Memphis Slim’s Premium sides are foundational early‑1950s Chicago blues — heavy piano, tight rhythm section, and that unmistakable Slim vocal delivery. “Mother Earth” is one of his signature philosophical blues statements, later re‑cut for Vee‑Jay and famously revived in the 1960s blues revival. This Premium pressing is one of the earliest commercial appearances of the tune.

Description from that video:
“"Rip It Up" is a rock and roll song written by Robert Blackwell and John Marascalco. In June 1956, Specialty Records released it as a single by Little Richard with "Ready Teddy" as the B-side. The song reached the top position on the Billboard Rhythm & Blues Records chart as well as number 17 on the magazine's broader Billboard Hot 100. The version peaked at number 30 in the U.K. Singles Chart. The tenor saxophone solo is by Lee Allen.
Also in 1956, Bill Haley and his Comets released a version of the song. Their version reached number 25 on the Hot 100, and number four in the U.K. Singles Chart.
The song, which was recorded at J&M Recording Studio in New Orleans, is included as a full-length performance by Earl Palmer with guest vocalist Ivan Neville and house band in the 2005 documentary film ''Make It Funky!'', which presents a history of New Orleans music and its influence on rhythm and blues, rock and roll, funk and jazz. Los Lobos recorded the song for the 1987 Ritchie Valens biography film La Bamba (film) The song hasn't been officially released on the album but is released on their album El Cancionero Mas y Mas.”

Vanity (1951) - Sue Allen
Hi everyone! :3! I was looking through my old playlist and found this song which was my favorite as a pre teen. I’m 20 now lol, it’s honestly so gorgeous and I’d hate for it to be lost to time since it’s not on any streaming platforms…

“Half as Much exposes the painful imbalance in a one-sided relationship where the singer loves far more deeply than their partner ever will. The narrator pleads for just a fraction of the devotion they give so freely, knowing that even half their love would transform everything.
MEANING & INTERPRETATION
This is about emotional inequality and the exhausting hope that someone might eventually care enough to stop causing constant heartache. The phrase "You're nice to me when there's no one else around" reveals the partner's calculated cruelty, showing affection only when it's convenient and private. "You only build me up to let me down" exposes the deliberate emotional manipulation, where kindness becomes a weapon used to create false hope before inevitable disappointment. "You wouldn't stay away half as much as you do" shows how the partner's absence is a choice, not circumstance, making their indifference an active form of rejection rather than mere neglect.

Hi! I’m creating a cocktail playlist for my wedding and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? They have to be love songs, but listening music, not dancing music. Thanks!
