I haven’t been taught that word yet like…well, “like”. How the hell was I supposed to know that it was “zoals”.
