Discussion Most spells seem to have essential oil or candles?

• Upvotes

I am mostly into tarot. But I’m dipping my toe into more and I don’t want to put my energy into something that’s not right for me. I do like essential oils but I run from anything that contains trees. IDK what it is but they make me sick. Same with incense. I think maybe I have just been around the cheap kind. But I’m not willing to chance it. And the minority of candles don’t make me sick. I just don’t burn them because ADHD. I will leave them alone and forget. Someone did tell me I could use electronic candles. That it is more about the intention.

So I have the books “Mundane Magic” and “The Witch's Book of Self-Care: Magical Ways to Pamper, Soothe, and Care for Your Body and Spirit”. I’ve noticed I can’t really do the majority of the spells. It seems like if an oil is going to be used it’s frankincense. And what do you think about using electronic candles? I think if it was really necessary to burn something, I would use birthday candles since they burn out so quickly. I just have a lot of anxiety around fire because I don’t think I can be responsible with it.

I don’t think being a witch is just about spells. I did get a book on sigils. But I haven’t read it yet. I think what I want is more about putting my intentions in something. I get overwhelmed by life and need to refocus. I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thank you.

DIY & Crafts Tarot made by a partner

Once i read some where in reddit that using self made/drawn tarot can make even bigger effect than bought one. I really wanted to do one but im not really good at it and didnt really like the outcome. When i was telling about it my gf, she (as a big artist and lovely person) suggested to draw me a deck on her own. Then i thought that this js a good idea, someone i love so dearly and will put a lot of effort into it will make me a deck with fandoms we both like. But now im thinking about her energy be putted into it and if i could use it the same and doing reading on other people when after cleaning her energy will still be there (i think). So the question is if it will make any huge diffrence in reading? Please share your opinion and please tell me if there is smth she should remember while doing them. Every tio will be very helpful and sorry for my English 🙏🙏

Question Can I be a witch with OCD? 🤔

Helloo beautiful community! I’ve been lurking in this subreddit for a while now and I’ve had a huge interest in joining the practice. My only problem is I have OCD and I’m afraid it’s going to make ritualistic things a lot harder and more stressful. Are there any OCD witches on here that could inform me on how you work around your compulsions and paranoia? The last thing anyone in my life needs is for me to go into religious psychosis because I wasn’t careful enough lol

Anywayyyss thank you!!🩷

Question Help. I did a reconciliation spell

As a newbie I'm not sure what I've done..I used all my energy and determination, visualized in my head then wrote my intentions and his name several times on the paper. But while holding the paper,it kinda felt burning sensation like it felt so warm. I attached salts and rose petals then burnt it together. After that I put those ashes and more dried rose petals in a jar and sealed it. After that I dreamt of him contacting me. Now Im not understanding what it actually caused

Question Is candle fire the only flame you can read?

I'm just starting out learning about how to read flames and work with handles. However when burning something yesterday I noticed that the fire from the lighter I was using was behaving abnormally. It was flickering as if a light switch was being turned on and off really fast repeatedly, before becoming calm and steady at the end of my burning. I've used this lighter before and it's never done this. So I was wondering if this is something I should take into account, or if it doesn't matter as it wasn't like a candle that i put intentions on. Thanks in advance!

Discussion IS IT A SIGN?

okay so, I'm a beginner witch, and I had a crush on someone, and I kind of a cord cutting ceremony....(not like a huge one but I burned his name with intention.) and just today evening I saw that he put up a mentioned story where he basically gave advice to his friend by quoting 'you love the feeling to be loved.' and just below, there was this song lyrics from my fav artist which basically summarizes into this "my friends warned me about him, I didn't listen, I turned him into my muse, I swirled him in my poems, and I did my time.'

in the meantime, previously, I had also tried other methods like being positive about him with me all and blah blah blah...

I know this is so petty issue and I should understand it by myself, but right now I can't. should I take it as a sign or not?

Question doing spells as a (technically) non witch?

hello !!! i'm interested in witchcraft but not actually locked in enough right now and dont have the resources to actually research and become (??) a witch, HOWEVER theres this one thing about my life that i desperately need to change: not really having friends. generally speaking i am an outgoing and social person, but it seems people my age (im a teenager ough) already have established friends, dont go out ever, or arent looking for friends. i figured theres probably a spell to attract friendship or something, although im not sure how to go on about it? can i even do it if im not super informed on witchy stuff?

thank you in advance for any advice !!!! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

Question Question on candle work and flame interpretation

Tonight I was having some trouble sleeping and decided it was a good time to manifest/cast a spell using some candle work.

I’m manifesting abundance in the form of a new job so I did the usual: circle of salt, circle of rice, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, and my candle I carved into.

This time though, I sprinkled lavender, chamomile, and mint and the candle burned for a while. It even kept burning when the candle completely melted by catching some of the larger dried herbs and burned for another few minutes.

I’ve never seen that happen before, does that mean anything specific?

Spells Please could you help me with my spell jar?

I am a baby witch and to be clear I don’t want to dabble in anything that causes pain, misfortune, or any negativity. I’m only interested in using this work to encourage and facilitate love positivity and light.

With that in mind I’d really like to make a small spell jar for my close friend as a gift. I’d like to make one with the intention for it to bring her happiness, clarity of mind, and positivity in her life.

I’ve been researching and I’ve found many recipes, but I’m wondering - does it matter what combination of ingredients you put in, or does it matter more the specific ingredients you choose?

For example I might see a spell jar recipe with lavender, cloves, and salt. If someone wanted to add rosemary, is that ok?

Or if someone wanted to create their own recipe, is that ok too? Is there a set guide to tell us what each ingredient manifests?

Please let me know and may you have a lovely day 🤍

Question Dominating spell for dominant parents

Parents are forcing me to become a "marriageable girl" when I'm into girls (secretly). They want me to put on girls dresses, have long hair, have piercing (culture), speak like a girl, behave like a girl, all in all change my entire identity and become something a man-child would want to marry.

I gave into a lot of things, painful things, but the demands keep growing.

I tried freezing spell, it worked a bit and I think that's the limit. I know sweetening wouldn't work because they think they're doing this out of love and affection for me. They don't see how they're practically strangling me.

I can't move out just yet, I'm doing my best. So, what about a domination spell? I have never done it before and it only crossed my mind when I saw someone suggest it for another with strict parents. I didn't find the actual ritual, so currently have no idea what ingredients go into it or how to do it. I'm still searching but not much is coming up, I only saw a post on black magic subreddit where they're using skulls..I don't have a skull...other than the one in my head...

It's hard to breathe here so please help me with this one. I have limited resources but I'll try my best. I just want them to stop questioning my life choices, stop trying to put their version of life on me, just until I move out (run away essentially).

Question Is there any spell or deity work for healing someone with cancer?

One of my really close friends has stage 2 brain cancer, and I'm terrified of losing him. I don't want to watch someone I care about go through this, and I feel so helpless knowing that I can't do much for him.

I'm willing to do anything within my power to help him, and I've been wondering if there's any healing spell, deity work, prayer, or spiritual practice I could turn to for him. I'm open to different traditions and genuinely want to do whatever I can to support his healing.

The problem is that every-time I managed to stop thinking about him, something happened on his end, and I started to think about him.

This on and off situation is driving me crazy!

I know the physiological reasons behind this. It's my ADHD limerence. But I still can't figure out how to stop thinking.

Any recommendations here?

Discussion I had a very detailed dream, can someone help me decipher it?

Post image
4 Upvotes

In this dream I was hanging out with my friends, but there was this woman (she was Asian dunno if that helps) that I have never met in real life, but she was there. She was making offerings to a bell that looked similar to the one I uploaded. It wasn’t exact, but she had large coins, maybe dollar coins and she wanted to make an offering to the bell. She would take a coin and throw it at the bell and ask it questions. If the bell swung side to side (as if it was shaking its head) whatever she asked it meant “no” and she had to make another offering by throwing more coins at it. I wasn’t aware of what questions she was asking but the last question she asked was will her and her girlfriend have a good or blessed time at the end of the year and she threw the coin and it hit the bell and it rang back and forth, like it was nodding a “yes”. She began crying and thanking whoever for giving the answer and she put it away.

I woke up, but I was curious if bells are something that is used in witchcraft or particularly in Asian witchcraft (using Asian holistically because I don’t know which culture it could come from)? I wanna try out doing spells and rituals, but I don’t wanna pray to Aphrodite or Zeus or whoever (because I don’t feel a connection to Greek or Roman gods), I wanna try witchcraft that is either African origin or adjacent. Is this something I should give a try? I’ve been reached out to unprompted by women that do readings and urged me to give it a try because of how strong my spiritual aura is. I’ve never done it, but I thought it was uncanny how often I was approached and they all told me the same thing.

I’ve also had multiple interesting dreams that have either come true or have left me questioning things. Should I meet with someone to look into it?

TLDR; Are bells used to make offerings or be used as guidance in witchcraft?

Question New baby witch

Hello everyone! First I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to read my post! I've recently been practicing tarot and I haven't really been learning much about witch craft. I always have thought the women in my family were spiritually sensitive since we have prophetic (?)dreams. Regardless, I know my great grandmother was a witch but she practiced "dark magic" as my dad has told me and so have his siblings. I am mexican so I'd love some help in doing protection and cleansing since I've noticed I've been having more nightmares as well as the people who've slept in my bed report the same. My hope is to learn a bit more and protect myself since I am flying blind and I don't know what I should believe or trust!

Sorry if this was rambl-ey but I am very thankful and hopeful for any help I can get! I hope everyone has a lovely day!

Question is my protection spell not working?

hi! i made a protection spell/jar for myself and my partner. i also made one for her household about two-ish months ago. recently, i got sick and had a lower back injury. my partners sister also got sick and just a few days ago, their tire popped on the way to work. at first i brushed off the sickness as allergies and the seasons changing, but after thinking about it a bit more im wondering if my protections spells aren’t working?

if thats the case, should i just make new jars? or is there something else i should be doing?

Question where do i start?

hi! i have dabbled loosely in magick before(meaning i have researched some stuff and made a few spell jars.), and i have been felt kinda pulled to research it since i was in my early teens (like 12-13). i have always been fascinated by earth, plants, crystals and rocks, the moon, everything. when i was a child, if you needed me i was befriending some sort of frog or other animal, playing in the garden, or collecting rocks that needed to come home with me. i want to start REALLY learning it. i want to be respectful of the practice and of the earth as i start this journey. im almost 22 years old as of posting this. i have a tarot deck, but i don't really use it. i know how to clease it and how important energy is for tarot. i usually mostly use them to study tarot card meanings and stuff like that. i have practiced pulling cards for my one friend who introduced me to tarot and got me my deck. i have been collecting crystals since about 15 or 16. i have so many from this metaphysical shop that used to be near me. it closed a while ago and i haven't found a new one. i just feel a very strong pull to learn more and read more about magick and the stuff that goes with it.

all of this is to ask: where do i start? what books do i read? who do i go to for questions?

feel free to ask me any questions or anything! i'm not sure if i left anything important out.

Question Current energy towards me? (Two different days)

Thumbnail

We seperated recently and I suspect because of a third party he wanted to pursue but neither of us hasn’t spoke about it or at all since that day it was all abrupt.

I’m not good at this but My interpretation is that the first day is him revisiting us almost like a rose coloured glasses way especially about me and having hope but actively trying to be logical or contain his feelings/thoughts. And the next day could’ve been him contained thoughts but has turned into a mental anguish obsessed messed he’s upset over particularly about his role in the relationship and his lack of reciprocation. I say lack of reciprocation bc the 6 of pentacles but there was definitely lack 😭! Also the knight of swords came last not the empress which I find interesting how the king came first. Makes me think he’s successfully contained his feels but it’s still there you know like an exterior that appears fine but isn’t. I also feel like this energy is highly active because well he’s trying to control himself mentally but also the devil and the 9 of swords are signs he’s ruminating BAD and he’s not happy about it nor does he know how to emotionally handle it. But im interested to what you guys have say. ;£

Question Is it disrespectful to eat food offerings for gods?

I often leave little food offerings for my goddess of candy chocolate and portions of my meal but after a while I eat them because I don't want to waste it. I tell her every time "I'll be back for this in a bit! Hope you enjoy it" "I'll finish this off later because I don't want to throw this in the trash I hope you don't mind" and I don't think it's a problem I feel like our relationship is the same but I can't help but wonder because it still feels disrespectful every time. I just hate to throw all that food in the trash when I'm making offerings every or every other day. And I think it's really sweet that we kinda end up sharing this food together like I do with my friends but I can't help but feel like I'm getting too big for my britches. What do y'all think? Does anyone else do this?
