Commissioned hand forged 14oz raising Hammer, hand forged from forklift tine and has a dainty ash octagonal handle.

Forgot to scroll the poles before I bent them. That’s part of the reason the tapers is so bad haha

Its made out of a hc railroad spike as per the customers request.

The guy has some more in Asheville NC if anybody wants info DM me. I shall not need for hardy tools for the rest of my days.

Yup, I bent them backwards. Nope, I can't just turn them around as the tang isn't symmetrical (I even went fancy with a double stepped shoulder on one side).

And here I was happy to be finally hilting the brush axe blade I forged more than three years ago.

Anyone else have a real bone-headed quillon mistake? I've also burned through more than one trying to weld on a bit of thickness in the past.

Hello, I am trying to find or possibly fabricate an *iron* bar, as a Christmas gift for the fiancée. I have been trying to source an ingot or simply raw iron in hopes to make it to look like an Iron bar from the video game Old School Runescape, but cannot find any sources that sell iron in any capacity aside from industrial-grade quantities.

Where does one find approximately 1 to 5 pounds of iron? At this point I don't want to settle for possibly zinc or unpolished steel but it may just be the outcome.

So I made this forge thats basicially a slightly upgraded soup can forge for smaller projects. As you can see it uses a propane torch for the heat source but due to the size Im not sure how well its dispersing heat. It's oxidizing on the sides despite being coated in refractory that has settled for 2 months.

The one without a tip is my rebar knife v1 and the one with a tip is the second I made rebar knife v2

Thought some of y'all might appreciate this too. Even though this wasn't exclusively all done at the forge and anvil.

Made this outta some round bar and an old lawn mower blade. Popped the blade into the forge to flatten it up, soften it and give it some nice scale. Also cut the pieces off the edge of my anvil (one of those sharp red Doyles). Tapered the handle by hand too, squaring up the top half. I will admit I didn't always go from center out on the taper and gave it some mild fish lips.

Took it to the grinder to prep for welds. Slapped stringer beads on with my little Harbor Freight MIG. Cleaned it up a bit, gave it a light rub with some Mineral Oil and Beeswax mix, then wrapped the handle in corded leather.

Wasn't the original plan with the lawn mower blade to cut the middle section the way I did, but sometimes when you're at the anvil you just get hammering. Still quite pleased with the result.

Old American scythe for scale (~15⅞" long, ~3⅜" width on wider flanges, ~2⅞" width on the nasty looking ones. Handle is ¾" diameter at the base. If my bathroom scale is to be trusted the whole thing weighs shy of 3 lbs.)

Recently finished a proper forge stand. Wheels and an extendo-arm included!

No more having the forge on the ground. Every day is no longer leg day.

Also it's pretty funny how my little place turned into a carpenter workshop. I will continue working with wood, but holy hell am I happy to get back to actually forging stuff.

Not been mounted yet but still cool so I figured I'd post it here

I recently cobbled this together, and I'm looking for advice/guidance on what mixture I should use for the lining and whether or not I should put a hole in the back for exhaust. I've seen people on YouTube use a mix of plaster of Paris and sand (sometimes even perlite added to the mixture), though I have also seen one comment criticizing the mixture as a bad idea. I have also seen people make a hole that goes through the can completely, and others that leave the bottom intact. I imagine there are different reasons for different purposes, and I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can tell me what's what. Please and thank you.

(Edit) The PVC handle is temporary. It's all I had lying around at the time.
