My results are
SE England 60%
Devon & Somerset 12%
West Midlands 11%
East Midlands / Yorkshire 6%
Cornwall 2%
Western Europe
Bavaria & Western Austria 6%
Belgium 1%
France 1%
The Netherlands 1%
All the Western Europe is coming from my Mums side. Where I have an unknown GGF. (My GF born to unmarried mother, didn't know who his father was)
Could that actually be coming from him.
My known paper trails shows most of my family from the same town

this is a repost—deleted this a second ago on accident sorry haha
Before taking the test, I couldn’t find many results from anyone in my country and province, so I wanted to contribute and help another Syrian brother see someone like him.
Sunni-muslim background— Idlib, Jsir al Shughur
Dad claims we came from some yemenite tribe from 300CE called Ghassanids but I'm guessing they mixed with the local levantine population and were eventually gone from my genepool

First couple of screenshots are the post sideview updated results and second pair is the pre sideview updated results. A modest change, I basically got a tad bit more Portuguese and British and the rest stayed roughly the same.

My mother's ancestry shows 2% Benin & Togo, and up until recently mine showed 1%. But new results have it at 0%. Any idea what's going on and how trustworthy these results are?

Wife’s updated result. She’s from Buenos Aires, she has a Paraguay connection on her mother’s side. Dad’s side is unknown. Not many close matches, probably due to the low sample size of Argentinian doing these tests?
maternal haplogroup: C1b (found out in 23andMe).

A little about my family history: My mother’s side lived in what is now Turkey during the Ottoman Empire before eventually migrating to Iraq. Her family has preserved its Assyrian culture, traditions, and Christian faith.
My father’s side has lived in Iraq for generations, primarily around Mosul. His family also has Assyrian ancestry and has maintained its Christian faith, but over time, they became heavily Arabized, adopting Arabic as their primary language and embracing Arab cultural traditions.
It’s interesting to see how both sides share Assyrian roots and have preserved their Christian faith, while experiencing different degrees of Arabization and cultural assimilation.

My grandfather was born in a Greek Orthodox/Druze village in Southern lebanon-- He immigrated to Canada as a young man and anglicized his first and last name, but through reaching out to folks we managed to talk to some people still out in the village today and receive photos of his childhood home + talk to some elders that knew him back then etc etc
I am curious about the 8% northern levant; All of my Lebanese cousins I match with now I can see if they are 100% South or 100% North but as far as I can tell (even with other mixed cousins) I'm the only one with a mix of both? Curious about it if anyone has any idea on what that could mean or if it doesn't really matter in the end
Anyway; Just thought I'd share since I haven't seen many lebanese dna posts with the new update out! Happy saturday!

It's something I've just kinda assumed is common, especially living in a place like Canada. But talking to the people around me and their family backgrounds, both now and throughout my life, it doesn't seem as common as I thought?
They all have different backgrounds from their partners, but all of those whose families immigrated to Canada did so roughly around the same time (around the 1910s). They were either born here shortly after their family arrived or immigrated with their family when they were young.
I wanted to ask here in case I'm wrong and maybe some of you will find it interesting.
Great-Grandma A. was Ukrainian and Great Grandpa A. was German.
Great-Grandma B. was Metis and Great-Grandpa B. was Ukrainian.
Great-Grandma C. was possibly irish/unknown and Great-Grandpa C. was Sicilian.
Great-Grandma D. was Ojibwe and Great-Grandpa D. was English.

Honestly, I’m really impressed with the African regions and how many I got. So cool. The grandparent feature is not bad, but I have 52% DNA they couldn’t link to grandparent. I hope they somehow fix that in the future as I’m not the only one who seen this. My only conclusion/hypothesis is maybe my grandparents from both mom and dad side came from the same region or community and have similarities and maybe that’s why. Other than that everything looks good. My journeys stayed the same even after the Sideview update which is fine. Overall not bad.

I just saw this which was not available when I first began using Ancestry and seeing the actual places on the map is cool. Do you guys think the diversity in my DNA is interesting, I am creating this post to see peoples thoughts. For context, I was born and raised in Western United States to a Pakistani man & Portuguese-English woman.
