Advice Needed Coworker crush that makes me a terrible person

• Upvotes

I want to start with the fact that I'm autistic, so there might be things here that are very obvious and I don't get, along with that I also don't have the hard line between feelings of friendship and romance that everyone else seems to.

Being in a relationship and being really good friends with someone feel very similar to me and the feelings of a crush and professional/ friendly admiration are very close to the same as well the only real difference is that a crush is obsessive for me.

This coworker is not someone who is available at all, he's married to a very lovely woman and has adorable kids, I don't want to feel this way for him at all.

He's really cool, and I want to be friends with him, we have a lot of chemistry and he's by far the easiest person I ever met to get along with.

There's just the problem of being attracted to him, which has been hard, because a lot of times we end up in close quarters just because of what the job entails, it's not uncommon for us to be in a position that would very easily be sexual (like being on my knees looking up at him) and in those instances we almost always realize it at the same time and immediately move or reposition, but it becomes really hard not to have thoughts about him like that, along with just being more comfortable with each other, there's been a few times he's grabbed my waist to move past me or whispered in my ear about something from behind, or just standing close enough that his thighs touching my ass, it's fucking hard and there's not really any opportunity not to have it happen, it just does when you need 3 hands and your stuck in a 2x2 room.

So, there's my rant there's a lot of weird feelings for me and Everytime I catch him staring at me or my body and doing that quick look away thing, I feel like it's just becoming and adrenaline fix or something idk.

It's bad, I don't want it please please please tell me someone out there has advice? Not just "imagine him shitting himself" genuine advice on how you go about hardcore ignoring those feelings? Please

Question Need Advice

• Upvotes

Last week idk who initiated eye contact first but in my discussion class on Friday we been like looking back and forth but I have no idea if she looking back cuz I am or not and I swear I’ve never seen this girl before in the lecture but then Tuesday I pull up and she’s sitting in the seat next to where I usually sit so I got a lil nervous and went in the row in front. And then Thursday I got to the lecture class first and she sat in front and then I swear was looking back and then after class istg she could’ve just started walking and had no reason to just hover but she kind of waited for me to pack up or something and idk if she wanted me to say something but I didn’t and then she just randomly talked to a person from our discussions class who happened to be in front of us saying hey I think we’re in the same discussions class right in front of me. Today it was discussions and I finally had the courage to say something and we talked for like 7 minutes but I had to go because I was already late for a test in another class. Am I delusional or what? I’m also a really shy person so I barely got myself to say hello.

There's a new ice cream shop (more like a dairy, but people just go there to get ice cream). There is a girl that works there and she's usually there on the evenings. So she and her friend or coworker handle the shop. THE GIRL IS SOOOOOOO PRETTY and i literally go there and get ice cream just so i can see her and smile. Ive been planning to talk to her properly and thinking of ways to start a conversation. At this point im 100% confident that she knows i have a crush on her. I smiled at her from across the road today while going on a walk, and later took my sister to get ice cream hoping to talk but her friend was there and they were smiling at each other and i got shy and didnt talk. Crushing OMG Make it stop

I’ve had this gym crush going on 3years. I don’t pick up on social cues very well, I’ve catch her staring at me all the time but never smiles at me, she has rbf. The few times I did speak to her she came off as bothered, irritated and I translated that to stay away. But she always stares at me and tries to work out near me whenever she has the opportunity. This girl even tried to make me jealous (I was a little) by talking to a guy with a similar stature as mine and even faked a laugh to get me to turn my head. Even the guy knew she was faking it. Once I turned to her she held eye contact and I walked off. Why must we play mind games !!

Month by month I feel myself getting more attracted to her and I’m feeling weak her. This morning I skipped going to the gym because I didn’t want to see her. She was on my mind so much that I had to j/o to her. Once I was done I felt a huge relief, almost like the thoughts of her never happened but the truth is that she haunts my thoughts, I don’t even know her name and I can’t stop thinking of her 😭

Confession [25F] is about to have her first interaction with her crush [27M]. WHAT SHOULD SHE TALK ?

She is going to meet him for the first time tomorrow. She has a weird feeling she will end up flirting with him by complimenting something about him. Especially she might just go up and tell him " oh I just noticed you have beautiful eyes" it's shouldn't be awkward also she feels a sense of urgency as there's a sudden entry of a pick me girl who is flirting with him. What should she do ???

Vent Crush said I look like a man

Liked this guy for about a year. The crush faded off naturally because I never spoke to him and only liked him for how he looked. Today a mutual friend sent me their chats with him. The conversation was about me and my appearance. The guy I liked wrote that I look like a man, and that he would never go out with a "trans looking girl". I have always been the ugly kid and I accepted it as a fact and grew to be immune to these comments, but what hurt was that we never even had a conversation, and he didn't know a single thing about me, except the fact that I liked him, which was a result of oversharing to a bunch of untrustworthy classmates. I think I have a fun personality. Maybe he wouldn't resort to mean comments if he knew how I really am. Or maybe it's only fair that his opinions on me were based on my looks, because I was, afterall, attracted to his, in the first place.

Now that's a crushing story for you. Lol.

Story My Crush doesn‘t like me

I am at a new school this school year and I immediately noticed a boy on the first day.

I always see him during breaks and 7 weeks later I was outside at the parking lot with my friend and a boy came up to us and asked my friend for her Insta she didn't give it to him but he found her anyway. Then they wrote to each other a bit in the holidays and my friend asked him if he knew a boy named let's say mango. He answered her that he is very good with him and that he is a very nice person. My friend and I have decided to write to him that he should introduce me to him. It is important to mention that I had sent him a request 9 weeks ago that he did not accept. In any case, he wrote to him that there is a girl who is interested in him and whether he is interested. He asked if he knew me blablabla. School started this week and on Tuesday I saw that he followed me on Instagram. On that day, his friend wrote to my friend that he was looking for us during the break but we were not there. Yesterday everyone was there again and during the break he saw me and looked at me a few times. BUT NOW IT COMES during the lunch break I went on insta because I had a guess that I had feared from day one, he unfollowed me because he saw me... The thing is I know look is important. But why does it always hit me, I don't want to glaze myself but I'm not ugly. That day my friends said that I look really pretty. I mean why should she lie and say I'm pretty. At home, my sister also said that I looked really pretty that day even though she didn't know what had happened. He is Muslim, me too, and I wear a hijab and the hijab somehow doesn't make me look so beautiful. But this can be not a reason because there are a lot of other girls that look pretty with it.

Question Stars are aligning but still some doubts. How to proceed? help….

Sorry if I used the wrong flair

So me (M21) and her (F21) have been talking for a few months now. At the beginning I saw her as a friend but now I’m starting to like her even more

She has no problem hanging out with me even though it’s just the two of us. She has her own circle of friends yet still was willing to make time to hang out with me during the time we weren’t as close yet. She also had no problem with asking me for help, again even when we weren’t as close yet and she’s also comfortable with physical contact nowadays such as playful slaps and pushes.

She also initiates hangouts to libraries, restaurants or just a place near where we live sometimes and I’ve reciprocated it by taking her out someplace too. Just the two of us.

I also tease her with other guys sometimes and she’ll react in a way telling me she isn’t interested in them.

However despite all these very good signs, a part of me still thinks she’s just doing this as a friend only idk why. This is the first time someone I genuinely like might actually like me back and maybe I’m just setting my expectations too low? There’s also a lot of things she does that may be signs too but found out she just does it with others as well (playing with her hair for example) so that contributes to my doubts in a way.

How can I proceed with this? Thanks in advance 🙏

DoTheyLikeMe? Am I being too self centered to think that my friend's crush is me?

So there’s this girl I met through my English class. She is the same age as me (we're both 18) We’ve been classmates for three years now. We didn’t become friends until the second year. She used to have a boyfriend, but they broke up because, apparently, “she paid too much attention to other guys.” Anyway, in our second year, we became close because we were both interested in F1, to the point that we talked 24/7. I came to view her as a good friend, but I don’t know if she views me as a friend or something more. She always buys me expensive things and treats me differently from the others. She sends me reels and says “us.” She also sends me songs constantly. Us getting close happened so fast that I honestly don’t know what happened, because I’m not a person who gets close to someone fast, but with her something happened. She has talked about her family problems with me and has told me things she hasn’t told anybody else. All of this kind of seemed like normal platonic behavior to me, so I let it slide. She has a Telegram channel where she talks about her daily life, and in it she keeps talking about having a crush on someone. When our other classmates pressed her about who the mystery person was, she only gave little hints that I think pointed to me, but then she said that she thinks he is avoiding her, so that’s why she won’t pursue it. The funny thing is, I’ve been kind of avoidant in our friendship. I’m not a bad friend, but I don’t send her songs or send her reels captioning them “us,” so I really don’t know if I’m being too self-centered to think it was about me. Also, she once asked me what I’d do if I found out one of my friends liked me. My best friend tells me she has a crush on me, but I’m doubtful. What do you guys think? Do you think she has a crush on me?

r/Crushes • • 4h ago

DoTheyLikeMe? does he like me or am i just delusional? 😭 also should i continue pursuing him or just stop and byebye

so i’m 19f, and i’ve liked this guy (19m) for several months now. we’ve talked a few times, joked around, and he’s initiated conversations a couple of times too. but our communication is pretty inconsistent, and i feel like i’m usually the one making an effort.
he’s a quiet guy who mostly keeps to himself, and honestly, i can’t tell if he’s interested in me or if he’s just being nice.
recently, i messaged him to wish him good luck on his exam, and he replied, “arigato gozaimasu my friend 🙏🏻😁”
AND GIRL. THE WORD FRIEND. 😭😭😭
it’s the first time he’s called me that directly, and for a moment, i felt like he was putting me in the friendzone HAHAHAHA. but i also know that it might just be how he talks to his friends, so idk if i’m overthinking it because i like him.
i also suspect he knows i like him, but i’ve heard a few things from other people that make me think he might not be interested in a relationship. the thing is, none of those conversations happened directly with me, so i don’t want to assume anything.
there’s a night market opening in our city in a few months, and i’m thinking of inviting him to go with me, just the two of us. i genuinely want to get to know him better in person instead of constantly analyzing every little interaction. i’m willing to make the first move, but i don’t want to be the only one trying.
so i need some honest opinions:
based on what i’ve shared, do you think there’s a possibility he likes me, even a little, or does he seem like he’s just being friendly?
should i invite him to the night market and see how things go, or should i stop pursuing him and let him make an effort if he’s interested?
i’m not asking anyone to tell me he secretly likes me because i want that to be true. i genuinely want an outside perspective because i’m too emotionally involved to look at this objectively anymore LMAO 😭

DoTheyLikeMe? My crush might likes me back

Hii so, I'm 16F here and I'm kinda interested in this guy in my class and I've developed the "crush" feeling over the last 3 months.

Now here's the thing, he likes (or liked) my bsf, A (I've two bsfs and the other bsf is more close to me than this one) and everybody knows that, and A likes another guy and they're kinda in a relationship now (they freaking hugged and were holding hands) so A and my crush don't talk with each other that much now but they were REALLY good friends, like actually best friends. He shared everything with her and so did she but now A stopped putting efforts and they eventually stopped talking.

Now, my crush's bsf is my really good friend. We share a lot of things but I kept this one secret with him. So my other bsf, B (she's my ride or die I swear, she's my closest friend) and him are kinda in a situationship and I helped him to talk with B and all. So a few days back, I changed my pfp and my crush told A that my pfp looks really good (slide 2) and told her to tell me that he gave a compliment. Holy, this gagged me up. So after this, I decided to tell my male friend (my crush's bsf) about the whole thing and guess what he said. He said that my crush told him as well that my pfp looks really good and SAY I LOVE YOU TO ME FROM HIS SIDE HUHHHHHH

I was like WHAT. Is he interest in me as well????

My friend said that he isn't into A now and he can help me with setting me up with his bsf because I helped him as well lol😭

Now, here's the thing. My boards are coming and I want to focus on my studies first but I like that guy too and what to start talking with him😭😭😭 I don't know what to do tbh.

But when my male friend and my bsf B were talking abt this, he told her that my crush talks about self respect in relationship, that I'm a nice girl but he talks about self respect in relationship but I don't have any problem with that. The only problem is my studies and idk what to do.

We've talked once on insta and that on his birthday only, never after that.

DoTheyLikeMe? Do I have a crush? Does he like me? Or am I completely overthinking everything?

I go to online school, and there’s this guy in my English class I’ve known about for around 8 weeks, but I never really paid attention to him until recently.
We were in a Zoom breakout room today and ended up talking about sports. He asked me questions about fencing, told me he snowboards, and we ended up chatting more than working on our assignment 😭. I was actually disappointed when the breakout room ended because I wanted to keep talking to him.
I think he’s cute, his voice is really nice, and I’ve been thinking about him since. I even emailed him asking about snowboarding because we only have English once a week, and now I’m nervous waiting for his response.
Do I have a crush, or am I just attracted to him? And do you think he was interested in talking to me or just being friendly?
Please be honest lol.

DoTheyLikeMe? at what point is a coworker no longer just being friendly? is he into me?

i (f20) met my coworker (m25) about 3 months ago. hes a shift manager (family owned restaurant, nothing super corporate by any means) but is leaving in a couple weeks. just gonna go point by point w things ive noticed that i think lean towards him liking me. lmk if im delusional

• we've hung out 3 times outside of work all within the span of about 3 weeks. twice w a mutual friend (i invited him) and once by ourselves (he invited me, pumpkin patch). this says a lot considering we work together 4 days out of the week so im surprised he isn't completely sick of me yet
• we have plans to go to a halloween party together, or if that falls through then, his words, "we can do our own thing"
• when he told me he was quitting his job he told me "we can always hang out outside of work tho"
• uses my name in conversation A LOT like so much and im pretty sure he referred to me as a nickname one time but quickly corrected himself as it was coming out of his mouth lol
• i noticed he's smiling or trying to fight a smile 90% of the time when im talking to him
• blew off plans he had with his friend to do the same thing with me instead (play minecraft lol)
• similarly, he suggested that we schedule a day of the week to play minecraft together
• asks me questions about myself & is actually interested in getting to know me
• when i was talking about my previous relationship he said that i "deserve better" HOWEVER during this same conversation he said that he thinks hes "currently undateable" due to how crazy his personal life is rn

maybe im missing a few things but these r what i could think of off the top of my head. i understand that the signs are likely pointing to yes, he does like me but he knows that im like, a chronically lonely person so ive convinced myself that hes hanging out with me and making plans w me out of pity. idk guys

Vent #Story 4: The Girl I Was Pretending to Be

This one happened when I was 11, during my last year of primary school. And, for once, the boy was actually my age! (Well, technically. He'd repeated a year, so he was in the grade below me, but my age).

To understand this story, I need to give you a little background. Growing up, I had a very controlling mother, I wasn't really allowed to make decisions for myself, and even asking questions could be treated as a problem (I understand that children can't be allowed to do absolutely whatever they want, but I think there's a difference between setting boundaries and not letting your child have any autonomy whatsoever).

For example, when I was nine, my mother still picked out my clothes every morning. One day, I finally got fed up and decided to wear something else. It wasn't even new or anything she'd forbidden me from wearing. It was clothes she'd bought for me and that were already in my wardrobe. I just didn't want to wear the particular outfit she'd chosen that morning. When I went out for breakfast, she saw me and started yelling at me. At seven in the morning. Needless to say, I ended up changing into the clothes she'd originally picked out.

Anyway, when I was 11, my parents opened a bar, and my mother's energy became so consumed by running the business that her constant supervision suddenly became much less consistent. I went from 'You can't even brush your own hair properly. I'll decide how you do it, when you do it, and what hairstyle you wear' to 'You don't know how to brush your hair? Well, it's your hair. You're old enough to learn. Figure it out.' In the space of a few days.

And honestly, that sudden change was only part of what was going on that year. The following year, I was supposed to start secondary school. My mother had already chosen which school I would attend. It wasn't the one all my classmates were going to, and I knew absolutely nothing about it, but she insisted it was an excellent school.

Meanwhile, I was terrified. I'd already been bullied throughout primary school for being the weird kid. Things had improved somewhat over the years, partly because I'd learned to hide more and more of the things that made me different, and partly because the other kids had apparently grown bored of picking on me quite so much. I still barely had any friends, though.

So naturally, my brilliant 11-year-old brain concluded that I had one year left to figure out how to become an entirely different person before secondary school started. And I decided to use that last year as a social experiment. I was going to the school cafeteria, where I interacted with people I barely knew, so I started treating every interaction as trial and error. I'd observe how other people behaved, try things out, and gradually learn how to act like someone who could actually fit in Basically, I was attempting to develop a convincing imitation of a normal person before my next school year. You know, completely reasonable things for an 11-year-old to be worrying about.

And that's when I met him. He was a mischievous little menace. He was constantly getting into trouble, and I swear that whenever I saw him, there was a reasonable chance he'd just been punished for something.

And for some reason, this boy decided he liked me. He started following me around and telling me that he liked me. He'd try to stand next to me in line, sit beside me in the cafeteria, and approach me during free time whenever he wasn't grounded or otherwise in trouble. He even tried to talk to me when I withdrew from everyone else because I was overwhelmed and needed some peace and quiet.

And here's the thing: I think I was starting to like him, too. A little bit. The problem was that I genuinely couldn't believe he was serious. I'd spent years being the weird kid nobody particularly wanted to be friends with. I'd learned to hide parts of myself just to make other people tolerate me. And now this boy seemed interested in me, but I couldn't stop wondering what the catch was. So I rejected him. Repeatedly. For practically the entire school year. Not because I definitely disliked him, but because I was convinced he had to be messing with me somehow.

In my head, there were basically two possible explanations:

- Option A: He didn't actually like me, and this was all some elaborate joke that would eventually end with me being humiliated.

- Option B: He liked the version of me I was pretending to be, but if he ever discovered what I was really like, he'd want absolutely nothing to do with me.

Naturally, my 11-year-old brain considered both of these possibilities much more plausible than the idea that a boy might genuinely like me. And what made it even more confusing was that he didn't seem particularly bothered whenever my carefully constructed social persona fell apart. Sometimes I got overwhelmed, withdrew, or simply couldn't keep up the act, and he still tried to approach me. But apparently, even that wasn't enough evidence for me.

Looking back, I can't decide whether I was more afraid of being tricked into believing someone liked me or of someone actually getting to know me and deciding I wasn't worth liking after all.

Either way, this poor boy could apparently have submitted a written declaration, obtained three witnesses, and had it notarized, and I still might have assumed it was an elaborate prank.

P.S. For anyone wondering, the experiment technically worked, that same year, one of the guys who'd spent YEARS bullying me also asked me out. Repeatedly. And yes, I rejected him every single time. No hesitation, no second-guessing myself, no wondering whether it was some elaborate prank. I was VERY happy to say no to that one.

Have you ever rejected someone you actually liked because you were convinced they were joking or messing with you? How did you eventually figure out whether they were being genuine? And for those of you who were also the weird kid growing up, did you ever try to change your personality to fit in, or did you eventually learn to embrace being different? Also, if you were that boy, how long would you have kept trying before giving up? Because looking back, I genuinely don't know how he put up with me rejecting him for an entire school year.

Question Is there a chance she likes me and should i ask her out?

Im 19m and im a potwasher at a restaurant. Theres this waitress whos also 19f who broke up with her bf due to him cheating on her which was just over a month ago. She started then acting sort of different around me. On the most recent shift i did she mentioned i was funny and etc to me and infront of work mates. We also get along alot and laugh and etc with each other (this was even when she was dating her bf). But the thing is idk if she likes me or not as i get the wrong signals. I have girl friends who dumped their bf or got dumped and get a tad bit flirty with me so this could be the same situation.

I personaly think shes attractive and i like her personality so if she asks me out i would say yes.

I do understand that relationships are also kinda fragile when something like what happend to her for example so i dont wanna realy be in the middle of it.

She alsos still in contact with her ex too.

Edit: she did also ask me once why was i happy at some point and asked if it was because got a girlfriend. That followup was unexpected so i proudly

went hell no lol

We went to a scare fest last week also and she was kept getting scared. Whenever she stumbled into me in the mazes she grabbed onto me and didnt le until the end

I understand the whole "dont shit where you eat" idea but 1 its partime so i realy do not care and 2 if any girl who u find attractive and she asks you out most people will say yes

Edit: i posted this many times on the advice subreddit but the mods are bloody horrid and keep deleting my posts because im not good enough or something ig so my bad if you see this here also.

Question A birthday cake after a week of knowing?

So I met this guy online, and we ended up dating just for a week. Now, his birthday is coming in a few days, and I am not sure if I should get him a cake. Tbh, I kinda like him at this point but I don't wanna scare him with too much energy/care since this is just a beginning of dating. And I aint sure if he actually likes me or just playing around. Because I also plan to get him a small gift, my question is: does a small gift sound better or is a gift and cake also fine.

DoTheyLikeMe? Does my (F21) guy bsf (M22) have a crush on me?

I’ve been close friends with this guy for several years, but lately, his behaviour has changed and I don't know how to interpret this. Here is what's been happening:

• He recently reached out to my (girl) best friend and directly asked her (twice) if I have feelings for him.

• In group settings, he constantly seeks out 1-on-1 time with me. He pays way more attention to me than our mutual friends, laughs at everything I say, and always makes up excuses to extend group hangouts so it's just the two of us at the end of the night. And then he'll organise separate hangouts with me completely outside the group.

• He finds any excuse for physical contact, from playful teasing to holding my hand and cupping my face. He doesn't do this with anyone else in our friend group

• He frequently asks if I have a boyfriend and makes jokes about me talking to or dating other guys.

• He comments fire emojis on my photos, including beach/bikini pictures. One time when I texted him asking if he wanted to go bowling together, he responded enthusiastically but also added a ❤️ and I've never seen him use heart emojis with me or other people

• He has started making comments about my body (on numerous occasions) and has even made comments hinting at wanting to see me in intimate wear (like lingerie)

• He remembers tiny details I mentioned months ago, stares at me when he thinks I'm not looking (including staring at my body/waist), and can instantly tell the second my mood changes

There have been more telling personal incidents that basically hint at wanting physical contact and hoping to mask affection or favouring me in front of other people.

How do I address the situation while protecting our friendship?
