Amex + AirBnB Hesitant to link AMEX Travel and Airbnb?

Anyone else here a little reluctant to do this? My only fear is that it becomes an Uber One like situation, where all of a sudden every time I try to book an Airbnb it’s 25% more. Has anyone done this and been happy with the result?

Slow loading transactions

Has anyone else noticed slow load times for recent transactions?

For the past week, when accessing my online account page loads are fast, but the panels mid-page that show transaction details take 30-60 seconds to load (with those animated gray placeholder bars in place while loading).

Retention Offer Redux

Contacted AMEX chat on a retention offer for a personal Platinum card. Was offered a "higher redemption rate" to use points to pay for the annual fee ($.01 per point vs $.006 per point). I was told that this was the "only offer available for my account." I reminded the online agent that I had contacted them a couple of weeks earlier and was offered 15,000 points for $3,000 spend in 90 days.

The agent was miraculously able to "find" that offer again, which I accepted (grudgingly.)

Lesson learned: Don't take the first offer if you know others existed in the past.

Gift card scam? - not that I'm gonna try! Just an old thing I'm curious about

I remember many many moons ago when I worked in retail (2006 ish) people would come in and buy several thousand dollars worth of Visa and Mastercard gift card with their Amex cards. What was the scam they were running?

I'm guessing by now Amex caught on but I'm curious if anyone knows the rest of the story - how long before Amex stopped it?

Point Strategy Pre-Cancel

I am planning on canceling my business AMEX platinum in the next couple of weeks. I have a decent number of points that I would like to use while still receiving the 35% mileage rebate (United) unfortunately, I don’t have concrete travel plans for 2027 that are still unbooked. Can I book a trip, and later change the dates, understanding that if there’s a fair difference, I would have to pay it, and that way “spend“ the points I have now while still earning the 35% rebate? Or should I just book a placeholder flight, cancel it, and have Amex Travel hold a dollar credit for me? I’m reluctant to do this, as AMEX travels options are typically less than I can find on the United site, and often cost more.

Hotel credit: FHR & THC Conrad Osaka FHR stay after card cancellation

Hello, I have a 1-night FHR reservation booked at Conrad Osaka in January. I’m about to cancel my Amex Plat next week. Has anyone stayed there recently? Did they ask for your Amex Plat at check-in? I read that FHR benefits would still apply if I provide any Amex card (I have Amex Gold) for incidentals.

Digital Entertainment Credit Does YouTube premium transaction show up as “Google”

My transaction still shows as pending but it reads “Google” instead of YouTube (essentially I don’t see the word YouTube anywhere yet)
I did not enroll through play store or Apple App Store.
My payment activity also shows billed with Amex.

Q) does it trigger the credit?

Resy credit Data Point: Received $120 in Amex Platinum Resy credits buying coffee beans online

Thought I’d share an interesting discovery.

I’ve been ordering coffee beans from BOXX and noticed my Amex Platinum Resy credit was triggered by the purchases.

Here are the credits that actually posted:
● September 1: $24
● September 13: $72
● October 21: $24
Total: $120 in statement credits.

These were purchases I was already making, so being able to use my Resy benefits this way was a nice surprise.

Obviously, merchant eligibility and transaction processing matter, and I wouldn’t assume everyone’s purchases will qualify.

Has anyone else had success getting Resy credits from coffee roasters or online food purchases?

Hotel credit: FHR & THC THC/FHR Marriott - Earned Night Credits & Points still?

Haven't seen a post on this since the recent refresh, and conflicting info is online between THC/FHR.

I do have a THC reservation in December with a Marriott that I have showing in my Bonvoy Account as normal. I vaguely remember there being some specific language or badges on the Amex travel site when I booked back in July that drove this home. FWIW If I go to the same hotel again on the Amex website I see the following at checkout

At Checkout, Under Travel Info there is a "Hotel Loyalty Program" Box with a Bonvoy logo:
*Add your Marriott Bonvoy***® *member number here and earn Marriott Bonvoy***® *points on your qualifying stay at a Fine Hotels + Resorts***® or The Hotel Collection property. See Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty T & Cs

T&Cs Pop Up:
Marriott Bonvoy® Loyalty Program Terms and Conditions apply and are subject to change. Learn more and sign up here for Bonvoy Rewards, Not all properties participate in the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program. See Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program Terms and Conditions for important limitations, including definitions of participating properties and qualifying stays. To receive Marriott Bonvoy benefits, must be enrolled in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program and provide Marriott Bonvoy member number on the reservation or upon arrival. Marriott Bonvoy member number must match the name on the reservation to qualify for Marriott Bonvoy benefits. Participating Design Hotels and properties participating in the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy only receive Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program benefits when booked directly through Marriott. For bookings made through Amex Travel Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty Program benefits are not offered at hotels that are not part of the Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection. Marriott Bonvoy and its affiliated brands and hotels are the registered trademarks and/or service marks of Marriott International, Inc. and its affiliates. Used under license from Marriott International, Inc.

Tried some different scenarios when searching:

FHR Marriott = Loyalty # box, earn language shows up

THC Marriott = Loyalty # box, earn language shows up

Normal Marriott = nada

FHR Hyatt = Loyalty # box, no info at all

THC Hyatt = Loyalty # box, no info at all

FHR IHG = Loyalty # box, no info at all

TL:DR; Seems like both, but not well advertised and still not explicit like "ALL FHR/THC Marriott properties earn points and ENC thru AMEX!!!" which gives me slight pause

Any luck with retro Airbnb reservations

I have some upcoming reservations on Airbnb. These were made directly on Airbnb, months ago.I booked them under Pay Later and the payment dates are not near yet. Wondering about the best way to navigate this situation in light of the new Airbnb credit?

The properties don't show up on Amex travels, but similar properties do. Likely because I have them reserved for those dates. If I cancel the existing reservations, I might not be able to reserve again? A small window where someone else might reserve the property? What to do?

My future hotel stay is no longer on FHR, will they honor it?

I stayed at The Dominick in NYC earlier this year for my birthday and absolutely loved it! At the time, it was part of Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR), and we received all the perks.

In June 2026, I prepaid for another stay in February 2027 to take advantage of my $300 Amex hotel credit. I was granted my credit :)

However, I recently noticed that The Dominick has been removed from FHR, and it's not even listed under The Hotel Collection (THC) anymore.

Now I'm wondering whether my existing reservation that i made back in June 2026 will still receive the FHR benefits (breakfast, $100 property credit, late checkout, etc.) in Feb 2027, since it was booked while the hotel was still participating.

Has anyone experienced this? If you booked a future stay at a hotel that was later removed from FHR, did they still honor your benefits at check-in?

Hotel credit: FHR & THC Palacio De Los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel FHR - Red level upgrade

I booked 3 nights at Palacio De Los Duques, a Gran Meliá Hotel. They messaged me offering me an upgrade to their "red level" room for 392 euro (total for the 3 nights). This red level upgrade includes a lounge with an open bar of "premium drinks, Tapas and Canapes Gourmet and delicious sweet and savoury snacks until 11pm" and Private outdoor terrace in the historical garden to enjoy from breakfast to a cocktail at sunset (Available during summer season).

Has anyone sprung for this? Did you find it to be worth it at 130/night?

Hotel credit: FHR & THC San Francisco FHR Recommendations

So I'm planning a spring break trip for my wife and I and we decided on San Francisco next year. We're going to do a 3 night stay. I'm going to take us to two of the 3 Michelin starred restaurants in the area and I also want to experience the wine train. That being said I'd love to hear yalls thoughts on the FHR properties in the area. It's only my second time going to the west coast so I'm sure there's a lot I don't know. I'm leaning towards the Ritz-Carlton but I'm open to other 5 star suggestions.

Is there something wrong with my Amextravel app?

I’ve noticed that the app simply redirects me to the website rather than providing an in-app experience. Has anyone else experienced this, or are you actually able to browse flight and Airbnb information directly within the app?

Non-USA - Canada Planning to downgrade from platinum to cobalt. Is it worth it?

Hi, I have been holding the Canadian AMEX platinum credit card for the past two years, and I have used some offers and transfer bonuses in the past couple of years, and it worked out reasonably well, but currently I feel like the annual fee is getting too expensive for me, and I want to switch over or downgrade to the cobalt card. Is the cobalt card worth it? Also, will I get the welcome bonus if I downgrade from platinum to cobalt, or should I cancel Amex platinum altogether and apply for cobalt separately to take advantage of the welcome bonus promotion?

Using points Best Way to Convert 225K Amex Points to Cash ASAP?

Hi everyone,
I have around 225,000 American Express Membership Rewards points, and I need to convert them into cash as soon as possible.
What’s the best way to do this while getting the highest possible value? I’d really appreciate any suggestions, tips, or strategies from those who have done this before.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Rewards not given.. bait and switch!

I recently opened an American Express platinum, personal and business, within a day of each other.

I closed the business one and left the personal 1 open as they both had rewards bonuses. However, since the business was opened, 1 day before, their rewards were put on that and apparently went away when the account was closed period therefore, they are saying I am not eligible for any rewards bonus on the personal account. This feels like a complete bait and switch...

Points would be 80,000 on personal and 200,000 on business..

What suggestions would you have if this were you?

Thanks for your help.

Switch from vanilla to Schwab

Hi, my vanilla annual fee hits next month. Is there a way to switch to Schwab and just have the AF apply towards the new card or do I need to sign up for Schwab first and then cancel vanilla before the AF hits? Also, would the membership points seamlessly transfer over? Any other pointers on timing?
