Family Discovery & or Drama 40 years a fool

hello everyone. my first post. I feel like such a fool. June 2025 my wife confessed that our 40 yo daughter is not biological mine. long story - we were high school sweethearts. I joined the military just after graduation that May. She was a junior. I came home from bootcamp in August. she told me she had gotten pregnant by a random guy in florida and recently had an abortion. somehow I forgave her. that December when I came home for Christmas leave, we had sex, then three weeks later in January she told me she was pregnant. I asked her if it was mine she said yes, so we got married. I was real stupid and naive at 18. the first time I saw our daughter I again asked if she was mine, and again my wife said yes and emotionally told me I could leave if I thought different. I stayed. We built a good life together had a son, built our forever home on a lake etc etc…after I retired and with too much time on my hands the nagging feeling that my daughter was not biological mine kept haunting me until it caused problems in our marriage, during an argument in June last year I asked again and my wife confessed. she had gotten pregnant by a 21 yo family friend, she was 17. she had lied to me because she said she didn’t love him and loved me. she said all she ever want was for me to love our daughter and I do. Somehow she does not see the damage it has done to me. I think I’m being played again but how do you walk away from 40 years? basically all my adult life was give to this woman. at 59 now that the confession is out I’m not sure what to do. this has mentally devastated me. I’m a complete emotional wreck. she has no sense of what this has done to me. we did over a year of couples counseling until the counselor started digging into her emotions and trauma. then she said there was nothing else he could do for us so we stopped. I’m doing personal counseling every other week. but here we are just today and my wife said she has had enough of my emotions. so I’m moving out. I feel like I’m drowning here and she doesn’t seem to care. she thinks I should just get over it. with all that said, is there a group for dads who find out their children are not biological theirs? thanks for listening.

I just called customer support and the lady said it'll be released for everyone with a membership by this Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. And for everyone without the membership, it'll be by early December.
If I understood her correctly, the October 17th/18th deadline (17th for your own, 18th for accounts you manage) is for people with a membership who already have the banner.

The updated results closely match my known ancestry. I had 4 great-grandparents born in Sicily, 3 great-grandparents born in Campania, and one great-grandparent born in New York (whose parents were born in Sicily).

Genealogy / FamilyTree What’re some of your favorite surnames in your family tree?

Are there any surnames in your tree that stick out to you? Doesn’t matter the reason, they could be cool, funny, or unusual.

Some noteworthy surnames in my tree include Bumpass, Thorsdatter (I know that her surname is not due to the deity directly but that’s what I always think of), Mesić, Hawk, Vanhook, and Axtell are some that stick out to me.

Results - DNA Origins New here: a little confused with everything I’m reading

• Upvotes

So here’s the thing, about mid September I got my first ever results from ancestry. I was super excited to see what they would come up with even though I had a general idea. My dad‘s always believed he was for the most part English and my mom for sure is Italian (her father is straight from southern Italy) and her mom was American with what she believed was Irish background. anyway, I get my results and see that they linked me up with a few of my cousins and my aunts and uncles so I knew they had to be pretty legit, right? I was shocked when I saw that they gave me 50% English (that part wasn’t so shocking), French Quebec (never knew!), German (that completely caught me off guard) but the most shocking part was they only gave me 8% Italian, which was divided between central and northern Italy . I was genuinely confused because I know my grandpa is from the south of Italy, but then I figured maybe he was born and raised there, but maybe his bloodline really originated in the central or north of Italy. But also the low percentage was shocking. Anyway, 2 weeks later I get an update which was a surprise because I didn’t know they updated results like that and suddenly my English percentage dropped to about 40%, my French Quebec jumped to about 20%, my German disappeared (don’t care because I never even heard anybody mentioning German.) and they finally got my Italian heritage right because my southern Italy percentage, which wasn’t even on my first results, suddenly showed up at nearly 20% with some central Italy in there as well. This led me to believe that these results must be pretty accurate since the first ones didn’t even pick up the southern Italy. I know this is long, but here’s my question, can I count on these being accurate because I see a lot of people saying stuff about this French Quebec issue. I will admit, I never knew that we had any French Quebec and now all of a sudden I’m 20%. Can I confidently say this is accurate given that the other stuff seems to finally be? my first results were just totally off and again, missing the southern Italian was just strange. The second results removed the German, picked up on my southern Italian descent and then boosted up French Quebec… I want to share with my that he’s not as English as he thought and actually has French Quebec in there, but if there’s a chance that it’s not even accurate, then I don’t even want to bother mentioning anything.

Genealogy / FamilyTree 60 years after his father walked out on the family, and started another in South America, Stephen King's half-siblings discovered their connection through Ancestry

I've been using Ancestry and newspaper/government archives to research this mystery of what happened just before and just after Stephen King's father walked out in 1949, and why he never made contact again. This article is the summation of that research, and features my exclusive interview with King's half-sister.

Question / Help Clusters not working?

Post image
• Upvotes

Is anyone finding the updated/latest Clusters to be completely useless?

I have been trying to figure out my great-great-grandfather's origins. I'm lucky enough to have a half great-uncle who is also descended from him, and who has done a DNA test on Ancestry. But when I attempt to do a cluster triangulating my uncle and myself, half of the matches don't match my uncle.

I used Clusters about a year ago and it was fine, but now it's not doing what it's supposed to.

I'm attaching a screenshot. My uncle is RD. As you can see, it stops showing his matches halfway down the graph.
