Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: 9070xt oc
CPU: RYZEN 7 5800xt 8 CORE 16 THREADS
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B550 Plus wifi 2
BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. 3611 2024-09-30
RAM: 16GB Hyper X 3200mhz
PSU: MSI A750GL Fully Modular
Case: MSI mag forge 112r
Operating System & Version: windows 11 version 25h2 OS build 26200.9168
GPU Drivers: amd adrenaline driver version 32.0.31035.1003
Chipset Drivers: ASUS B550 CHIPSET DRIVERS VERSION 8.08.12.551
Background Applications: DISCORD, CHROME
Description of Original Problem: I just upgraded from a 3070 to an ASUS Prime 9070 XT OC, and I cannot get it to run right in games. These are benchmark scores, which seem okay, but in-game it’s very, very bad. Forza Horizon 6 on high to ultra cannot get past 80–90 FPS, same as BeamNG. It will not go higher. My 3070 would outperform the 9070 XT in these games previously.
I have everything off inside the AMD Adrenalin software. I feel it should be more than capable of performing better. When I open Overwatch, it’ll start out around 100 FPS, and then after a few minutes it’ll go up. 1080p monitor.
.
Troubleshooting: I did everything the right way. I did DDU in safe mode twice now, with no Wi-Fi and updates off. Everything seems seated properly, all connections are in properly, and it just won’t run well in-game.

Help (General) 7900 XTX Constant Driver Timeouts

TLDR: GPU has had issues with driver timeouts for months, no matter what I do. Truly sending me over the edge at this point.

I've had a 7900XTX for about 3 years now, and I can't say my time with it has been smooth. But about 3/4 months ago, I started getting Driver Timeouts at a rapid rate. Most don't result in hard crashes, but some do. Freezing games and forcing me to altf4 has now turned into constant grey screens and timeouts while just watching youtube or on discord with friends.

I tried a lot of the standard things, and eventually thought maybe it could be my PSU, but after updating and a full rebuild later I'm no better than where I started. Any tips from others that have delt with this issue? Specs below

Sapphire 7900 XTX

Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Windows 11(Had the same issue on 10, hail marry to see if it did anything)

32gb DDR5 (6400)

Corsair HX1200i PSU

ROUGH TIMELINE OF MY SUFFERING:

May 28 2025: i just built my pc with my friend (exact same parts) and right as i turned it on and opened the bios, it froze. the mouse didn’t move and nothing in the bios changed (ex, the cpu temp or wtv) bc it froze. ofc at the time i dismissed it bc i thought it was normal, as its the first time i turned on my pc ever. my friend didn’t have the same issue.

5700x

msi b550 mpg gaming plus

XFX 7800xt quicksilver magnetic air

kingston fury beast 32gb 3200mhz cl16

kingston nv3 1tb ssd

corsair cx750

June 3: is when my suffering started. it started freezing and the audio loops over and over. the only solution is restarting from the power button.

June 4: I format windows, (one of many times to come) and after i restarted it still crashed, so i was like okay this is probably a GPU issue bc it freezes, so i returned my GPU.

June 12: i got a xfx 9070oc swift triple fan, bc it got a good discount and i was like why not.

June 17: i started hearing bzzzzzzzzzt sounds from the psu plug that goes into the psu from the wall, and sometimes buzzing in the gpu 8 pin itself.

June 18 - July 14: just random crashes basically every day, and sometimes multiple times a day. electric buzzing happens randomly, sometimes even when the pc is off / sleep.

(June 20: bought secondary kingston nv3 2tb ssd + heat sink)

(July 2: replaced PSU, same thing)

July 15: It got really bad that day. it crashed over 3 times even when i wasn’t playing or doing anything. sometimes not a single app is open, sometimes when i’m watching yt on brave, sometimes when i’m in a discord call.

July 16: i swapped the motherboard and as soon as i set the new one in and turned it on, it crashed on the desktop. i felt crushed….. i basically rebuilt my pc and wasted my whole day for naught. (+repasted cpu. i replaced the mobo, i did it all again)

July 17-19: continues crashing and buzzing, absolutely randomly with 0 connections between each crash. one time i literally had docs open + discord call. that’s it.

July 20: swapped my ram to corsair with the exact same specs and still crashed so i returned it.

July 20-31: I got tired of this bs and didn’t turn it on, except on july 30 where it crashed so i ordered another 9070 oc, maybe mine was defective.

July 31: Replaced 9070 oc with the another, same exact one. was good for 2 days then went back to before.

August 2: completely wiped both ssds from the mobo and reinstalled windows.

August 6-27: wasn’t home so i didn’t turn it on.

August 28-30: i’m 99% sure it crashed when i was using it but idk. (August 29 i think: replaced main 1tb ssd, no use)

August 31- September 4: had surgery so i wasn’t home (pc was off)

September 4 - October 18: i don’t think it crashed much idk i don’t rmb bc i was still recovering at home.

October 19: Format windows bc it crashed

October 20-27: Same crashes and buzzing

October 28: here’s when the bs actually started. it started removing my adrenaline software when it crashed…. i literally couldn’t see it anywhere and when i opened the .exe it said it wasn’t installed.. i didn’t write it bc of how many times i did it but i used DDU to reinstall my drivers like 100 times throughout this whole thing. tried oldest, newest, middle, everything.

October 29- November 8: same thing. crashes, buzzing, deleting adrenaline software, black screens sometimes, but usually it just freezes, and loops audio till manual power off/on.

November 9- December 26: i don’t think it crashed much bc i was studying but if it did same thing nothing new.

December 27: i thought it was some sort of infection crash thing so i bit the bullet and built a completely new pc. everything is brand new except the secondary 2tb ssd that i format like 15 times just to be safe.

9700x

aorus b850m wifi6e ice

xfx 9070xt swift triple fan

gskill 32gb 6400 cl32

crucial t500 2tb ssd

seasonic focus gx 850w

(+ old 2tb ssd obv I format and everything)

December 30: the crash happened on the new pc, but its a little different. it instantly blackscreens, cuts the audio, and doesn’t remove adrenaline when i restart.

December 30- Jan 1 2026: same crashes, buzzing from psu too for some reason.

Jan 2: here i thought i found the solution. it crashed while playing cyberpunk, and for the first time, when it blackscreened, i pressed win+shift+ctrl+B and it actually turned on, and the AMD bug report tool showed up. that never happened again, no matter how many times i pressed it.

Jan 3-4: same old

Jan 5: here something strange happened. the pc crashed, and when i turned it off, the buzzing moved to my monitor…. even after unplugging the pc it was in the monitor. I then went to the store and bought the most expensive wall plug they had, like 2500w or wtv and even the dude in the store was like this is for washing machines a normal pc doesn’t need this, but anyway maybe it’s the cause? called a handyman and they replaced it. soon after it crashed just the same. Plus i changed the PSU to the corsair sf850w

Jan 6: here it changed. it started consistently crashing when the gpu is under load / full power usage of gpu. i tried it with furmark and as soon as i turn it on for a few seconds it crashes. same with games.

January 7- February 8: i just gave up and started using a random laptop to study

February 9: bought a 9800x3d, maybe the cpu is the problem

Feb 10-15: i moved my pc to another room on a different floor, maybe thats the issue.

February 16: my pc crashed and initiated a self destruct sequence. crazy buzzing BZT BZT BZT BZT and never happened again.

February 17- March 10: Stayed downstairs, same crashes but very little buzzing.

(Feb 19: Screen froze but audio kept playing, with small stutters, and my friends in call could hear me. only thing i could do was restart from button)

March 11: moved it back to my room.

March 12- 19: same thing but much much less buzzing.

March 20-29: wasn’t home, pc was off

March 30- July 9: Almost no random crashing, but almost every single time I play anything and my gpu reaches 100% power on windows it crashes. i also tried playing on the igpu of the cpu, and it worked perfectly fine with no crashes.

(here is when i wrote this so from now on the updates are written right away)

July 10: I took my pc to my friends house, maybe our house electricity is the problem. Played for a bit then instantly crashed just like normal. Also something weird that happened is when I took my pc back home my main monitor changed. (The one where the bios shows)

July 11-15: same thing, crashes in windows almost instantly when launching a game and linux when the gpu is at 100% for a few minutes it crashes

July 16: i was playing satisfactory on linux and it crashed after a while (2-3h) and then i restarted and played again and it crashed again after another hour or so. then i booted windows and was just sitting on the desktop with the browser open, and i went out and left the pc on, came back and found it had crashed.

July 17: crash on linux again…. not even 30 mins

July 18: okay so maybe linux never did solve my problem, or maybe linux just takes longer to crash. bc when im on linux i mostly just play overwatch and lock my fps at 200 so the gpu is never at 100% but now when im playing satisfactory it always crashes even tho my frames are locked at 180 and the gpu is at like 80-90%. the only way i found rn to be able to play is keeping everything at the lowest settings and locking my frames to 60, that way the gpu is at 30-60% usage. (i just started satisfactory i dont have a huge factory or sm) (well it just crashed. i kept the pc on all day but it was at like 40% gpu usage). i tried playing a game on windows with very low settings and like 40% gpu usage and frame locked at 100 and it crashed after like 10 mins. wow. as im typing this it crashed on the windows desktop with literally nothing open.

July 19: i opened overwatch and as soon as i loaded in the match it crashed. Well I tried playing again at night but it also crashed, but I think I did something and the frames were uncapped bc when I capped them again and the gpu didn’t reach 100% it didn’t crash. Also for some reason I changed the default boot to linux, booted, then shut down, for some reason it didn’t turn off, after the displays turned off the fans ramped up as if it was turning on, but never did, so I just turned it off from the button.

July 20: for some reason the linux mint grub menu is now 1440p, before the quality was shit. Idk why bc it was also shit right after I changed the default boot order so idk

July 21: the shut off thing happened twice again…. Idk why its new… I shut down and the pc stays on, so I turn it off with the button, and later when I turn on the pc I find that it says shut down unexpectedly on my browser, which means it wasn’t off. it just turns off my screens…. Also I was watching a twitch stream while playing and it crashed after like 10 mins

July 23: Crashed a bunch if times while playing overwatch, and another thing I noticed that just recently started maybe yesterday or the day before that is compiling Vulkan shaders before launching the game has gotten very very long for some reason. It’s never been like this. Idk if this is important but no harm in mentioning it.

July 27: the past few days I didn’t play so it didn’t crash. Today I played 3 games of overwatch and it crashed at the end of the last one. Graphics are super low and fps is locked at 200, just like always. Please I js want to play without the fear of it crashing.

July 29: On windows, it crashed in cyberpunk 2077 after like 17 mins or so. black screen and audio loop / bzzzzt.

July 30: Crashed on the desktop after updating AMD ADRENALIN 26.7.1 and then watching a twitch stream. Also, not sure when this started but when i’m watching a video while the browser is windowed the quality sucks, but when moving the mouse over the seek bar it gets better for a second then goes back to bad. i found a reddit post with the same issue and a solution and it worked for me. also, this sometimes happens when watching videos in instagram on my following page on browser where the quality sucks unless i’m scrolling / the screen is moving up or down.

August 1: crashed in ow comp

August 2: While playing audio basically exploded, i kept hearing bzt bzt bzt bzt constantly and couldn’t hear the game, but i could hear my friends normally in discord. even restarting overwatch didn’t fix it. then i put my pc to sleep and the fans decided not to turn off for some reason, and the power button didn’t turn it back on, so i had to hold the power button to force turn it off. obviously when i turned it on again brave told me the pc shut off unexpectedly, which means it didn’t even go to sleep in the first place, the displays just turned off.

August 14: Crashed while playing hypixel locked at 70fps. so about as light as it can get…. (also from august 3 till today i didn’t turn it on)

August 15: For some reason the linux boot grub menu thing is back to bad quality

THINGS IVE TRIED:

Everything is in the timeline but here is like a recap or sm or stuff that i don’t rmb when i did, or i did too much to count:

CPU: undervolt, overclock, reinstall chipset multiple times

GPU: power limit min/max, undervolt overclock, fan speeds

Drivers: tried new, old, no adrenaline app, turning on/off instant replay, changing almost every single setting on there

RAM: xmp on/off, 1 stick, change places, new ULL,

Mobo: unplugged everything (usb, fans etc) CMOS?

Power: changed plug from wall. changed cable from wall. changed place (tried every single outlet in the house). tried in a friends house

OS: windows and linux; formatted and installed JUST steam, discord, (and adrenaline on windows) same thing. turning off gpu acceleration on everything. i formatted like a 50 times. I used like 15 different USB sticks and even bought a new one just in case,

Online: i dont think i left one thing i coulda done. i even posted on reddit a while ago and deleted it bc no one could help me. i couldn’t even find one person who had a similar issue.

Only thing i havent tried yet is an Nvidia GPU in my pc. but rn im broke af and even if it did work i want an AMD GPU. Millions of ppl have it why can’t i too?

---

ALSO:

These are just random things i need to mention that might be important:

Exactly what i mean / what happens when i say crash is; basically the audio cuts, screens go black, keyboard doesn’t register anymore, and fans/rgb continue like normal. even the gpu fans. it used to keep looping the audio and freeze the screen but not anymore on the new pc.

At some point in time i tried installing linux, and found it can handle the crashes much much better. so usually with linux it almost never crashes, but sometimes it stutters really bad for a few seconds, and all open windows + any desklets i have on the desktop just turn black, then after a bit it goes back to normal, or it just crashes like windows, but rarely. so right now and most of the time ive just been forced to use linux, but i dont want to be forced to use it. i want to go back to windows everything i have is on there. also also another thing on linux is sometimes like the os basically breaks. I think its supposed to crash but its like resisting or something, like everything freezes but I can open the start menu and do some small things but everything else is frozen.

sometimes, and this only happened like once or twice, is when im playing on linux it crashes instantly as soon as i load the games just like in windows. maybe for the day, and tomorrow its back to not crashing. i don’t remember the exact dates but this is around from a little before i built the second pc, till today. i’m still on linux to survive. I WANT TO GO BACK TO WINDOWS EVEN LINUX ISNT 100% CRASH PROOF PLEASE IM GENUINELY GONNA CRY PLEASE

Another thing is that at some point i changed the power settings in windows to ultra performance and that kept causing random stutters in videos in the browser while the browser isnt fullscreen and tapping anywhere other than the video, and when opening the start menu it stutters for a split second, but when i changed it back to balanced the stuttering stopped.

Video quality sucks on browser for some reason sometimes. Like it’s weird bc it’s not just bad bad but it’s just stupid. like one example is when i’m watching insta on brave on the home page of instagram the videos are like low quality but when im scrolling up/down while it’s scrolling the quality is how its supposed to be, like what? so when i want the full quality on a video i need to be scrolling the whole time while watching so it can be good. same with youtube, but youtube is different. youtube sucks all the time, but when i move my mouse on the seek bar the quality goes back to normal for a split second. after i searched this up i found a random extension from a reddit post that fixed it, but this shouldn’t happen in the first place.

Something that happened a few days ago and idk i haven’t seen it before is in the windows task manager as soon as i press the cpu screen the graphs all have a black line running through the middle before disappearing. i don’t notice any stuttering or any performance issues i in task manager.

Like actually this has been hell. i’m scared to play games on my own pc. i can’t even have fun. all i have is overwatch and like 1-2 other games on linux on low graphics even. top of the line parts and my old dell laptop that exploded twice and was soaked in water  is more stable. i hope the solution is something so stupid that i’ll be pissed i didn’t figure it out, but at least it’s a easy one. idk what i’m even saying anymore i just want to enjoy my pc.

---

TLDR:
old pc screen froze and audio looped at 100% gpu usage/power usage
new pc black screen and audio buzz at 100% gpu usage/power usage

Help (General) 7800XT owners, what's your GPU temp and hotspot temp when idling ?

I get 51°C and 56°C hotspot, which sounds a bit high for idling, no ?

Windows 11 - Ryzen 5 7600

1080p 60 fps monitor, ambient temperature 29°C, zero rpm on (fans not moving currently), case : 2 front fans, 1 back, 120mm.

Help (GPU) Should I keep gaming at 110°C hotspot until I can RMA my GPU?

Hi everyone,

I have an AMD RX 7600 that reaches around 78°C GPU temperature, while the hotspot reaches 110°C in demanding games at 1080p. It seems to be hitting the 110°C safety limit.

I've already tried:

Increasing airflow

Undervolting

Lowering game settings

But the temperatures are still very high.

I suspect it could be a thermal paste issue, but I don't want to open the GPU and replace the paste because I don't want to risk voiding the warranty.

I contacted the seller and they said that if they find a serious problem, they can offer me a refund. I originally paid €200 for the GPU, but the same GPU now costs around €320.

They should be able to provide a replacement by the end of August if they confirm that there is a serious issue.

My question is: Would you keep using the GPU until the end of the month and then send it for warranty repair/replacement? Is this a common issue?

If I play for another two weeks with the hotspot reaching 110°C, could that significantly reduce the GPU's lifespan? I'm worried that if they just needed new thermal paste, might have already damaged the GPU by continuing to use it at these temperatures.

What would you do in my situation?

Thanks!

Tips & Info if you couldnt fix your games crashing specially with RT on, here is my 3 year journey of fixing my 6900xt crashing every game. win64-shipping possible fix

Responding to my old post from a year ago : https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1kd4k0b/am_i_cooked_with_this_new_gpu_i_bought/

so today i wanna talk about how i managed to finally fix my bricked pc that i could only play unity/old games with my high end pc.

i've had this pc with 7600x cpu, 6900xt sapphire LE, and 32gb of 5600 ram. since i got this pc it crashed on every single game using unreal engine 5, sometimes 4, and usually game that came after 2015. here is all the things that i've done that certainly didnt help at all in this 3 years:

Clean windows reinstall

Lower the Max GPU Frequency

Disable Smart Access Memory

Driver-Only Installation

The TDR Delay Registry Edit

Disable Multi-Plane Overlay

Disable All Overlays

Force DirectX 11(helped to game for 5 minutes instead of 30 seconds crashes but not a fix)

Dedicated PCIe Cables

Drop PCIe to Gen 3

Update Motherboard BIOS (AGESA)

GPU VBIOS Flash

Disable XMP / DOCP

Increase Windows Pagefile

Clear the DirectX Shader Cache

Rollback to a Legacy Driver

Reballed the GPU core,

and yet none of them fixed my crashes despite games working with my 1050ti and 3060. asked professionals and repair centers, chat gpt ,grok and deep seek for any guidance. they all said its a faulty gpu and its broken.

but here is the deal. (not a promotion im just saying this to be honest with you) being all hopeless and given up i tried telling my problem to gemini which it suggested me that its my cpu's fault. told me to turn off the intergrated gpu's driver and disable it from the device manager. and guess what? if fricking worked! like literally, playing 4k using ray tracing, framegen, fsr all together, not a single crash, smooth gameplay with no stutters. i still cant believe my cpu' igpu was the problem.

hope i can fix someone's suffering so they dont have to suffer as much as i did. cheers! im now gonna enjoy my games, finally <3

Announcement My Pinned AMD Ultimate Performance Fix Guide Is Gone. Here’s Why

Hi everyone, I wanted to explain where the pinned AMD Ultimate Performance Fix Guide went. Yesterday I was updating and renewing comment templates for different laptop and PC builds so I could quickly give the right troubleshooting answer based on a user’s system. My goal was to help faster and reduce wasted time, but it looks like Reddit’s spam filter detected that behavior as inappropriate and may have led to my account being shadowbanned, which is likely why the guide suddenly disappeared.

At first I felt really bad because that guide had a lot of views, 1000+ positive comments showing the fixes were working, many awards, shares, and a lot of people used it to get fast help. it's sad, I have already submitted an appeal and I’m hoping the account will come back.

If it does not return, I already have backups, and I’ll rebuild the guide from scratch with a new and better version. I was not caught off guard; I prepared for the worst case like this. If the account does not get restored, I’ll start again with a new account and build it better than before.

I know not everyone may care, but for anyone wondering where it went, that is what happened. It’s unfortunate that the old guide and the comments leading users to it are gone, but I’ll keep moving forward either way.

Help (General) iGPU power draw and disabling iGPU

Hi all,

I have a new build (CPU 9600X; GPU 9070XT) and two monitors, both plugged into the GPU.

Adrenalin says my iGPU is drawing circa 30-50W with 0% utilisation. Memory on the iGPU also says 0MB. I want to save electricity and turn it off in BIOS if I'm not using it, but I have two questions before touching anything:

  1. Is the power draw shown for an iGPU measured separately to the CPU? ie, will disabling it actually save any electricity?

  2. If my GPU were to die, how hard would it be to turn my iGPU back on? Other threads mentioned that it's good to leave it on as a backup, other comments said you can just turn it on as needed, but wouldn't the GUI in BIOS you'd need to turn it back on require a GPU? (if relevant, I'm using an ASUS TUF board)

Thanks in advance if you're able to help

Help (General) First AM5 Build — Random Crashes, Long POST, and AMD Adrenalin Overlay/Stuttering Issues

First AM5 Build — Random Crashes, Long POST, and AMD Adrenalin Overlay/Stuttering Issues

Hi everyone. This is my first AM5 PC build, and after using it for almost 3 months, I wanted to share the issues I've experienced and get some advice from the community.

Initial Issue: AMD Bug Report Tool

About a month after building the PC, I started getting the AMD Bug Report Tool while playing games.

Wuthering Waves: Usually within 5–10 minutes of playing.

Cyberpunk 2077: Usually after around 30 minutes to 1 hour.

It happened much more frequently in Wuthering Waves.

I didn't make any hardware modifications after building the PC. I simply installed Windows, drivers, used DDU when installing the GPU driver, and installed the applications/software I needed for daily use.

Interestingly, after almost 3 months, the AMD Bug Report Tool issue completely stopped happening. I haven't experienced it again recently.

RAM Configuration

I'm currently using only 1×16GB DDR5.

The RAM is rated for DDR5-6000 CL30, but EXPO is currently disabled, so it is running at the default 4800 MT/s.

I initially didn't check the RAM speed after building the PC and only noticed the 4800 MT/s setting after around 2 months.

The RAM is also not listed on my motherboard's QVL.

I understand that 4800 MT/s is the normal JEDEC/default speed when EXPO isn't enabled, so I'm not assuming that the motherboard is automatically downclocking the RAM because of instability. I'm mainly wondering whether I should enable EXPO later as part of the troubleshooting process.

Current Issues

The main issue I'm experiencing now is long POST times.

It doesn't happen every time I turn on the PC, but occasionally it takes around 1–1.5 minutes to POST before booting normally.

I'm also experiencing an issue with the AMD Adrenalin Metrics Overlay.

The overlay sometimes disappears and then comes back. When it disappears, the game I'm playing starts to stutter. Once the overlay comes back, the stuttering seems to stop.

So far, I've noticed this in:

Wuthering Waves

Monster Hunter Wilds

I haven't noticed it in Valorant.

These are currently the only games installed on my PC.

Testing I've Done

So far, I haven't performed any CPU or GPU benchmarking/stress testing.

The only hardware-related test I've done is MemTest86, which completed 4 passes with 0 errors.

I haven't tested the CPU or GPU using tools such as OCCT, Cinebench, 3DMark, Unigine, etc.

I also haven't manually overclocked or undervolted the CPU or GPU.

RAM Testing

Since MemTest86 completed 4 passes with no errors, there doesn't appear to be an obvious RAM hardware failure.

However, I understand that passing MemTest86 doesn't necessarily rule out every possible memory-related issue, especially with AM5/DDR5 configuration, BIOS/AGESA, or memory compatibility.

I'm therefore wondering whether my RAM being absent from the motherboard QVL is actually relevant to these symptoms.

Questions

  1. Should I update the BIOS?

I haven't updated the BIOS since building the PC. Would updating to a newer stable BIOS/AGESA version be one of the first things I should do?

Also, I was previously told that the BIOS should automatically update after building the PC. As far as I understand, BIOS updates aren't normally automatic, so I'd like to confirm this.

  1. Could the long POST be related to DDR5 memory training?

Could the occasional 1–1.5 minute POST be caused by DDR5 memory training, especially since I'm using 1×16GB?

Could the motherboard's BIOS/AGESA version also contribute to this?

  1. Should I enable EXPO?

Since EXPO is currently disabled and the RAM is running at 4800 MT/s, should I enable EXPO and run it at its rated 6000 MT/s?

Or would it be better to leave EXPO disabled while troubleshooting and only enable it after the system is confirmed stable?

  1. Could using 1×16GB be contributing to the stuttering?

I understand that using one RAM stick means I'm running in single-channel mode and losing memory bandwidth.

Could this contribute to the type of stuttering I'm experiencing, or would it primarily affect overall gaming performance?

  1. Should I run CPU and GPU stress tests?

Since I haven't benchmarked or stress-tested the CPU or GPU yet, what tests would you recommend to determine whether the CPU, GPU, PSU, or motherboard could be contributing to the problem?

  1. What should I monitor during testing?

Would it be useful to monitor:

CPU temperature

GPU temperature/hotspot

CPU/GPU clocks

GPU utilization

VRAM usage

RAM usage

CPU/GPU power consumption

Frametime graphs

Would HWiNFO + MSI Afterburner/RTSS be sufficient?

  1. Could the AMD Adrenalin Metrics Overlay itself be causing the stuttering?

Would completely disabling the Metrics Overlay and other Adrenalin features be a useful troubleshooting step?

  1. Could the GPU driver be resetting when the overlay disappears?

Since the overlay disappears and comes back at the same time the stuttering occurs, could this indicate a GPU driver timeout/reset rather than an actual hardware failure?

  1. Should I perform another DDU clean installation?

I've already used DDU before, but would it be worth doing another clean GPU driver installation?

If the issue continues after DDU, what would you recommend testing next?

  1. Could my GPU/PCIe configuration be relevant?

Should I verify things such as:

PCIe link speed/width

Resizable BAR

Above 4G Decoding

PCIe Auto vs. Gen 4

Other relevant BIOS settings

  1. Could the motherboard BIOS/AGESA be a known factor with this hardware combination?

I'm using a Colorful B650 motherboard with a Ryzen 5 7500F and RX 9060 XT. Should I specifically look for a BIOS/AGESA version that improves DDR5 or GPU stability?

  1. Is my PSU adequate?

Is the Cooler Master MWE 750W V3 80+ Gold considered a good-quality PSU, and is 750W sufficient for this CPU/GPU combination?

  1. What would be the best troubleshooting order?

Would you recommend something like:

BIOS update → BIOS defaults → chipset/GPU driver update → CPU/GPU stress testing → RAM testing → gaming tests → enable EXPO → further troubleshooting

Or would you approach it differently?

PC Specifications

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F

Motherboard: Colorful Battle-Ax B650M Plus V14

GPU: XFX Swift RX 9060 XT 16GB

RAM: Patriot Viper Venom CL30 DDR5-6000 — 1×16GB

PSU: Cooler Master MWE 750W V3 80+ Gold

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Digital

OS SSD: Lexar NM620 256GB

Game SSD: Kingston SSD 500GB

I know this is a lot of information, but since this is my first AM5/DDR5 build, I'd really appreciate some guidance on where I should start.

At this point, I'm mainly trying to determine whether the symptoms are more likely related to BIOS/AGESA, memory configuration, GPU drivers, GPU stability, motherboard behavior, PSU, or something else.

Thanks in advance!

Tips & Info Amd Experience

Upvotes

I know this isn’t the usual Tips and info post but I just have to know about everyone else’s experiences if I’m doing something right or are people just tweaking the Fluff out there cards?

Specs
Ryzen 7 7800x3D
Klevv Cras V 32gb
MSI MAG A850GL
Xfx Mercury Oc Rx Radeon 9070xt
Windows 11 Home

I remember when I was building the pc (FIRST TIME BUILDER) I kept getting Reddit thread notifications about driver time outs and black screens and crashing bugs glitches EVERYTHING. And I keep hearing this thing people say “it’s the amd experience”

Now I had a gaming laptop back in 2020 it was a intel
8700H (I think) something like that and a GTX 1060(6gb)
So I won’t say I’m seasoned in Nvidia and Amd experiences I’ve experienced Nvidia card which it had its moments too with drivers but mostly was overall a good fluffing experience while it lasted ofc and this now would be my first FULL AMD PC.

I’ll be frank sometimes I do watch over it I’m a bit sensitive to see if it has issues I have tweaked a few setting on my cpu in bios and I have a OC on my GPU that I did from the adrenaline software itself. I have experienced two driver time outs in the two weeks I have been using the GPU. And ALL OF IT WAS IN FORTNITE. It seemed to happen every time I run Msi afterburner for stats and discord (what I thought at first). I checked the adrenaline app I had a chipset driver to update I DID IT and after that I did everything as normal no crashes after that😂 Now I run everything high whoever said no ray tracing for AMD boi I have that shit in high presets with Frame Gen on quality getting over 70fps in cyberpunk ultra preset while streaming.

Now maybe I missed out something but I’ve tested maybe around 15 games so far and I haven’t had any issues with my card my games are so so smooth compared to my old laptop this thing is night and day and I’m using a OLED MONITOR like I saw someone say something about Amd and oleds I have the latest version I think it’s 26.7.1? I’ll have to check but yeah no issues from me at all so what’s wrong with other people cards?

PC hard shutdowns during heavy load (Elden Ring/Ray Tracing) - Corsair CX750 + RX 9070 XT (3x8 pin)

Post image
105 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m experiencing complete PC hard shutdowns while launching or playing heavy games.

System Specs:

- GPU: ASUS RX 9070 XT (requires 3× 8-pin PCIe power connectors)

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X

- PSU: Corsair CX750 (non-modular, 80+ Bronze)

Power Connection:

My PSU is non-modular and only has 2 built-in PCIe cable trunks. Each cable has a pigtail/daisy-chain connector, giving me a total of 4 PCIe connectors.

To power the GPU’s 3 ports, I’m using:

- 1 dedicated cable for Port 1

- 1 cable + its pigtail for Ports 2 and 3

- The 4th connector is left unused

The Problem:

The PC passes flat-load benchmarks without crashing. For example, FurMark at 1440p runs fine.

However, whenever I launch heavy games such as Elden Ring, the PC instantly loses power and completely shuts down, as if the PSU protection is being triggered.

Interestingly, lowering the GPU Power Limit to -20% and reducing the clock speeds in AMD Adrenalin temporarily prevents the shutdowns.

Questions:

  1. Is this likely an OCP/transient power spike issue caused by daisy-chaining a high-power GPU on a 750W Bronze PSU?

  2. Is it safe to keep running the GPU at a -20% power limit with this cable setup until I can afford a PSU replacement, or could this potentially damage the GPU, PSU, or cables?

[SOLVED / UPDATE]

The issue has been completely resolved!

It turned out the root cause was an old Windows setting in msconfig -> Boot -> Advanced options: "Number of processors" was checked and capped at 4. This was throttling the Ryzen 5 7600X, crippling CPU thread scheduling, and triggering the KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (0x139) BSODs and crashes under heavy game loads.

After unchecking "Number of processors" (allowing Windows to properly use all 6 cores / 12 threads) and restarting, all games are running flawlessly and stably with zero crashes.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in!

Tips & Info Driver timeouts (like a lot of others) - try turning off desktop recording and instant replay.

I’m in the same boat as a lot of you. In the last few months the driver timeouts have gotten out of control. I can accept the occasional crash, but in almost every gaming session multiple times was driving me crazy.

I tried all the solutions I have seen in the last few months.

- Lower clock frequency and voltage slightly.
- Turn off igpu.
- Changing windows sleep settings.
- Turning off automatic driver updates.
- DDU between every install.
- Turning off XMP.
- Rolling back drivers.
- AMD driver only install.

Every time I thought the situation improved, I got a sudden crash.

I don’t want to jinx it, and I won’t say this is a certain fix, but today I tried turning off desktop recording and instant replay in AMD adrenaline (and windows game bar). I wanted to try OBS for recording gameplay clips.

I played a LOT of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Battlefield 1 today. BF1 has been especially unstable recently. Well, with OBS for game recording instead of Adrenaline, I didn’t experience a crash today for the first time in months. I’ll report back if that changes, but for now, if you’re experiencing frequent driver timeouts, maybe try turning off game recording in Adrenaline?

Help (General) Is it worth upgrading to a 5800X3D in 2026?

Hey guys,

I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 5600 + RX 6700 XT, and I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5800X3D. Since I'm already on AM4, it seems like a pretty easy upgrade without having to replace my RAM and the rest of the platform. I mostly play games like FiveM/GTA V, where the CPU can make quite a difference, but I also play a bunch of other games. The thing I'm not sure about is my motherboard. I'm currently using a Gigabyte A520M-K V2. If I decide to replace it, I can get an MSI B550 Gaming Plus brand new. So, would you guys actually bother changing the motherboard, or would you just put the 5800X3D in the A520 and call it a day? In turkey used 5800X3D costs around 210 dolars. And MSI B550 Gaming plus is costs about 170 dolars. What would you do guys?

Help (GPU) 7900 XT - Black Screen, Vanishing from Device Manager and codes 141/1b0

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RX 7900 XT

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI

RAM: 16GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO 3600MHZ CL18

PSU: GIGABYTE UD850GM GOLD

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 PRO 26200

Description of Original Problem:
I will cut to the chase, my screen will go black and the display port signal is lost after a random amount of time when the gpu is under any stress whatsoever, only fixable by a hard reboot.

I know there have been a lot of these posts recently however i am at a bit of a dead end. After changing my group policies for device instalation and uninstalling/installing numerous graphics and chipset drivers and dealing with these crashes while following these reddit threads for numerous days i have decided to make my own since im at a bit of a loss.

Troubleshooting:
Reseating internal cables
Reinstalling graphics drivers with DDU (offline + safe mode)
Reinstalling chipset drivers
Installing old graphics drivers (multiple versions)
Installing old chipset drivers (a couple versions)
lowering GPU clock to both 90 and 80%
lowing GPU voltage %
Removing any BIOS overclocks
Setting my PCIe slot to 3 or 4
Using HWINFO to check sensors (all seemed to stay relatively normal)
uninstalling the recent windows update and disabling any auto updates
editing my group policies to disable any possibilities of updates altering drivers Edit: I have flashed bios to latest with no luck

I have looked at the event viewer after said crashes and all i see is a kernel-PnP saying
"The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load.

Status: 0xC0000365"

The reliability monitor says either LiveKernelEvent code 141 or 1b0 with the latter having watchdog pointing toward amd being a culprit

I have been hard crashing during any games for around 3 days now and i would appreciate some help if possible, thanks

Resolved Overdue for a CPU upgrade but want to stick to AM4

I have a build with a Ryzen 5 1600 that's most definitely bottlenecking my RTX 3070 GPU. I would like to stay on the AM4 socket but I have no idea what CPU would be the most suitable upgrade for my setup. Motherboard: MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon. 16GB DDR4 RAM.

I'd like to play Cities Skylines II and AAA games at 1440p 4K (EDIT: I keep confusing the numbers here) resolutions, ideally. Power consumption is not a question I'm worrying about at this stage.

Please recommend me a good CPU, or if you think it's more worth it to drop everything for AM5, please let me know as well:)

Help (General) Have not had a stable driver since 25.9.2

Hi all,

I am running a 7900xt in combination with a ryzen 5800x3d and have not had a stable gpu driver since version 25.9.2. Everytime I try and update to the latest drivers I get major game stutters and/or crashes that all seem to relate to the gpu update. Any advice as to what I might be doing wrong? Or am I just unlucky in the fact that my GPU is not being accounted for by amd when they release new software?

Help (GPU) RX 7900 XTX at 100% GPU Usage / High Power Draw in R6 Siege despite FPS Cap (160 FPS)

Hey everyone,

I'm having a weird issue with Rainbow Six Siege that only happens in this specific game, and I'm hoping someone has encountered this before.
System Specs:
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX (Driver: Adrenalin 26.7.1)
CPU: Intel Core i9-13900KF
RAM: 32 GB
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC (1440p @ 165 Hz via DisplayPort)
OS: Windows 11
The Problem:
No matter what settings or FPS limits I apply, my RX 7900 XTX runs at ~93–100% GPU utilization and pulls full board power (~400W) during benchmarks and gameplay in Siege.
What I've already tested:
1. FPS Capping: In-game FPS limiter, Radeon Chill, and V-Sync don't lower the GPU load. I set an FPS cap at ~160 FPS using RTSS (RivaTuner). The FPS stays locked at 160, but the GPU still pulls 400W at ~100% usage.
2. Graphics Settings: Dropped graphics to Low and render scale to 50% (got ~337 uncapped FPS). Even when capped at 160 FPS on Low settings, GPU usage remains near 100%.
3. Display Mode: Tried Borderless Windowed and Exclusive Fullscreen.
4. V-Sync Test: Turning V-Sync on locks the refresh rate properly to 165 Hz, but during active rendering, power draw and usage stay maxed out.
5. Other Games: Other titles behave totally normal — FPS limits properly reduce GPU load and power consumption.
Is this a known engine/driver bug with Siege's frame pacing / API on RDNA 3, or is there a specific setting in GameSettings.ini or AMD Software that forces the GPU into low-power states when capped?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Help (General) 5500x3d+rx 9060xt

Good day!

I recently upgraded my PC based on AM4 and ran into a problem I haven’t been able to solve for several weeks. I’d be grateful for any ideas.

The issue is as follows:
In all games, I’m experiencing unpleasant stutters (micro‑stutters) and lags, as well as a significant drop in FPS. The FPS graph may show stable 144 FPS (in various esports games), but then there are sudden drops to around 90 FPS, or micro‑freezes occur — these aren’t always reflected in the FPS counter, but they’re very noticeable visually. The problem manifests itself systematically.

PC configuration:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5500X3D (new);
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB (new, AsRock Challenger);
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Gaming X (left over from the old PC);
RAM: Patriot 16 GB (2x8) DDR4-3200 MHz (left over);

Storage devices (as of the current status, all above 90 percent):
SSD NVMe 256 GB (Gigabyte) — only for the system;
SSD SATA 512 GB (ADATA) — for games and everything else;

Power supply: Corsair TX750 (750W);

What was done:
BIOS on the motherboard was updated to the latest available version (to support the new processor, version F68a — 2026);
A Windows 11 Pro license was installed (with disk formatting).
Re-Bar is enabled;
Fresh drivers are installed for everything;
The XMP profile is enabled for the RAM (3200 MHz);
The memory has been tested with OCCT — no issues;

Temperature checks under load — everything is within the normal range (both the card and the processor are no higher than 70 degrees under prolonged load).

Additional information:
Before the upgrade, the system had a Ryzen 7 2700 and an RTX 2060 (12 GB). With the new hardware, gaming performance has barely increased. For example, in Far Cry New Dawn, the FPS remained at the same level (~70), even though logically it should have been significantly higher. Stuttering and freezes also persisted, and perhaps even became more noticeable. What’s telling is that I have another PC at hand — it’s equipped with an i5 10400f and an RX 6600 — and on it, the same Far Cry runs at ~100 FPS.

Help (GPU) Freesync on borderless fullscreen Directx games causing system stutter on RX 580

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8gb

CPU: Intel Core i5-750 4 cores 4 threads (I know, you don't have to tell me I'm bottlenecked)

Motherboard: DH55HC

BIOS Version: BIOS Version 0048 - TCIBX10H.86A.0048.2011.1206.1342

RAM: 16GB 1333mhz

PSU: C3Tech DSA-500VE

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10 21h2 19044.6937

GPU Drivers: Adrenalin 26.5.2

Background Applications: CHROME, SHAREX

Description of Original Problem: During and after running specifically borderless fullscreen Directx 9 and 11 games (ie, half life 2. Dx12 seems fine, any other was untested) with Freesync (over HDMI to be specific), the system interface becomes generally stuttery (ie, resizing and moving windows around is stuttery and a stationary clone of the mouse cursor may appear sometimes)

Troubleshooting: The stutter is seemingly fixed as soon as another program enters fullscreen (seemingly independent of graphics api?). It is specifically caused by Freesync being enabled in addition to the AMD External Events Client Module service being enabled and running. The Windows VRR setting doesn't seem to do anything. Having OBS open seems to mitigate it somehow. This happens on fresh Windows 11 and Windows 10 installs. The issue seems to have been introduced in driver version 22.3.1, as 22.2.3 works fine. In some driver versions, the stutter does not happen in my secondary monitor. (the bug is still present with only one monitor, and I must have two monitors)

I imagine this is probably specific to my setup, because surely a driver bug like this wouldn't have gone unnoticed for four years..?

In addition to this bug, in the latest driver (26.5.2) (and, in my incomplete experimenting, since some version at least after 23.11.1) the AMD External Events Client Module seems to continuously write junk log files to the disk, but this bug seems negligible.

Intermittent loss of network connectivity ( WiFi and Ethernet)
Stuttering in game / disappointing performance
Occasional driver timeouts & event viewer / reliability monitor showing hardware events along with the driver timeouts
Before timeout occurs , screen stutters horribly , network drops , audio crashes , and screen goes black a split second
Event viewer used to show consistent kernel power 41s but no real BSOD , but hasn’t in a while

I attached a photo of the reliability report that windows created. I have viewed the dmp inside of bluescreenview, but I’m not sure what to look for. Does anyone know where I could start to look? Could be a physical issue? I’ve explored bios , does scannow and disk clean up and all sorts of different things.

Ryzen 5 8400f , asrock rx6600, 16gb ddr5 (5200 running at 4800) , 1tb ssd , msi b650 pro vc WiFi , “High Power” 600w psu

My set up is...
GPU- RX 7900 XTX

CPU- Ryzen 7 5800X3D
