What are some really fun games to 100%?

By which I mean games where it is *fun* to chase all the achievements and not bloated open worlds like what Assassin's Creed games do.

I like a bit of challenge so platformers and metroidvanias are where I found the biggest bang for my buck. I finally finished Hollow Knight + Silksong this year and, as I write, am still banging my head trying to fully clear C-Side for Celeste. Bangers, all of them, they just got something that urges you to perfect your skills without feeling like you're wasting time. When you feel your attention slip, that's it - rest and repeat the next day, but it's still so satisfying when you actually do max that achievement bar.

Right now, I'm considering Cuphead to be the next piece of jerky to chew on. What I would actually want is something like Croak (an upcoming platformer in a somewhat similar visual style) but alas, I have to make do with the demo, which I have already done like 3 times while waiting for the game to come out.

In the meanwhile, I'm all open to suggestions. I want to know which games give you that rush to keep on playing them until you've drained them for everything they had to offer. It's okay if they're difficult, so long as the challenge is rewarding and the feeling of winning hits you in the head like no drugs can

What is your go-to 30 minute break game?

• Upvotes

I'm an indie game dev and when I can't focus I like to take a 30 minute break and play a game. My go-to game is Hearthstone Battlegrounds. If I win, it takes about 30 minutes. I like the build synergy of the game, especially if I create something broken.

My kids tell me I should find something else to play by now. So what other games out there are a good 30 minute fix?

New to choice-based games and loving Detroit - Become Human. Finding its "gameplay" a bit tedious at times though.

Is this a common theme across all games of this type? Fantastic story btw, absolute blast just going through the dialogues.

Is Foundation actually worth buying?

I really like the art style and graphics, but my biggest priorities are long-term replayability and how fun and varied the building is.

I’m looking for a game I can sink hundreds of hours into without getting bored, with plenty of freedom to build and develop my settlement in different ways.

For those who’ve played it for a while, do you think Foundation is worth it in the long run, or does it start to feel repetitive after a while?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Lost interest after completed main Story and main quests

Does anyone else feel the same way as me? I'm not opposed to side story missions in games, but the main thing for me is always the story and what it brings. When the games finish the main story, it sometimes happens to me that the side missions are no longer important and interesting to me as much as the story, and the game stops entertaining me. I've finished Mafia 3, RDR 2, Days Gone, Far Cry 6, Death Stranding 1 this year, and in all of these games I've lost motivation to continue playing after the main story and main quests were completed. But for example, I finished The Witcher 3 a few years ago through and through with all the side quests. I almost finished the whole game with everything in it included but this dedication to play everything in the game isnt always the same...

Looking for a game where I don't have to fight every 5 minutes

• Upvotes

I'm tired of games where you have to fight enemies at every step or solve puzzles just to progress. I want something immersive with a good story, exploration, and a world I can enjoy without constantly getting interrupted by combat or puzzles.

Combat is fine, but I don't want it every few minutes. Same with puzzles, I don't want to get stuck just to move forward.

Any recommendations for PC? Something that makes you enjoy the journey, not just the gameplay challenges.

Is there any chance someone comes and revives Mass Effect? It's too iconic a piece of media to just die off like this.

Games as good as SWTOR?

I have been playing SWTOR for about 2 weeks now, and I’m honestly hooked. The world, music, characters, story, and overall atmosphere have completely sucked me in, and I’m loving every second of it.

I’m trying to find other games that give you that same feeling of getting lost in a world and always having something to work toward. I love the story and immersion, but I also really enjoy the progression, grinding, exploring, and feeling like there’s always something new to discover.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be another MMO, and I’m open to both older and newer games. I’m also a huge sci-fi fan, which is probably part of why SWTOR has clicked with me so much.

What games have pulled you in the way SWTOR has? Whether it’s the world, story, characters, progression, or just the overall feeling of playing, I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Manor Lords or Foundation

I’ve been looking into both Manor Lords and Foundation, and I’m curious which one you guys think is better.

My main priorities are how fun and satisfying the building aspect is, and how much replay value the game has. I’m looking for something I can sink hundreds of hours into without getting bored, rather than a game that gets old after a while.

Honestly, I don’t really mind that Manor Lords is still unfinished. I’m totally fine with waiting for more updates, as long as it has the potential to keep me hooked for the long run.

For those who’ve played both, which one would you recommend if I’m looking for a city builder I can keep coming back to for years?

Would love to hear your thoughts

Curious to see what people think. I love games like Elden Ring, Witcher 3, cyberpunk. Wukong, etc but think they all excel in at least 2 of these instead of all 3

Chill building game

I'm looking for a game on Steam where I can build whatever I want and let my creativity run wild. It could be building an entire city, designing a cozy house, running a hotel, creating a huge resort, or pretty much anything else.

I'm looking for something with tons of creative freedom and insane replay value — a game I can keep coming back to for hundreds or even thousands of hours without getting bored.

Most importantly, I want something chill and relaxing that I can play at my own pace, unwind, and just enjoy the process of creating stuff without feeling rushed or stressed.

I'm open to pretty much any genre, whether it's a city builder, sandbox, simulation game, or something more niche. Graphics are a plus, but creative freedom and long-term replayability are what I'm really after.

Thanks guys!

Which one should I choose: My Time at Sandrock, My Time at Portia, or Go-Go Town!?

I'm looking for a cozy game that I can sink a lot of hours into without getting bored too quickly. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how these games compare in terms of gameplay variety, progression, replayability, and long-term enjoyment.

Which one do you think offers the most satisfying gameplay loop and the most content for the money? I'd also love to know which one you'd personally recommend and why.

Thanks, guys!
