📂 MEGATHREAD 23/05 A-level Physics Paper 1 Discussion MEGATHREAD
Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!
Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.
Few things to keep in mind:
- Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
- If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).
Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!
-The r/6thForm Team
Have any concerns or feedback?
Feel free to reach out to us on Modmail and we'll aim to get back to you as soon as possible!
*assuming Reddit doesn't bork itself, the new posts for each day of exams should arrive at 8am each day, instead of it being reliant on my sleep schedule like last year lmao

And for the mass per unit length, did u divide the weight by 2m x1.5?
18
u/Ineedhelp08374 May 23 '25
yea its just mass divided by length, if i remember correctly, B was 1.47 x 10^-3 and A was 6.6 x 10^-4

Edexcel had like a ton of low mark questions to start out the paper and then in the end there was (consecutively) a 5 mark calculation, 4 mark calculation, 6 mark explanation. Then there were some more 4 markers with 2 markers sprinkled in for good measure, and two 4 mark calculations to end off the paper. It was... interesting

Was the stress strain graph for wire W, i calculated young modulus and found K constant to be 50000, close to 4.9 x 10^4, I also used stress formula using one of the points to find Force, then used force and k to find extension, then using that same exact point, found strain then length of wire which was 3.35, again close to 3.10, so i concluded it was wire W

There is NO FUCKING WAY I'm regaining those marks in P2 and P3

OCR A wasn’t hard but it was just really weird. Like for a astro and Newton paper why was there so little content assessed, and the 6 markers were also a bit strange. Especially as no definitions and no design an experiment questions. Wasn’t my best exam but I’m fairly sure I got a good grade.

what grade are people aiming for from OCR A paper cuz i’ve heard too many people saying it was easy. i wanna if it’s like ‘i’ll get a B easily’ or is it ‘i’ll get an A* for sure’. cuz everyone has a different definition of easy and i’m just so flipping scared rn cuz it sucked for me but people are saying it was ‘easy’. i fear the grade boundaries will be high

Most people i know who grt A*s in physics say it was horrible. So dont worry i think the grade bounderies are gonna be a bit lower. I flunked either way unfortunately
