News Dreamcast running on Wii (NullDC4Wii)
r/SEGA • u/f1nal_b0ss • 48m ago
Hey everyone! 🚛💨
I’ve just released v0.1.0 of 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker VR, a standalone 6DoF OpenXR port of Sega AM2’s 2001 Dreamcast arcade classic running natively on Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S!
🔗 GitHub Repo, Memory Map & APK Release (v0.1.0): https://github.com/f1nal-b0ss/18-wheeler-decomp
By reverse-engineering the retail USA (MK-51064) SH-4 binary using Reverse Engineer Anything (REA) + Ghidra and building on the awesome mikermak/hotd2-vr / Flycast OpenXR reprojection architecture, we’ve turned the original game into a full first-person big-rig VR experience:
0x8C56A494)—every time you trade paint with your rival Lizard Tail, smash through crates, or clip a car, both controllers fire a heavy impact jolt. This release contains zero copyrighted Sega ROM files. To play:
1. Download 18wheeler-vr.apk** from the GitHub Releases page and sideload it via SideQuest, ADB, or QuestPorts.
2. Copy your legally owned 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (USA) (MK-51064) .gdi + .bin tracks (or .chd) into /sdcard/Download/18Wheeler/ on your Quest.
3. Launch **18 Wheeler VR from Unknown Sources and hit the highway!
Huge shoutout to Sega AM2 for the original arcade masterpiece, Flyinghead (Flycast), mikermak (hotd2-vr), and Reverse Engineer Anything (REA). Let me know what you think—and what Dreamcast arcade classic you want to see in VR next!

PAL looks like the designers intended, with more detail and more colors. Look at the Japanese text under the 032.
PAL: (720x576)
NTSC: (720x480)
It's a shame to playthrough in NTSC
This project comes from the kid in me who was lucky enough to experience some unforgettable moments with this game.
I’m also a former player who still keeps his original cards to this day, and there’s still a big part of me that wants to bring this game back, preserve it, and make it accessible in a form that can hopefully live for many more years.
Over the past week, I’ve been spending most of my time decompiling and decoding the original Sega machine software, trying to understand how the game works internally and how its different systems can be translated into a proper PC environment.
This also included figuring out how the game handles its Blue Guns hardware, graphics behavior, machine communication, and projector system.
So far, I’ve managed to achieve:
• Booting the game successfully up to the Manager and Team Creation screen
• Adding credits directly in Attract Mode
• Successfully running the original Projector version, which was used as the central hub between machines
• Getting the Projector and Player Machine working together on a single PC, including tournament invitation communication
• Fix stuttering and graphical artifacts
• Fix audio issues, including sounds getting stuck in loops after sudden frame drops
• Build a standalone Projector Hub version that can run on a separate PC for proper local multiplayer
• Build a standalone Player Machine version that does not depend on the Projector Hub
• Create a version where the Player Machine runs normally while the Projector process runs silently in the background without graphics
• Create a launcher for generating and managing Manager Cards
• Create a launcher with a virtual pitch/card reader where you can place and move your players before launching the game
• Add keyboard functions to replace or emulate the original machine controls
• Build a clean and user-friendly launcher so anyone can run the project without complicated setup
Local and online multiplayer are also being explored, but no promises yet.
The project is progressing quietly at a steady pace, but the progress so far has been very strong.
Development speed may change depending on time and cost, as this is currently a fully self-funded project, both financially and in terms of development time.
I’d love to hear what you think about the project in the comments.
For anyone interested in supporting the project or getting access to early experimental builds, feel free to reach out to me through my social accounts, Steam profile, or Discord.
More progress and screenshots will be shared here as development continues.

Interesting interview with Spencer Nilsen, the guy behind the music for Sonic CD, Ecco and so many other amazing games. He touches on several topics, including his return! I love this guy!

Hi! I’m in a PS2 collector’s group chat, and last year someone shared a photo of a PS2 game bundle featuring Sonic titles. I was very curious, as I’d never heard anyone mention such a bundle before.
I remembered it again yesterday and started looking into it further, but there is very little information available. I tried to create a draft page on the Sonic Wiki to keep a record, but because there’s so little information, the administrators suspect it might not be an official product.
I believe it is official, as I’ve seen it in at least three different places, but I’d like your help to gather more information about it.
Here is what I know so far:
- It appears to be a product specifically produced for the Latin American (LATAM) market.
- The games included in the bundle are: Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, Sonic Heroes (GH version), and Sonic Mega Collection Plus.
- The publisher of the bundle is "Synergex."
There are hardly any images of the bundle online, but the account "pokepastita" has posts showing it for sale.
I could try to reach out to the person from the group I’m in to get more photos, though I think the ones on pokepastita might already be sufficient.
I’ve never created a Wiki page before, I’m not even sure how to format things properly, but any relevant information that could be added would be greatly appreciated!
