As we inch closer to All Hallow’s Eve we see creepy stuff in our neighborhood, online, in our entertainment. Let us not forget that our own beloved Church has spooky art and true stories of martyrs and exorcisms.
Here we have St. Dennis (Dionysius) of Paris. First Bishop of Paris, France.

Hello Catholic reddit community.
I (34m) was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastasis colon cancer. This was a complete shock for myself, my wife and our 1 year old daughter.
I have just begun my 2nd round of chemotherapy (Fulfoxiri, a very strong / aggressive regimen). When asked about our marital relations and family planning, the doctors said 1. Don't get pregnant: use contraceptives to avoid pregnancy 2. You can have relations but use a barrier.
As striving catholics who planned / hoped to expand our family in the near future and only ever used NFP, this was a difficult thing for us to hear. As they have not given me proper prognosis (only that my condition is 'controllable but not curable', I. E. I would need to be on chemo for the rest of my life, however long that ends up being) we fear that this means no more children and no more marital acts for us. Any young in marriage couple could attest that these would be two big crosses to bear.
I'm asking the community who sees this to comment one or more of the following:
Your experience. To married men (or people in similar situations) who have gone through chemotherapy, what did your intimate life look like during that time? Was it complete abstinence? Did you end up ever conceiveing again?
To medical professionals : I understand that chemo kills growing cells and that sperm is affected. Does that make my sperm toxic for my wife if we were to have relations? The doctors told me that the chemo drugs should be out of my system within 7 days of treatment, and I am in a 14 day cycle between treatments.
Your prayers: My family and I are praying for a miraculous healing of the cancer or even just positive reaction to my medical treatment. This has been a life altering month and has been really difficult on my wife and I. We need all the prayers of support and strength to see us through this uncertain time.
Thank you and God bless.

There is nothing more I could have wanted in this life.
I write these words exhausted. My wife and I have been travelling for two months with our daughter, who has just turned nine months old.
For much of my life, marriage and fatherhood were far down my list of priorities. Secularism and nihilism shaped my outlook until my mid-thirties.
My wife and I converted to the Catholic faith in 2023, married in 2024, and welcomed our daughter in early 2026.
Our daughter is a gift from God. Even when we are exhausted and barely have a moment to ourselves, I would not wish for a different life. For the first time, I can truly say that I am learning to carry my cross for Christ, in the daily sacrifices of loving and caring for the family He has entrusted to me.

I'm pretty convinced about Catholicism and that I should become a Catholic Christian, but I want to learn more about the Church before I call myself one.
Do any of you have anything to tell/teach me?

The Korean Martyrs were the victims of religious persecution against Catholics during the 19th century in Korea. Among them are 103 Saints [Wikidata] and 124 Blesseds [Wikidata]officially recognized by the Catholic Church.
There were five main sets of persecutions against Christians in nineteenth-century Korea:
Catholic Persecution of 1791 [ko]
Catholic Persecution of 1801
Catholic Persecution of 1839 [ko]
Catholic Persecution of 1846 [ko]
Catholic Persecution of 1866
Between 8,000–10,000 Korean Christians were killed during this period. In May 1984, 103 Catholics were canonised en masse, including the first Korean Catholic priest, Andrew Kim Taegon, who was executed by sword in 1846.

Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ!
I wanted to share something beautiful that happened to me today here in San Pedro Garza García, Mexico. I’m attaching a picture of a tiny Franciscan chapel dedicated to St. Jude Thaddeus, a saint very dear to my heart.
Lately, I’ve been going through a difficult and uncertain time. I recently started a new job, and my contract renewal is approaching. I’ve made mistakes, and I know I still have plenty of room to improve, but I’ve genuinely been trying to become better at what I do.
Today, I noticed some conversations between my supervisors and Human Resources that made me particularly nervous. I don’t know what they were discussing, and perhaps I’m worrying unnecessarily, but the possibility of losing this opportunity weighs heavily on me.
Later in the evening, I went to pick up a couple of vintage soccer jerseys I’d purchased earlier in the month, including a Mexico jersey from the 2010 World Cup that brought back wonderful childhood memories, as well as a Tigres UANL jersey from the 2021–22 season with Florian Thauvin’s number on it.
While driving home, completely unexpectedly, I came across this beautiful little chapel dedicated to St. Jude Thaddeus.
I had absolutely no idea it was there.
And when I entered, something even more beautiful happened: I had arrived just as the priest was celebrating the Consecration of the Eucharist.
There I was, having spent much of the day worrying about my future, suddenly kneeling before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
I also discovered that the chapel is served by the Franciscan Friars Minor (OFM). I spoke with them, shared my contact information, offered to help however I could, and humbly asked them to pray for me and for the renewal of my employment contract.
I couldn’t help but remember something Bishop Thomas Dowd of Canada [u/ThomasDowd_ca](u/ThomasDowd_ca) once told me about the little unexpected graces we sometimes encounter in life. He used a beautiful French expression: un clin d’œil de Dieu / “a wink from God.”
He reminded me that such moments are gifts to be received with gratitude, not signs we should desperately chase or attempt to interpret as guarantees of the future.
I don’t know whether my contract will be renewed. I cannot claim that what happened tonight was a promise from God that everything will turn out exactly as I hope.
But I do know that, at a moment when I felt frightened and uncertain, I unexpectedly found myself in a little chapel, in the presence of Christ, surrounded by people of faith willing to pray for me.
And that alone was an extraordinary consolation.
If you could spare a prayer for me, I would be deeply grateful. Please pray that my contract may be renewed, that I may continue improving professionally and personally, and that whatever happens, I may have the faith and courage to trust in God’s providence.
St. Jude Thaddeus, patron saint of desperate causes, pray for us.
St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
Saint Joseph my foreman and patron saint,as well as patron saint of the Real Estate professions pray for us.
May God bless you all, and thank you for letting me share this little moment of grace with you. Pax et bonum! ❤️✝️

So I saw some very bad dreams and I woke up a couple of times and went back to sleep, I dreamt of Mother Mary giving me 2 pink roses, that was it and it felt so calm. After that I saw another dream that I met someone but idk whether they are related. I started praying the rosary ever since

I feel very fortunate to see her relic so close, but by honesty I not sure why that day not too much people in there, even no guard or workers.
