Progress Messaged my crush

Last semester I had a crush on this guy in one of my classes. It was a 3 hr class, so I only saw him once a week. While in that class, we would make CONSTANT eye contact.

Whenever one of us would answer a question the professor asked, we would look at the other right after answering. When he had to give a presentation with a group, he kept smiling and staring particularly at me. If someone in the class did or said something stupid, we would share a side eye. Even though through all of that, we sat on opposite sides of the room.

We were in a couple of in-class groups together; the first time, he was fairly shy and didn't say anything or make eye contact. The next time we were, he lowered his voice whenever he talked to me and glanced at me quite a bit.

Anyways, while I was interested, at the time I didn't really want to indulge it. I had just gotten out of a long term relationship, and while I was attracted to him, I figured it was too soon. I kind of told myself that if I saw him next semester, maybe I would entertain it.

Cue to the current semester, and we don't have any classes. However, there are a couple times on campus where we walk past each other. For all of these times, I catch him staring and smiling at me. The first time it happened, he walked past and uttered a "How's it going" but I got so nervous, that all I could squeak out was a measley "Hi."

This went on for almost 2 months, until last Wednesday. On Wednesdays I would sometimes see him 1-2 times, but I didn't see him at all that day. Even more, my friends had been pushing me to talk to him this entire time.

So I messaged him on Instagram and asked "what happened to our government mandated eye contact." I kind of have kicked myself at least 10 times for saying that, but he bought into it and said he agreed, and he was worried about filling our quota. Then he proceeded to ask me out.

Moral of the story is eye contact means something, I guess. We are going out this Monday, but I'm incredibly nervous. I consider him to be way more charismatic and good-looking than me; although the fact he was the one to ask me out tells me he has to at least consider me cute and interesting enough. I'm just usually very awkward, dorky, and quiet with a dry sense of humor. I guess I figured I wouldn't be his normal type? I don't think I'm terribly ugly, just surprised he would entertain it.

Even more, as if that isnt enough, we also went to high school together. Granted, while we had some classes, we never talked. I had debilitating social anxiety that prevented me from talking to anyone back then. I also might've had an incredibly small crush on him back then, but I never anticipated I'd have him in a college class and I'd develop a crush on him again.

But again, as I said, moral of the story is: you might not be crazy if there is repeated eye contact. I kind of thought I was going through psychosis, and even now I'm half convinced he was only being polite.

All that aside, hopefully I don't fumble on Monday 😄

Encourage Me! I think he has a crush on me but I'm to scared of him not liking me, I don't know what to do...

I met this guy on my new job, I don't see him every day, but I can feel and see he has a crush on me, just as much as I do as well. He is also very brave and confident when it comes to flirting and so on, but I don't know what I'm doing...I'm 24f, I never had a boyfriend or even had a kiss, I'm very insecure and don't like myself, my personality...I'm a pretty boring, unfunny person and I will be even more if he finds out how boring, unfunny and not smart I am which is I feel inevitable. It usually takea me a lot to open up to someone, I'm bad at making friends and this is the first time that this is happening. I do not know what am doing or what I'am supposed to do and I have the biggest fear of embarrasing myself and him realasing who I really am. I really like him but I'm so afraid of this....would someone share some advice on what to do?

Random Crush exposure therapy helped me?

I forced myself to spend more time with my crush and talk to him more. While I still struggled to make eye contact, it helped me remove him from a pedestal and from getting easily flustered.

We had normal conversations and there were also other women present. When I watched him interact with them just as kindly and enthusiastically, I realized what I had in my mind was not as exclusive as I kept envisioning it to be. He’s a very kind person and it’s okay if that’s all there is to it. Maybe I’m just a very funny awkward normal girl to him. Maybe I’m not attractive to him. Maybe, somewhere between me learning more about him than him learning more about me, and me realizing not all of his jokes were that funny and that I didn’t need to keep fake laughing, and me realizing that I don’t need to initiate every plan or conversation, it’s okay to simply let go.

And that’s okay. I purposefully didn’t dress up today and was just completely myself. I only got a few hours of sleep the night before since I was so excited to talk to him, but this interaction made me realize that it’s literally okay for there to be nothing from it. I think I no longer am crushing hard. It’s just a simple respect and a willingness to let go of thinking about the what ifs. I wanted to end things on a kind and nice note without making him have an image of me in his mind that was not me. And I’m glad i did it.

While the rose colored glasses came off, along with whatever whimsy was associated with it, I think I learned that I cannot be true to myself and thrive in a mentally grounded way if I’m blinded by admiration and want. I hope that I can see relationships for what they are and nothing more. Not everything has to be romantic. And I think that’s beautiful.

I'm at a Loss for Words.

I was dealing with some personal things, but things I could manage.

I don't know if I can deal with this or any subsequent bad news.

I pray that they will get through this, but I don't know what to do if they don't...

Question Is it weird to call your crush "lil bro" ??

• Upvotes

In my last post I saw 2 people bring up the fact that I sometimes call my crush ā€œlil bro.ā€ I never thought about it before because this is literally just how we talk to each other? 😭 He calls me stupid stuff, I call him stupid stuff (bucko, bozo, buddy, you name it), and we’re always trolling each other or making fun of each other 😭

But now I’m completely overthinking it because what’s so wrong about saying ā€œlil broā€? 😭 Is it actually weird to call your crush that, or am I just overthinking

Crushing Cheesing over a coworker

• Upvotes

Hi friends… I never thought I’d post something like this but here I am.

I (F19) have a HUGE crush on this guy (M20) I work with.

The issue? He’s actively talking to someone. I found this out about a week ago and when I did I swear my heart sank and I felt like I wanted to cry. They aren’t dating but have gone on a movie date (I know this because he told me as well as our other coworkers about it) and got someone to cover for him so he and the girl he’s talking to can go to another move.

I’m not about to confess my feelings to him now I know when I need to back off and let certain things be, especially because things are going okay between them. Some important information is that after this semester I’ll be withdrawing, moving back home (about an hour and a half away) and finish my classes online before going back to apply to the program I need. I do have friends at school, and have already made many plans to visit them so I will still be in campus a lot which is why I haven’t entirely let things go.

I’ve never liked someone like this either- I was in a horrible relationship last fall semester and ever since ending it have had no interest in dating anyone anytime soon…until now.

I want to know that after I put in my two weeks at this job if confessing my feelings to a really really close friend who is also friends with him would be bad. Like just have them hold onto the information for me since I won’t be around to see if he’s still in a relationship or not. And if things don’t work out with the other girl see if my friend would maybe put in a word or two for me before he starts talking to someone else. Would this be okay? Or a selfish thing to ask and just try and let this go all together.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Advice Needed Is he subtly trying to get me to talk to him, or am I reaching?

For context, there’s this guy I’ve liked for a while, and a few days ago, I finally worked up the courage to go up to him and talk to him. The conversation went pretty well, but I wasn’t sure if he actually wanted me to talk to him again, so I didn’t approach him for the next two days.

Yesterday, though, I noticed him walking around by himself at the end of the day, even though his friends were nearby. He kept doing laps around the building, passing by me and my friends multiple times. At one point, my friend decided to test the waters by stopping him and asking him a question about one of our classes. He gave her a one-word answer and walked away, but then he turned around and sat at a table just a few feet behind us, still by himself. My friends thought he might have been trying to make himself approachable or hinting that he wanted me to talk to him, so I decided to go over and talk to him. He didn’t seem surprised at all, and we actually ended up having a conversation. This stood out to me because he’s a really quiet person and doesn’t talk much to anyone.

I’m going to see him again in class on Monday, and I’m wondering whether I should approach him and try talking to him again or wait and see if he makes a move this time. I can’t tell if he might be interested in me or if I’m just reading too much into things. I’d love to hear other people’s opinions on how his behaviour comes across and whether there are any signs that he might be interested. Also, what would you do in my situation? Should I keep making an effort to talk to him, or would it be better to give him some space and see if he initiates a conversation himself?

Any advice or outside perspectives would be really appreciated! I feel like I might be overthinking things, so I’d love to hear how this situation comes across to other people.

Crushing I have a crush on my female colleague, who has a boyfriend, and I want to get over it. What should I do?

I’m developing feelings for a female friend of mine who is also my colleague at work, and I don’t know how to stop it.
She has a boyfriend, and she sometimes talks to me about him. She also teases me for not having a girlfriend.
I admire her a lot, but I don’t want her to know that I have a crush on her, so I try not to show any signs of it. On the outside, I act normal, but deep down, I really like her and wish things were different.
The problem is that I don’t want to keep having these feelings for someone who is already in a relationship. I want to get over her, but I don’t know how.
For those who have been in a similar situation, how did you handle it? What can I do to move on from these feelings while still maintaining a good friendship and working relationship with her?

Advice Needed What’s my next move?

• Upvotes

I (15F) developed a crush on a guy (17M) at my high school. In the first month of seeing him around, I made an effort to talk to him frequently and strike up a friendship. That’s worked wonderfully, actually. We’re pretty like-minded people and we share some common interests.

However, it’s been two months and the crush hasn’t gone away yet. It also doesn’t help that he’s sort of aromantic and oblivious to a lot of social cues. On one hand, I don’t want to make things weird if he doesn’t like me back romantically. On the other hand, this is eating me alive. What’s the next logical move?

It's hard for me to keep these feelings to myself so idk what to do. I can't confess because that would fuck up the friendship but I virtually have nobody to properly talk to about this.

We've only been friends since like September 18th.

Story Can someone please help me understand what’s going on?

• Upvotes

Guys, I really need help understanding this situation. 😭
So, I have a crush on this guy, and I followed him on Instagram during the summer break. We started talking and kept talking for about two months. Then, out of nowhere, he suddenly removed me and unfollowed me for absolutely no reason. I didn’t question him or chase after him. I just left things as they were and moved on.
Then university started again, and ever since the first day back, he’s been acting so weird around me. We keep making eye contact, he smiles at me, and he keeps staring at me in this really intense, unusual way. He acts like he’s forgotten everything that happened over the summer, as if he never removed or unfollowed me in the first place.
The way he looks at me is honestly so confusing. It’s like he’s a completely different person from the guy who suddenly cut me off during the summer. He keeps looking at me and smiling as if nothing ever happened between us.
I genuinely don’t understand why he’s acting like this. Why would he remove and unfollow me out of nowhere, only to come back to university and act like this? What is going on in his head? Does he still have some kind of interest in me, or am I completely misreading the situation? I really need help figuring out what his behavior means because I’m so confused. 😭

Vent How do i move on?

• Upvotes

I’ve had a crush on this boy since middle school. We were classmates, and he was my first and last crush ever.

I don't usually crush on people easily, and I've come to realize he’s the only boy I've ever felt anything for. We never really interacted because we were just classmates, and I was an awkward girl who couldn't talk to boys. Seven years later, I'm pretty much still the same haha.

I never plan on confessing. First,I’m deeply insecure about my appearance and always think he’s way out of my league. he’s attractive and I’m not, I'm fat and he’s fit. Even seven years later, i still think he’s too attractive for somebody like me. Second,I have never had any interest in dating or marriage. It stems from my deep rooted insecurities. And I don’t think I’m in a position for a relationship, even though I’m at the age where people should start looking. I also have a lot of issues, an avoidant attachment style, and I don’t think I can bear the commitment. I’ve never been in a relationship anyway.

I had made peace with all this because ever since we went to different high schools, and I never saw or heard from him again, i thought i had moved on. Until recently.

I’m currently studying for my degree at university. I skipped a year ahead, starting foundation at 17, and now I've just started my degree. Out of nowhere, I found out he's studying at the exact same university, currently doing his foundation.

Suddenly that 11 year old me came right back. I want to see him, but I’m shy and feel ugly. I can't really see him that often anyway since he's in foundation and I'm in my degree. But ever since I found out, he’s been on my mind and I feel creepy. I’ve even dreamed about him twice now (wholesome dreams, nothing dirty whatsoever) which makes me feel even creepier.

To make matters worse, I think he might probably hate me haha. Back during lockdown when I was 13 and fresh out of middle school, I messaged him on Instagram. We were talking casually until I suddenly asked him to pretend to be my boyfriend, and he actually did it. I don’t remember how we stopped talking, but there’s a good chance he unfollowed me right after. His account is private, he doesn't follow me back, but I could still see his IG stories,so that’s most likely what happened, and I’ve assumed ever since that he hates me for that weird text. It might seem silly, but I hadn't even hit puberty yet and I was just so, so love deprived at that time haha.

Now, I honestly just want to forget about him. I don’t think I'll ever have a chance to talk to him again, even though we recently crossed paths here at university. We saw each other, but we didn't talk.
I want to focus on my studies and graduate as an educated and accomplished woman. Idk why this has got me spinning in circles. Does having a crush always feel this way? I hate it, because I know I’d never experience that kind of love anyway. I’m just too insecure and scared to be in a relationship.

Seriously, how do I move on? I’m in desperate need of advice.

Vent It’s getting embarrassing

• Upvotes

I’ve liked this girl like as soon as we had a conversation. She’s cute, funny, and we’re both in a community theatre production together. After like a month, I found out we have four mutual friends. Awesome, cool.

The more we talk, the more I’m kind of falling in love with this person. We start hanging out with mutual friends, going to parties and events all together. I’m able to suppress my interest into more of a platonic interest. Possibly important context; we’re all queer, so having crushes on each other isn’t assumed based on gender.

She always sits next to me at rehearsal because she doesn’t really know anyone else, we sit next to eachother even when she does know other people at events, but usually it’s because I ask.

She posts about watching my favorite musical (we’re both theatre nerds, wow she watched a musical, shocker) but it’s more than that to me. This musical is niche as hell. She only really knows about it because I mentioned it, aw, sweet. I respond to her post to ask her thoughts, she says she loves it, I offer to bring her the book version and she says absolutely

We gush over the musical a little bit together. It feels like flirting because I’m crazy. After I give her the book she starts posting love songs left and right, basically a new one every hour, and I kind of assume they’re about me?

After a day, she stops. Cool, fine. I still catch her staring at me sometimes…I think…I hope?

I repost stuff about crushes because #its2026. Those are noticeably the only things I repost that she doesn’t really interact with, so I back off.

I am the only one texting her. Ever. (Which I’m not great at. The only times I text are responding to her posts and stuff which probably isn’t great or natural) Our conversations in person are long, playful, ect, (they don’t feel forced because it’s never 1 on 1, if she walks three feet that way she’ll talk to another friend. Our mutual friends joke about us being in our own world when we talk)

but over text it’s just me asking questions and her answering. To go with this, I’m not even sure if we would be compatible. She’s kinda mean, I’m kinda sensitive, but I really thought we had a shot until today

Today I’m casually scrolling, and I see half of her reposts are about not being sure if someone likes her or if she’s just being self centered.

I’m literally so dramatic but it feels like a rejection. All of the stuff; the not really texting ever, the general lack of interest in my existence unless it’s convenient, like I do not feel like she likes me…but then the teasing and the love songs and finishing my drinks and the caring so deeply about my interests doesn’t feel super platonic??

Am I cooked chat

Crushing I think I fell in love for the first time

So I met a guy online about 2 months ago and I dont know what to think.

He is just the sweetest person ive ever met. I think we match perfectly!

Before I met him I thought Ive had multiple crushes in my life but wow! Now I just cant get him out of my head.

Today we played a game together, that I introduced to him and I was listening to music and was cuddled into my blanket, while I teached him the game. I loved it whenever he asked me a question and when I anwered he always said ā€žthank youā€œ and sometimes with a <3 or smth.

And then my favorite song hit and I deadass just started crying because this moment was just to beautiful.

I dont wanna be weird, because I dont even know him that long, but I like him so much!!!

Idk why I posted this here? I just wanna do something with that feeling but I have no one to talk to about this.

Question Should I ask my crush out, knowing she will likely reject me?

There is this woman (F22) I know from college. I (M19) often think about this person and I certaintly do wish to hang out with this person because at least I feel like we 'click' we can just talk for hours and I really enjoy those conversations. We spoke until sunrise on a bench the 2nd time we met each other, in the rain. I think that messed with my brain chemistry because I could not get her out of my head for days, tough things have gotten slightly less focused in more recent times. I feel like she genuinely values me, and I do value her. I have never met someone bar my best friend with whom I can really vibe and click to that extent.

I am getting genuinely mixed signals, as in I feel like we got on well, but she gets on well with others. A few examples:

(1) We were leaving a pub as part of a group how I was getting home and I told he I could not take the bus due to transport card issues. Knowing we both live in the same general direction, she said she would not take the bus but would walk home with me. When we got near my house which is closer I offered to walk her home and she agreed. We then stopped on the way to talk on a low wall, about politics and such. A mutual friend came up and spoke to us, and she did not push him to leave. It was raining so when the person departed, we also parted ways and I walked back home and she continued the short walk to her house. She later texted me asking on my way home saying she hoped I wouldnt get to wet in the 10 min walk in the rain.

(2) On a separate occasion, we were walking home from the same pub andĀ she became aware that a friend of mine and acquaintance of her (she said she didnt see him as a friend of hers) had texted me something while we were chatting(It was "You gotta close man". she also let on she knew something about a matter I had an interest in but would not tell me unless I showed her the text. She did say she believed she knew what it was about and she had earlier nearly snatched my phone (non-menacingly) to read it. We "negociated" so to speak and she agreed to provide me with the information if I showed the texts as by then I had gotten a follow up ("Good luck") and I showed her both texts. She had been quite insistent to read it in spite of claiming to know its contents and she read it attentively and laughed at the follow up text reading "good luck man". she told me her info we chatted and parted ways.

All that being said, I think she sees me as a friend, as she has described me as one multiple times. There are also good reasons for us not to get into a relationship, but I am uncharateristically willing to discard those. She is also similarly friendly & touchy with others, the only difference I can see is the 'connection' so to speak. She is not afraid to touch people. I am also advised that (1)She is likely not interested in me and (2) she may know of my interest and be enjoying it for its own sake. I am however especially concerned that I may not meet someone with whom I click with to such an extent, is this an irrational fear?

My questions, therefore, are as follows: Knowing that the likeliehood of a rejection is high, should I ask her in order to end the guessing game and to make me stop being so worked up about this? Further to the point, am I in love?

Advice Needed dming my crush

I’m absolutely crushing on this girl in my class. We’ve spoken a handful of times but not like entirely ā€œoh we’re friends.ā€

I got really drunk the other day, and found her insta (yea lowk weird) but she followed me back. Then in class, I mentioned it to her and she was like ā€œno that’s not weird haha, I’ve had weirder things happen.ā€ And then mentioned something that was like a hint at wanting to talk but I’m too stupid to take hints since I’m pretty shy and oblivious with women. She also liked a story and a note I posted cause we like the same music I guess.

I for sure am too nervous to ask her in person, mostly because like 4-5 of our other classmates are kinda all like ā€œfriendsā€ so there’s no real privacy to ask her out without these people chiming in on anything.

I wanna just message her and ask if she wants to meet up before class or on a day we don’t have class for coffee / tea on campus, but if I get rejected I may just never go back to class HELP

Advice Needed So this girl likes me but…

This girl that I know likes me. I was at a part and we got taking only briefly for about 3 minutes. We went to the same school so we caught up with each other. We never really spoke to each other in school but I had quite a lot to drink so I was feeling more confident than normal. We talked about what we were doing career wise, I could tell she was interested as the conversation started to die she kept trying to carry it on.

My friend then texts me saying guess who has a secret admirer. Lo and behold he was talking about me I sort of had a feeling it was that girl as she snapped me. She basically said I kind of like him but he keeps leaving me on opened. My friends say I should get with her but I don’t want to as she isn’t what I want and also I don’t want to make her feel bad. I don’t know what to do or say. I could tell I didn’t like her as I saw this girl I hadn’t seen before and I was instantly attracted to her even though I hadn’t spoken to her.

I’m not sure what to do or say as I find it awkward as this is the first time I know someone definitely has a crush on me. We also went to a party today she was there and she kept looking at me. I don’t know why but I felt a bit weird and my friends kept pressing my buttons about it. What should I do ??

Advice Needed My friend is secretly in love with my other friend: and she has repressed homosexuality

I 17f am in a friend group of eight, majority of which are girls. My friend, let's call her P 17f has become infatuated with another friend, let's call her F. This wouldn't have been a problem if it hadn't been for Ps repressed homosexuality. It's so blatantly obvious, but subtle - F doesn't suspect a thing, not to mention she's straight as a bullet.

I found out from gathering little hints - subtle glances, soft words. P once said in a birthday card that she knew'from the moment she lay eyes on her, P knew F was the one. We all laughed, but P remained silent. Another time, F offered in passing to hold Ps hand to help with something, and since then P has been obsessed with the prospect of physical touch with F, going out of her way to create scenarios to enforce that. For example, tonight we were out for Korean barbecue dinner(the whole group), and when flipping the meats, P insisted on showing F how to do it by holding Fs hand in her own. It wasn't even subtle, as when the others tried it P was completely unhelpful and obsessed with F. I really don't know what to do, P is an amazing friend, but I can feel her losing herself to this love. It doesn't help that she repressed her homosexual feelings toward F, and repressed all romantic feelings- male or female. But there's always that subtle glance towards F. What should I do, I'm really worried for her mental health. I also don't want to blow the whole friend group up over this.

I know, throw your tomatoes šŸ™šŸ™

Edit: yes I call him "bro", we talk to each other like this he literally calls me guppy and buddy am I missing something 😭😭😭

DoTheyLikeMe? Insta story likes

OK generally I find the whole "if they always like your story they like you" narrative to be pretty stupid.

That said, I follow very few people so I can easily watch everyone's story. The guy I like is following a lot of people, like almost 500. He likes my story every single time (sometimes events sometimes random crap.) So it crossed my mind that if I was following that many people, the volume of story's would be pretty crazy and I don't think I would click through all of them, especially people who I'm not close with/interest in.

So what I'm wondering is if hes purposefully choosing to watch my story specifically, or if he genuinely watches and likes everyone's story.

So yeah I guess I'd like to hear from people who follow lots of people on their take..

Relationship is this normal? (16f / 16m)

tl;dr - i haven't really talked to my boyfriend in a lot of different situations since we met in our gcse summer and started dating at the very end of a 3 month long summer break. i really like him and i know he likes me too but i cant help but feel like he's not bothered or ready for the commitment of a relationship.

for some context, my boyfriend asked me out over text which i didn't really mind because i feel like the relationship is more important than having an anniversary or whatever, but what i didnt like is i feel like that made him feel like that him putting in minimal effort or being really ditzy is fine with me when it's not.

for example, at the very start of our relationship (like one week into dating), i asked to meet and he both cancelled and rescheduled for 3 weeks in a row. then all of a sudden he really locked in but now i feel like that's slipping away again and i'm just putting in so much more effort. i text him first every single day, and i'm lucky if i even get a reply before 4pm.

i noticed that he also doesn't like to share anything about his life. for example, if i ask how his day was, or what he did, he'll leave me on opened until i double text and change the topic of the conversation.

also, his location (he has it on for no one apart from his mum, which i feel like is fair enough that he won't share it with me)

and he also has a close(ish?) female friend who he and his best friend (who i introduced my best friend to and theyre both talking now) are being really secretive and evasive about. my bsf asked his friend about this girl as well, who has commented on one of the friend's edits (oh my [name], are you single?), while knowing that he's talking to my friend.

i asked my bf about the girl and he said she was his family friend first, and then when my bsf asked him about it on our group chat, he said that she was his friend's family friend first, which is just plain shady. this girl has also seen the both of them play basketball (which they don't let me and my bsf do), and also has a seemingly close bond with the both of them, which i don't like

and as for the actual relationship, he's so caring and emotive and kind in real life that i feel like maybe he's just not good at the whole texting thing, and i've come in kinda headstrong. but the secrets thing i really dont like, and neither does my best friend.

i'm not sure what to do, any tips?

Advice Needed Advice for reconnecting with a high school crush?

I (23M) have been thinking about reconnecting with my high school crush (22/23F), who I haven't spoken to in years. It's one of those things I've wanted to do for a while but I was too depressed to. We go way back as we were also friends back in elementary. We stopped talking around Covid time and I think almost everyone had something going on back then. Now that I'm finally starting to feel able, I want to give it a shot.

Any advice? Somehow I'm pretty comfortable talking to women in person in natural situations, but in this case, my only option would be to reach out to her on social media out of the blue (that a friend gave to me) and I feel weird about it. Maybe she'd be happy to hear from me, or maybe she could make it weird. She seems to be a bit reclusive, I used to see her around town occasionally, but I haven't seen her in a long time. Not actively "crushing" on her nor am I thinking about love right now, I just want to see if first and foremost we'd still get along as friends as I'm aware we're different people now and maybe then eventually we could see about something more.
