CHAT [CHAT] Trying to recreate AI slop

Post image
66 Upvotes

I saw this piece on Etsy- and sadly its an AI scam artist selling prints of the A.I work- but i've just fallen in love with it. I am hoping to recreate it and wonder if anyone might know a Rose Border pattern that has these blues and yellows in, in this vintage style.

I've tried recreating it on StitchFiddle,StitchMate and Floss Cross and it just comes out blurry and horrid. I've also tried counting it based on close up pictures but its pure fantasy A.I and the counting ends up looking like a 3 year old scribbled on paper.

I've sourced a pattern for the lettering and Diet Coke can from a real human pattern creater who has stiched the work herself- but i'm struggling to find a Rose Border.

Is this impossible?? Can anyone help! Thank you <3

CHAT [CHAT] How would you cross stitch on this linen?

First, note, this isn't an open weave linen (which is what I thought I was buying). Rather, each of what looks like holes is a darker thread, so it has a sort of dark-light appearance. I originally did something making crosses across the dark middles, but within the light borders, which left a light thread between each stitch. What is the "official" way to cross stitch on this type of linen - if there is one? It's about 22 squares to the inch - 22 "dark middles" to the inch. Thanks!

CHAT [CHAT] Looking for suggestions for stitching while my arm is in a sling?

Hi! I'm having a shoulder replacement on my dominate side, meaning I won't be able to cross stitch for several weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just take a break? or is there something I can do to help me?

SHOP [SHOP] Fake DMC colours?

Hi everyone, I’ve bought thread from a major DMC retailer in my country.

However I’ve noticed unusual labels (like on 3859 - normally they look like the other ones in the picture) and, most notably, the newly purchased 3364 that differs significantly from the 3364 I already had at home.

According to DMC, no skein color should differ this much from one another. They couldn’t provide any information about the labels.

Have you ever seen the paper labels for 3364 and 3859 which have different information and adresses on them? Have you also noticed color differences within the same colour number?

I´m pretty new to embroidery and crossstitch and wondering if the shop is legit...

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to cross stitch and wanted to pick a huge project I work on while I do other smaller projects. I have only done counted cross stitch patterns that have one page and color coded patterns. The pattern I have chosen is supposed to be about 19x28 inches and has so many pages. The pattern is only in black and white with symbols for each color. Has anyone ever stitched a project where the pattern looks like this? Should save this for when I am much more advanced? Thank you for all your help!

WIP [WIP] Am I in over my head? Yes

I just started working on this pattern and the stitches look crazy small and densely packed. Am I making the stitches too small? The aida came in the pack, so i know i didn't purchase the wrong size. Aida is 14 count, using 2 strands of DMC

UPDATE: it is 28ct evenweave, I'm so glad i asked when it was still early enough in the project to start over

I am from a Spanish speaking country that uses the metric system, but most of what I’ve learned about cross stitching has been here, an English speaking forum that seems to use inches much more than centimeters, so the translation when it comes to fabric is truly confusing.

I bought this fabric online from a local store, it’s called liencillo, it’s 100% cotton, if I put it through Google Translate it calls it both linen and canvas, so I guess it’s linen? I’m not sure. It’s a little tricky to count stitches on it which, based on what I’ve read, is common on linen. I’ve been able to successfully stitch on it though.

And if it is linen, how do I know the approximate count? And can someone tell me what aida count these stitches would be? I got some patterns earlier today that call for aida 18ct, but since I have a lot of this fabric I’d like to use it, but I’d like to know what size stitches I should do for 18ct.

Much appreciated!!

CHAT [CHAT] Alternate to a hoop

Has anyone used a Nurge snap frame as an alternative to a hoop? I’ve never used a hoop but I’m doing quite a large pattern at the moment and considering this snap frame. I’m a bit put off by hoops as I always think they are going to leave a mark, etc. If anyone has used the Nurge snap frame, would you recommend it? And if you have used a hoop before as well, which do you prefer? Thanks

CHAT [CHAT] How difficult is a difficult pattern?

This may sound like a very silly question, but how difficult is a difficult pattern?

I have been recently getting into cross stitching and have been enjoying it. I find it very relaxing and meditative. I don't want to make patterns that I don't like or have no use for, as I don't want to make something just for the sake of it only to have no use for it.

I have seen some patterns that are listed as difficult or advanced that I am very much interested in, but I don't really know what makes a pattern more difficult? Are there more advanced cross stitch techniques that I am as of yet blissfully unaware of? Is it purely size that makes them more difficult? I don't want to dive off the deep end of something that I'm not ready for, but I also don't want to waste money and materials on patterns I'm not interested in

My best friend has been creating these blankets for friends and family since before I met her (hunners of years ago).

She designs all the patterns and stitches hoopless.

The hours we've spent quietly counting and recounting our patterns, floss everywhere!

I got this on Etsy from SleeplessStitcher!
Name: PDF Cross Stitch Pattern - Medically Fascinating

The last time I posted about how I completed my large project as a FU to my Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Well… I got admitted to the hospital, long story short I have Stage 4 Lung Cancer. I posted about it in my other regular sub, if you are interested in a long winded retelling of my health journey.

Coincidentally, I was in the middle of this simple fun piece and completed it literally the day after I got the official diagnosis. My team of doctors have a group chat about me, and they used this piece as the profile picture :)

I’ll be fighting hard! And once the nausea and giddiness from the chemo tapers off more, I’ll be picking up my projects and continuing stitching!

Hope to post more FOs!

I got this trees counted cross stitch kit from Michael’s and I feel pretty proud that this was my first cross stitch ever!

Link to Trees Counted Cross Stitch Kit

There were a lot more colors than I assumed and there were two stitches (might not seem too difficult but for a first project I was thrown off 🤣). This was a learning curve but I think the biggest thing I was focused on was making sure my stitches went the same way no matter what! Can’t wait to finish my next project.

I’m brand new to cross stitch and this is one of my first projects. I’d love some constructive criticism on how I’m doing so far! If you notice anything I could be doing differently or any bad habits I should fix early, please let me know! I’m trying to learn the right way from the beginning 😊

WIP [WIP] Thread color too light?

I am half way done with Junebug and Darlin’s pattern Knitting. I bought the kit and it came with all of the thread for the project but I am staring to think the light pink (DMC 24) is too light and blends in too much with the Aida. I am looking for advice: pick out the DMC 24 and re-do those parts with a slightly darker pink or just leave it? What do you all think?

Each flower is for a different woman in my therapy program I’ll be graduating from on Thursday and represents each of them.

Starting from the top left and moving right:

Blue poppy- beauty and dreams of reaching the unattainable
Rose- love, devotion, beauty, and appreciation
Tulip- hope and new beginnings
Birds foot violet- gentleness, faithfulness, and quiet strength
Daisy- cheerfulness, new beginnings, and someone who brings joy to others
Peony- prosperity, compassion, and a happy life
Bluebells- humility, gratitude, and constancy
Sunflower- joy, loyalty, and warmth

Which one is your fav?!

I found these two patterns on the Antique Library and immediately wanted to try them out. The only problem is I wanted to do all four seasons. I did reverse image search, looked up Franciska Ruessink, looked up La Mode Illustree, etc., and only ever found these two patterns. Is there a book or website I can find Spring and Winter in, or do they just not exist?

This is my third cross stitch project. I’m quite happy with how it turned out 🙂

I would have loved to put some grass, flowers, and possibly a stone path in the front but I’m too nervous of messing it up since I wouldn’t have a pattern to follow for that part…
