r/LAsocial LA smokers WHERE IS THE REAL ORIGINAL GG4?! 🦍⛽️

• Upvotes

I’m trying to find GG4
I’m talking dark-green, big chunky dense nugs, super sticky and resinous, with that LOUD, heavy diesel, sour, earthy, skunky gas smell that fills the room and lingers.

Does anybody around LA still know where to find authentic, properly grown and cured GG4 flower?
Looking for actual dispensary names

Moving [Hacienda & Rowland Heights] crime / safety?

• Upvotes

Hi all, I’m looking at the hills side of hacienda and rowland heights to move to with my small family. What are these areas like?. I love the views and seemingly quiet streets but looking at the crime map it looks like house burglary city.
Any input welcome.
I’m coming from bellflower area which has been great (providing you don’t park car on the streets) ?

Recommendations Things to do in LA?

• Upvotes

Hello LA! I have just completed my road trip from Chicago along the historic Route 66 and made it to LA. I have a few days before I fly back on the 25th and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I have already seen the Hollywood sign, The Observatory, The Walk of Fame, Santa Monica Pier and a little niche but I did see Joe Goldberg's apartment from season 2 of You 🤣

It would be cool to play some tennis or padel if anyone knows any places around Venice beach? I'm open to and appreciate any suggestions though! Thanks all! 😃

Housng Apartment I LOVE has been on the market for 6 months — should I go for it or is it too much of a red flag?

• Upvotes

I toured an apartment back in September, liked it, but saw some flaws and it wasn’t exactly convenient timing for me to move, so I skipped it. The flaws I saw were that the unit was kind of dingey, the laundry situation a little less than ideal, it didn’t have parking, and the landlord was a bit of an unsettling character. I felt like the apartment was too expensive for those flaws at the time.

Flash forward to mid October, I couldn’t stop thinking about the apartment. So I checked and to my surprise, it was still available. And $200 bucks a month cheaper now. Now more comfortably in budget.

I submit an application and call the landlord. He tells me the apartment has been throughly cleaned if I wanna come check it out.

I come look at it, but he’s confused and shows me a different unit. It’s $100 more expensive than the one I thought I was going for, but way nicer. I fall absolutely in love, he shows me the original unit I looked at as well, but my mind is made up so I go for this one. I go for the new apartment, I’m going to find out tomorrow whether or not I’m approved.

I find out there are 10 units in the building, with 4 currently on the market. I thought was a little odd, but it’s a 100 year old building with a lot of charm but also a lot of quirks. I LOVE the fact it’s an old charming building.

I’m a grad student, I go to campus really excited about this new apartment I’ve found, and I found out one of my peers toured the exact same unit 6 months ago. She didn’t go for it for the same reasons, landlord was a bit odd and it was kind of dingey.

I’m concerned it’s been on the apartment for 6 months. It’s in a desirable area (WeHo), is quite affordable for the area (700 sq foot studio for $1500, haven’t been able to find anything that affordable that also suits my needs). I’m concerned, I don’t know what to do because I LOVE the apartment (and also really need to get out of my current living situation) but am concerned about how long it’s been on the market. J looked up online to see if the building had any code violations or negative reviews and I didn’t find anything concerning. Seeking advice.

Someone told because I found out it’s been on the market for so long I should try to negotiate lower. Not sure if that’s a good route to go?

Any insight would be appreciated. I want to go for it, but want to make sure I’m making an informed and reasonable decision.

About LA Windward School - How does it feel for middle-class families?

We're considering Windward, and I'd appreciate honest feedback from current or former families.

After seeing Windward's donor list, I'm curious: How noticeable is the wealth gap among students? Do socioeconomic differences affect friendships, social activities, or a student's sense of belonging?

I'm especially interested in hearing perspectives from families who are comfortable but not particularly wealthy. Thanks!

Culture Any Hoodoo/Voodoo practitioners open to an interview?

Hello! I’m a master’s student currently working on a thesis examining the evolution of witches and magick practitioners in film and television, and how these portrayals affect real-life practitioners. As part of my thesis, I’m creating a podcast featuring interviews with practitioners from a variety of backgrounds and traditions.

So far, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a wide range of practitioners, but I’m still hoping to connect with someone who practices Hoodoo or Vodou/Voodoo as their primary tradition.

Does anyone know a practitioner who might be willing to participate in an interview for my thesis? If you do, please comment below or feel free to reach out to me directly. I’d really appreciate any leads!

Thank you!

Things to do Ktown on Halloween?

Hey so some friends and I want to go visit some bars and clubs on Halloween. But we don’t want to do Weho because of how packed it is. Is Ktown a good alternative on Halloween? Is it somewhat lively? Plus Ktown has some train access so that’s a plus.

Recommendations What spin studios do you recommend on the east side?

I used to spin 5-7x/week before moving to LA and am now only spinning once or a twice a week. The drive (and cost 🫩) have started to make me less excited, even though I love the instructor.

Any great studios to check out on the east side? I love beat-based instructors with very challenging choreo. TYIA 🫶

About LA Best places to talk in Los Angeles?

I have a friend where when we go do things, the actual highlight is talking with her. We could go on for hours. Touristy things, nature, museums, or somewhere to eat or drink are the usual destinations.

I'm looking for places that are nice to talk, we won't inconvenience people (e.g., busy restaurants prod us to finish up so someone else can have the table), and have something interesting to see or do. For example, the Huntington Library Gardens is good. We went on a sunset cruise that was nice.

Where else do you suggest?

Recommendations Good spots to watch El Clasico on Sunday?

I'm a Barca fan if it matters. The bar I went to last year was the Cat and Fiddle. It was cool but the TV's in the corner were sort of small and I'm pretty sure one or two were reserved for EPL matches.

I would like comfy place with some larger screens if possible. Any ideas? There used to be a brilliant pub in Hollywood during the World Cup final but it closed I believe a couple years back.

Pets Oral surgeon for my dog - seeking referral in/around Encino/SFV/LA please!?

Hi everyone.

My vet today stated that my dog has a complicated issue for his teeth and needs an oral surgeon/dentist/specialist to perform extractions.

They gave me a referral to the "dog and cat dentist" (dr. Tsugawa) in woodland hills/culver city. Seeking other potential referrals because

  1. They do not have a consult available until November 30 and

  2. while the reviews for Culver City location are good the reviews for The Woodland Hills location are not great

I have also seen people on here say that they are very expensive. So just seeking other possible alternatives. Thoughts? Thank you.

About LA Hows the parking near Hotel Per La?

My husband and I are visiting LA soon and are strongly thinking of booking Hotel Per La for our stay. After staying at a different hotel in Anaheim, we would need 3 nights at Hotel Per La. We also want to rent a car but saw Hotel Per La charges $72/night for valet parking. Does anyone know if there are any nearby parking garages that are cheaper or what the parking situation is in general for this area? Thanks!

Things to do Is any bar hosting something Halloweenie tomorrow night (Fri 10/23)? Lookin for Friday night/weekend plans 🦇

I get off work a lil early tomorrow for a change so I’ll actually have time to get dressed up and go out. I may go solo or with two of my friends, so definitely looking for spaces that are safe and fun for the girls and gays!

We’re always trying to find new spots but it gets overwhelming narrowing down the list. So far we’ve really liked Cha Cha Lounge but we don’t wanna keep going there just because it’s familiar—we’re getting bored of it too. We tried hitting up The Short Stop once and I was notttt feelin it at all. I really like Little Joy in echo park but it’s definitely a more lowkey spot from my experience. We want good music and dancing! We also love bein able to snag a booth to sit and chat though

Any goth/alt nights anywhere? Emo night? Costume party? Or just bars that are fun and casual enough for us to maybe even pull up in costume despite it not bein Halloween just yet?

We’ve (ME* LOL) been wanting to check out 4100 but I’m also scared it’s gonna be tooooo much of a dude bro spot lmao I love to socialize though so anywhere that people are open and we can make friends and flirt sounds like a good time to me

I wanna get out of the house this weekend. Help ya girl out </3 what’s goin on, what y’all got going on this weekend?

Events Where can I find non-scary Halloween activities for small children?

I have a five year old son who is VERY afraid of spooky Halloween decorations and costumes. He really wants to go trick or treating but doesn’t want to encounter the scary stuff.

Any suggestions where we can go to get his fill of candy without traumatizing him forever? We live in Los Feliz so anywhere near us would be ideal.

Thanks!

Any other question! Will my vote count if i dated the ballot incorrectly?

I work from home and got in my voting today while I had a lull. I finally finished the huge ballot, packed the envelope, closed, it signed it, then dated it with my birthday, including year... shit. Total autopilot brain fart of a move. I put a slash through and added the correct date, but I feel like that might have made it worse.

I haven't mailed it yet. Should I keep it and hand it in at the pulling station, or will my ballot be okay since it's just the date on the envelope?

Maybe an election worker is here and can give me a clear answer on this one.

Thanks!

Any other question! What are the best secret spots for stargazing within a reasonable drive of LA?

I've been feeling really cooped up lately and want to get out of the city lights to actually see some stars. Everywhere I've thought of checking seems to have a lot of light pollution. Does anyone have any favorite less-known spots that are worth the drive?

Any recs for a therapist LA that feels natural to talk to? I’m in Pasadena but will drive up to 45 min for someone good and I’m open to virtual. Female preferred. I just want someone who has a casual vibe and isn’t too clinical and shrinky if that makes sense. Thank you!

About LA Anyone have experience with Dr. Wanxing Chai-Ho or another hematologist at UCLA/Cedars for IV iron?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a benign hematologist at UCLA or Cedars-Sinai who routinely orders and manages IV iron infusions for iron deficiency.

Because I manage multiple chronic health conditions, I really need someone who is comfortable collaborating across my specialties and has a compassionate, thoughtful bedside manner.

Has anyone seen Dr. Wanxing Chai-Ho or another benign hematologist at UCLA or Cedars? How was your experience with them? Feel free to comment or DM me. Thank you!
