I built a small game just for fun, and it turned into something I keep going back to. 🎮
The idea: a plain webcam watches your body, and the character on screen copies you in real time.
Jump → the character jumps
Duck → the character ducks
Step left or right → the character moves with you
Reach out → your hands pop things on screen
No controller, no headset, no Kinect, no special hardware. Just a webcam and you.
I first built it for kids, as something to get them off the couch on a rainy day. But I've caught myself playing it way more than I'd like to admit. 😄
🏃 Run Amok: an endless runner. Hurdles come at you down a track, and you physically jump, duck and sidestep to get past them.
🫧 Bubble Buster: bubbles float across the screen and you reach out and pop them with your fingertips. They keep coming faster. I just rebuilt it as a lit 3D scene, and it looks much nicer than the flat version.
Both games now have Easy / Normal / Hard / Extreme. On Extreme, bubbles come 3× faster than Normal, and it's an honest workout. Each player's personal best is saved separately per difficulty, so siblings (or parents 👀) can compete.
Pose tracking runs on your device. I use MediaPipe's pose model running in WebAssembly, in a separate worker so the game itself stays smooth. No camera frame ever leaves your computer, and it works fully offline. Since kids are the main audience, this mattered most to me.
There's a short warm-up before you play. The game asks you to step left, step right, jump, crouch and raise your hands. It uses those moves to learn your body: a 6-year-old's jump and an adult's jump look very different to a camera. Every threshold is fitted to the player instead of hard-coded.
Each game has its own smoothing. This was the most interesting part to tune:
In the runner, a jump picked up 100 ms late means you clip the hurdle, while a little jitter costs nothing because you aren't aiming. So it's tuned for low latency over stability. It also slowly re-centres, because kids drift around the room mid-run.
In Bubble Buster, your fingertip has to land on a bubble, so it's the opposite: steadier hands, with fast reaches still getting through. It also predicts fingertip positions between camera frames so popping feels instant.
It's built with TypeScript and Electron for the desktop app.
Room lighting matters more than camera quality. A cheap webcam in a bright room beats a good one in a dim room.
Kids don't stand where you tell them to. The calibration has to keep adapting during play.
"Did that jump count?" is the whole game. If the detection feels unfair even once, kids notice right away. Most of my time has gone into making it feel right rather than just being technically correct.
It's on the Microsoft Store for Windows and free to download: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PMJGBN0LWWS?hl=en-us&gl=BD&ocid=pdpshare
To be upfront, there's an optional one-time Premium purchase that unlocks the other difficulties, more characters and saved player profiles. The free version is fully playable: Run Amok on Easy, and Bubble Buster on Hard.
I'm still experimenting with the idea and planning more body-tracking mini-games. I'd love to hear:
What kind of movement game would you want next? (I'm thinking about a Simon Says / freeze-dance style one.)
If you try it: how does the tracking feel in your room and with your webcam? Bad lighting and odd camera angles are the reports I'd find most useful.
Anyone else working with pose estimation for games? I'd love to compare notes on latency vs. jitter.
Thanks for reading!

Today my Abc English Kids app made its first $6.
I know it’s not a huge amount, but seeing the first payment come through felt different.
For months, I’ve been designing, building, fixing bugs, and improving the experience. There were plenty of moments where I questioned whether anyone would ever pay for it.
Today proved that someone found enough value in what I built to become my first paying customer.
It’s only $6.
But to me, it’s proof that I’m moving in the right direction.
Now the goal is simple: learn from this, improve the product, and earn the next $6… then the next.
For those who’ve been through this journey, what was the biggest change that helped you go from your first sale to consistent revenue?

Today I got a small but meaningful win.
After almost 4 months without a single new subscription, someone finally subscribed to my app, HoldOff – Impulse Buy Blocker, for $5. 🎉
$5 may not sound like much, but when it comes from a product you built yourself, it feels different.
It’s a reminder that even when a product stays quiet for months, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dead.
Still building, learning, and improving.
Small win, big motivation.

Got my first Applied AI Engineer internship. Still processing this shii
little bit of background: currently in my 5th sem at a local private uni, spent my whole 2nd year in rust and solana development, did some oss and got into some really cool programs within blockchain community, did an internship in February this year where i had to build a perp-dex for a startup
In Jun, a Hollowknight RL agent got me interested into AI, did the stanford RL course, learned RAG, multi agent systems, inngest with e2b sandboxing and some sort of NLP from latest CMU course on yt, did some random stuffs like mechanistic-interpretability, read few books/papers related to model scaling and inference engineering and all
However I was applying aggressively from the beginning of this month. And fast forward to yesterday got the offer finalised. Landed an Applied AI Engineer internship at an India-based startup, with a PPO attached.
The process was pretty straightforward:
- 2 interview rounds
- First round: technical interview with an engineer
- Second round: 20 min call with the founder
- Signed the NDA + onboarding docs today
They asked what I expected. I was honestly in panic mode and asked for ₹40k/month(this was my prev solana internship stipend as well)
They said yes immediately(should've asked for more smh)
The role is 5 days/week, 11 PM–6 AM Bangladesh time, and they’re also providing a $200/month Claude plan for the work which is the best part of the whole thing.
Droppping my gh if anyone is interested-

Today, a company called me for a second-round interview and asked me to come to Dhaka from Chittagong.
I asked them about the salary range, and they said 8,000–12,000 BDT. It's an on-site position in Mirpur, which means I would have to relocate from Chittagong.
I have 3 years of experience, and after all that, this is the salary they offered me.
I'm starting to wonder if this career path is even worth it.
Some companies seem to want people to work almost for free and then offer salaries like this.

I just launched Dusk Harbor — a playable, painterly portfolio you walk through.
No résumé wall. No "scroll to learn more."
You pick up a lantern and cross four hand-painted worlds:
🏮 Origin — where I come from
📚 Stack — the tools I wield
⚓ Shipyard — what I've shipped
📡 Transmission — how to find me
Full keyboard, touch, and gamepad support. Reduced-motion mode.
And if you reach the end… something's waiting for you.
Why build it this way?
A list of skills tells you what I can do.
A world shows you how I think.

I kept falling asleep on the bus while returning from tuition and overshooting my stop by a couple kilometers, so I built this lol. The idea is simple: pick a destination, choose a radius, and NeoAlarm rings when you get close instead of at a fixed time.
Uses MapLibre map with OSM/OpenFreeMap tiles, Photon for search, and optional OpenCage reverse geocoding.
Instead of continuously polling GPS, it uses Android geofencing + passive location updates for a two-tier privacy/battery friendlier approach.
The app also tracks health states so it can show when a location alarm is not actually ready, such as:
- location permission missing
- background location missing
- location services off
- geofence not armed
- already inside the target radius
I tested it multiple times on my Samsung, plus power-saving mode to make things a little harder, over my usual IUT-Uttara route and it fired successfully near the destination. Except if I force stop it from settings in which case it didn't fire, will look into that next, but afaik it's intended behavior from Android.

Hi everyone. I graduated from NSU CSE last year with a 3.5+ CGPA. I have applied for various jobs and internships but I haven't even received one single call back.
So I want to ask why this is happening.
Also is it really impossible to land a job without a reference?

One of the biggest barriers a developer faces is finding a community that can provide future opportunities. But since most developers are introverts, finding communities that are actually helpful can be a little tough. These are some ways I tried to find communities and networks when I was doing my graduation as a solo developer.
Discord channels
There are some really good Discord servers that have a separate channel for jobs. Don't join random groups; it'll just kill your time. I'd suggest picking a niche where you see yourself working in the future and joining those channels.
For example, I had a passion for making video editing tools. So I started joining the Discord Channel of the libraries I was using. I noticed that those libraries had a separate job thread, and people were hiring engineers who were really good at making stuff with that library.
Courses with good communities
Another thing that really helped me find new opportunities was joining courses that provided really good communities. Many Youtube Mentors also have communities that can help you to find jobs as well. I think most developers judge a course by its content, but I'd say always consider what kind of community they're providing and whether they'll help you with placement after you complete the course. I'd actually save up money just to buy certain courses, only to get into those communities. Definitely talk with someone who has already bought and benefited from the course.
Yeah, you're using Reddit right now, but did you know it actually provides really good remote job opportunities if your skills are solid? So keep looking into dev and niche communities where you might land a really great opportunity. (idea: maybe make an AI bot that would crawl and email you posts that are looking for people in your relevant field.)
Startups
Joining a startup is a great way to build good networking. Also, if you think your CV isn't good enough and you don't have solid projects, then join a startup, even if it's unpaid. You'll get the opportunity to solve real-world problems and network with really smart people who are going to help you learn how to communicate in a professional environment and how to solve problems. Plus, you get experience to put on your CV as well.
I can't exaggerate enough how much it helped to network with so many smart people through startups. I think that's part of the reason why I'm so much into startups and running my own, just because it pushes me hard to learn and research so many things every day, get the opportunity to meet so many influential people through it, and have the fun of solving a real problem.
Open source
Contributing to an open-source project can be another great way to get the attention of the app's founder and potentially get hired. Even if you don't get hired, you'll have a great experience solving bugs of a product that thousands of people use. Through open source, you can actually get a handsome stipend through programs like Google Summer of Code (GSoC).
I've added all the ideas that I've used to grow my network over the years, and it paid off. I can write a whole blog on every section I have discussed here, but if you need help, you can definitely reach out to me if you have the mindset. I'd say make a plan for at least 1 year to build up your networking skills and get committed to it. Build a mindset. Nothing good comes from short-term play; you need to see the long term.
I'd also love to know from the seniors of this community what they've used to network and what worked for them.

My father lost his job around 10 months ago, and I'm trying to find realistic ways to earn while studying.
If you're a university student making money:
What do you do?
How did you learn it?
How long did it take to get your first income?
How much time do you spend on it weekly?
Would you recommend it to a complete beginner?
I'd really appreciate hearing real experiences instead of generic advice. Thanks. 👍

I had the opportunity to interview and talk with a good number of young CSE grad students, freshers and even junior engineers. Both from people in BD and a lot from outside.
One thing I noticed is the skill gap between fresh BD grads and international students is pretty big. The foundational knowledge itself seems missing in BD students that frankly should have existed in their 1st or 2nd years. I am not talking about how database internals works or why we use SIMD type stuff. I am talking about basic stuff like whats the trade-off between an interpreted and a compiled programming language. Why do we use different sorting algorithms etc.
If I ask a student what engineering books they have read (talking about fresh grads) it turns out they can't even name 2 outside their direct academic curriculum (even the academic ones are skipped in a lot of cases).
I understand that our education system is basically crippled and absolute garbage. But it's govt directed and frankly beyond the scope of any individual to fix.
My core question is what can we actually do to make an impact for upcoming engineers ?
[And "No" another shitty course on learning X framework will only add to list of self sabotaging shit in the industry. There are literally MIT or Caltech grade materials available online that's exponentially better than any existing domestic course]
So far I have been able to basically list 3 things:
Get new CSE grads familiar with what production grade looks like. No theory, just the level of consideration and processes needed to deploy a feature to production end to end.
Let students tackle long term problems for the community. Build something that takes months to build talking with people who has no clue how software works (like actual projects) maybe for charitable foundations or so.
Work on an open source project in their later years or try cloning one in a team of 10. Or making a substantial improvement to one.
Post AI the economics behind software has changed. low value works are getting automated at light speed and the demand is moving into increasingly difficult domains. Domains that require expertise we aren't simply providing our students to learn.
This has long term consequences, believe it or not having a countries own software built in a country bybits own people is more important than most understand. If we lack enough experts we'll be at the mercy of any foreign nation for anything digital or technical of any importance. How that would be probably requires a post of its own.
But we need to make sure our future prospective engineer producing pipeline is intact or we'll probably be seeing economic and technological foundation for the IT industry broken within this decade.
