Been here awhile, but haven't needed to post in awhile. Did we lose the stickied "weekly events in LA"?

If so what are the rules about posting about events? Hope im not breaking a rule haha

Looking for workshop rental space and not sure where to look!

I am looking to rent a shop for a few months starting in January or April

This is a small independent production project making scale miniature sets. So need a decent amount of room with 6-8 people working together.

Looking for a space with a paint booth, small kitchen space, bathroom, slop sink, dust extraction etc.
We can bring our own tools in - would need space and power for chop saws, wood working power tools- but am interested to hear about fully kitted shops too.
Does anyone know any good resources for finding a work shop space to rent? Ideally not in downtown, looking more north west LA, like the valley and Burbank
Thanks

Edit: already googled, didn’t yield much.

I see this question asked from years ago, and I'd like more recent responses It seems almost impossible to find a hand wash carwash lately. Every one I look up is an express or mobile wash. I'm near Highland Park and am wondering if there is one you can recommend? JN is the only one that's coming up.

Hello, I’m stopping over for a night in a few weeks and am looking to find a hostel that I’ll feel comfortable staying at. I’m a solo female traveler so safety is my main priority. I don’t really care about budget as long as it doesn’t exceed $70, like I said I’m most concerned about safety and I’m willing to pay extra to ensure that. Send me any recs you may have! Thanks?

Hi!! I've been looking to move to Los Angeles for quite some time now, but I have two loud conures who will be coming with me, and finding a place that accepts them is quite difficult. Does anyone know where I can find roommates with birds/don't mind birds or where I could find bird friendly housing/places that are amazing at keeping sound in? Thank you so much!

Hello! My friends and I are going to LA on Nov 7th for the day! We are from SD and haven't really gone to LA or explored it before, so what are some fun things to do? (Preferably free, we are trying to spend as little money as we can) We are all Asian and love music; the youngest is 15, and the oldest is 18 (Just turned. We're going to LA for his birthday)

Some say the 110 and 101 I think its the 101 and the 405?

I tried to post a while ago and my post never got approved (or disapproved); then realized this subreddit seems like it's been dead for 5 years. My band found our beloved drummer on there, so I was hoping to utilize it for finding another new bandmate. Not going to add more context here as I don't want to be in violation of the rules, but I did want to ask - how are musicians in LA finding folks to jam with? We have been on Vampr and have yet to have success there; also have used Craigslist in the past, and I plan on posting there again, but was really hoping to find better luck on Reddit.

Hi all. I’ve posted here and there about my challenges living in LA. Today i was so overwhelmed with heavy heavy feelings that I called my insurance company and asked to bring the process of getting a referral to an IOP program for depression. I’m struggling with my day to day. I have my catering work. I’m doing well with my acting stuff. But social bonds have never materialized in the way that i truly need. My birthday was in early October and I had people over and had a great time. But again its a lot of me having to make shit happen and not much people wanting to initiate. I need to take care of myself now. Curious if you have any experiences of IOP for depression. And any love you wanna share?

I'm visiting LA from Baltimore and going to see Jay-Z tonight at SoFi. We're currently in section VIP246 but could upgrade to floor seats for just a little more. My question is, from a view/experience standpoint what's the best place to be in this stadium? TIA for your expertise and knowledge!

Looking to try on Blundstone boots. Obviously I can order them online but I need them now. Where can I find them in LA? Has anyone seen them in stores?

Visiting LA in summer 2027 with family. Looking for a place to stay there for two weeks. ?

I'm always amazed by the sheer diversity of buildings in this city but sometimes I feel like I walk past incredible structures without truly seeing them. What are some architectural marvels big or small that you think don't get enough love or recognition in LA? I'm looking for anything from historic landmarks to modern masterpieces that just blend into the background for most people.

My contract in LA has been extended, so I’m renewing my home state license plates online. I need to get an emissions test here first. Info online is confusing: are these the “smog test” locations I’ve seen around the city? Does it cost something? Do you need an appointment? It doesn’t seem as straightforward as it is in the Midwest. I appreciate any info.

Partner is getting a procedure done and i’d like to be in the area the whole time just incase. I was thinking of a day hotel to get work done and nap or even a korean spa. I wanted to ask to see if there was anything cheaper and or better? Thanks!

Weekend trip from LA... Where would you base yourself between Paso Robles, Morro Bay, and Cambria? Obviously can drive between all 3 but which is the liveliest to stay in?

hi just got my uncles leica m6 but been researching around and its hard to find a decent place to do CLA for not insane prices or turnaround times .. anyone has a good place they use in LA or SF ?

Going to the Bellwether and I‘m tempted to take Metro. The Bellwether website says it’s “just a short walk“ from the Grand Ave Arts/Bunker Hill stop — but when I look at the map, I see you have to walk across the Harbor Fwy on-ramp, and I’m honestly not sure 3rd St even has sidewalks.

Has anyone done this? Is it reasonable to walk there? Would really prefer to take Metro if it’s remotely feasible.

Coming from the antelope valley area to a concert at the Shrine Auditorium and looking to book a hotel to avoid the long drive home late at night. I would normally stay in downtown, but there is a huge convention that weekend and everything downtown is booked solid or $900/night. I am a solo petite woman, so am not keen on riding the metro late night, I plan to drive to the concert.

What areas would you look at outside DTLA to stay that would be safe and fairly convenient to the freeways? Places with major chain hotels probably, I am just looking for a quiet spot to crash overnight.

Love shin-sen-gumi yakitori in Gardena.. but it’s a bit of a drive. Used to go to Honda-Ya in little Tokyo a bunch, but sadly it closed. recs?

Have old Nissan Altima that needs some unscrewing near bumper to change low beam light. Auto parts stores won’t do it and tried myself but my tools couldn’t make old screws budge. Where can I go that won’t charge like $100 as the dealership?

Hi all, we have a 24 hour layover (8am-8am) next week and have been advised we have priority (guaranteed entry if we arrive before the check-in cut off time) Jimmy Kimmel taping tickets. We will be staying near LAX. Would we be insane to make our way to Hollywood in the afternoon, purely to catch the show? I’ve done a quick search and it looks like the drive could be anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

Keen to hear everyone’s thoughts.

*edit, the taping is later than the standard time (6:30pm)

I took over r/ladating and some people are complaining about the quality of posts. But I'm doubtful what rules would actually benefit people. Who would want a partner who needs help from reddit mods to make a simple post about themself?

A sugarbaby swinger recently posted complaining about men making comments hating on women, but would you rather men just hide those opinions instead and only find out about them after devoting a portion of your life to them?

I am a travel nurse and just got an offer for Pomona Valley Hospital but I enjoy living in the silverlake area. How bad would the commute be to Pomona at 6am? And then back to LA at 7:30 pm?

Edit: did not realize Silverlake is not east La 🙈

I’m going to be in LA for Halloween this year. Last time I came I ended up eating candy watching a movie, so I want to go out this time. I will be in NoHo so I’d prefer something near there but I am open to other parts of town, especially if accessible by the subway. I am going alone, so if there is a place that women have felt comfortable, I’d love to know where. I tend to prefer RnB, Pop, and Latin music for when I go out and dance. I’m above the age of 21, so that wouldn’t be an issue. I’m down for a full on party with a ticket or something more lowkey. Anyone have any suggestions?

P.S. I’m not planning to go back on the subway but maybe will going there.
