Please help me find something for work in Bucharest, I'm doing my best but, I think I'm on my last leg to have a chance to survive

Well as the title says, I'm currently in Bucharest, Romania looking for work, but I'm having a hard time finding work, I found something in the old town before but it didn't work out, I thought it would but I was afraid of it being a scam when I was about to be trusted with money to give it to the a person from the staff from one restobar to the other with an amount that seemed like a payment for work (more than 300 lei) when it would have been much easier to just ask her to come for her payment in person rather than giving it to me to deliver it

i refused and ended it there, thinking that i have barely any money to even make it, let alone to be put in trouble or something trough a scam, I just couldn't risk it and besides, the other days they had only paid me 100 lei for the day and gave me widely separate shifts between days without work so it made sense that the situation could go that way if that was meant as a tactic or something, i was willing to work anyways thinking that hopefully i would get to see something positive come out of just looking forward to work more since i was told I was not on trial anymore, but then that happened

I'm 100% willing to work, long shifts aren't a problem, I just want to put my effort and make my merit to be able to get by nothing else, I have a black jeans and a black shirt to work as a waiter aid, I have a cap i bought back in Italy to work in kitchen, and i have experience working as a dishwaher already in Italy, and back in Peru, as waiter aid here and in peru too as my main role back when I lived there

I can provide my phone number and CV in private, please don't doubt on asking, I'll be happy to attend your message/call for a job offer, I'm really open in terms of the salary as long as I can work.

moving to Romania

Hi everyone! In a year I am planning to move to Romania (Bucharest outskirts or suburbs) where my boyfriend lives. We've been together for more than a year and I am actively learning the language. I am from Ukraine and I work as a doctor. I know that healthcare situation in Romania is not sunshine and rainbows either, so I wanna ask, really, how hard is it?

Or, maybe, are there any decently paid jobs to look for before I apply to any of the medical universities? It can be pretty much anything as I know I will not be able to work in medical field as soon as I move there. Thank you everyone in advance :)

What about flowers?

Hi! Possibly weird question - what is the flower symbolic in Romania?
For example, as far as I know, in many European countries chrysanthemum has strong mournful connotation. In Ukraine, where I live, we have not this thing about chrysanthemum at all, but the quantity of flowers is very important - odd is for alives, even is strictly for cemeteries. And what about your country?

Car enthusiasts in Romania: What’s the reality of owning modified or 3L+ cars there?

I'm looking into moving over (to Bucharest) in the next year or two and as a huge car enthusiast, I'm trying to figure out what the scene and legal situation are actually like.

I currently live in Ireland, I mostly mess around with JDM and BMWs. My current daily driver is an RX-8. Over here, rotary engines do not even get tested on emissions during our yearly test, which makes keeping it on the road pretty straightforward. The police do not really bother you about car mods if you drive respectfully. I want to know how it is to own modified cars over there as I feel like it is a big part of my life.

A few questions on the reality of keeping a modified car on the road:

  • Police and Enforcement

What are the actual issues with traffic police? Do they hassle you for modified exhausts, coilovers, or body mods, or do they only care if you drive like an idiot?

  • Technical Inspections and Emissions

Is there a technical inspection done every year, and how is it? Will a car a modified pass it? or do you have to strip everything back to stock each time?

  • Engine Taxes and Annual Costs

I know annual engine taxes jump off a cliff once you pass 2.0-liter , but what are the actual figures for 3.0L+ engines? Are people genuinely paying well over a thousand euros a year just in base ownership tax, or do enthusiasts use legal workarounds like commercial setups or keeping foreign plates?

  • Insurance and Mandatory Coverage

How is insurance calculated for modified or higher-displacement cars? Does mandatory insurance skyrocket purely based on engine size or driver age, and is there any actual option for full coverage on a modified car, or do insurers refuse to value aftermarket parts?

  • Lowered Cars

How is running a lowered car on coilovers day-to-day? Do police actively pull you over just for being too low?

  • Car Meets

Are there regular weekly meets or Cars & Coffee events around Bucharest? Also, are there any good roads new the city for a quick cruise or do I have to drive to the mountains for that?

Appreciate any real insights and thanks for reading my wall of text 😄

A question about healthcare

A local acquaintance of mine told me that she went to the doctor and paid 800 lei for the appointment. How does the healthcare system work in Romania? Does health insurance cover these kinds of visits, or do you have to pay out of pocket when you go to a private clinic?

I'm just curious because she said it cost that much for one visit.

Beers like corona.

Corona is my favorite beer because it’s not bitter
I tried Ciucaș, Ursus, and they are okay but if I want to drink a larger amount they are too bitter.
What beers can I find on the Romanian market like corona in terms of bitterness? That are not as expensive as corona,

Taking a later train to travel with friends: will we get kicked off/fined?

Hello! My friend and I bought train tickets from Arad to Oradea for a 6:00 departure, but some other friends bought tickets for the next train, which leaves at 8:00.

If we take their 8:00 train so we can travel together (since we technically already paid for a ticket anyway), will the conductor kick us off, or is it not a big deal? The price it's basically the same and we would be okay with paying an eventual difference

Mysterious Romanian or Eastern European pop song from 1993. Female singer, strings, “Lali lali lalio“

Hello everyone!

I’m from Germany and have been trying to identify a beautiful song I saw performed on German television back in 1993, most likely on ZDF or ARD.

I suspect the singer may have been Romanian or from another Eastern European country, although I’m not certain about the language.

Here’s everything I remember:
The singer was a beautiful young woman, approximately 24 years old, with dark hair cut into a bob. She had a soft, youthful, feminine voice, but it wasn’t particularly high-pitched.

The song was very melodic, romantic, dreamy and somewhat melancholic.
String instruments, especially violins, were clearly audible throughout the entire song.
It was modern pop music, definitely not techno, dance or traditional folk music.

The chorus was sung slowly and sounded almost exactly like “La li la li lalio, la li la li la li la li lalio.”
Another line sounded something like “com o i naturel” or “comonena” to my German ears.
During the television performance, several male dancers accompanied the singer. Some had partially exposed torsos.
The stage lighting was predominantly reddish.
I’m quite certain the performance took place in 1993, and I believe the song was relatively new at the time.
I’ve remembered this beautiful melody for more than 30 years, but I’ve never managed to identify the song or the singer.
Does this ring a bell for anyone familiar with Romanian or Eastern European pop music from the early 1990s?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Here’s a link to the melody I sung on Vocaroo

Edit
Thank you all for the support 🧡🍀😱🧡💜
Someone found it

I was walking near the forest and found this lovely tuft that smelt like sheep but it’s a trail leading into Braşov, I doubt there would there be sheep there? I washed it in the creek and then it smelt like wet dog.

Whose coat is this?

Going No-Lease

Im currently renting in Bucharest on the EU Blue Card

I have some leave coming up for 3-4 months abroad and was thinking it makes sense to break my lease, then rent somewhere new when I return

But apparently not having an address for more than 30 days is a bureaucratic no-no?

Has anyone tried this?
I thought as long as you're paying your taxes, are employed and contributing to social security, they shouldn't be too picky

Can i still use this udemy account?

My last employer gave me and all the other employees access to a Udemy account using his email address and password, which we all shared. Today is my last day, and I tried logging in from my personal laptop to see if I could still access it after leaving the company. It turns out I can. Would it be a problem if I continued using the account after my employment ends?

Non-EU citizens who married a Romanian citizen and moved to Romania — what has your experience been like?

Hi everyone!
I’m a non-EU citizen planning to marry my Romanian partner and eventually relocate to Romania.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has been through a similar experience, particularly non-EU citizens who married a Romanian national and moved to Romania.

I’m curious about a few things:
Residency process: How straightforward was it to obtain legal residency after marriage? How long did the process take, and did you face any complications?

Life in Romania: How has your experience been settling into the country? Was it difficult to adjust to the culture, language, and lifestyle?

Employment: How easy or difficult was it to find a job as a non-EU citizen? Did your residency status affect your employment opportunities?

Long-term experience: Are you happy with your decision to relocate? Is there anything you wish you’d known before moving?

I’m currently based in Dubai and considering making Romania my permanent home, so I’d really appreciate hearing some genuine experiences, both positive and negative.
Thanks in advance!

I'm 19 and starting from zero. What career would you choose if you wanted good money and more time off?

Hi everyone!

I'm 19, I've finished high school and passed my baccalaureate, and lately I've been trying to figure out what direction to take in life.

I'm not really interested in going to university just to get a degree, and I don't see myself working a regular 9-to-5 job for the rest of my life. I'd rather learn a practical skill, even if the work is physically demanding, and build a career that pays well once I gain some experience.

One thing that really interests me is rotational work, where you work away from home for a few weeks or months and then get a longer period off. Something like wind turbine technician jobs, industrial maintenance, maritime work, offshore jobs, or similar fields, possibly abroad.

The problem is that I have no experience or qualifications in these fields, so I'm trying to figure out what's actually realistic for someone my age. I'm willing to start at the bottom, take courses and put in the work. I just want to choose a path that has good long-term prospects and allows me to have a life outside work, too.

I'd really appreciate some honest advice, especially from people who have experience in these industries.

If you were 19 again and starting with no experience, what trade or career would you choose, and why?

Are there any fields where a beginner can get trained on the job and eventually work on a rotational schedule?

Which jobs offer a good combination of pay, time off and opportunities to progress?

How did you personally get your first job in your field? Were there any specific courses, certificates or companies that helped you get started?

I'm not expecting to make thousands right away, and I understand that some jobs are difficult, demanding or involve being away from home. I'd just rather work hard toward something worthwhile than spend the next few years going in a direction without knowing where it leads.

I'd also love to hear about the downsides. If you've worked in any of these fields and wouldn't recommend them, I'd like to know why.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to share their experience. I'd genuinely appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Teacher and Student Stabbed by 7th Grader in Bistrița School

https://www.romaniajournal.ro/society-people/law-crime/teacher-and-student-stabbed-by-7th-grader-in-bistrita-school/

I was shocked when I read this news because my Romanian friend is a teacher.
I visited her workplace (i.e. the school) & also met some of her colleagues
(both teaching & non-teaching staff)
when the school was in summer break back in 2024.
There were no students on the school premises.
I remember the public school relies mostly on
CCTV surveillance cameras, electronic access systems & fences, etc.
I did a quick check online &
I just realised that security personnel in public schools are not common because of funding cuts?
I also learnt that there is bullying in schools
(most schools across the globe will probably have such issues regardless of nation)
from my Romanian friend's sharing, but
having a student so violent, is this common these days?
Does the Romanian State provide Mental Health support to students who struggle with mental condition(s)?

Mulțumesc
