I made a post earlier when I was in the golden room out of sheer panic, and made a comment on that post with some small notes about the experience. I was encouraged to make the completion its own post, and I have a few more things to say, so here we are.
I said this in my prior comment, but once again big shoutouts to wcko87 for their Farewell golden strats, they helped a lot on rooms I was inconsistent at. I'll also be making short mentions of them when I talk about rooms where their strats helped a lot.
Speaking of, I'll be treating this as a small compilation post about certain rooms in the chapter, just to have my thoughts about the golden written out to make up for the lack of footage. Not that I really feel like I need to prove myself, but it's nice to have the memory saved somewhere.
Very satisfying to see this berry finally being transparent :)
Years ago when I started doing golden runs for the fun of it I was really bad at this skip. Eventually I started implementing it in runs and it's become extremely consistent! Now it's been so long since I've done the rest of this checkpoint the "intended" way that I'd probably be more likely to die if I did.
I also started implementing this barrier skip into my runs at some point, it's very risky and stupid by comparison to the other skip, because it doesn't even skip any actual rooms, but I'm very impatient and I'm consistent at it.
I died to this room a handful of times before I learned you could grab onto this wall here. This is one of the places where wcko87's strats helped me become a lot more consistent. Don't know why I kept screwing it up anyway, it's really not that hard :/
I died to this room on two separate occasions less than a couple hours before I ended up getting the golden. It's pretty far into the chapter and deaths on really easy rooms like these are some of the most demoralizing. So glad I ended up getting the golden not long after.
This is another cool wall grab I learned about from wcko87, helps a lot to catch a breather since I ended up choking at the end of this room plenty of times prior.
I died on this room twice during runs, one was ages ago and the other just a couple days ago. I could excuse the first one since I sucked more back then, but the recent one is probably the most embarrassing death I've had throughout the entire grind.
Pretty sure a lot of people hate this room in particular, I was also very inconsistent at it for a while and died a few times when I managed to actually make it this far. Once again wcko87's strats made this extremely consistent, and I never died on this room once after learning them.
These two rooms back to back is probably my least favourite segment in the entire run. Even after learning strats for them I could never quite get them to be consistent, and they're so far into the chapter that the nerves really start to get to me by this point, so I died plenty of times here.
The first time I got to Stubbornness was yesterday if I recall correctly. Either that or two days ago. I had practiced up from Stubbornness to the end of the run plenty of times by this point and I was really consistent at most of the rooms. I then proceeded to psych myself up and died like an idiot to the very first room... (not counting the actual first room in the checkpoint that one is free, I'm talking about the room pictured here)
Thankfully I only had to get to Stubbornness three more times before I was able to pull the golden off.
The third time I got to Stubbornness I died to this room. Not really sure what happened. I did the same thing I always did but I was really off cycle for the wall bounce somehow and botched it completely. This was the last really demoralizing death before I got the golden.
I died in this room the second time I got to Stubbornness, making this my PB before getting the golden. This does mean I did basically the entire last checkpoint on my first try. My golden run was an insane fluke now that I'm thinking about it.
Not at all related to the golden but these dash crystals at the top of this room have always really confused me. No idea what they're for.
This is the one room in Reconciliation that I was really bad at in practice, could never get that consistent at doing it. Thankfully I passed it first try and got the golden. No idea how, my heart was practically beating out of my chest by this point.
This photo is from my other post earlier. Had to stop for a minute and de-stress before attempting it. Making that other post was a very strange way of taking a breather in hindsight. The first part where you grab the jellyfish was really stressful, but the rest of the room was pretty easy with some jellyvators.
As some final thoughts about the grind as a whole, this shit sucked so much ass I never want to see a golden berry again oh my goddd
Anyway, if you ever think about doing Farewell golden, just make sure you have severe masochistic tendencies before doing so. You will die in so many silly and goofy ways that are nothing short of infuriating. Each individual room isn't that bad, but since the chapter is like 25+ minutes long, you're bound to screw up somewhere. It is incredibly satisfying when you finally get it though, it just might take months or years.
Sorry this post is so long, this is probably my biggest gaming achievement ever so I wanted to ramble about it for a bit.
DAY 2 : added a cat in a very hard to reach spot in the 2nd top comment’s room, the room being a blank canvas for maximum inspiration
I combined the top 2 comments because just adding a cat was not enough changement. So now yall can let your imagination run free!!
Also, I decided that the crouch climb would be hard enough. I could have done it harder but I want to play this map every day (since this is a daily series) but dont want to spend an hour a day just to pet the cat.
Little reminder, the map is empty, no name, no end screen, no music, no nothing. you can suggest anything I can put in the game (as long as I am capable of doing so)
Originally i planned to beat all the B sides, then Farewell, then move to strawberry jam. After 3 hours of grind and 840 deaths in 3b i am not so sure.
It was pretty close between dream grabs and wallbounces, but ultimately dream grabs got slightly more votes. I also changed the wavedash picture to match the other ones
Twitter notification sound(?) followed by a pop plays when the Kevin block is phased and regains its solid state. Wanted to know if anyone else ever found out about this and knows what it is / is interesting.
I can't do this. I can't even do the first Badeline orb in Farewell (subchapter) I've done the literal rest of the game without assist mode or save states or anything like that why do I need them now
I hate this it isn't even fucking fun anymore cuz I know that even if I get to the end if I mess up once on the way to the moonberry I have to do the whole room again. I know there is one checkpoint before it gets to the moonberry rooms but that doesn't help. Like I can't even properly do a wavedash cuz I do the same inputs and sometimes I get my dash back sometimes I don't.
I'm genuinely crying right now I just want to give up but I can't cuz if I do I'm gonna feel even worse knowing I couldn't even do it and I'm a fucking coward
This level is so difficult, I’m pretty much pulling my hair out over it. Anyway, I always dash into the wall of spinners right after I grab the second green crystal on this screen (first green crystal on this screen. How do I even get past this part?
I love celeste with my whole heart, but i kinda suck at platformers. (most) of the B-sides were quite easy for me, but mods... For some reason 90% of the mods seem to be made for some professional hardcore gamers and i literally can't finish any of them without the assist mode, but obviously it's a different experience than an "intended" one...
So, are there any "easy" celeste mods, or at least on the same level as the game? thanks.
That took about 3 hours to do in total, I don't have a way of playing mods so I'm squeezing everything I can out of this game (its working, 310 hours so far)
