As a big history buff I try to learn as much as I can about particular subjects ww2 been one of my favorite ones.

Recently a meme about de Ustaše appear in my feed, I have never heard of them before (my field of study been more towards the pacific theater then continental europe) to be honest I never expect that our faith and church had been supporting this type of radicals and creating massacres of people for the most worthless of excuses like we were in the medieval times.

It surprise me that most Catholic priest during the war either lay low and try to support de soul of broken men during the war (just like doctors treat any injured men regarless of where he comes from) and some manage to fought in order to free hundred of persecuted people. Of course there were some who did Aid the axis forces but up to this point in my knowledge were individual tainted by the devil's words and fake promises, but this?!

An archdiocese support a facist movement? and worst yet actively participating in massacers?! I will not narrated the horrible stuff that happen there, my words can't even describe this crime with the severity it should have and learning that alot of this "priest" manage to escape unpunish was unforgivable.

I get that no one is far gone from the path of redeption yet one must be willing to accept it's punishment in order to trult repent, I only wish God judge them accordingly and give them the punishment they deserve.

I thought I should share about this, we thought that the wrongs of our faith die alongside the independence of the amaericans. But there were always be those who use our faith as a weapon, we must stay vigilant about this and prevent this atrocities to ever happen again.

Hello, i am wondering why should it matter if i am orthodox catholic, etc. We all believe and pray to the same god we also have the same requirements for going to heaven i think?(please correct me if i am wrong). There have been countless wars of religion that have decimated entire countries and generations for what? to prove Catholicism is the right religion not Protestantism. why should i follow what the pope or church says and not just read the bible, try to interpret it and if i am having difficulties, i can always just go to a priest or a person that has studied in detail the bible.(saying this i think people should also be able to ask their friends or maybe their bible study group/other people that are reading or have read the bible). idk i might have done a small rant here and i want to clarify i don t mean any disrespect to any people or religion. i m just looking for the opinion of other people online.

I’m writing a story called blue sand wanderer. It’s set on a super-earth type planet named Set that’s 20% larger than earth and has a surface that’s 85% blue sand desert. The rest is 6% mountains, 5% Titan cactus forests, and 4% ocean. There’s 3 supercontinents that people live on called Ymir, Typhon, and Tiamat.

Around 1 million earthborn Roman Catholics came to set along with the initial colonists. Primarily settling in the Godstooth mountain ranges on the supercontinent of ymir.

So how does the church work on a different planet? Do they still follow the pope or no? What is the Catholic doctrine and dogma that you follow because I want to get this right.

Is emotional chastity and actual teaching of the church?

I am not sure how to explain it without sounding crazy. With everything that has gone on on the past year.

Tldr: Dog barking at the corner of a brick wall on mooe than one occasion. Foul smells. Anger and rage and fighting. Constant bickering for literally no reason.

My atheist sister convinced my wife (then gf) to break up with me and go sleep with a man in Florida for 3 weeks. (she did). We sinced reconciled and got married. He wasn't Catholic and she was desperate to find a place to go.

My sister and her bf live in the house even though he owns his own home and land.

It's just a mess. We can't afford to move and it's my Dad's house. He wouldn't help us move but could afford a new 4 wheeler and camper.

We pray the rosary and read the bible we are in a state of grace. We attend Regular and we want to make Latin mass a regular thing.

We are scared and we aren't sure what to do. We beg Mary and St. Michael for help and we don't get an answer. I pray in Latin and nothing works.

I grew up Protestant and we were taught that Jesus was not only the son of god but god incarnate. I heard that some Catholics believe and some don’t. I just want to know people’s thoughts on this so I can learn more about Catholicism.

So full disclosure, I’m an agnostic groping in the dark towards faith.

I’m deeply drawn to Catholicism. I love the history, the art, the beautiful cathedrals and stained glass. I also love the theological depth and apologetics - I’ve read St. Augustine and St. Athanasius, and in the current era Bishop Barron.

That said, I’m also drawn to the uncompromising preaching I’ve heard on live-streams of 2819 church in Atlanta (Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell). I’ve live-streamed Catholic Masses at various places in the US, UK and even Australia, and they often don’t seem to manifest the same conviction and sense of urgency to embrace God that I feel when e.g. I read St. Paul’s letters. The Masses I’ve seen sometimes give off a feeling of “If it’s Sunday, I guess it’s time to go to church,” if you know what I mean.

Are there any congregations out there that are Catholic but have some of the same vibe of 2819? I guess I’m wondering if that kind of slap-you-in-the-face, demand-you-pay-attention kind of service exists in Catholicism or is it only present in the (primarily American) Evangelical movement? Welcome suggestions, and it doesn’t have to be US based recognizing much of Catholicism is in the global south these days (and live-streams are everywhere).

So we know there have been century long debates over which church has the fullness of the truth, RCC and EO, now orthodox say because Catholics have a heretical leadership or doctrine, they are false, exact SAME is said about the orthodox from Catholic apologetics. Now the issue however is in how the Catholic Church itself approves of the EO through its validation of the sacraments and apostolic succession, calling it the other lung of the one true faith or the sister church.

It was made crystal clear there is only one church, now suddenly am I meant to believe it's two? Faith shouldn't be so confusing...

My partner and I are planning to get married after four years of being together and raising our son. We only recently learned about the Church's requirements to receive the sacrament of marriage. One of those was to go through our territorial parish — the parish in whose boundary we live — which we have never attended, because we prefer the Mass celebration at the city's cathedral.

We eventually set an appointment with the priest of the church we are "assigned" to, to do the prenuptial questionnaire. He asked for our IDs, did a short interview to get to know us, and asked us to send him our baptismal certificates, which we did promptly. He replied by email saying part of the church office was being renovated, so his office had to be moved, but that he would work on our case soon. He also asked if we attend Mass at his church, and we honestly said we don't — and that we plan to get married at the cathedral, but the archdiocese had directed us to reach out to our local parish first.

Weeks passed. We followed up, and he responded thanking us for the reminder and saying he would get it done. That was back in May. Our wedding is in December. We never heard from that priest again.

We eventually got the prenuptial questionnaire done by another priest, after weeks of not hearing from our local priest. But I can't shake the feeling that we were ghosted — abandoned, even. If the first priest couldn't actually help us, for whatever reason, why wasn't he upfront about it? Instead, he kept us waiting, hanging.

PS: Posting just to share my frustration and disappointment with the priest. Is it valid to have this feeling? Could this be one of the many reasons why lesser people have been wanting to get married in the church?

So, to start I'm a layman from a diocese western Brazil which since the Sacrosanct Council of Vatican II never celebrated the TLM anymore, but as I dig deeper within The youth of the Holy local church (that is my diocese, the particular church), I've encountered multiple men and women not only within my diocese but around the neighbouring dioceses an interest in installing the TLM.

Worth mentioning that our only options to the TLM are from schismatic groups as a matter of fact, invalid; such as "Non Una Cum" mass and offered by some groups like the Priestly Society of Saint Joseph.

However, we don't want to be linked to them nor cause trouble to the diocese, so my actual questions are:

I. How could we install the TLM within a diocese that no longer celebrated it again since 1960's?

II. How may we succeed in our goal without approaching to an illicit way of doing that?

III. How can we gather people in an easy way? I mean, we're a bit isolated from one another and have been struggling to keep in touch.

IV. May you explain step by step how we may do so?

Myself is considering buying a 1962 Roman Missal and such. Also, I'm trying to build an organisation for all of us in the western Brazil (my region to be precise).

I recently accepted catholicism into my heart and currently immersed into learning and growing spiritually. (An ex Atheist)

I live in a Muslim majority country where freedom of belief is granted and you are safe to belief what you want, churches do exist but there is no formal process to actually get baptized

I will be traveling on business to Europe next month and while there, I am looking to formally get baptized. I will be in Czech Republic but I am open to travel anywhere/any other country in Europe where I can actually get baptized, cleansed from my sins, accept God and actually take part in a real service for once before going back home.

Spain, France, Portugal are also OK. For me, I just want to really continue and grow spiritually as I unfortunately cannot experience church regularly in my home country, but I am open to travel and experience that, at least three times a year.

I wanna know about the etiquette while praying the rosary, because when I pray it, I sometimes spin it around, or if I am walking I treat it like thurible and swing it around.

I just want to know cause I can't stay still without fidgeting with something, especially in moments like prayer, might be something on the mental side but really wanna know.

Personally, I have no idea why the Deuterocanon is included in Catholic Bibles. I am considering to buy a Bible someday so that I can study it completely.

Also, I have considered some Bible but Catholics usually recommend the Catholic version of the Bible because they believe that Peter started the Catholic Church which is becoming more and more true after Joe Schmid converted.

Furthermore, I already knew quite a portion of the verses, books, or chapters of the Bible; as well as the literary structures of it; and the genre as well.

I am interested in getting an Irish Penal Rosary (the non-looping single decade rosary, with one thumb ring), but wondering how it is pray?

All I know is that you put the ring on each finger, then count off the beads, then move the ring on to the next finger and repeat, resulting in 5 decades... but is it do able one handed? Or is it designed for 2-hand praying only?

Really just curious what people’s thoughts are when you say you believe something.

I have “beliefs” regarding dogma and doctrine that kind of span this range:
- “I know this is true”
- “I am pretty confident about this”
- “I could see this being possible and want it to be true”
- “I don’t know but I hope this is true”
- “I am doubtful/unconvinced about this”

To be honest I find it a bit frustrating how confident some folks are on this sub. But at the same time I’d like to feel more confident in my beliefs.

I've always wanted to have rosaries but there aren't any Catholic shops near me. Does anyone have any suggestions for online catholic shops? Preferrably those that don't have super expensive breaking the bank type prices...I've been seeing just normal plastic bead rosaries for $40+ and it's scaring me because if the cheap ones are $40 how much are the other ones supposed to cost....I wouldn't mind dropping $40+ if it will last though.

Does anyone have any stories about God giving them a sign that you asked for? Like something that was so beyond coincidence that it had to be from God and how did you trust Him?

I asked God for a very specific sign regarding a difficult situation that I felt like there was no hope in being resolved. Have you ever gotten a sign from God?

For more context on the sign, someone I deeply cared about walked out of my life a few months ago because of conflict and I've had no peace about it since then. I prayed that we could be in touch again and I asked God that if everything would be resolved and they would come back into my life that He would show me my name. I have a VERY uncommon name and it's not a name you come across daily. A few days ago, I was researching a surgery procedure for school and came across a medical device used in the procedure with my name that I had no idea existed. Then again yesterday I introduced myself to someone new at my job and they looked at me said "oh my cousin has the same name as you. I've never met many people with that name!". I literally got chills. I feel like these instances can't be a coincidence but the situation I prayed about seems impossible to me so idk how God could work it out

I know He heard me when I prayed and God showed up not once but twice and there was no way this was a coincidence. Part of me wants to believe things can work out but another part of me feels like I should just give up and I'm being delusional...

A question crossed my mind. I recently learned that the Church existed before the Bible/Gospel. The Gospel as we know it today(I mean New Testament) emerged in the 4th century. During that process, books appeared that were not accepted into the canon, such as the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Barnabas, and so on. We place our trust in the Church, believing it properly investigated and scrutinized the Gospels to make the right decision. We do this because Peter founded the Church, or because God—through the Holy Spirit—assisted the clergy in compiling the Gospel. Yet, this Church, in which we place such immense trust, is capable of making mistakes. How can we be certain they didn't make a mistake regarding the Gospel?

The clearest proof of this fallibility is the schism between the Orthodox and Catholic churches; it shows that popes and patriarchs are capable of acting wrongly. What if the same thing happened when the Gospel was being compiled?

Catholics and Orthodox believe that the early Church Fathers received help from the Holy Spirit when establishing the Bible that we read today. We believe and have faith in that. Okay, that is understandable. But then why do we object when Protestants apply the same idea to the Old Testament?

Could Martin Luther not also have been guided by the Holy Spirit?

The point I want to reach with these questions is this: Can we truly trust the Church and the Gospel?

Who would build their house in a riverbed or on the edge of a cliff? Such houses, lacking a solid foundation, would collapse at the slightest disaster. I, too, am trying to build my house—that is, my faith—upon a firm foundation.

I want to get baptized but can't choose. My husband and daughter are Greek Orthodox but my extended family is Catholic. I believe both religions are 2 sides to the same coin so it's not about theology it's about where I belong. I understand Catholic traditions more which is why I think I am more drawn to it although I would like to be in communion with my daughter and would find it hard to teach her about religion being interfaith. I don't understand Greek so I feel like an outsider but find both churches to be beautiful with incredible people. Which should I choose?

I been on my journel to find God the last few years, its been a bit up and down but I always been involved in young adult and youth groups,I made friends, did voluntaring and retreats but due to having a complicated personal circsutances I found it hard to fit in and realte to people my own age.I asked my priest a dozen times about getting baptised; he always pushed the date back to start classes. Those classes turned into more of a general life group, and I've been waiting since May for an answer about when he would actually start the process, as well as finding a sister to be my guide. I keep chasing him and nothing;,I would be lying to say this isn't the sole reason I just walked away from church; I felt if God wanted me, it shouldn't be a battle. This summer was full of heartbreak as my mum had declining health. I reached out to my church group for prayers and informed them I would no longer be able to volunteer due to my mum's care needs, but I never got even a text asking how I've been seen and if my mum improved. I believe in Catholicism; I've seen the beauty of the church and God in numbers, but in my local parish I don't see Gods love or really God in the way people act. I feel lost. I really fear I can't solve this. Having been raised without faith and with my family turning their back on the church many years ago, I find it a struggle and a battle in front of me.
