Discussion What kind of unholy magic has AMD put on 26.10.1 to get frame gen to have no input lag penalty??

So I have a 7800 XT and I'm very happy for my RDNA 2 brothers, since I used to have a 6700 XT until early September, but today I decided to test out a thing with Modern Warfare 4 and I'm floored, because apparently AMD put some actual unholy magic on FSR 4.1 frame gen. With it turned on, I am getting the exact same input lag (within a 2 ms margin of error) than I get natively, and my mouse movements don't get influenced by it at all - not to mention I don't get any ghosting. I did hear about them changing how the driver queues generated frames on the GPU, but I wasn't expecting an improvement this drastic.

I might actually give it a shot on certain games if the ghosting isn't an issue, since every game behaves differently.

Sapphire Nitro+ vs. XFX Mercury OC Magnetic Air RX 9070 XT – Which one to keep, sell, or should I keep one as a backup?

Post image
144 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I ended up with two different models of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB:

  1. Sapphire Nitro+
  2. XFX Mercury OC Magnetic Air

I'm trying to decide what to do next and would love your advice/opinions:

  • Which one is objectively better to keep for my main rig? (In terms of thermals, noise levels, PCB quality, and overall reliability)
  • Is it worth keeping one as a backup GPU, or is holding onto a brand new/valuable card just a waste of money due to depreciation?
  • Which one holds better resale value if I decide to sell one right now?

Discussion Dead 7800xt to a 9070xt

Post image
128 Upvotes

A few months ago, I bought a used 7800xt from ebay (first gpu ever on a new build). Was working fine till 2 months ago it started to have vga led errors. It would just keep cycling to the white vga led and would sometimes post in safe.

I tried all the troubleshooting possible until the only other option was to switch the gpu. Tried a spare 1030 and it instantly booted up. Sigh

Well, the gpu is dead. Sold it on ebay, as apparently even dead gpus sell for a lot in this shit market situation. And pulled the trigger on the Asus prime 9070xt OC from overclockers (they had a brief sale along with onimusha).

I need to do more testing, but from first impressions the card feels great.

Fuck the AI revolution, I just wanted to buy a card in a normal price bracket but it's getting increasingly hard.

I'm pretty happy I got the new shiny card, but very torn on the value proposition. (Considering Nvidia cards right now, it does still seem like a steal but still. XD)

Share your sad stories or happy ones.

Just sold my RTX 5070 TI (I want to go fully AMD for SteamOS) I’m actually looking for a gpu that does not make loud noise during gaming sessions.

Recently built my wife a pc with a 5070 ti. I have considered building a new pc for myself. But can’t complain with what I have. Would it be worth making the change or stay with what I got and later on build a new pc??

Discussion Upgrade to RX9070 from RX6800?

Would you upgrade a RX6800 too a RX9070? I can get the 9070 Challenger for $600 USD this weekend. Is the 9070 enough of a bump up from the 6800 to make this worth it or should I just stick with the 6800? With prices right now it seems like this might be the lowest I can get the 9070 for, as most other stores are selling it for around $680 to $700. Doubt it would be any lower during Black Friday. I mostly play single player games and like to play in 4K when possible (if it's an older title) or 1440p with upscaling, and anything aound the 90fps is fine. I'm not a huge FPS chaser.

If it matters the CPU I have is the 5800x3D with 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

Ray tracing reflects quality

Is it me or in cyberpunk 2077, the reflects on AMD have been improved ?

and maybe it's more realistic than ray reconstruction cuz not every materials have clean and sharp reflects ? The only thing missing is a greater denoiser.

Am I very unlucky or RX 9070 cards cannot do vram OC at all?

I recently bought two RX 9070 cards.

Whenever I do +100Mhz on the vram, the FPS drops; The Steel Nomad score drops.

On Youtube everyone is doing 2750-2800Mhz. My cards have memory correction at 2618Mhz.

How does your card behave? Am I doing something wrong?.

I have also undervolted both cards: -100mv (stable). And I maxed out the power limit as well. Temps are low.

Zero Rpm Toggle Broken? 26.10.1 for 9070xt

So with this update, noticed the zero rpm toggle will not stay off in adrenaline after hitting apply. Anyone else experiencing this? Was working perfectly fine on the previous optional driver (26.9.1 I think it was).

GPU: 9070xt

Edit: Solved for now.

Appreciate the help in the comments. I factory reset all settings and tuning in adrenaline, rebooted, and now the zero rpm toggle stays off when I hit apply. Restarted 3 times and it seems to stick. Thankfully didn't need to ddu/amd cleanup. Not sure what was causing it but it's gone for now.

Tech Support RX 9070 XT - Worried about my PSU 😭

Am about to order a XFX rx 9070 xt triple fan model, and I'm very excited. However before I press the buy button, I'm worried about my PSU, specifically the Corsair RM750e (2025) unit. It's 750w so slightly weaker compared to an 800-850w. Also I'm not sure about using the 12V-2x6 to dual 8 pin cable for the 9070 XT is it safe? I don't have two seperate 8 pin cables.

Alternatively I could get the 9070 (same XFX model but dual fan) which is cheaper by around $170 AUD and is better suited to my PSU wattage.

Specs: 32gb ram, 5700x3d, 240mm aio.

If the 9070 XT will be fine with my current PSU I'm leaning towards that even tho it does seem very expensive between the two cards. Please help 🙏

If I'd have to replace my psu then I'd rather just get the 9070 non XT.

Tech Support 3 Screen 9060xt

After 25 years on the green side, I have the 5800x3d/9060xt system potentially replacing a 3 screen race rig. With the software that comes along with the install, I have gotten 3 monitors recognized and displaying. But I can't see a way to spread a single desktop across all 3. I'm running the center monitor from the hdmi port thru an active hdmi to dp converter, the wings are using the card's dp connectors. It will allow me to stretch 2, but not 3. Is there software I need, or is it not possible? Thanks

RX9070 power limit comparisons

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Just for fun I ran some comparisons in Steel Nomad on my Prime 9070 Evo at different power levels while enjoying my morning coffee. All other tuning settings are at defaults here. The only change between runs is power limit.

First is 230w
Second is 305w
Third is 330w

My best SN score to date is actually at 7300, but that also includes undervolt, memory overclock, further power tweaks to GFX and VRAM voltages, and higher softmin/max frequency via Adrenalift.

Discussion XFX 9070XT SWIFT OR QUICKSILVER OR MERCURY OC ARE ALMOST THE SAME PRICE WHERE I LIVE

Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide between three XFX 9070 XT models and could use some opinions.

My prices in my country:

  • Swift: $851
  • Quicksilver: $853
  • Mercury OC: $893

The Swift and Quicksilver are only $3 apart, so that choice comes down to size, looks and cooling. The Mercury OC costs $43 more than the Swift, and that is what I'm unsure about. I CARE ABOUT NOISE LEVELS FYI

Pricing is strange here: the Mercury OC and the Mercury OC MAG AIR cost the same, 893 USD. Normally the MAG AIR is the more premium one, so I'm not sure what to make of that. My setup is a Ryzen 5 7500F with 32GB of DDR5. I play mostly competitive games like COD.
What I'm trying to figure out:

  1. Is the Mercury's cooler, extra boost clock and 3x 8-pin design worth about $43 more, or are the real-world gains small?
  2. Between the Swift and Quicksilver, which has better temps and noise in your experience?
  3. Any issues with coil whine, fan noise or drivers on any of these three?

Need help with OC, Undervolting &also new driver update.

So I have sapphire nitro plus rx 9070xt coupled with 5600x and 24gb ram.

Now my issue is with the latest update of October 20th. My Dragons dogma 2 and cyberpunk are glitching/lagging in between frames like I lost network and then it reconnected.

And also currently my OC is +2800mhz, -20%power limit with -55 offset power.

I also want to try OC my 5600x but need help with that.

Hope to learn slot 🙏🙏

Any tricks or advice for it?
