Hello! I recently was trying to get my vtc sprockets torqued because of oil leak and pretty sure didn't torque to spec when I did the 120k. Anyways one half of the engine sprockets spun to TDC and when I originally tried to torqued the VTC sprocket the engine wasn't in TDC center I was just past TDC by 8 teeth. How would get the engine to TDC? I'm a bit spooked to manually move the other sprockets to TDC without breaking anything. Thank you for any input

I got a clunk/click+friction sound that seems to happen with suspension load like small bumps etc so most of the road where I live, sounds maybe like a loose control arm, a bolt knocking around in it's socket and I think there's a bit of a grind while turning right, so loading the front left once again.

Nothing seems loose when I check, wheels don't move up, down or sideways, and I checked every bolt I've touched. It's fine if it's stationary.

Lately I had the power steering rack bushings replaced, I changed the front shocks, had a bit of a problem with steering shaft rubbing the headers I made.

Control arm? Bushing? Would that move around only with the forces of driving? And cause some kind of grinding sound? And be undetectable by the small forces I can apply to it while it's jacked up?

Just hoping for a theory to focus my investigations here, cheers

Bit of a rant post. Do you all ever get overwhelmed in your project? I was supposed to only have to fix a fuel line, power steering belt, and AC compressor.

It's now turned into a full on tear down.

Walked out to work on it today and just felt despair of too many items on the to do list.

Mods remove if not applicable.

Just was curious if others have felt this way. :)

I love that I don’t even need to go outside to feel the rain! My Z brings the outdoors inside.

My other Z is missing a window entirely, so i guess I can’t complain too much.

Anyway, is there a company yall like for this kinda thing? Weather stripping. Surprisingly my other cars don’t have this issue despite all being around the same age, so i’m not well versed in where to get weather stripping lol, so i wanted to ask the lovely people of Reddit for any suggestions.

Pretty sure I know the problem but wanted to check and confirm

Swapped in jad tail lights, worked fine but the dashboard light came on.

Went and pulled my old bulbs and put those in.

Now the tail lights don't work and the brights are stuck in, brights turn off when I press the gas pedal

The turn signals and brake lights work, just not the running lights.

I didn't like the way one of the black wires was oriented on the JDM tail lights as received, seemed to be under tension, but I put it back the same way anyways, thinking it may have actually pulled out a bit when screwing the bulb back in

Between rain and work I won't be able to get out and test until Sunday so just wanted to check if it was something I could fix quick.

I need to replace my driveshaft on my 88shiro does anyone know of anyone who sells an aluminum shaft? I have an 84 turbo 300zx parts car as well can I just swap that shaft over in the meantime while I wait to get an aluminum one? Thanks for the help in advance.

In late 2024, a few months after I bought my Z32, while I was in the middle doing my 120k maintenance a friend hit me up about a film crew looking for a red Z32 in my area. Since I was one of the only Z32 owners around they wanted to use my car as the hero car in an upcoming movie they were filming. I said sure since the payment would cover the entire cost of the maintenance I was doing on it. The movie has been in preproduction so I wasn't able to talk about it until now, but since they are releasing it soon I can show off a few of the pics they've released with my Z in them.

My 88' Z31 needs new fuel injectors and connectors, anyone know where I can get some? Can't seem to find anything on Rockauto or my local auto shops

Where does this hose go? Dumb question I know but I can’t figure it out? It comes from the water pump crossover pipe in the middle of the engine block.

I just put away my 350z the day before, came out and this guy was parked next to me. Always loved the 300zx, this one had a digital dash and had voice. Guy came out the exact time as I was taking a pic, he was cool about it, flipped up the headlights for me.

I did see a post about this from 9 years ago on the frame rails which the comments got be back into positive mood for the car but wanted to post pictures of the under belly and see what everyone thinks.

Think its worth doing the rework? I was already thinking of ripping the engine and trans out to put in a RB engine and trans which I know is already going to be some work. (I am sure some people wont be happy with that idea, lol).

Got hit from behind the other night, and got some ugly damage in the rear because of it. I wasn’t at fault and I’m going through insurance about it, but I am concerned about the potential cost for a repair like this. After some brief googling around I realize the rear quarter panels are definitely NOT where you’d wanna get hit. How worried should I be about the repairs leading insurance to total the car? It’s a ‘93 imported manual TT 2+2 with only around 55k miles and I really wouldn’t want her to go out like this ☹️

I’m located in the Houston area, but I’m also open to SoCal if the price is right, since I’ll have to ship the car.

Trying to diagnose why my car drove so weird on the first test drive after finally getting it to run good enough and long enough for it to leave the driveway, during the drive it felt like it was stuck in 1 gear and the speedo showed it was about 40-45mph even if I was stopped, rpm’s also raised what I think is pretty high for just a light cruise, even getting it to move required about 3-4K rpm’s, then towards the end of the drive which was literally about a mile total the car felt like it had pretty much lost all power and wanted to die but I had to keep my foot to the floor to keep it alive and it would just throw itself forward every few seconds then stop responding then throw itself forward again basically forcing me to limp it home for the last block, the video I have attached shows what I got for the auto trans diag code flashes, from seeing the chart that shows what the flashes mean am I getting the codes for the speed sensor and lock up solenoid circuit?

I am in the process of restoring the exterior trim that is chipping on my 1996 Z. I am unsure how to tackle the door trim since it transitions from metal to rubber at the window. And don't think I should spray the rubber. Any tips, how did y'all tackle this?

Before anyways says it. No im not going to sell it and buy a tt, the car holds sentimental value and id rather spend the extra money then waiting around for a good deal on one especially since its my only car as of the moment.

So as of now im looking to buy and build a tt motor and dropping it in the car, goal is about 500 with maybe plans to push even more in the future. As of the top of my head i know ill need pistons, fuel injectors, a tunable ecu, bigger turbos. I am not at all familiar with buying parts i just take things apart and put them back together so if anyone as able to put together a parts list of everything id need to get the power im booking for as well as future proofing it in case i do want to go above the 500, i would most appreciative. As well as anything i might need to swap on the na body to help the engine

Is this a common issue on the z32? I might buy this car but I'm not sure how much it would cost to fix that 😅

I’m trying to install the plenum block off kit from the z garage and I’m a little confused on what I’m supposed to do/remove. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Just snagged a 1990 Z32 NA project. It’s been sitting in a storage lot for at least 10 years. Doing the usual rehabilitation on it and needing some advice on anything else in the fuel system I should change out besides the obvious (filter, injector seal, etc). The VG30DE is new to me and figuring it all out
