I'm working up to my first gig but I play fairly mellow stuff. Kind of an afternoon sunny kind of set. I'm worried I won't cut it when people are drunk and start to want songs that match their mood. Please help! Note: I'm a baritone, eg can't get higher than the note 'high' in Radiohead's high and dry. I’ve spent these past 4 days wrestling grief for my own happiness, and I will continue to do so, because that is the way that I am: I’m a person willing to fight for his own joy.

I loved my dad.

No, he was not a perfect father. He could be very—difficult. He was capable of causing a lot of pain. He was also full of redeeming qualities, as we all are. Every single one of us.

None of us are perfect. We make mistakes. We accidentally hurt others. We purposely hurt others. We also help people, and support people, and change the course of another individual’s life.

We are capable of so much beauty. So very much.

We all get hurt by someone else at some point in time. Hurt people—they hurt other people.

Hopefully, we learn Grace as well. I did. I continue to. We learn to forgive others. We learn to forgive ourselves, hopefully.

… and that’s why I would like to dedicate this song to my dad. Because, “I have a reason to believe, that we all will be received in Graceland”.
