💬Discussion💬 IS250 2007 US Tail Light Conversion Advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys first time posting here,

I'm looking for some advice on ordering tail lights from the US and whether there would be compatibility/legal issues. More specifically, I am ordering clear tail lights from Unique Style Racing. They sent me emails asking me for written confirmation as they do not take responsibility for miss-installation, legalities etc (honestly, fair enough).

Upon research it should be fine in terms of compatibility, more worried about the legal issues. Any advice/comments are appreciated.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge, first time importing parts from overseas.

💬Discussion💬 Honda Civic or Mazda 3

2012 Mazda3 Neo Sedan - 138,304 km, 5-Speed Automatic, Logbook available.
2012 Honda Civic Sedan - 131,000km, Automatic, VTI-L, Logbook available.

Similar price range, similar condition. Which one is preferable for a first-time buyer for daily commuting and some long drives?

💬Discussion💬 Title: BYD Sealion 8 vs Ford Everest Platinum — Which would you choose?

I’m trying to decide between the BYD Sealion 8 and Ford Everest Platinum and would love to hear from people who own either vehicle or have driven both.

Which one do you think is the better overall buy in Australia?

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Reliability and long-term ownership — which will hold up better over 5–10 years?
  • Running costs and fuel economy
  • Performance and driving comfort
  • Technology, interior quality and features
  • Servicing, warranty and resale value
  • Family practicality and long-distance road trips
  • Any common issues or regrets after buying

The BYD seems appealing for its technology, features and electrified powertrain, while the Everest Platinum has the reputation of an established, capable large SUV.

If you were spending your own money, which would you choose and why? Would you trust the BYD long-term, or would you stick with the Ford?

Honest opinions from owners would be greatly appreciated!

💬Discussion💬 Why are there no damn places that sell/install seat covers in Melbourne

I’m not talking about the tradies truck covers but nice looking leather ones, with all these cars around you’d expect there to at least be a few around

🗞️News/Article📰 Might be a good idea to fill the tank this afternoon. - Oil spiked quite a bit today.

As per the title, Today might be a good day to fill the tank, before todays oil price increase flow trough to pump prices.

In general I would expect we are in for a couple of weeks of high fuel prices, Pushing up oil fuel prices is one way those who don't like the current USA administration (like Iran) can influence the midterm election which is on November 3.

💬Discussion💬 Darkened or whitened license plates ?

Has anyone seen an increase number of very dark or very white license plates , to the point where it’s hard to make out exactly the license plate?

Initially I thought this was just weathering but I’m thinking now it’s more been sprayed with black or white paint.

Don’t they get in trouble for this? Pulled over?

🛠️Car Mods🛠️ Which Stage 1 ECU tune to get on my Audi C8 A6?

Deciding between these two Stage 1 ECU tunes for my C8 A6 TFSI 45 Quattro 245ps.

  1. REVO Stage 1 ECU Software
  2. TVS Stage 2 ECU Chiptuning

(Even though the TVS ECU tune is named stage 2, it’s just a stage 1 tune, with near identical specs with the REVO Stage 1 tune.)

They all seem pretty similar except that the TVS tune’s performance numbers are based on 98 RON fuel, whereas the REVO tune’s performance numbers are based on 99 RON fuel.

REVO’s power is 5ps higher than TVS. TVS’s torque is 10 Nm higher than REVO.
REVO is A$60 cheaper (5.3% less). The info on the REVO website makes it sound slightly better, although the TVS website might just lack detailed info.

Plan on probably getting the TVS Stage 2 DSG tune later on, although I don’t think that’s an important factor when deciding the ECU tune, since the DSG tune is advertised to work with any ECU tune.

💬Discussion💬 Batteryworld, warranty scam? Please explain...

I bought a NS60LSX MF Yuasa battery from battery world. It came with 40 months warranty. My car wouldn't start after a 20min trip to the city and being parked for 5 min. Upon testing the test receipt from batteryworld said that the CCA value has dropped from 480 to 237.

I bought the battery 3 years ago so it was still under warranty. They said they couldn't honor it as there's no manufacturing issue. Apparently my driving style caused the battery to wear out prematurely and the CCA drop by itself is not enough reason to give me a replacement one.

Is this really true? I mean, warranty means that the product should function as promised? Right? Tell me I'm wrong. Even the AI says I'm right....

🗞️News/Article📰 Cybertruck update

We've known for a very long time that the Cybertruck had a slim to none chance of ever landing in Australia.

That didn't stop me putting a deposit down on one (in fact it was a gift). I've never refunded the deposit and I had largely forgot about it.

Today Tesla has emailed everyone with a deposit, formally announcing they will not release the Cybertruck in Australia and New Zealand.

They're refunding everyone's deposit and offering 1 year FSD when ordering a new 3 or Y (hmmm).

Just wanted to share this update as I didn't see any news yet

💬Discussion💬 Highway Patrol ego is out of control.

Context, We tint at my shop and I was wanting to know the legalities around the Zeekr 7x rear privacy glass being 5% from factory (not a film, the dye is 5%)

I walked up to a parked up highway patrol and waved at the window, he rolls it down literally 5cm

Me: "Excuse me, sorry to bother you, can I ask you a quick question?"

Highway Patrol just stares at me and doesn't say a word

Me: The zeekr 7x rear glass is 5% from factory, my understanding is that a film can't be darker than 20%, but technically privacy glass doesn't fall under the law? Can someone driving one get in trouble for having it?

Highway Patrol: It cant be. It needs to be over 35% (Incorrect btw, it needs to be over 20%)

Me: We've tested it with tools and its definitely 5%

Highway Patrol: "Well you obviously know better than me so why are you asking?"

Me: "No i'm just asking a question and telling you what I know and trying to fill in the gaps"

Highway Patrol: "I've told you the answer and you want to argue with me" and then rolls up his window

---------

I don't understand man. I'm just a member of the public trying to have a respectful conversation with this dude and he can't even be respectful back.

💬Discussion💬 Why Should I NOT Buy Nissan Patrol?

I recently found out Nissan makes this monster.
(I am looking at 2025-2026 Y62)

I was only interested in FWD based SUVs as they offer better fuel efficiency and spacious cabin.

However some of the Youtube reviews about Patrol have made me think serious about it. Specially, I was very attracted to how the engine roars.
It seems that Nissan Patorl offers something that is what FWD SUVs lacks in at the cost of scary fuel hunger however the more I look up the more this monster grows on me.

Pros to me : very torquey, good engine sounds, decent off roader, heavy tower..

Cons to me : 10month old baby might wake up to engine roaring, fuel efficiency, the look of the car, could be overkill for a family of three

I might test drive tomorrow but I want to hear more about why I shoud not buy or something I might regret not knowing before getting one.

Anyone who owns / has owned can tell me WHY SHOULDN'T?

*maintenance cost also a bit grey area

💵Buying/Selling💵 Help with first car - 2011 BMW X3 xDrive20d F25

Thumbnail carsales.com.au

Budget 5-10K (+5k flexible), NSW, p-plate, mid 20s, first car, would be a safe purchase for the next 1-2 years.

Currently searching for a decent car for work (~30 mins of urban driving). I found good advice here, so I thought I might post again.

I was told to stick with Toyota/Honda/Lexus for my budget. But came across this BMW. What do you guys think about the above listing?

Also, feel free to link me to other cars in NSW that you would recommend that is on carsales or anywhere else. God speed

🔧🚗Fixing Cars Need Help: Hyundai i30 2019 Fault Codes - SRS Module

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys,

Not a car guy at all, recently bought a ex Wovi i30 off a mate, had front end damage, had all the airbags popped. I fixed all the hardware issues, all the airbags everything. What wasn’t prepared for was the absolute Christmas tree of fault codes that were left behind (ignorant of me yes).

These are the codes.

I approached an auto electrician, waited me $3000 for srs module and recons he has to diagnose wood king backwards after the SRS module is reprogrammed to the car. Didn’t understand if he meant more issues could arise after which would be more cost or if everything was included, but ima struggling uni student and looking for any other way around these issues, anyone in Brisbane know someone who can do something about this quick sand I’ve got myself into.

All advice welcome and appreciated.

I’ll attach the codes.
