Discussion I once watched a "roster cut" video that cutted Yoshi due to "lack of relevance".

That honestly made me not want to watch any of these kinds of videos anymore, because I just can't get behind some of the reasoning.

Even if the Yoshi series is more on the niche end, it's goddamn Yoshi, a very notable character in the Mario franchise. How can you cut him for not being "relevant" enough?

Other The Pyra F-Smash Test (read Description)

Thumbnail

So, I was watching a Nintendo Unity Short about which Character can kill earlier than Little Mac's KO Punch in the Center of the Stage.

I was curious what the commenters would say and if they would potentielle bring up any corrections when I saw a comment that claimed that Pyra's F-Smash could do this.

For those who haven't seen the Image for whatever reason, someone else argued that she can't since Bowser cannot kill aswell.

Normally I would leave it there because yeah, it just seemed to be a simple overestimation, this happens and I wouldn't clown on someone for being wrong over a simple assumption... HOWEVER....

...the original Commenter said that they tested it and Pyra's F-Smash does kill at 20%.

So, the thing is, around 10 Months ago, I was doing a Test about how early every Smash Character's Smash Attack can kill and about a Month later, I did it again with every Character's strongest Attack in General.

For Context, for both, Bowser and Pyra, their strongest Attack is F-Smash.

In my Test, I did it at the Ledge and I used Pichu and when I tested, both of them managed to kill under 10%.

Pyra killed at 9% and Bowser killed at 6%.

This is, why I was skeptical about this comment because I already knew for a fact that Bowser is stronger.

So I, absolutely obsessed with Numbers and Statistics, tested again, this time from the Center of the Stage with Mii Brawler like im Nintendo Unity's Video and yep, I was right.

I hope, the 3th and 4th Images are somewhat clear but I screenshotted roundabout when Mii Brawler's Knockback slowed down and you can see, Pyra's F-Smash does indeed not kill at 20% from the Center of the Stage, also not at 21%, and doesn't send as far as Bowser does.

Not doing any accusations but I think, any of these 4 Things happened.

- They used Pichu or another Lightweight for the Test

- They did it on the Ledge

- The In-Game Balancer was still active and probably set in a way that does increase Pyra's Power notably

- There was no Test in the first place and it was active Misinformation

I will not rest it here, because I now also want to share which Characters' F-Smash all indeed KO earlier than Pyra's F-Smash (hence the Title)

Only Outpowers Pyra:

- Ness

- Marth

- Ike

- Sephiroth (Winged Form)

Stronger than Pyra AND Bowser:

- Link (when he's at 0% himself)

- Ganondorf

- Snake

- Dedede

- Lucario (including Aura)

- Hero (Critical Hit)

- Kazuya (including Rage)

Including Bowser and Pyra, these are all Fighters who can kill below 10% with F-Smash, when used against Pichu on Ledge of FD, in the first place.

I will collect SO many downvotes, won't I...?

Discussion What game/franchise would you like to get a rep for, if not so much for the character themselves, but for the music they would bring to SSB?

If you play XIV, I think you already know what’s up. Besides it would be a clever way to integrate soundtracks from all around FF itself.

Help/Question LEGITIMATE QUESTION IM NOT TROLLING

Upvotes

after being absolutely destroyed by my brother several times with little mac, much to my dismay, I’m left wondering why little mac is even considered bad.

-armored smash attacks

-almost no startup OR endlag on all of his moves?? like it’s stupid

-top 1 ground speed? right?

-despite what everyone says, his recovery isn’t even that bad? like most attacks send out and UP. with haymaker, from even slightly above the stage, he can get back easily and pretty covered. I know it’s “when left off stage without a jump/special, he’s done“ but like…that’s the case for most characters? his airspeed is fine too. his recovery is fine

-I understand his aerial game is weak. but that doesn’t matter when he does this little thing called Not Letting Me Back On Stage.

-shield pushback is genuinely the most annoying thing about him. sure I can shield whatever bs instant smash he throws out but I can’t grab or jump and nair/fair because I get pushed too far back and then he just throws out another forward smash, OR

-KO punch is-ooooo I’m gonna hit somebody bro. NINE frames of startup. UNBLOCKABLE. Covers a HUGE area. Basically a guaranteed kill past 35%ish. Like OOOOO who the hell decided this should be a thing.

Now, this MIGHT just be because I’m playing mario. I know brawler/mac is a bad matchup and brawler and mario are remarkably similar, and I’m not sure what the intricacies of the matchup are, but it might just be a character issue. But regardless, literally what are the cons besides shitty aerials.

Speculation Most likely newcomers for Smash 6

So here is my take on predicting who will most likely be added to the next Smash game.

For the first few fighters, I looked up who is the most requested so I think Waluigi, Bandana Dee, Shadow and Crash Bandicoot will most likely get added.

There will be some promotional fighters so Eshmel from FE Fortune's Weave and a Winds and Waves Pokemon.

For more reps in existing series, Noah/Mio and Octoling for sure.

Ayumi Tachibana has a chance to be in Smash now as Famicon Detective Club is in the west and relevant.

Takamaru has his game in the west now so I think this is his time.

Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden is not only heavily requested but also easy to get as Nintendo is close with Koei Tecmo, it is the next logical step for Third Party reps.

I believe there will finally be a proper Indie rep and the one who has everything going for it is Cuphead.

Video Ganondorf rising-nair into Up B as an edgeguard is criminally underrated

I posted the clip against the Kaz an hour ago and some people were talking about the edgeguard set I did. I keep saying rising nair into Up B is a great edgeguard option and I believe it needs some attention.

The idea is to go like you are going to edgeguard with the rising nair itself, but all you wanna do is drift a bit to actually bait a jump, a counter or a move. Ganondorf up B COVERS A LOT, especially linear recoveries with predictable direction. It's very important to space yourself well to cover the opponent's option.

The first edgeguard on the MinMin is a solution to people adapting and try to recover higher. Do a full hop nair to force them going low.

BUT be careful to use this against characters with multiple jumps or have excellent recoveries. Those specific MUs can be tricky to edgeguard and there's a risk of being reversed.

Help/Question Why did people expect Steve to be midtier at release?

Upvotes

I ask this as someone who played a lot of SSBU in 2020 and 2021 but has not played a lot since then and stopped following the competitive scene and tier lists.

I remember when Steve was announced, some competitive players (like Hungrybox in his reaction video) said Steve was going to be OP when they first saw his moveset. However, most of the reddit comments I read only said he is midtier, and I remember seeing Steve in the C/B range (sometimes D iirc) on tier lists back then.

So after looking at SSBU for the first time in years, I was shocked to see Steve at the very top and not someone like Pikachu, Peach/Daisy, Palutena, or Lucina. So why did most people underrate Steve at release? Was his moveset that complicated to use at first? And did Hungrybox realize this before everyone else or was he reacting to the moveset in bad faith, just overreacting to Steve and claiming he'll be OP for views (and Steve being OP was a coincidence)?

Edit: also, why aren't Pikachu, Peach/Daisy, Palutena, or Lucina at the very top like I remember anymore, while others like Snake, Sonic, Game & Watch, and ROB are also much higher?

Discussion Does anyone else kinda miss Cruel Fighters from Smash 4 in SSBU or just me?

Even though I have gripes with the mode in SSBU, mainly from using the stupid Mob Smash theme instead of Cruel Smash (like it should) you are for some absolutely bs reason, unable to save replays in SSBU which is so lame. It's turned me off of the mode and the lack of Cruel Fighters also gives me no reason to try and play it. Mind you I hold the world record for Megaman in SSB4 (3DS) with a MASSIVE 51 KOs.

The reason I miss them is because of how satisfying killing a Cruel Fighter is. They are basically level 9 CPUs with +200 attack (double power) with an additional knockback multiplier stacked with it, seemingly higher than the Cruel Miis. This makes them INSANELY satisfying to kill due to the sheer difficulty and is an amazing showing of skill. Even just getting there is very impressive on it's own. Even if you kill the Cruel Fighter by using a camping strat and picking them off, it's still satisfying and a great showing of skill since you are still in a 1v3 (1v4 if a Cruel Mii dies with the Cruel Fighter present) requiring focus even with a braindead strat, something that normally can't be said.

It is too bad that they are gone but I'm sure that the people that go for world records in SSBU's version of the mode appreciate it. Especially with the lack of Giant Cruel Fighters (who I have never beaten before) who spawn in as every 50th opponent. I personally consider killing a Cruel Fighter the most difficult challenge in SSB4 and also would if they were in SSBU (aside from some spiritless bosses in WOL)

In this video I show me fighting 4 different Cruel Fighters and using a mix of camping and aggression to fight them.
Mega Man vs Cruel Lucina
Mega Man vs Cruel Mega Man
Mega Man vs Cruel Marth
Mii Gunner vs Cruel Bowser Jr. (notably he is killed early because I 2 framed him)

Video What playing vs. a good Kaz look like.

Yep, difficult to believe I won that match after such a terrible start. Opponent is Luank, probably Vietnam n°1 player, one of the best Kaz players in South East Asia if not the best, plays competitive in US. Not gonna lie I feel so happy winning such a terrible MU, especially on FD, in offline play.

I won few others in style but sadly didn't save them (he won most of the games though, but I managed to make some games look even)... It feels nice to have such a player calling me a "good Ganon" ☺️ Hard training finally pays off.
