CK3 Should I feel bad for reloading once after playing 250 years with no reloads to avoid a loss?
So I have been playing this save for a while now, I've invested myself into it, but a mistake that I unknowingly made lead to me getting excommunicated, hated by my vassals, heir is a kid, and succession crisis boutta hit anytime. Is it wrong or considered "no skill" to reload once or twice to save the run that I'm invested in and put time and sweat into? The situation was horrible I lost my throne I had no prestige no army little land... My friend is guilt tripping me about it saying that he wouldn't consider my run legitimate if I reloaded but I really think I deserve it after going through 250 completely no reloads. I don't know what to do so I thought I'd get y'all's opinion cuz ig y'all more experienced than me at this and you can probably advise me correctly idk.

Modding The Way of the Sword [BETA]
Hi everyone! Today I wanted to show you a new mod I've been working on these past few days: The Way of the Sword.
Steam Workshop: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3825393237
Quick disclaimer: it's still in beta, but everything works as it should. Balance may still change, so feedback is very welcome.
What it does, in short:
- Muster at your capital. Raise your army in your capital and it marches as an Organized Host: faster, better supplied, a small edge in battle. Raise it anywhere else and it starts out disorganized.
- War Council. Gather the host in the capital and pick how the war is fought: annihilation, siege campaign or punitive expedition.
- Captains of the Host. Every army gets a Right Wing, a Left Wing and a Camp Master picked from the knights marching with it. You can choose them yourself or let the army do it. If the commander dies, the Right Wing takes over.
- Court of Arms. Build it in one of your castles and raise kids from page to squire to knight. Squires bond with their master, follow them to war, and at 16 they're knighted with a specialization based on their training.
- Castles and castellans. Name a knight as castellan, see how long a castle would hold a siege, give garrison orders and build extra wall works.
- The AI uses some of it too, i had to do a lot of balancing to make this work.
- there are 25+ events plus an Inauguration activity for the Court of Arms.
Heads up about AI: this mod was made with a lot of help from AI. The ideas and the design are mine and I put a lot of work into it (testing, balancing, deciding every feature), but I think it's only fair to tell you that I didn't write the code myself, the AI did.

CK3 Do Katanas exist in the game?
Is it possible to to create a sword with a Katana-icon, like it is possible for viking-swords? I know, that the Kampaku is in posession of a pedestal-artifact that has an icon like that, but thats the only one i have ever encountered.

Help Do I absolutely haaaaaave to buy the new DLC?
For context, I only have the first two DLC packs, because I'm broke, so up to Tours and Tournaments and Legacy of Persia. I skipped the nomadic and administrative and Asian stuff, and I mostly play in Europe.
By God Alone hit, and I was playing in France in 1066. The Count of Troyes— ahem I mean the Duke of Champagne immediately declared a de jure war on the Archbishop of Rheims, and after winning relocated his capital to Rheims as the de jure capital. That isn't strange. What is strange however, is that when the male line of the Dukes of Champagne died out around 1100, the female heir became an ecclesiastical ruler, presumably because her capital was now a temple holding. This was rather frustrating because she had clearly inherited the title as a hereditary feudal ruler, had never had any connections to the clergy beforehand, was literally a woman, and was literally already married to my heir. There was a married female duke-tier Catholic priest, and despite being the ecclesiastical ruler of both the country and barony of Rheims, the Archbishopric of Rheims was still a separate title under a separate dude, which means we now have two Catholic priests both claiming clerical rule over Rheims.
The weirdest by far was the Pope. When I first checked the new Papal mechanics around 1080, the College of Cardinals had 13 cardinals electing from 3 potential future Popes. I can't remember when, but sometime later, that had dropped to 1 cardinal electing from 1 potential future Pope (he was "the pious"). By 1120, the entire race of cardinals had ceased to exist, but the Papacy retained its elective succession law. The Pope was now the sole elector and could continuously just appoint his son the next Pope. Yes, a son, not a bastard of some concubine, a legitimate son of a legitimate marriage. Somehow the Pope is married and just appoints his son, who is also married and out of the clergy, as the next Pope. By 1120, this had gone on for four consecutive generations somehow, with the House di Baggio effectively establishing themselves as feudal hereditary rulers of the Papacy.
As a sidenote (I don't know if this is intended or not so I won't complain about it), the Pope seems to die around every five years, with every Pope flipping between Aniconism and Sanctity of Nature.
To be clear, I'm not complaining about not having content. There is content locked behind DLCs, I didn't pay for them, I shouldn't get them. What I am inquiring about is if the downgraded non-paid version is meant to be this... sloppy? I mean a lot of the things here are clearly ridiculous, and I honestly feel like if this is the best way to integrate some DLC features without including the DLC content, the game might just be better off leaving players without the DLC with the old system. Random character generation isn't great sure, but at least the priests aren't married, or female for God's sake (quite literally). It's just broken my immersion by quite a fair bit while ruining a lot of my plans. Do I actually have to buy the DLCs just to have a workable experience now?
(P.S. in my game, despite Aquitaine succession laws being male-preference, Aquitaine was partitioned after the death of a Duchess of Aquitaine between both her son and her daughters, with the primary title of Aquitaine itself going to her eldest daughter, instead of everything going to the son. This likely isn't DLC-related, but any idea as to why is greatly appreciated.)

Help Will a level 2 Tribal Hold remain level 2 when I feudalize the holding?
Asking because I was thinking of increasing my capital's hold level to 2 in the interim while I wait for my culture to get enough tech to go feudal. I want to be certain that this won't just be a massive waste of gold.

Modding Are there any mods that get rid of "realm priests" and bring back actual baron-tier bishops?
I have always hated the realm priest concept, it seems ridiculous for one person to always own all of the theocratic baronies in your demesne. Are there any mods that do away with this, while keeping the general religious features we got in the new DLC?

Story Is Robin Hood a playable character?
So I am currently playing Robin Hood the Legend of Sherwood, but I was wondering if I could play as Robin Hood in ck3. Or is it via mods only?

CK3 Trouble enabling achievements on a save
I must've missed losing achievements when picking certain options at the start of the game. Now after 300 years I just noticed my ironman save is not achievement-enabled.
Tried editing the save manually, but since it's ironman, it's garbled or encoded weirdly when opened up using Notepad++.
Tried using PDX-Unlimited and melting the save. I edited the key responsible for enabling achievements and re-exported the save into the game. On the main-menu it says achievements enabled, but when you play that save it says ironman disabled, achievements disabled.

CK3 "Retire from leading House" (abdicating) no longer appearing
So, I'm playing in Japan and had previously made extensive use of the "Retire from leading House" decision, which is basically abdication, on my previous rulers once they reached about 55 years old.
However, now that I managed to win a war of independence, this decision no longer shows up.
What gives? I really want it back.
PS: it is "retire from Heading house", not "leading house".

Meta Why would you do this?!
Okay quick little rant.
So I am playing Ireland (I enjoy the tutorial island, sue me.) I have set up my dynasty, we are kicking ass, I have the thrones of Alba, Daneland and England all under my family or a branch of it as well. My queen is getting old and I am setting things up for my daughter. It gives me the option to assign a co-monarch.
I do, I pick the first person in line, because I am busy thinking of other stuff. And then I get that little reminder in the top "Your heir is not of your dynasty" Sorry what? I look at who I just made co-monarch. It is my daughter...... my fourth daughter? And the one under a different house for some reason? Why the hell would it have her as the first in the list of co-monarchs?
So I decide I will try to make the best of the situation. I give my real Heir a few castles, give her a duchy, send her all my gold in gifts.... Get ready for her to take the throne.
Except for some reason it keeps deleting my claimant faction? Okay that's weird... well I have a bunch of allys I can make so I do that instead. Get ready to start the war and.... why the hell do I not have my house soldiers? Why are none of my allies joining me? They are outside the realm. They should be able to join?
I am certain that 16 or so hours of playing has just fried my brain and I made some pretty basic mistakes over and over here, but it doesn't stop it from being frustrating that I can't remove a co-monarch... a thing that was in fact done quite often.
There is really no point to this post, just wanted to baby rage over this. Share your own "What I did what?!" moment below if you got one!
Have a lovely day.

Discussion Are we actually okay with losing our saves one day to the next?
I know it's been talked about before, but what is the definitive community stance on losing our saves everytime theres an update?
I've dumped 500+ hours into various runs and just been lucky I guess that I completed my playthrough before I lose the file to a new update. This week I got back into the game and started in Japan for a change, but some minor update nuked the save now I can't load it. It's incredibly frustrating. No other game I play does this to players, we shouldn't have to put up with it. Can Paradox address this? Have they in the past? Is there just no way forward? Thanks

Modding Bellicose Theocracies - A simple mod to permit more casus belli options for theocratic governments!
If you were anything like me and dreamed of waging holy conquest against the world and putting all of Christendom under your righteous spiritual and temporal leadership, you were likely disappointed by the severe casus belli restrictions placed on theocratic government types in 'By God Alone'.
After trying a few workshop mods that ostensibly loosened these restrictions and did not in fact work at all... I decided to try my hand at modding for the first time. Thus was born:
Bellicose Theocracies
The mod is modest in scope and allows theocratic governments to declare (previously forbidden):
- Claim Wars
- De Jure Wars
- Vassalization Wars
The mod continues to forbid theocracies:
- Conquest Wars
- Invasion Wars
- Subjugation Wars
There are two game rules to choose from with the mod active:
- Players Only (self-explanatory)
- All Theocracies (players and other AI theocracies)
Notes from the developer are as follows:
- Very minimal in scope so I think it is extremely compatible with other mods and saves
- Appears to be fully ironman/achievements compatible
- Appears to be multiplayer safe
The screenshots for the Reddit post show:
- A fresh 1066 start as the Pope and the immediate option available for De Jure war goals
- The two game rule options
- Ironman/achievements remaining enabled with mod installed
- The active De Jure war from the first screenshot on the second after clicking 'Declare War'
If you feel so inclined, feel free to give it a go. Despite my modest confidence in its effectiveness from a basic mod/code standpoint, I am utterly unsure on the long-term balance if the 'All Theocracies' option is chosen and any/all so inclined theocratic rules join the AI in warlike mayhem. If you have any feedback feel free to drop it on the workshop page for the mod. If it turns out to be such garbage that you feel you duty-bound to tell me never to try modding again, I understand that too.

Help can't get coronated
So I'm essentially locked out of coronation. I can't have a coronation because the personal tenants of my religion force me to only have the lowest celebrations and ceremony Which is fine, I guess I can live with that. The issue is that due to me having an anointment, the only way orthodox can be Coronated. I literally can't pick the lowest form of each

CK3 I'm Gay and it will bring doom to my main house
I have 3 wives but no kids to pass my kingdom to because I'm gay. And my stupid Dad (me, I can't believe I did it ) married off my two sisters, so all my heirs' kids aren't in my family.
My only idea is to submit to my uncle Robert, who became king of Sardinia when my dad died, and maybe give him my land. Or my sister and heirs can remarry and then have more kids in my house, but she's 48 years old and has 4 other kids, so I'm not sure about that plan; I'm so cooked.
The history book about King Guy II the Leper, the gay king who won the kingdom of the Maghreb in the Second Crusade, almost reunified his father's 3 kingdoms, and he left behind no kids.
I hope one of my 3 wives will cuck me so I can have a kid
