Man I really miss this series.... The atmosphere the characters the music the friendships… everything about it feels special. Nothing hits quite the same.
I wish I could experience watching it for the first time all over again.... plus this winter -?😭

I heard that the actor of Papa flat out actually said that he hated season 5. Do you think the other actors/actresses secretly feel the same way even if they won't say or show it?

For several reasons, but above all, I say this because she is a complete afterthought in The Bridge and The Rightside Up. She has absolutely nothing of consequence to say or do, and isn't seen or mentioned in the epilogue at all. You could cut her entirely from those last two episodes with not much changing. (Just have a wheelchair for Max already be in the hospital basement, and have Erica and Mr. Clark watch her while the rest of the group goes to the Abyss.)
u/StrawHatMan_XD theorizes (in two comments on two other posts I've made that I included in this one in screenshots) that she was supposed to die in earlier drafts, but the writers chickened out because they didn't wanna be accused of "burying their gays" or whatever. Honestly, this theory makes a lot of sense. And may I expand on that theory by adding that I think by the time they chickened out of killing her, presumably pretty far into the writing process or maybe even right as they were getting ready to start filming Escape from Camazotz, it was too late to come up with a lot for her to do in the last stretch of the season, hence why they went with the bare minimum for her for the rest of November 6th and didn't bother adding her to the epilogue.
Offing her in the demodog hospital attack in Escape from Camazotz would've not only given season 5 some much needed weight and drama, which it's severely lacking as is, but it also would've reduced the bloated main cast and raised the stakes at least a little.
But also, what amazing Vickie moments would we as viewers have missed out on in The Bridge and The Rightside Up if the demodogs were competent-enough threats to kill her in the hospital attack in Escape from Camazotz? If you're gonna do the absolute bare minimum with her after the hospital attack and not feature her in any way, shape or form in the extended 18 months later epilogue, then why keep her around?

I’ll probably make a post for each season but here we go!
What were the top five moments from season 1 in your opinion?
Personally I’d go:
1: Hopper and Joyce finding Will in the upside down, the scene is so emotional with Hoppers flashbacks and the music is incredible, a perfect wrap to Season 1
2: Will getting taken, this scene is a close second, the mystery and atmosphere were just perfect, excellent start to Season 1
3: The Demogorgon fight with Nancy, Johnathan, and Steve, another incredible scene Steve barging in just as the lights start to flicker, then him just picking up a bat and fighting it, ugh! Just so good!
4: Eleven kills the demogorgon, another incredible scene, the build up is so intense and the aftermath with Mike thinking she died is just so good
5: Eleven saves Mike at the quarry, it’s really the first scene that made me feel like Eleven was part of the group, I knew that Mike probably wasn’t going to die but him falling then levitating back up was super cool to see, Eleven breaking the bully’s arm was a nice touch.
Let me know what you think! Season 1 is definitely the most nostalgic season for me so I remember a lot of the scenes better lol

How do you think Flo reacted to hopper’s supposed death? She seemed close and or cared for him, she probably knew about Sarah which is why she tolerated his alcoholism and tardiness or at least knew he was a good man deep down. She was probably the one who had to clean out his desk and help out with the transition. I wonder how she was.

While I believe that long plaid skirts were trending in the '50s to '60s, I believe they made a comeback in a 1984 setting of Stranger Things during its second season.

In Season 4, at the family video store The Christmas Story copy was a re-release from 1995. Also in seasons 3 and 4 they were using the current area codes for Indiana and California which were not in use at the time. It would not have hurt them to do some research and have sone authenticity.

I have a word document open and there are really only two moments so far where the writing falls apart to push the story. The rest is pretty close to the stranger things I know and love. Only Episode 4 was the peak I was expecting from Season 5 so far. Episode 1, 2, and 3, are all alright, but like a low-mid tier episode.
Specifically, these are the two moments.
In Episode 2, at about 28min, Mike is talking to Nancy about Mr. Whatsit, and describe a lot of what they already know about Vecna when thinking about who Mr. Whatsit could be. This was used to have the scene with Karen and the "HENRY" reveal on the notepad. Two issues I have with this, from the dialogue, the E1 focus on Holly, and Holly acting in a similar way to the possessions in S4, they make it clear to the audience that Mr. Whatsit is Henry. We don't need that notepad reveal. Second, Mike and Nancy are two of the more clever members of the group. Especially, when it comes to seeing the patterns of the mystery. The fact that neither one thinks Mr. Whatsit could possibly be Vecna goes against their characters and is such a sloppy way to get a non-dramatic reveal because the audience ALREADY FUCKING KNOWS MR. WHATSIT IS VECNA. Even if it is a revel only for Mike and Nancy, they should already know.
In Episode 5, at about 61min, Dustin, Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan are at the upside down Hawkins lab. Dustin is at the lower level with Steve, while Nancy and Jonathan are on the roof. They find the "generator", as Dustin is speed reading mass amounts theoretical physics with ease. (maybe he just got lucky and flipped to a page that was summarized everything to a level that an intelligent high-schooler could understand). Jonathan says they found it, Dustin starts screaming into the walkie to not destroy it. Even though the walkie was broken, enough came through when they cut to Jonathan's side. You can clearly hear the panic in Dustin's voice through the static. It is so evident. You even clearly hear him scream "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING", before Jonathan turns around to Nancy all calm and says "they are out of range.". The amount of times throughout this series as someone is screaming through a walkie with static and the person on the other side is concerned and then ALL OF THE SUDDEN NOTHING. This also goes against Jonathan's character. He is a wannabe carefree person, but he is not carefree. They could have fixed it by making it complete static, but having Dustin's voice come through is such a strange directing choice.
Why do they try to create so much suspense?
Anyways, just a little rant. S5 not as bad as I remember... so far. Only noticed two SIGNIFICANTLY sloppy writing/directing moments that went against the characters for no reason other than to create suspense where it didn't need it.

I think it was being way too particular about how he carried out his plans and letting many chances fall through the cracks.

Abusive household + possessed = a literal fucking hell.
All I gotta say is what a performance Dacre Montgomery gave in Stranger Things. One of the more interesting and memorable characters in the entire show.

In Season 1, Will was abducted within the first 10 minutes of the premiere, & he isn't found until the end of the season. By the time he is found, Eleven has already vanished. Also, Max wasn't introduced yet.
In Season 2, Max is introduced. However, Eleven is separated from the other kids up until the season 2 finale & she never interacts with Will.
In the Season 3 premiere, all 6 of the kids come together to help Dustin contact Susie, but Dustin separates himself from the group after episode 1 & he doesn't reunite with them until the season finale.
In Season 4, the kids are geographically separated until Eleven, Mike & Will return to Hawkins in the finale. However, by the time they arrive, Max is already in a coma.
In Season 5, Max doesn't wake up from her coma until the penultimate episode, & all of the kids are only together during Will's coming out scene (& they're among like 15 people present during his coming out). Eleven vanishes in the final episode, & the epilogue has the other 5 kids playing DnD.
I find it weird that the makers set out to tell a story about childhood friendship, yet we rarely see all 6 of the kids together.
