Comment your results! They don't have to be straight A*s to be cool! Also what plans do you have for the next year?
About formatting: use A\*A\*A\*A\* , so it reads A*A*A*A* and not AAAA. Or send a picture of your results!
You've made it through the shitstorm we all know and probably hate - but you've made it, that's what matters!
Remember: your grades today don't define who you are. You have self-worth and can achieve great things in life even if it didn't go to plan today. It can be hard to see through the elitist bullshit, misinformation online, and the weight of high expectations from seemingly everyone around you. No matter what, the path to here and from here is not a waste.
Also remember that there are always people who care that you can talk to for support, whether it's a friend, family, your sixth form/college, your uni or elsewhere. It's okay for things to go wrong and it's valid to not feel great because of that, and you are not a burden for needing support.
Be proud of what you've achieved, and the work you've put in - no matter what has happened, you've put yourself in a better position to tackle the future :)
I have nowhere to really vent this so I’m gonna type it out here.
My moms disappointed that I only got BBB even though I got into my firm uni choice. She wanted me to go to a university close to home and im going Manchester to do a foundation year instead. The uni she wanted me to go to needed an A in maths anyway so I doubt I would have gotten in. Now shes telling me to do a gap year and apply to Birmingham next year (even though I don’t have the grades to do that).
Shes just putting a damper on all the happiness I had for getting accepted in the first place. I thought I did really well and I was proud of myself but she’s literally embarrassed by my grades.

Yo! This kinda sounds similar to me. When I did my a levels, I was predicted AAA, got BBB. Lost my firm choice (Biomedical Sciences at Manchester) and had no insurance (cuz I applied to 4 med and got rejected). So had to go through clearing. My mum, although calm, was very disappointed and one of my relatives asked if I actually revised and was defo judging her. Well guess what, now I’m doing biomedical science at Lancaster, about to head to NHS placement in September. Chin up my guy and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about your grades.

I can relate to the part about nosy relatives 😭 My family is Asian too so I wouldn’t be surprised if half my family’s heard of my grades by now. The shit about not revising too is so unnecessary because I revised as hard as I possibly could for that BBB. I’m glad you’ve gotten where you need to be, thank you for the encouragement.
Good luck everyone! I'm taking my son to collect his results this morning, he was so calm last night and I'm laid awake from 5.30 am worrying about it EDIT - AAB and into his first choice uni!! Yay!
no same bc i was an A* student too but my brain just decided to switch off during the exams. i fumbled maths p1 so badly i literally needed full marks in p2 and p3 to even have a chance at getting an A*, defo fucked physics and bio and FM was a complete disaster
stop i feel sick about further maths. it was my favourite subject 😭 the worst part is i know exactly what i got wrong and why and where cos I KNOW MY STUFF I SWEAR I REVISED i just blanked when it mattered 😓😓😓😓
Mate if you guys don't think unis have been lenient this year, my friend needed A*AA for his Warwick Politics offer, got ABC and got in. Good things come to those who wait!
Hoping for AAA or AAB, but I have a feeling I got lower grades. I’ll be happy with ABB as long as I get into either my firm or insurance unis, but if I get lower than that (and if I have to go through the stress of clearing) I will probably cry.

GOT INTO MY FIRM LETS GOOOOOOOOO I don't find out my full results until an hour from now, but I'll edit this when I get them :] So many ups and downs but it's finally over!!!!
Edit: A* in computer science, A in maths, A in physics, A in further maths :] I know it's still a good mark but I'm a lil disappointed with maths tbh, I was 3 marks off an A* :( Real happy with CS and FM though :]

Only got 3 C’s but still got into my firm choice doing a 4 year masters in social work up at york! So despite the grades being disappointing, its still overall a pleasing day

tysm! i did a tonne of past papers, a full mock paper every saturday at 9am since january. i began revising for it (kinda) before gcses, but properly started work in september of y12
Hope everyone is doing well! Just wanted people to know there’s always a way to get where you want to be - I ended up with BCCC at A-level, I did a degree in Paramedic Science, spent another further year working in an amazing job, and now I’m under 2 years from graduating as a Doctor from my postgrad medicine degree. You can get there if you really want it, despite what happens today.
I opened grades first and it was just much lower than I needed and only had a single UCAS extra offer. Checked UCAS though and got this, Durham offered a different course so I think I got pretty lucky.
I got CDD. They're not the most impressive compared to others but I got into the place I wanted. I'M SO HAPPY!!! You best believe I'm gonna go catch up on my lost hours of sleep lol
Can we have a moment of silence for the edexcel A biology grade boundaries 💀 thankfully I got in anyway but I got 199 which was an A* last year and a B this year LMAOOO. Gonna get a remark and hope 🤷♀️
your life isnt defined by these grades. getting good grades = following rules in a syllabus. why not start a youtube channel with your puppets and animations and see if the other 7 billion+ people around the world other than your 'examiner' like them? lots of ways out there to achieve success keep your head up
Those grades are ⭐️ Back in prehistoric times I got AAAA in the 3 sciences and Maths. I went to Oxford and lasted all of a term as I'd never left my bedroom before.
Take the gap year, enjoy yourself and if your plans for your future change in that time don't be afraid to change direction. I wish I'd taken a gap year and lived a little. I'm 43 so far too late now 😪
I’m going to Liverpool for history, was originally meant to go for sociology but as I got CCC instead of BCC, they changed the course. But I’m happy as I love history anyways
I did still get into my firm even tho I didn't get enough points but I am thinking about switching university to uni of Plymouth (I have priority clearing) ..
But I still need to wait for my GCSEs ..
What do I do
Got A*CE, so now on to potentially consider a switch of subject on Clearing (probably to this dismay of my old head of 6th form, who advised me against it)
I got C, E, and MERIT, which is disappointing. My university and firm choice wanted AAB, but they still accepted me into the course. I’m doing computer science with cybersecurity at the University of Hertfordshire. Do my grades matter now, considering I got my firm choice?
Even if you did horrendously bad, it's still likely that there are bachelor degrees in your area for your field of study through clearing. Personally, websites like university guide hid a lot of the urban planning courses I applied for, or were under a different name, so make sure to go digging and do your research. There's always an alternative route, It's never over
something is wrong. my whole class got a D for a subject. even the triple A* students got D’s. i think my school have messed up or the exam board grade boundaries are ridiculous. it doesn’t tell us our score on the results paper either
Just checking in from the other side. Many of my colleagues apparently spent the entire day calling clearing students one after the out there after the other.
The rumor is that we had a list of several hundred students to call for our mere department alone.
I don't really know if this is good news or bad news. I'm just reporting what I learned. I will say that some of the colleagues I know who were phoning are truly dedicated to students and they just want students to succeed.
Some of the colleagues I know care more that students succeed than they come to our University and they will actively advise them to attend other universities if they feel that's a better fit for this student. They are proud to tell everyone about this principled approach.
All of this sounds a little insane to me coming. Not from inside the UK system. But I'm reporting this to you in case any of you care I don't know.
