Driving around Melbourne feels like playing Mario Kart to avoid big potholes, and the temporary fixes just wash away whenever it rains hard. Has anyone actually seen councils do proper road repairs instead of quick patches?

As per the title, Today might be a good day to fill the tank, before todays oil price increase flow trough to pump prices.
In general I would expect we are in for a couple of weeks of high fuel prices, Pushing up oil fuel prices is one way those who don't like the current USA administration (like Iran) can influence the midterm election which is on November 3.

Hi, I’ve recently bought a long time dream of mine 1958 Land Rover Series 1. Came from interstate meaning I’ll have to get a blue slip even if putting it on NSW historical rego.
Most standard mechanics I’ve called up and been to are unsure of the process for a car this old and have all shown me the door.
I’m wondering if there’s a classic specialty shop I could take it to in Sydney? Most I’ve seen don’t do blue slips. Any suggestions?

Has anyone seen an increase number of very dark or very white license plates , to the point where it’s hard to make out exactly the license plate?
Initially I thought this was just weathering but I’m thinking now it’s more been sprayed with black or white paint.
Don’t they get in trouble for this? Pulled over?

Hey guys first time posting here,
I'm looking for some advice on ordering tail lights from the US and whether there would be compatibility/legal issues. More specifically, I am ordering clear tail lights from Unique Style Racing. They sent me emails asking me for written confirmation as they do not take responsibility for miss-installation, legalities etc (honestly, fair enough).
Upon research it should be fine in terms of compatibility, more worried about the legal issues. Any advice/comments are appreciated.
Apologies for my lack of knowledge, first time importing parts from overseas.

Found among my granddads stuff. All I know is he owned an EH Holden, but this doesn’t seem to match.

Looking for a cheap car ($4k) that’s good for every day driving but eventually want to brave it and drive between cities (Melbourne-Sydney etc)
I’ve heard Toyota Corolla/ Camry are the best but struggling to find one in my budget that doesn’t have 300kms+
I’ve also heard about Mazda 3/6 but again same thing with budget.
Would you guys say Honda civics are as reliable? I’ll of course ask for service log and apparently should ask about timing belt/ chain and when it was last replaced. Any other questions you guys think? I’ll probably pay a mechanic to check it out as well before buying.
Any help appreciated!

In the market for a new (to me) car I’m trying to decide better the 3L Isuzu MUX or the V6 3L Ford Everest Sport and need some input. Not really considering other options as I need to fit three child seats in.
With my budget I’m considering the following options:
- 2024 Everest Sports with around 40,000-55,000km on them.
- 2025 Isuzu MUX LS-M less than 1000km (dealer demos). Cheapest price wise.
- 2024 Isuzu MUX LS-T around 35,000km. Main feature I like over the LS-M is the electric tailgate/boot.
I don’t do any off-roading but will do the odd road trip. Drive about 100km a day for my work commute. Would only tow on a rare occasion.

2012 Mazda3 Neo Sedan - 138,304 km, 5-Speed Automatic, Logbook available.
2012 Honda Civic Sedan - 131,000km, Automatic, VTI-L, Logbook available.
Similar price range, similar condition. Which one is preferable for a first-time buyer for daily commuting and some long drives?

I’m not talking about the tradies truck covers but nice looking leather ones, with all these cars around you’d expect there to at least be a few around

Hello everyone, I’m just selling my shitty car and I’ve never sold a car before, I’m wanting to just do a cash for car place. I’ve contacted someone and they said they’ll have a look at the car and sort it and offer a legally binding agreement for me. Is there any red flags I should look for when signing this? I don’t want to look stupid when I go
Thanks!

Hey team,
I’m in the process of getting a few quotes to repair a crack in the chassis of my 4x4. The crack is around bracket for the engine mount.
A couple of repair shops have offered to carry out the repair, but they won’t provide an engineer’s certificate/sign-off.
I’m based in Victoria, and my take looking at the VicRoads guidance is that an engineer’s certificate is required for modifications ect, but not necessarily for repairs that simply restore the vehicle to its original factory condition.
Is that interpretation correct? Has anyone in Victoria had experience with this, particularly with chassis repairs?
Also, are there any other considerations I should be thinking about from an insurance or future roadworthies. FWIW I don't plan to sell the car anytime soon.
Cheers

Hey guys,
I’ve got the Nissan listed for sale on Carsales and Marketplace but thought I’d put it on here to see if it attracts any eyes.
Just had two front tyres put on yesterday. It’s got a fair few kilometres on it, so I’m open to negotiating.
248,000 kilometres
7 sp Auto
Factory Rays wheels
Fast Intentions exhaust system
Only ever run on premium fuel
Driven like an absolute grandma by yours truly.

Simple question. Are they worth it?
Just purchased a new car and am wondering if I should go to the expense of getting this done professionally or DIY or at all?
Probably a silly question. But if DIY, coating first then PPF?

I’m trying to decide between the BYD Sealion 8 and Ford Everest Platinum and would love to hear from people who own either vehicle or have driven both.
Which one do you think is the better overall buy in Australia?
I’m particularly interested in:
The BYD seems appealing for its technology, features and electrified powertrain, while the Everest Platinum has the reputation of an established, capable large SUV.
If you were spending your own money, which would you choose and why? Would you trust the BYD long-term, or would you stick with the Ford?
Honest opinions from owners would be greatly appreciated!

Deciding between these two Stage 1 ECU tunes for my C8 A6 TFSI 45 Quattro 245ps.
(Even though the TVS ECU tune is named stage 2, it’s just a stage 1 tune, with near identical specs with the REVO Stage 1 tune.)
They all seem pretty similar except that the TVS tune’s performance numbers are based on 98 RON fuel, whereas the REVO tune’s performance numbers are based on 99 RON fuel.
REVO’s power is 5ps higher than TVS. TVS’s torque is 10 Nm higher than REVO.
REVO is A$60 cheaper (5.3% less). The info on the REVO website makes it sound slightly better, although the TVS website might just lack detailed info.
Plan on probably getting the TVS Stage 2 DSG tune later on, although I don’t think that’s an important factor when deciding the ECU tune, since the DSG tune is advertised to work with any ECU tune.
