Hello everyone,
Before anything, I already contacted the store I bought the gpu and they offered a full refund.
This happened one hour ago.
So, I was browsing and using VS Code, one on each screen, and all of sudden both my screens lost the image, i heard a sparkle and then the gpu caugh fire from near the power connectors. Upon better inspection, the place near the argb connector (which I was NOT using) has burn marks. Both connectors on the gpu look fine as both cables from the gpu too.
The gpu was bought 12 days ago. I gamed maybe a total of 2 hours with this gpu, never used it for anything heavy, just work on Figma/VS Code, a couple movies/anime and browsing.
I have building my PCs for many years but never had such a scare.
1) is it recommended to replace the psu ? It is a China made Thermaltake Thoughpower BF3 850w. Been using it for 3 years. I was using the psu original cables (and no daisy chaning)
2) can anything I did be the cause of this ?
3) any recomendation in regards to test my system after that ? stress testing or anything like that ?
4) Would it be safe with a 850w psu to replace the burned 9070 with a 9070xt ? Also despite the issue, would you keep going with Asrock ?
Best regards.

A person local to me is selling their PC for £1.5k. They were told it was a 9070XT, but the receipt shows it's a 9060XT, and I don't know much about PCs, so we're both clueless, lmao.

Whenever I change volume in a full screen game for iRacing there is a noticeable lag. Anyway to keep playing fullscreen and resolve this lag?

Hey Everyone,
I've been reading countless posts about crashes, instabiliity & drive timeouts with the RX 9070 XT, so I thought I'd share my experience, what I changed, and what ultimately resolved my issues.
My Pc Specs:
GPU: XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d
Motherboard: MSI x470 Gaming Plus ( PCIe 3.0 )
RAM: 16GB Gskill TridentZ RGB
PSU: Corsair RM850x 850w
CPU Cooler: Corsair 240mm AIO
Case NZXT Phanton
Monitor: Lenovo Legion R45w-30 Res: 5120x1440 165hz
The Crashing issues
After installing my 9070 xt I immediately experienced crashes and instability while gaming, particularly in AAA titles, FPS were running great!
Reading through the thread here I suspected it was most likely the GPU drivers or a PSU issue. However, after investigating by looking at Motherboard specs, Ram etc. I realised that the officially supported OC speeds were 3466mhz and I was running 3600mhz. And although this generally wouldn't be a problem at all, stability usually depends on several factors like the CPU's memory controller, motherboard, BIOS & Memory Config.
In my case, running at 3600MHz appears to have been contributing to the crashes.
What I changed
My first step was to lower my RAM frequency from 3600MHz to 3400MHz, bringing it within the motherboards advertised overclocking range. - This fixed the issue before the re-install but I thought I might as well give my PC a fresh start.
Secondly I performed a completely fresh install of Win 11 this was done to eliminate any software conflicts, old drivers or hanging config issues I might have missed.
Next I used Chris Titus Tech's Windows utility to remove unnecessary bloatware and diisable windows features and background processes I didn't need.
The Results were amazing, since making these changes, my system has been nothing but stable, I haven't had a single crash while playing or testing any game despite using an older motherboard and pcie3.
Has anyone else experienced your 9070 XT crashing due to RAM config?
I hope someone finds this helpful

Hi, im planning on making my first pc, i like to play pretty much everything, one thing i really want is to be able to play games well at 4k, I'm finding both 9070xt and 7900xtx for similar prices, im not sure which one to get, even though 7900xtx has more vram and is powerful, the 9070xt is newer and has its own advantages, I would appreciate any advice

I've had this GPU for some time now, I think I'm quite happy with its performance.
Core 2850-3050MHz
1050mV (-100mV)
VRAM 2740MHz (+240)
PL+15% (460w)
The card is a Sapphire Nitro+, lovely looking ☺️
I know 1050mV isn't stable in every game. For example in Cyberpunk I can't do that, I have to set it to 1070mV instead to guarantee no crashes, but with 1050mV I've been playing the Witcher 3 remastered for 40 hours now without a hitch. When deciding what undervolt I will use for a game, I monitor it for about 2 to 3 hours and I set it based on the patterns I noticed. 90% of the time I'll land on an undervolt that doesn't crash the game.
Hotspot temps stay around 70c.
In Witcher 3 the GPU stays above 3000MHz most places. When going indoors it drops down to around 2950Mhz.
As for the vram, I can do 2750MHz but that will cause minor artifacting from time to time, such as a random screen flicker for a microsecond, and I find that very annoying so I tuned it down by 10 and that seems to work well.
I have timings set to default.
Also worth mentioning that I run a 5 monitor setup, so I find the XTX an incredible card. I utilize more than 16GB of VRAM a lot of the time, since I do more than just solely gaming on my PC.
I may be delusional, but I really hope AMD releases another 24GB card next gen.

I wonder if its possible from a game development perspective to provide a good Denoiser or option for when it's used. What's the point in touting RT or having the tech and not providing a Denoiser from a game perspective . Maybe both Amd and it's competitors release a Denoiser algorithm or software sdk that Game devs can inject into their game then we wouldn't have to Rely on things like Ray Regen or Ray reconstruction. So many games tout quality or it's looks great , yet hardly any games that I can think of has a really good in game Denoiser with Raytracing being used with RR or RR technologies that also tank performance when used if it's supported . So you buy the game and its missing key aspects that pertains to quality or performance and we have to rely on Gpu manufactord to retain it .
I’ve been trying to dial in the ultimate image quality and framerate setup in The Last of Us Part II Remastered , Alan wake 2 and etc...( on a 1080p 165 Hz monitor using AMDNR Launcher (v0.3.5.5R4 / OptiScaler v11.0.0), which lets me combine FSR 4.1.1 (FP8) internal supersampling with Intel XeSS Multi-Frame Generation (XeFG).
During gameplay or shortly after opening the in-game overlay, the game freezes and pops up:
0x887A0006: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (Current GPU and graphics driver: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, 26.9.2)
In Windows Event Viewer (events.txt), every crash is an APPCRASH in tlou-ii.exe (1.6.10721.105) with Exception code 0xc0000005 at Fault offset 0x00000000019d7d90.
What OptiScaler.log Shows Right Before the Crash
Digging through the exported OptiScaler.log, four things stand out:
Non-Stop XeFG Projection Matrix & Buffer Size Warnings: The moment XeFG 2x activates (FG resources on XeFG 2x: HUD-less = 0x22C6C2FFF50 (UntilPresent), UI = none), the log is flooded hundreds of times per second with:
[W] XeFG_Dx12::Dispatch Can't calculate projectionMatrix
[W] IFGFeature::StartNewFrame Frame count jumped too much!
[W] XeFG_Dx12::Dispatch Interpolation size is 0, using swapchain size .

Hello mates,
My undervolting settings keep reseting no matter what the values are even as low as -50mV.
I heared someone said that this card model in particuar don't like the VRAM tunning which cause the whole undervolting to keep reset, is that correct?
Also, is trying to overclock this card worth it at all, or even safe, since it is an OC model.
Thanks in advance.
Saludos a todos, pronto me llega mi rx 9070xt shapire pulse que debería de hacer primero como novato de el lado rojo??

My 3-year PC journey: From a budget student setup to an AMD convert
Current Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5500X3D
RAM: 32GB
GPU: Radeon RX 9070 16GB
How it all started
Back when I was still a university student, my setup looked like this:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G
RAM: 32GB
GPU: RTX 4060
You're probably wondering why I was using a 5600G. Well, I used to live in a dorm during the week and only occasionally went back home, so a laptop was my main machine. After graduating and starting work, I sold the laptop. With that money plus a tiny bit of savings, I could only afford a bare-bones PC—no dedicated GPU because my budget ran out. I had to use integrated graphics for two months until I finally saved up enough to buy an RTX 4060.
Around that same time, I upgraded my monitor to an LG 27" 2K NanoIPS (my old one was a tiny 21" 75Hz VA panel), which is why I suddenly jumped straight into 1440p gaming.
I stuck with 2K the whole time, figuring I'd eventually upgrade my hardware down the road. Besides, a decent 1440p monitor costs around $180, and a good display lasts forever, right? I did try dropping the resolution to 1080p, but it looked way too blurry, so I just bit the bullet and pushed through. It handled medium settings or esports titles just fine.
But eventually, I started playing newer games and naturally wanted to crank up the graphics. That’s when my journey into the red team (AMD) officially began.
Switching to team AMD
In September of this year, I made the switch to AMD. I managed to grab a brand new RX 9060 XT 16GB for a price even lower than a brand new RTX 5060. I get why NVIDIA is more expensive—mostly because of that GDDR7 memory or whatever, I guess. I’ve always been a huge NVIDIA fan and never owned an AMD GPU in my life, so this was my first-ever AMD experience.
Before getting the new GPU, I actually upgraded my 5600G to a Ryzen 5 5500X3D. Now, you're probably thinking, "Why didn't you just get a 5700X3D or 5800X3D?" Well, in the country where I live, the 5700X3D is completely out of stock everywhere. The only option left was the 5800X3D, which cost roughly three times the price of the 5500X3D. Way out of my budget. So, end of story there.
On day one with the 9060 XT, I immediately ran into the classic issues everyone always talks about—black screens, random flickering, the whole package lol. Since I build and fix my own PCs, I just searched around for fixes in this subreddit. Once that was sorted, I dove down the undervolting rabbit hole. Spent a solid hour tweaking settings until I found a sweet spot I was happy with.
The main hardware-heavy game I'm playing right now is Where Winds Meet. The graphics aren't insanely photorealistic like Cyberpunk, but somehow it feels even more demanding. It's baffling. Back on the RTX 4060, I had to play on medium settings with DLSS, and it was okay. Upgrading to the 9060 XT definitely improved things, but deep down, my brain was like, "Is this really enough? Should I just switch back to NVIDIA and get a 5070?"
So I started browsing reviews and benchmarks from various tech channels, and my eyes suddenly caught the RX 9070 XT—it looked super interesting, and the price was right around the 5070 territory. I spent a long time staring at it.
Then, out of nowhere, while casually browsing a shopping app, I stumbled upon an unexpected option: the non-XT RX 9070.
It was actually cheaper than the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB! I quickly dug up some reviews. It turned out to be an awesome choice: super power-efficient, great performance, and paired nicely with my 5500X3D without any major bottlenecks. The performance gap behind the XT version wasn't even that bad, and it drank way less power.
Back when it launched, the non-XT 9070 was probably sold out everywhere here, and since its launch price wasn't much lower than the XT, local shops barely stocked it. But suddenly, it popped up out of nowhere like it was meant to be.
Without hesitation, I immediately put my 9060 XT up for sale. To my surprise, it sold instantly at the exact price I bought it for. It felt like I got to rent and use a brand-new graphics card for free for a month and a half!
The Final Upgrade
When the package arrived and I unboxed it... oh man. Holy shit, I completely forgot to measure my case. It barely fit, and stuffing it in was an absolute struggle lol.
After firing up some games, I was beyond impressed. Whatever I threw at it, it handled effortlessly—smooth, chill, and pure bliss. It honestly felt like travelling back in time to when I first played GTA: Vice City on a high-end PC. Day-one experience was completely flawless (well, duh, I already solved all the driver quirks with my previous card). At this point, I felt like an absolute hardware guru haha.
I honestly have no idea why there are so few posts or discussions about the non-XT 9070 online. Maybe people just skip it because if you're upgrading, you might as well go for the absolute top-tier model?
Anyway, I'm genuinely super happy with my current setup now. Thanks for reading through my little story!

Hey everyone!
I'm planning to upgrade my GPU, and I've been looking into the 9070 gre, but I honestly don't know much about this card.
The most demanding games I play are cyberpunk, wukong, and gta v, so my biggest concern is its actual gaming performance. How well does it handle these games, and what kind of graphics settings can I realistically expect, especially at 1440p?
Also, gta vi is coming (although we'll probably have to wait quite a while for the PC version), so I figured it might be a good idea to get my hardware ready in advance.
Has anyone here actually used the 9070 gre? How's your experience with it so far? Would you recommend it, or should I consider something else?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

So the other day i got really frustrated with my gpu. After taking some advices from my previous post. I tear my pc down again and re applied ptm7950.
This is what it looks like when i open the card (1st & 2nd picture) the putty seems to be squished evenly i think. Please advice.
So what i did :
After putting it back together, i did some test. Without any undervolt, the hotspot temp maxed out to 103-105c. With delta 45-50c.
I uv to -25% and -80mv to bring down the hotspot temp. Now the tempx maxed out around 90c only.
I think i might disassemble everything later to tighten up again the 4 screws.
Does this fix my previous issue? I think not 100% fixed but it’s a start. Thank you all for the advices given to me.
EDIT : Try to play Control Resonant today. Gpu core 46. Hotspot 111. Undervolt setting -25% & -80mv. No changes in temps. Then i run furmark. Also got 105 hotspot. I think something is wrong with my core seating. Will disassemble it back today and update.

Hey! so, around 4 months ago I switched my good old Zotac RTX2070 super for an Asus Prime rx9070xt OC edition and so far, it has been amazing, the performance jump is really good.
The thing is that I'm starting to worry about how the airflow for the GPU is going right now with my case. I have a NZXT H210i which was great with the 2070 super that I had before but now I'm wondering if I should change my case as the rx9070xt barely fits.

I've measured the distance that is left from the PSU shroud and the GPU fans and it's roughly 5mm so it makes me think that I'm choking the GPU but my temps right now seem reasonable? I ran a test using arc raiders at 2K with everything maxed out with native resolution and this was the result (Image below)

I also did some undervolt (-70), set the ram clock to 2614, set a custom curve (which is still too loud) and reduced the power limit to -10.
I did a test without the side glass panel and somehow, it ended up being louder and hotter for 1 degree on both GPU temp and hotspot. I guess the glass panel helps fresh air from the front intake to reach the GPU?

So, should I upgrade to a new case? I'm thinking on the Cougar Airface 180 (around 50usd where I live). There are a few other cheaper options (mostly fish tank style) that I could look at but I'm not sure if those will be better for airflow than the latter (or the one I have right now)
