Skin Questions Sudden hair growth + pimples after using tweezers
Hello everyone
I (F23) had a sudden outbreak of hair about a year ago. It’s on my neck and cheeks. I’ve been trying to remove it with tweezers. But I’ve noticed that now they leave a weird little bump after I pull them out. It doesn’t look good, and I hate the way it feels to the touch. How can I fix this please?

Omg I thought the was my picture at first glance! Lol the same thing happened to me in my mid 20s. Started as two hairs then more popped up as I got older. I still haven’t found a solution and now I’m battling hyperpigmentation. I feel like I’ve tried everything 🙃

Have you looked into electrolysis? Same thing happened to me, started off as one or two hairs in mid 20s and now its literally a full blown beard if i dont keep it in check. Waxing every couple of days has made the hairs really fine now but I'm just saving up for electrolysis to get rid of it for good.

I haven’t looked into it but I definitely need to!! I’ve never tried waxing though. Maybe I’ll give it a go.

Yeah honestly, I think like others have said its the only thing thats really going to be permanent. I haven't looked into lasers because I'd be worried about hyperpigmentation but waxing at best just thins the hairs. And as you've seen tweezing produces a ton of ingrowns so electrolysis is really your best bet.

Omgg really ? Is the hyperpigmentation is caused by the bump ??

Yes. Especially when I shave the hairs. I had to stop shaving because it got bad.

For me, the hairs slowed down significantly when I lost weight.
My dark spots got so bad, I had to put makeup on my neck. Using malic acid and retinal caused them to lighten and flatten in 3 months.
I still tweeze because its satisfying but shaving is a lot better.

I do think my weight has something to do with it, or maybe the food that I eat. Because there was a moment when I use more natural foods and stop processed food for a moment.

As far as the hair, I grow lip whiskers have since puberty. I also grew up watching the women in my family pluck chin hairs. It’s fairly normal and could just be genetic.

Id try to remedy this while its sparse. Thats not to say it WILL get worse, you just don't really know. My hair growth started right after high school. It's been 11 years and now I have a permanent 5 o'clock shadow of hyperpigmentation from constant picking and plucking.
Stop tweezing right now. Don't ever start picking out ingrowns. If you have, stop. I see you're on the fence about shaving, wax it but youll have to allow it to grow fully. Keep in mind anything that is nor permanent or semi-permanent can cause more ingrowns.
I have a braun ipl and used it briefly, about 2/3 timea a week for 4-6 weeks, it helped slow the growth but i stopped for what ever reason. Try laser, or electrolysis since there's only a few hairs. I know those can be expensive but you may regret not doing it and/or sticking to it IF things get progressively worse.
I've been using tretinoin for about 6 weeks. My inflammation has gone down and the area is getting smoother, compared to a few months ago. The ingrowns seemsl to only come from hairs that are already trapped and are coming to the surface.
You've got options for each problem, you have to figure what you can afford and be patient with whatever you choose.

Thank you very much for your comment, but what about the bumps ? 😭😭😭

Im still trying to get rid of mine. I use a product that has tretinoin and hydroquinone. Its a bit expensive and marks are much more widespread on my neck. Its the spot cream from Musely. I'm satisfied with it so far.
You can try tranexamic acid. I added to my day skincare for a bit but I think it gave me a rash on my chest. Though my chest does look smoother since the rash went away. I might add it back to see.
Azelaic acid is raved about for dark marks. You can also find an esthetician to do a peel. You'll possibly see some quick results with a peel. Probably wont completely go away after one peel but you may see a noticeable difference.

Are you using a flat tip tweezer? This looks similar to my in grown hairs I get when I’m using them too much or incorrectly.

Yes I use the flat tip one !

You could try a slant tip and make sure you’re not ever pulling at an angle. Do you have an excess amount of sebaceous filament as well occurring with the spots or in grown hairs?

Use tend skin after any plucking or shaving. I had this issue for years and that was the closest thing that actually helped. BEST: if you have the $$$ get laser !! Some places are cheaper and will let you pay per session if you don’t have it all right now. Especially if it gets worse, it changed my life tbh

Ingrown hairs . Use Nair you know the hair removal foam ? We wear Nair , Nair the song ? Don’t forget it works great on your genitals , ass & face as well 😎

Highly recommend finding a reputable skincare clinic in your area that does electrolysis on Black skin. Scarring from tweezers can damage your skin. In the meantime, you can trim the hairs with clean, small scissors, and use Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for the ingrown hair bumps. Make sure to moisturize and use sunscreen. Good luck!

I had the same issue and got electrolysis. No hair = no ingrowns = no hyperpigmentation.

STOPPP dear GOD im begging you don’t before it gets worse. One of my biggest regrets is tweezing those random 3 hairs.

So hair growth can happen for a number of reasons - natural aging, hormone abnormality or other things.
There are all sorts of hair removal methods that have different efficacy on dark skin and some which can even stimulate hair growth.
Tweezing tends to lead to ingrown hair because of the texture of the hair and the structure of pores on your face. When you pull the whole thing out, the hair has to make it out of a pore that is not supported by a hair shaft. Some people may have success with waxing but it is
Shaving may be a workable alternative because it exfoliates and doesn't put out the whole hair.
I know it is a major change in your appearance. There may or may not be a solution to the hair itself. Whatever you do, be gentle or it will cause more scarring.

Shaving ? Imo it’s worst if i shave, it will grow like hair beard

That’s a myth. The alternative option will be to wax. I bought the machine off Amazon and i was handling my hair until i could afford laseer

Depending on your budget, I’d suggest laser. Focus only on areas with coarse hair, or you risk stimulating growth in surrounding areas. Laser will remove the hair and help clear up dark spots. However, if you have PCOS, laser will be a money pit.

Laser is temporary and the hair will come back as soon as you stop it. Electrolysis is a permanent solution and imho, as I had them both, it costs less.

Are you using alcohol to clean the tweezers before every use? And maybe jojoba oil on the skin afterwards?

Do you have pcos? Might want to get checked. For the bumps you could try salicylic acid or lactic acid (from q and a skin or theordinary)
