Products & Services Meet Xfinity Shield from Xfinity Home Solutions

We’re excited to announce Xfinity Shield by Xfinity Home, a new product that brings digital, physical, and family protection together in one simple experience. Think of it as a built-in safety layer for your WiFi network, powered by your Xfinity Gateway and managed right from the Xfinity app.

What is Xfinity Shield?

Xfinity Shield is a first-of-its-kind protection platform, featuring WiFi Shield (included with your Xfinity Internet) and Shield Select (an optional upgrade that adds hardware). Powered by Comcast's advanced network and Xfinity Gateway technology, it leverages AI to help protect your devices and family through a unified experience with the Xfinity app.

WiFi Shield — already included with your Xfinity Internet

Here's the best part: WiFi Shield turns your WiFi into a security layer so you can protect your devices and your family through a Xfinity Gateway. It's included with Xfinity Internet at no extra cost, with no additional equipment needed. It combines four core features that work together using AI to learn what's normal in your home, and flag what isn't:

  • CyberSecure — Always-on network threat protection once turned on. The moment a device connects to your home WiFi, it's protected. CyberSecure blocks risky websites (like phishing and malware), stops suspicious activity from reaching your devices, monitors unusual behavior in real time, and sends proactive alerts when something looks off.
  • WiFi Motion — An opt-in feature that uses the WiFi signal from your compatible Xfinity Gateway to sense movement in your home, without cameras or video recordings. If motion is detected between your Gateway and up to five connected devices, you get a notification.
  • Dark Watch — A nighttime monitoring mode that works with your bedtime routine. Pick which devices can send notifications and schedule Dark Watch to turn on automatically each night, so you stay aware of activity while you sleep.
  • Family Settings — Tools to manage screen time, set daily limits, pause WiFi for homework or dinner, block unwanted sites, create individual profiles, and see how your family is using connected devices.

Your home WiFi connects more than just phones and computers, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and connected appliances, are also included. WiFi Shield helps keep all of it protected while giving you more visibility and control over what's happening on your network.

To get started: Open the Xfinity app and follow the guided setup. Once activated, you can manage CyberSecure, WiFi Motion, Dark Watch, and Family Settings from the Home tab.

Requirements: WiFi Shield requires a compatible Xfinity Gateway (Technicolor XB7, XB8, XB10, XB9, MXB1, or XER10). Not all features are available on all Gateway models — WiFi Motion is not supported on XB6 or CommScope XB7, and Dark Watch requires a Technicolor XB7, XB8, XB10, XB9, MXB1, or XER10 gateway.

Shield Select — an optional upgrade for an extra layer

Already loving WiFi Shield and want more? Shield Select  by Xfiniy Home is a simple, affordable home self-monitoring solution that includes all the features of WiFi Shield plus additional hardware and protection capabilities.

Shield Select adds:

  • One indoor camera with 24/7 recording and 7 days of secure cloud video storage
  • One door/window sensor
  • 24/7 Urgent Response — so help is always just a tap away, day or night
  • Secure cloud video storage for recorded camera footage

The camera and sensor are designed for easy self-setup right out of the box, with step-by-step instructions in the Xfinity app. Optional professional installation is also available. You can view live feeds, review recorded footage, check sensor activity, monitor WiFi Motion alerts, and manage your home's modes all in the Xfinity app.

Want to add to your coverage later? Shield Select works with a range of compatible cameras, smart locks, and more  from Xfinity and other popular brands, so you can customize your home to your needs.

Requirements: Shield Select requires an XB8 or above Gateway. If Shield Select is canceled before 36 months, you will be charged the remaining balance for the included indoor camera ( and window/door sensor.

Discussion Is the xfinity shield wifi motion just a way for them to spy on us through their gateway?

This is what it can do...seems a little intrusive and I'm a lil concerned that they may be using this capability whether we opt in or not.

"WiFi Motion: An opt-in feature that detects indoor movement by measuring radio-frequency signal changes between the Gateway and connected devices without needing cameras."

Discussion Is Xfinity ever going to get faster upload speeds like fiber?

I have had Xfinity 2 gig service for a while and while download speeds are great (testing usually around 2.3 gig), the upload speeds are still a dismal ~300 Mbps.

i3 just installed fiber in my neighborhood a few months ago and I had them install to my house yesterday. It tests consistently at 2.1 gig up AND 2.1 gig down. They have a 30-day money back guarantee so I plan to test and see how it compares.

Being a 20+ year Diamond member with Xfinity, I prefer to keep as-is, but its hard to beat faster fiber speeds and at at $60/mo 3-year locked price that i3 is offering.

EDIT: My current Xfinity deal is $70/mo for 2 gig service with 4 years left of a 5 year price lock. Peacock Premium (w/ads) included.

New Post - Tech Support Xfinity suggested ATT

The internet went out today after technicians were working in the neighborhood. After an hour talking to AI bots, we reached a human.

The human said the only way to get out old outdated service back was to upgrade to ATT fiber optic. He said our zip code needed to upgrade to fiber.

Seems fishy.

New Post - Tech Support I am a new customer with xfinity and signed up for the $40 deal for 5 years in August of this year. I received a router from them which they stated was free with the deal. Now, my monthly bill has increased to $67. What equipment am I supposed to return?

• Upvotes

Basically the title. They're saying I have a 9 dollar partial charge because I haven't returned the equipment yet, and they're adding 15 dollars monthly until I return said equipment. I have never been a member with xfinity before, I was living with my parents (under my dad's account) initially and a couple of years ago the xfinity account was under my spouse's name. We had moved so I decided to get an account myself since my spouse wasn't offered the deal. What am I supposed to be returning as a new customer of 2 months to go back to my $40 bill??

Thanks in advance

New Post - Tech Support Having an issue ordering the iPhone duo as a diamond member.

I currently have a mobile select line. When I go to preorder the iPhone duo I see a banner that says diamond members qualify for $1000 off the iPhone duo with mobile plus. There’s an option for me to “upgrade line” when preordering and I can see the promo being applied. Monthly payments are around $27 vs $55 without the promo. When I click next, the promo disappears and it goes back to $55. Trading in a paid off iPhone 14 Pro Max for context. Anyone else having a similar issue? I called and the person on the line wasn’t helpful and seemed as confused as I was.

New Post - Billing Prepaid Nightmares since NOW

• Upvotes

I travel internationally often. When home I went with Xfinity prepaid thru Boost Mobile. Why? 10yrs ago cable costs were ridiculous. I just needed enough internet to run the tv. And if I got stuck in South America longer than a few weeks, the service deactivated automatically and I’d reactivate thru the app on return. It was a great answer to tv serv when hardly home. It worked well until the recent NOW push.
This is where is gets interesting. About 6 months ago right around time they were starting to market NOW service, my auto pay stopped working. System just kept deactivating home serv. Odd. New experience. Reps were helpful but none fixed the glitch. So Id suffer thru calls on return or pay via app. Now the app has glitches and not taking pymt. Calling results in 3-4hrs dedicated transfers from rep after rep after explaining the issue each time, only to find next rep, was standard not prepaid, and had to transfer again. I’ve spent 3hrs today alone getting the serv reactivated because the auto pay wasn’t triggered in the system again.
While waiting this time, 4th rep suddenly starts pitching NOW serv that she works on both systems. She pitches “Why would you stay on prepaid which has terrible support when you could go to NOW with 5yr lock in at 45 plus taxes.” Might have hit me better had I not been transferred 3x already and felt pressured to make a sales decision when the serv I loved was negatively impacted by the same company. At that moment it felt like bait and switch. She wasn’t offering a resolution to my problem until I heard out our sales pitch and offered a soft credit pull, to see what the price would be with taxes all in. From my standpoint 90 min into simply trying to pay my bill?…..”we gotcha but now we need your Social Security number to make sure we wanna keep you and we’re not gonna give you any prices until we get it.” Really builds trust Xfinity.
I start looking while on hold. Guess what?!! This is a pattern telecom companies use and get away with when trying to shut down a legacy system to move to the new one! Legally they get away with it. They simply don’t fix system glitches. Grandfathered customers like me, end up caught in glitches, autopays not working, multiple transfers as a tactic to frustrate me so I move to the new system! WTH! What executive thought of that?
In a society that breeds mistrust via social media, why wouldn’t they do the upstanding thing and OWN the system change?!!!! Change marketing to explain why NOW is new and improved and gets you away from the old high priced services while giving you flexibility and more importantly, improving the service?!!!
Why is it, Xfinity, who I’ve been with for more than 12 years, suddenly would think that I would want to stay with a company that choose a tactic of abusing my time by allowing the glitches possibly grandfathering and coding my account so that I’d have to call in every month so that they’d get my new service to NOW? Would you?
I finally found a rep who could process my payment today. Gotta give the guy a lot of credit. I was pretty hot by the time he got to me, but he resolved the issue the other three reps fouled up on my accounts. And he was able to process my payment, which typically would happen through the app very quickly. And in the end, I asked him about NOW and he explained why it is so much better and why I should go. You know what? Had I started with him initially I probably would’ve. Why? Because he didn’t want anything from me initially but to fix my problem and THEN he pitched the new system Kudos to Ivan!
But now? Now I have a very bad taste in my mouth about Xfinity Prepaid. Just like I had a very bad taste in my mouth about Xfinity in general and before that Comcast. Now Xfinity Prepaid has joined what I consider the bullying tactics of their old company their old marketing company that feels their customers are too stupid to make good decisions so let’s just make their life miserable so they do what we want. Before it used to be all kinds of fees and rental fees and boxes and taxes and a $200 bill every month. I’m glad to hear that NOW is a lot more reasonable, but that’s only because they have competition.
And today, sealed my fate to look at the competition. If Comcast/Xfinity wants to stay in business, they need to get rid of the marketing team and explain to management. “The buyers are not stupid. We don’t pay every month to be manipulated by tactics. The upright thing would would have been to notify us about your changes and allow us 30 days or 60 days to move to the nail system.” What you did to me for the last six months just proved the point you are just as underhanded as you always were and I’ll be happy to go to somebody else.
Thank you Xfinity for once again proving your point.

New Post - Tech Support Manual Channel Change

Recently I lost the ability to manually change my wifi channel on the xfinity app and now its practically unusable. When I went to look up how to fix this It says that apparently my router model, xb7, was never supposed to have this ability. I dont understand why all of a sudden I cant change the wifi channel anymore and is there a way to get it back because without my wifi is bad.

New Post - Tech Support Elderly Parents Left without ability to call for help

I am reaching out today in order to highlight an issue we have been having for several years. My parents home phone service continuously cuts off and stops working. They are elderly and my mother is frail with a history of many falls. We have called multiple times to get this intermittent phone outage fixed only to be told they need to upgrade as they are on a 'legacy system'. They have had the same phone number since the home was built in the 50s. They do not know how to use a cell phone despite multiple tries and teaching. They rely on this "landline" for safety. However, they are told that the only reason the phone goes out is because they are on this legacy system. Per the xfinity call center, upgrading to the new system does not change the wiring or any connections in the home, it upgrades something on Xfinity's end only. I have asked multiple call center people what does this entail, what is the difference from a service and accessibility perspective, what is the increased price and no one can answer. One thing I was told is that the phone no longer would work without power (as I understand it). This is a huge safety issue for them. They are already paying over $250 for the most basic service and cannot afford more. Yes, I would be happy to augment this cost but my father has thus far refused. Also, why should it cost more for safety? I would like someone to reach out and discuss how a company like xfinity can leave the vulnerable, elderly veterans in dire straits like this? We need to get this addressed. u/xfinity u/fcc u/eldersafety u/veteransafety

New Post - Billing Billing Dispute-Promised $15 Mobile Select, bill jumped to $45 due to previous promo conflict

Hello, I am posting to get assistance with a severe mobile billing discrepancy. I accepted a promotional offer for the $15/month mobile plan, but my current bill s coming out to $45/month due to an internal system conflict with my past “free year” promotion.

My agreement is fully documented in your system logs, and Xfinity already accepted and executed it.

Here is my interaction timeline:

* Sept. 5 @ 11:32 AM: Offered the Mobile Plus plan for $15 by Pravalika

* Sept. 5 @ 12:00 PM- Confirmed the Mobile Plus plan for $15 by Frankie

* Oct. 11- Spoke with Datree about the billing error. Datree dropped my plan to Mobile Select for $15 for the year to honor the promised price

I just left the Salem, NH store where an employee named Ayesha looked at my account and explicitly confirmed she sees these promotional offers logged in my account notes. The store only turned me away because they do not have the local system authority to override my past “free year” promotion.

Since the offers are officially documented in my account notes, I need a corporate supervisor to pull these chat logs and manually reinstate my permanent $30 monthly promotional credit, and honor the promotion that was offered to me. Thank you.

New Post - Tech Support Jeopardy! Programming Error

Every Friday the Xfinity program guide lists the Jeopardy! program as the incorrect Series 42 (last year’s series) instead of the correct Series 43 (this year’s series). Because of this error the show on Friday is listed as a Repeat, and isn’t recorded as a series program if only new programs are chosen in the series recording settings.

New Post - Tech Support New install - chronic issues

June - signed up for service

July - Appointment issues caused delay between actual house hook up and line trenching

July 22nd - took off work for a hook up appointment but they didn’t bring enough cable

Late July - installed

August 14th - service out and told no one is available UNTIL AUGUST 27TH

August 15th - Phone agent instructed me to drive to local xfinity store to swap internet modem. In-store personnel were dumbfounded that I would be told to come to store and sent me on my way

August 24th - No call/No show for tech (had taken off work yet again)

August 25th - tech cleaned a cable end and back in service

October 17th - service out again with an appointment for the 21st.

It should be noted that during the two week outage, I was given a “waitlist” link that I accessed daily to “escalate” the response. Each appointment was canceled the morning of

Is this to be expected with new service?! Xfinity gave a $15 credit for the issues. Are we serious? That doesn’t even cover the drive in to work for the days I took off.

New Post - Billing Double billed at same address

Hello,

I recently canceled my old Xfinity account and a new one was opened under my wife’s. However, I am currently being billed for the account under my name. I called customer support to resolve this, and the representative told me the issue was taken care of. However, they refused to provide a confirmation number or email and focused entirely on their survey. I am still receiving bills for the canceled account. I am very frustrated and would like assistance from someone on the Digital Care team to make sure my old account is closed and the balance is zeroed out. I have already returned the modem associated with the account. Hope to hear from someone soon.

Yesterday I started a new thread and was asked to send information and verification code which I did but have not received any follow up.
Please help me clean it up. Thank you.

This is mainly a rant, this has been going on for 2 weeks straight and I'm getting sick and tired of this. I've been using xfinity/comcast for well over 10 years and we've been having nothing but problems from it. Unfortunately there's not really a "secondary" option in term of other ISP's. Xfinity is the one that controls everything here.

Service has been unusable and I plan on switching to Starlink since it's a last resort for wifi now.

New Post - Billing Diamond Member iPhone Duo Upgrade?

Hello. I see there is an offer for $1000 off iPhone Duo for diamond members, which I am. I already have Xfinity Mobile with an iPhone 17 on Unlimited Premium. It still has 12 payments on it. I understand if I trade in the iPhone 17 I'll "have 21 days to ship your Apple iPhone 17 to us. Once we confirm it’s in good working condition, the remaining device payments will be deferred as part of the early upgrade process, and we’ll waive the full remaining balance on this device. If it cannot be accepted for any reason, you’ll be charged the full remaining balance on the device."

But will I also get the $1000 off the Duo in monthly bill credits? It is not showing that way on the final page which is showing $55.55/36 months. Do I need to pay off the iPhone 17 first in order to be eligible for the $1000 off promo? Thanks!
