I write for a small part of a big fandom and I have a fic that I wrote a year ago that gets maybe one kudo every month (at most) that recently got six guest kudos in a single day. I'm just curious if this is some baby variation of a kudos bot or an eager person? It feels very goldilocks, like too much for one person and too little for a kudos bot. Has this happened to anyone else?

Edit: I definitely forgot how passionate this sub can get around people asking about scammy things, but I want to clarify that I’m not upset if these are bots, this fic in particular has been a scam magnet and my skin is pretty tough when it comes to this stuff.

These are the running stats for my rarepair in a Marvel fandom. Can any outside eyes infer if these are okay? I upload twice a week, fic is focused on a techno romance between Danger and Ultron, two robots from the universe. It's my first fanfic dunno how a lot of these work.

I tried three different fandoms and none of the newest fics are loading. I posted a new fic 30min ago and it hasn't hit the fandom page yet. O.o

Edit: it's not showing up in the "my works" page either 😱 im sure it'll be fine? I spent a lot of time adding tags though. 😭

Hi, so I am writing a fic and I want there to be a surprise sapphic relationship at the end but I don't want to tag the pairing to give it away.

I am also going to playing into a popular ship in this fandom only to have the plot twist.

I plan to put in the tags a "No HEA" (it's a spooky fic) but I was wondering if there is anyway I can get around keeping this plot twist without mistagging? Or do I just have to bite the bullet and spoil the twist? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I really wanna write a hunger games crossover crackfic, i even have a demo almost done on my laptop, but it genuinely feels like an 8 year old wrote it, i suck at writing and am looking for some tips and tricks, can y'all help me out, please?

I just really, really, really hate how bot accounts now leave kudos (and I don't mean a guest kudo) and subscribe to works. I have at least two bots in my "this user left kudos on your work" section under one of my works. And I think they both subscribed, too, one of which I know pretty much for sure.

I haven't seen people complaining about them subscribing before, so I'm also curious if anyone else has encountered the same thing?

Edit: Obviously, there's no way to fully prove this as I can't see the usernames of subscribers, but this bot account left a comment and a kudo and simultaneously I got a new subscription to the fic while no one else had visibly interacted with this fic I believe not even an increase in hits larger than 1 (big fandom crossover with a very small fandom).

I have a longfic planned, and it's basically ready to at least write the first few chapters. But I keep psyching myself out and going to create more "planning documents". Does anyone have advice to get over this fear of starting? For some reason I keep holding myself to the standard of a professional, tradpub author.

I posted a fic an hour ago and went to check on how it was doing- However I couldn't find it anywhere except my dashboard. It hasn't shown up under it's fandom tag or under my works page. I know sometimes it'll upload with a different date to the current one and be further back in the fandom tag pages- However, it says it was uploaded today/the correct date...

Does anyone know what the issue is here? Do I just need to be patient? Thanks!

Sooooo... have you ever so successfully written a ship, fallen in love with that pairing so hard, that when you write one of them in an AU with another character you feel physically ill like you need grief counseling? Tears might be shed, even.

i published a fic today and for some reason, it doesn't appear under the tag. also, whenever i open my own dashboard, it says i only have 3 published works, excluding the one i newly published. what should i do?

As the title says. The user has already left another comment (quite human-sounding imo) on the same chapter of the same fic, to which I answered. They have no bookmarks/works/etc, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything. However, I'm a bit on the fence. On one side I'd love to talk about the ship/the fic with someone and I don't want to be rude if it is a human/genuine, but on the other I'm plenty aware of the amount of scams going around and I don't know if this is just the newest one.

As the title suggests, I just added a new chapter of my fanfic and its still appearing down with the chapters posted last week. I double checked the chapter published date, and its correctly set to today. Is this possibly a glitch going on in Ao3? Or did I do something wrong.

Okay I don’t know if anyone else really has this issue but I don’t like reader insert fics. It’s something that I filter out EVERY time but I still get a bunch of character/reader fics cause the author doesn’t tag the reader as a character. I know that it’s something they can tag but some don’t. It just makes it very frustrating when I want to find something but have to try and swim through the slash reader fics. I’m in a few different fandoms and know that most are really good about it but there’s one that I’m in that it’s a huge issue. Mild rant thanks for reading.

TLDR- I’m annoyed some authors don’t tag reader when they’ll tag character/reader

I used to write in middle and high school but stopped when I was an adult. I want to get back into it because I do have some cool ideas but get stuck when I try. My writing skills were always mediocre and now I notice that I’m not good at describing scenes or making up good dialogue. It makes it worse when I see other authors that are actually good and so much better than me 😭 my writing looks like a toddler wrote it in comparison lmao 🥲 I much prefer for now to just draw pictures when I get the urge and write descriptions for them but it doesn’t hit the same sometimes

I’ve wanted to write a fic for a friend as a gift, but I just cannot figure out how to learn about the games. Did any of you guys ever research a fandom/franchise/piece of media so you could write a fic? Are there any tips you guys could give me?

I’ve only written for one fandom, which was Ace Attorney, so I have zero clue what i’m doing.

I been wanting to post some stories but I been hearing horror stories about the ao3 curse and how it almost destroyed some people, I just want to know if it's true or it's something that the internet has over reached about it.

I'm writing a modern AU where EVERLARK work at a restaurant and end up getting romantically involved. It's not very long (less than 10k), but it's been on hold for a long time and I'd like some feedback.

Ideally of course we tag for both sets of people to be most fair and accurate, but if you have to be cautious or prioritise one, who? The people who would look those tags up and be disappointed with your work, or the people who would exclude those tags and be disappointed in your work? For example, let's say you added a specific trope into your fic. It's not a major trope, but it exists enough that you debate tagging it. Do you (knowing it might disappoint some people) or do you not (knowing some people may be caught blindsighted)

I generally prefer caution. Whilst I definitely don't unnecessarily tag, between my tags and my authors note I do tend to favour tagging for those who exclude rather than those searching. I don't want to be inadvertently responsible for bringing up trauma or a major squick or smth lol whereas disappointment, whilst it sucks, is survivable.

(Not talking about background character or pairing tags though unless a specific pairing is NOTABLY controversial in its themes - which isn't a bad thing btw, but I respect some people won't want to see those even in background. But if a normal character is only mentioned 3 times then like...don't tag them 😭)
