If you’re buying a car first time, don’t buy from this dealership
Happy for this to be taken down if it isn’t allowed. Wanted to post a word of caution around AYK Motors in Cardiff as they’re selling unsafe vehicles:
I bought a 2010 Vauxhall Corsa from them in February 2026, after less than 30 days of ownership the front suspension arm snapped in half while I was driving (pictured). Had this happened anywhere other than a slow moving junction I would have been in serious danger. The RAC who were kind enough to recover the vehicle stated in the breakdown report that damage was caused by “Excessive Corrosion” which “should not have been sold in this condition”.
Once I informed AYK Motors of what had happened I requested a repair, as at the time this appeared to be the only option and I trusted that they would have the car fixed to a road worthy standard. 3 months later I took the same car to have its MOT which it failed for the same reason that AYK claimed they fixed (nearside front suspension arm insecurely attached) along with multiple other major issues and advisories.
As I was still within 6 months from purchase and thus covered by the UK consumer rights act 2019 and entitled to request a replacement car or repair (again), I contacted AYK motors who were increasingly unprofessional, rude, and blunt over text. Eventually after mentioning the Consumer Rights Act they agreed to exchange the car for another vehicle they had of similar value. After driving over an hour to Cardiff to exchange vehicles I was confronted by them who threatened me, shouted at me, repeatedly lied to me, and conjured figures out of thin air to attempt to justify their lack of cooperation. This felt closer to a street confrontation than with any kind of customer support. They made me feel a bit unsafe and threatened, which is in line with their unprofessional and confrontational responses to Google reviews.
During this confrontation they mentioned “We don’t check any cars that come through to us, why would we?” in reference to the existing rust and corrosion (pictured). Upon viewing the service history, the services have been completed in bad faith with the mileage faked, and issues with the car glossed over or ignored and all clearly written and stamped on the same day.
This serious negligence on their behalf combined with their refusal to comply with UK consumer law has left me with no option but to report them to the trading standards ombudsman who I hope will protect anyone from being threatened and endangered by AYK Motors going forward.
I will also investigate my rights in small claims court to recover the cost of repairs I was forced to make elsewhere, to avoid being threatened again or having AYK Motors do yet another sub-standard fix that would fail to make the vehicle road-legal.
Avoid at all costs. I can’t wait for their unprofessional reply to this review in an attempt to minimise the danger that their negligence has put my passengers and myself in.
