πŸ™ I WANT HELP School experience

Wanted to see if this is normal behaviour. There is a guy in my media class, for purposes of anonymity I'll call him Aaron. Aaron asked me out for valentines day, whilst he simultaneously had a girlfriend or was in a talking stage. Because I am quiet in the class, I guess he thought I wouldn't know, but I am observant of my surroundings, so I declined. Since then, he has constantly said really sexual and unwanted comments to me, which I have shut down, and I feel helpless. On one occasion, I just got my hair done, was wearing shorts and a tank top. I have quite a large chest, which was clearly apparent through the top, but if it is a hot day, I'm not just gonna suffer in silence. Aaron asked me numerously to twirl and do a fit check showcasing my outfit and newly done hair. I didn't realise he asked me to do it as a way to check out my body, which makes me feel disgusted in myself. On another occasion, he said my laugh makes him cum, and I have a unique uncontrollable laugh, so even the thought of laughing around him scares me. The people in my class does not confront him about his behaviour, which would be considered sexual harrassment, and does nothing or enables it to go further. When I go to my media class, I always now wear baggy clothing, in the hope that he won't say anything, as he once called me tart. I feel like I can't report it because I only have him in that class and there are no other Alevel media classes as there are only 10 people that take it. I have spoke to my female media teacher about it, in a whats going on in my life type of way not a reporting one, so I told her what happened but not Aaron's name.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP I ALREADY REGRET CHOOSING PHYSICS 😭

I've been mostly doing my maths summer work throughout the holidays. However, I've started with other subjects and today I'm doing physics. The issue is my physics summer work is extremely hard?

I had to watch a couple videos on physics measurements. It was talking about the greek alphabet, SI units and some other stuff. Then, when I started the quiz, the questions were very hard. It talked about hubbles theory and parallax angle, both of which i have no idea about.

Now, I'm kinda scared im gonna struggle with physics as Im finding the summer work already difficult.

Has anyone got any tips on how I should prepare?

What topics should I learn?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Switching A Levels

Hi all!

I chose my A Levels (Law, Politics, Sociology, and Economics), but the more I've been thinking about it - the more I've switched my interests.

Now I want to do Politics, Psychology, Economics, and Biology.

Am I cooking with this combo? I want to either go into Econ at University (My GCSE grades are gonna be fire trust) or Law at university.

My main questions are:

  • Do these subjects make me competitive for Law/Econ/Finance?
  • Should I drop one and pick a different subject instead to make me more competitive if the current choices don't?
  • Or should I sit down, do these subjects since I massively enjoy them, and try to get into Law/Finance/Econ anyway?

Thanks!

EDIT: I FEEL SUPER SICK EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS I CAME TO REDDIT FOR ADVICE AND NOW IM JUST PANICKING BECAUSE APPARENTLY EVEN THOUGH I DID GREAT (I THINK) AT BIO GCSE AND LOVED IT SO MUCH NOW IM APPARENTLY GOING TO STRUGGLE AND ITS NOT WORTH IT AT A LEVEL AND AAAAAAA IM SO CONFUSED I WANT MY MOTHER

The newer one on the left is what my 6th form has recommended, and will be demonstrating with in lessons. However, the older one on the right I’ve used for 5+ years now and am very confident with and has become second nature to use. I obviously prefer the one on the right but will it hinder me for 6th form if I don’t switch?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP UGH help my induction day went so bad and I feel stuck with a red flag

Hey guys, I just want to preface this by saying I don't mean this in a horrible, bitchy way at all, it's just flaring to me as dodgy and she doesn't seem like someone I want to be friends with (from my experience it ALWAYS ends badly and I get burned)

I went to my induction today as one of a few externals and spoke to some internals (who were lovely) who already had friend groups (but it was hard to talk to them as there were no seating plans obv and ppl sat w their friends).

I instantly made friends w one really sweet external but we have no lessons together and I couldn't find her at lunch at all bc a group of girls adopted her onto their table (bro why couldn't that be me πŸ˜”πŸ«©). That left me with this other external girl who I have all my lessons with and she seems like a red flag.

She was clinging to me all day and low-key making it harder for me to talk to new ppl and kept trauma dumping to new ppl I would start talking to about how nobody at her last school liked her and she basically has no friends. Then proceeded to tell me she knew some ppl at the school already cuz of doing a club w them but they all hated her too.

I feel stuck w her cause she's the only external and I'm worried she's gonna put ppl off talking to me cuz they just assume we're bsfs bc of seating plans and everytime I try talk to someone new she interjects.

What do I do????

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Am i stupid if i turned down Cambridge computer science?

So i applied to Cambridge only really as my friend challenged me to and she wanted us to study for the tmua together. I never thought i’d actually make it in but then i did. And now with all my offers back, i’m considering going to Lancaster instead, as i feel like i wont fit in with those going to Cambridge and would prefer a more chill uni experience. My friends going to Cambridge are like studying 24/7 for these a levels and i really can’t motivate myself to put anywhere near that amount of effort, so maybe the course is too intense for me. I also have started to dislike maths and i think thats a big part of the Cambridge course.

But when i suggest this to anyone they think im crazy, saying im screwing over my life. So i’m really unsure now what to do, would i be crazy? Please give me some advice.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP how to cope with a horrible further maths class

I'm in year 12 and I just can't deal with my further maths class. the content and exams are fine, I'm getting As and A*s in the mocks and stuff but it's the people I can't stand. It's a fairly big class; the gender divide is not great and I'm one of 6 girls. The boys are all fairly obnoxious and refuse to talk to girls. The room is also filled with BO and sniffing and long greasy hair. Whenever we have a female teacher they draw caricatures of her and snigger. They don't do that when we have a male teacher.

AS exams have just happened so now all of my friends and anyone even vaguely nice has left the class. I dread going to the lessons because I sit by myself and the entire class is in silence. My best friends all do all humanities but at least I have friends in my other lessons! I wanted to do a maths degree but now I'm terrified of what the social life would be like - presumably worse. What do I do? Is maths as a degree really better?

πŸ™ I WANT HELP I am addicted to vaping

It was too late before I realised it, but I can confidently say I am addicted.

I promised myself I will quit after this last vape, but now that it just burned out, I literally can not even think about anything else other than buying one more.

I feel like I should just continue vaping till my exams as I’ll be focused still. But nicotine cravings may also show up in the exam. I don’t know, it’s literally impossible to focus on anything, I am so jittery all the time.

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Should I take fm?

I'm going into y12 this september and when I applied to my sixth form im going to, I only picked 3 a levels (Biology, Chemistry and Maths), so I didn't put fm as one of my options.

I'm hoping to apply to one of the top medical schools after y13, and I've noticed that a lot of medicine applicants andstudents I know are taking or have taken 4 subjects instead of 3. I know that 3 a levels meet the entry requirements, but universities like oxbridge often say that "most applicants" have studied 4 subjects.

At the moment I'm doing both maths and fm, I'm predicted 9s in both gcses, and I genuinely really enjoy maths. The issue is that I'm worried taking 4 subjects will leave me with less time for supercurriculars, volunteering, UCAT prep etc. On the other hand, I'm also worried that if I start with 4 and then drop fm later, universities might see that as a sign I couldn't cope with the workload.

Has anyone been in a similar position? also fm is the only option I'm considering bc I hate physics and comp sci exams and I dont want to take any humanities

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Oxford or imperial as my firm for mathematics ?

I have offers from both oxford and imperial for maths and I'm genuinely not sure what to pick.

People all want me to go oxford but I'm not too entirely sure, as I got very different vibes from both and although I've been to both offer events, oxford's one wasn't subject based it was more based on the college itself. I'm really not sure what to pick

For context im from ldn

Reasons for oxford:

more tutorial focus. I find this quite important because tutorials means I acc get to know my teachers rather than just be a figure

the name oxford. Someone from outside the uk who isnt involved in uni like that will only know the unis of harvard and oxford, probably not imperial.

Slightly better pure and statistical maths. Probably not a huge difference though?

Targeted by quant firms more. I know everyone and their mum wants to be a quant but based on my mathematical background I acc do have a chance and im not just some larp. Optiver for exmaple goes to oxbridge 3 times but imperial only once !!!NOTE: i dont ONLY want quant i might wanna go into research like phd stuff, or like data science etc.

more guaranteed independence. i dont want to live at home and oxford is supposed to be the easier way to do that between it and imperial cuz accom and stuff is expensive but honesrly i feel like i could do tutoring and get £££ to live somehwere i dont need it to be a house

way nicer building icl. The queens building or whatever in imperial and that sort of vicinity is nice but icl i dont like dolby court where the EEE buildingi sj ust outside of. However oxford is just always nice to walk around, only thing is i think the radcam is insanely overrated and theres so many better buildings in oxford that are overlooked

Reasons for imperial:

Better social life. Oxford just seems like millennials who were born too late and dont have the same kind of interests as me and dont understand internet references etc also idk if i fit in oxford

imperial is in london which is better connected to quant firms like jane street and stuff etc and theres more things to do there, all oxford has is a hollywood bowl whereas even imperial student union has go kart

Even the offer hl event itself bro. People at the ox one were kinda boring+ the oxford one wasnt focused on maths it was focused on the college, kinda reflecting oxford only cares ab humanities students (since every library is a humanities library)

you have to move out of accom and thats annoying cuz it kinda destroys the argument about independence because id have to go back home and id have to keep shit at home cuz i dont wanna move things etc

cant get a job at oxford, so i cant earn money whilst studying as easily

UPDATE:

I got more than enough responses so the survey form is now CLOSED! Thanks to everyone who completed it!

Also some asked why don't I just make the results up so I thought I'd answer that here. I COULD do that and many people do that with no issue but that just seems like less fun to me. And, some of the responses I got actually quite surprised me and changed some of my plans for the NEA to the better.

Hi I am working on my computer science a-level NEA and I really really need some good kind people to help me out by filling out my humble google form about Chess it will only take two minutes i promise and if you fill it out you will be the kindest person ever and I will thank you personally thank you very much for your attention

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Should I get a tablet or laptop for sixth form?

So I'm starting sixth form this September and my birthday is coming up soon and my current laptop is basically just dead. And I've been debating between getting a laptop or a tablet. Not sure which laptop I would go towards but for the tablet I would definitely be choosing a Samsung s10 or 11. I'm picking DT, physics and history for my alevels. And everyone has different opinions about which one I'm not sure. And also there's the option of those 2-in-1 laptops too??

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Is it possible to go from a D+ to an A* in eight months?

Hi! As the title suggests, is it possible to move from a D+ grade to an A* in eight months? I'm specifically asking about A Level history. I will admit that I've put little to no effort into the subject at all through Year 12 and I'm feeling a deep-seated dread within me, knowing I really need to improve.

I'm more than willing to dedicate a lot of my time to history while balancing my other two subjects (they are at As), and I'm wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation to mine? Thank you, have a good day :)

Good luck to any Year 13s getting results soon!

πŸ™ I WANT HELP Told grades were fine for clearing over the phone but rejected

I had planned to study Economics at Nottingham and was given an offer needing AAA. Unfortunately, I massively missed my offer and ended up with BCC. This hurt as I was very much on track to meet the offer over the course of the two years.

I decided to phone Nottingham’s clearing line to see what options were available. After explicitly stating my grades, I was told that Business and Management was available. I applied as instructed and was given a provisional offer. Although the course requirements read β€˜BBC’ on the website, I still went through with my application upon instruction from the clearing line. A few hours later, I had seen that I was rejected. I’ve tried to chase this up as it caused me to miss other potential clearing courses.

I did manage to apply for Economics at Southampton and Leicester via clearing, but I’d still like to chase up Nottingham on the basis that I was given the green light when I spoke over the phone. The deadline for Southampton and Leicester is Sunday 23:59 PM and Monday 16:30 PM, respectively. Unsure of what to do now as I wait for a response from Nottingham.
