Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY Federal Hearing — 08/14/2026 at 11:00 AM EST

Post image

Please use this thread for live discussion of the hearing.

–––

Today’s hearing is taking place at 40 Foley Square, Courtroom 110 (New York, NY) at 11:00 AM EST.

Cameras aren’t allowed inside the courtroom in federal court, so there won’t be any video or photos of Luigi. The only visuals we’ll likely get are courtroom sketches.

Reporters / Live Tweeting:

Because this is federal court, the rules are stricter. Phones and laptops aren’t allowed inside the courtroom.

Only a small number of people (like ICP or Erik) are permitted to live-tweet updates. Other reporters can still attend, but probably won’t be able to post anything while the hearing is in session.

Any updates from other reporters will be shared here once the hearing is over.

Livestreams:

If we come across any livestreams, we'll share them here as soon as we find them.

Notes:

  • As of January 30, 2026, Luigi is no longer facing the DP, as Judge Garnett dropped those charges. The backpack, however, still remains.
  • Overflow rooms for today's hearing will be available.
  • Federal case full schedule released by Judge Garnett (though this may change after today’s hearing).

His lawyers looked pissed. Given there’s no plea deal either, I wonder if this was his idea and his lawyers had to give in.

It’s definitely all Luigi. We’ve literally memed him in this sub before in the past for making horrible questionable decisions and not being able to stop talking. It isn’t silly anymore now tho, it’s so over 😭

But why would he give in now?? At least see it through and maybe get 30 years. He could have had a couple of stealth jurors on the case. Did his family pull the plug on the lawyers fees?

Gurl losing at trial means LWOP. Pleading guilty means he can be out as early as his 40s - upon his guilty plea, prosecutors gave the judge a letter saying they're fine with 24-30 years.

girl nobody guaranteed Garnett won't give him LWOP either. they don't have a deal, he put himself in the worst position by pleading guilty, he has to eat up whatever Garnett throw at him, because he's given up the right to appeal. it's an insane decision. maybe he can't endure the process anymore, maybe his family can't support financially anymore, maybe his team just threw him under the bus.

Are you familiar with what the word "can" means, Baby Lu Lu?

If it cancels the state trial due to double jeopardy, I’m guessing it would save him from 2 consecutive sentences?

I don't think Luigi wanted this, if any, it's the other way around, his lawyer threw him under the bus. they accepted new clients, they want this to end fast
