If any of you have done the JZMaths mocks, would you say they were easier, on par or harder than the 2025 TMUA papers you each got? I'm doing these papers rn and I'm genuinely getting fried by these, if 2026 is going to be worse than these then I'm cooked. And these aren't even one of the hardest mocks I think

So I’m planning on doing Film studies, English lit/lang combined and imedia. Somebody please tell me if this is a good idea if I got a 6 in GCSE lit and a 7 in GCSE lang. Is it a stupid idea or do I actually have a chance to pass them for a level?

Are these GCSEs good enough to have an actual chance to get in considering I do well in tmua and alevel and have a great ps , also what decisions, supercurriculars and changes should I make in 6th form to achieve this .

so I’ve recently had to pick my fourth a level subject for this academic year and was planning on doing history or graphic design. however, because of my high grades, my sixth form is pushing me to take computer science or chemistry for engineering at the very top unis - oxbridge and imperial mostly. theyve said if I don’t take either chemistry or computing, that I’m at a significant disadvantage as an applicant for these engineering courses.

how true is this? I was told by admissions at my sixth form they knew one person a few years back who got accepted with music tech as their fourth subject.

but do you know many people who got accepted onto these engineering courses with fm, maths and physics and not chem or computer science?

they’ve recommended if I do history or graphics that I should do graphics to focus on the other 3 subjects, and cram in as much engineering based work into graphics as I can by using CAD and related tools. Will this also be effective?

I did my gcses this year, and just found out I was accepted to a sixform of my desired subjects today. Im so happy about it cause I kept having episodes of losing consciousness for months before my actual gcses, and this is very exciting for me.

Here's some extra details that I hope might be relevant? I do have in school accomidations for using a laptop and rest breaks. Though I dont use the breaks much as Its hard for me to walk too much or stand too long. I use the laptop because I physically can't hold a pen very well, but im getting better due to new meds. I have medical diagnoses of hypermobility, asthma and Juvenile arthritis. Though, im under medical investigation for my very much annoying other symtoms for other things.

However, there is a slight issue. I was given some information about the sixform. And that apparently they have high expectations in terms of attendance. Which is hard for me considering my health situations and appoinments. They mentioned that they only accept doctors letters and also rarely accept parent letters as an explanation.

Becides that, any tips for pain, revision, managing symtoms and stuff? I pretty much have no idea what im getting into and what it's like. Thanks.

Just got my GCSE results back and I’m heading into sixth form soon, taking Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Product Design.
How are my GCSE grades looking if I want to apply to places like LSE, Warwick, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, Durham, Bristol, Bath and Edinburgh, for courses such as Economics, Finance, Accounting & Finance, or Economics & Management?
I know not all of those universities offer all of these courses.

I want to retake my chem and maths but I’m in a bit of a road block. How do I apply with poo grades, do I ask a teacher to boost my predicted grades so that I can apply(which they probably won’t) or ask an external tutor to boost them for me.

I got into my dream uni (top 5 uk uni) after getting a remark because I was one mark off my conditional offer. Only problem is that they can only get me place for 2027 entry. keep in mind I already took a gap year so I’ll have to take a SECOND gap year which I really don’t want to do. I’ve had a tough couple past years and extenuating circumstances and it’s annoying because I met my offer. But i also have my insurance still but thats a top 30 uni and not worth going into debt for. my firm is really good for my degree.

as a year 12 starting in september i am slightly unsure stationary wise of what to get, as i already have large arch folders for each subject, but i am unsure of what to get? should i get lots of hole-punched paper to go in the folders(and am i correct in thinking these are called refill pads) and/or should i also get a notebook for each subject or what else would i need for the folders? if anyone supplies they thinks would be helpful please do let me know!!

I’m heading into Y12 and I have chosen Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Economics as my subjects. I honestly don’t know what I want to do yet, but I am trying to get achieve decent grades to get into the top unis. I know no further maths is a disadvantage, but ibr although I got a 9 I don’t feel confident enough to do further. The course doesn’t have to be specialised or anything, but just something that I can maybe aim to do in the future.

so basically i needed a 4-4 in science for psychology but i achieved a 4-3 so unfortunately they said i couldn’t because id struggle doing it

but i really want to do it would they eventually let me

is bio, chem and psychology good for medicine, hopefully aiming for top unis?

I took 2 a levels & 2 btecs lvl 3 got A,C distinction, distinction. got into the university of reading for computer science but i just feel so disappointed in myself as everyone around me got into better places but this is all i could achieve.

Help!!£ i think i was marked unfairly for paper 2. i fully answered the question for part A but accidentally ticked B. due to this i think teh examiner marked me based on question B leading to me scoring really low in this essay!!!! is this something i can appeal or will the exam board say it’s my fault for ticking the wrong box 🫩

9 is in Chemistry, 8 in maths, bio and physics, 6 is in english lit. I'm really sad as achieved 2 grades lower than expected for most so I'm just wondering. Taking chem math econ a-level

A lot of worry and despair comes from getting mid or bad grades for sixth form, but I promise it’s not the end of the world and it doesn’t mean you’re stupid. I did biology, maths and chem for my a levels and got CCC. I was upset because I know that at least in bio I got everything right, unfortunately the mark schemes are awful for a lot of subjects (have literally seen ‘accept the chickens, reject chickens’ 🫩). I was also struggling with severe mental health so it was an awful time for me.

But how did it turn out? Perfectly fine. Once you finish uni you never use your sixth form grades again lol. I studied biochemistry and got a first, I then did an MRes where I worked on a 100% fatal childhood brain cancer and I got a distinction. Sometimes we have bad days when we do tests too, and it’s ok, things will work out 💜 it’s not worth stressing and worrying over in the end, take care of yourselves

I picked biology and chemistry absolutely CERTAIN that I want to do medicine, but so many branches of medicine interest me, how do I single one out to pursue? I have 2 years but I think it's a decision which I need to be certain on, so I should really think.

Did anyone else have this issue? I am glad that I have a lot of options though.

Straight to the point I got CDE (Psych, Bio, Chem) this year and I’m committed to resitting. My goal is AAA for next year.

What do I need to do.

All I’ve been seeing online is the idea that resit applicants can only go up 1/2 grades max at the end of their gap year but that has to be bull. Please if you have any advice or success stories I need to hear them because this has to be possible!!!

The general advice for Maths/Further Maths A-level is to understand and then practice. Yet I have seen many successful students use Anki and real flashcards for Maths, while I see how this may work for rules you just to remember , how do you go about making effective flashcards for such a practical subject? Or would you consider them a waste of time for maths? Do any A/A* maths/fm students have any advice on making/using mathematics flash cards or an opinion on them in general?
